My usual stylist was booked out for a week and I needed a haircut, so I decided to try somewhere new. Let me just say -- lesson learned. I called and got an opening for the next day. I was told the haircut would be $60, so I booked it. When I arrived, I wasn't even sure I was at the right place because the business name didn't match. Turns out it's just a bunch of stylists renting chairs and advertising under their own names. The space itself is a weird little hole in the wall -- not inviting at all. The door was locked when I got there, and my stylist was nowhere to be found, so another customer -- still in a robe with product in her hair -- had to get up and unlock the front door for me. That set the tone for the rest of the visit. I tried to communicate what I wanted since it was my first time, but my stylist seemed far more interested in talking than listening, so I eventually just let her do her thing. Then we moved to the shampoo station, and the chair was absurdly small and uncomfortable. I mentioned it, and she just chuckled and said, "Yeah, it is pretty small." In the middle of washing my hair, she asked me, "Isn't this relaxing?" -- after I had just told her the chair was uncomfortable. Fluorescent lights blaring overhead, people chatting at full volume in a tiny space, and the world's smallest chair... relaxing is not the word I'd use. I just nodded so I didn't have to answer. Then, while still rinsing my hair, she asked if I wanted styling. I was confused and asked what she meant. She explained that styling would be an additional $60 and would require washing my hair twice. I declined -- I wasn't looking for rollers or anything like that, just a basic cut. We finished up, went back to the chair, and she said she'd dry my hair so I could see the cut better. She roughly dried it, left it still damp, and the haircut looked like something straight out of the early 2000s. At that point, I just wanted to leave. Before I could even stand up, she asked if I had Zelle. I said yes, but reminded her I was told they take credit cards. She said they do, but there'd be a fee and she'd prefer Zelle. I just paid it and got out of there. I walked out into the cold January air with damp hair and ended up with a headache. When I got home, my husband asked me if it was raining outside because of how my hair looked. I just blow-dried it myself and accepted that this was a reminder: make the appointment with the stylist you trust and know that they are doing, even if you have to wait. read more

First of all, hairdresser was so friendly and sweet. We had polite conversation. I appreciated her patience. If you're looking for a vibey salon this isn't it so do your research and check out the pics to get an idea. It's a local well loved salon with humble, spacious, and clean setup. There's Christian pop music videos on screen. Parking is super easy. Communication via text is also super easy. All that said, there's a bit to be desired from my haircut itself on bulk and layering. Perhaps I should have been more prescriptive/shown a better more specific photo. So next time I'll do better on showing what I want and giving more details so the hairdresser has a better idea. I called two days ago to make an appointment for a cut and color service since my dyed hair has grown to show my naturally black roots. I explained to Haesue what I wanted and she was able to execute it perfectly! You can tell how skilled and knowledgeable she is about her craft. She's also such a sweet lady, can't wait to come back again. For the cut I asked for a trim with long layers and curtain bangs. My roots were bleached and the previously blonde sections were dyed to match the roots as closely as possible. For anyone curious about pricing, she informed me haircuts for shorter hair is $30 and $60 for longer hair. She's not tech savvy so she wished she could communicate the information easier than answering the same question numerous times over the phone. I've been going to Sue for my haircuts and to dye my hair for over 10 years now, and that's because she cuts my hair and dyes it just how I want it! Also, she's very attentive and caring towards her customers. I went yesterday to get a haircut and to bleach my hair because I wanted my hair to be blonde. She did a fantastic job on it and I love it!! She also cut my hair how I wanted it and I left the salon very happy. The salon is very clean and pretty! I haven't gotten a haircut in six and a half months and Haesue fixed my shaggy pandemic mullet and gave me a super cute bob. She also made sure that I was okay with the length (I'm growing out a pixie cut so I'm kinda picky) throughout the haircut. The place itself is super clean too, and the staff wears masks. The door is also left open for good airflow; social distancing is followed. Sue is very friendly, but I was surprised to be charged $80 for a women's haircut. That's quite pricey for a standard salon in the valley, and it's comparable to, or even more expensive than, some high-end brand-name salons. I would not comeback because of this price. read more

Updating - still think the haircuts are good if you want layers / texture and your hair is long to start with. I asked for less layers this time because I need my hair in a bun for work and don't want hair popping out. It was still too textured and layered, sometimes too much texture in your haircut doesn't actually feel like a haircut and grows out uneven. read more

Been here twice now for a haircut and balayage and results have been amazing each time! The first time was 9 months ago and the color faded out very naturally, and I finally had time today to go back for a touch up. What a gem of a salon in the SFV. I was seeking a quick cut for my bangs and didn't want to make a drive out to LA. Thanks to all of these great reviews, this salon shot up amongst the top five and I'm so glad I found it. Tucked away in a business plaza next to Bank of America and a Korean BBQ restaurant, there's easy parking in the lot. I was immediately greeted at the door and was able to get my hair cut within the fifteen minutes. The owner Hae Sue was the one who cut my bangs and did an amazing job after I showed her some pictures. I used to live in Granada Hills and came only to her to cut my hair and my daughter's hair. I had a really bad experience in the last with other hair dressers that they cut way to much off. Come on ladies, we all had that experience once before. I moved out to West LA 6 years ago and still drive to the valley to get my hair cut by HaeSue only. Her cost isn't much compared to other Korean salons. But you get for what you pay for. She washes your hair, cuts and stylist it as well! Unlike other salons I've been too, they totally rush you if another clients are waiting. However, with HaeSue is takes her time and you honestly see her work. She is soo amazing and so nice! I was recently a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding and the make up artist that worked on my hair, complimented on how amazing my hair cut was! If other stylists are complimenting on my hair cut that means HaeSue is doing an amazing job! She's so talent and makes you feel like a million bucks! If you ever need to cut or color you hair, go to SUE!!!!!!!! :) I wanted to color my roots and add highlights and SUE took the time to sit down with me and show me the hair color swatch book. She pretty much gave me a consultation. I also showed her a picture from a magazine and she was able to tell the exact colors it'll take to mix and match to get the exact shade. Her expertise in coloring is right on! She can tell the natural hue of your hair with just one look and is able to tell what shades will match the best. So I originally got an asymmetrical bob a year ago and I've since grown it out, but it's still asymmetrical. I scheduled an appointment and walked into this cute gem of an establishment.
