Fancy Pup was the first groomers I took my puppy. The staff seemed friendly enough and seemed to care about his well being. I brought him back a couple more times before I realized that his grooming appointments were turning into 5-7 hour appointments, which did not seem right to me. The groomer I booked with constantly seemed off. On our final grooming appointment, the groomer decided that she was going to speak really unprofessionally and hateful regarding me and my dog on her personal facebook page. Fancy Pup, I strongly suggest looking into more professional groomers. I also strongly suggest not taking so many animals at once so they don't have to sit in cages waiting for their turn to be groomed. Once I learned this, it made sense why my dog's appointment was almost 7hrs long. I put off leaving a review for almost a year, however I can not stand the idea of people leaving their animals in this establishment's care. The place appears dirty right off the bat and it actually kills me that I left my dog with them for the amount of time that I did. They Use Bark Collars!!! I'd like to start off first by saying I would recommend this place to anybody for years. I have been taking my little boy here for almost 5 years. When I first started taking him here the groomer we had was phenomenal, but she soon left after. I can see why now. The place itself is not all that great to look at to begin with, it isn't well kept and looks run down. They seem to have someone different at the desk almost every single visit. The turnover there must be like a revolving door, to make matters worse the groomer used to come out and greet you, and you could tell them exactly what you wanted done. Now you have to relay it through the desk girl who just puts it in the notes. And that's when things get really messed up! Our most recent visit will be our last! We made an appointment for our boy. For some reason I've had to tell these people 10-12 times that he's a boy. Yet every time I'm there they call him a she, so it's probably no surprise that they cut him like a girl! Do you not know what a dog's member looks like??? Next, they told me to drop HIM off at 10:30, they asked me if he was just getting the same cut, I don't trust their notes so I asked if the groomer was busy, and if she could come out? They told me she wasn't there yet and had to pick her kids up from school or something, but asked if I was ok having her call me before the groom. I said ok. She didn't call me till almost 2:30! Why am I dropping my dog off and having him locked in a crate for 4 hours if you are not even there to groom him?!?!?????!!!! I tell her to cut him the same but just to go a little bit shorter on his Beard. She ends up cutting the whole thing completely off! Now my little boy is also a barker, he barks at every other dog, he barks when he hears someone outside or when he needs to come in from outside. So I thought it was very strange how he was acting after we got him home. First off he kept laying his head down on his side, which he never does, he always lays flat on his tummy with his legs spread out behind him. So I don't know if it hurts him to lay on his belly now seeing as they shaved all around his manhood. And when we left him outside he would not bark to come in. When he saw some dogs waking down the street later that night he did start to bark but it sounded muffled as if it hurt to bark. So I don't know what the heck they did to him to keep him quiet while he was there. I don't know if they are using bark collars now or mussels. But he will be getting a mobile groomer coming to the house from now on. I don't care if it cost $100 more, I'll never put him through this ever again. I have been taking Teddy to A Fancy Pup since he was a puppy. Michael is his groomer. She is excellent. I love the way she cuts his hair. She is consistent and always does what you ask. Michael keeps her commitments or she makes it right. I greatly appreciate that. I have never compared prices to other groomers. I pay $65 for a full groom. I think that is expensive but I can also say I have not been disappointed yet. read more

this place was not what i expected. first off the parking lot isnt paved so it was pouring out and the parking lot was mudding and puddles everywhere. the place looks like an old shed that was converted to a business. you walk into the place and the front area looks like it hasn't been updated or cleaned in i dont know how long. there was dust everywhere and all over the plugs and outlets around the area. when i walked in i waited for 10 mins before someone came out. no bell, no one at the front desk or even checking every so often. there was a lady there before me who was waiting for 20 mins. since i was new they had me fill out this typed up form, not even an official form. super generic that someone did on word and just basic information. not professional at all. they took my dog to the back and didn't even ask for verification of her rabies shots so who knows if other dogs in there had rabies? they said it would take 2-4 hours. it took 4 hours and i got a text, not a phone call but a text. i picked him up and he didn't looked clean at all and his nails was barley done. i paid $80 for a half job being done. worst part is when going back to the car, it was still muddy out there so he walked in the mud and got it in the car....great. there was no way around that either as there was no side walks or anything paved. this place is a waste and the only reason it got 2 stars was the lady who took him was nice and not rude at all. i will still never go back thou. read more

I've been using them since we moved here last fall. Cuts have never been great but they were ok. Yesterday I picked her up and she her once fluffy head, face, and tail had been shaved! I politely told the groomer that her cut was wrong. Her response to me was that's exactly how I cut her last time. I informed her that they nor anyone else had ever cut her that way. She said she cut her exactly how it was in her notes from last time. I again told her that her notes were wrong and Mia had never been done that way. She never apologized but argued with me instead as if I didn't know how my dog is supposed to be and has always been cut! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. When I dropped off my fur baby, I asked for a full groom and to keep his hair at medium length to show off his curls! The day goes on and I call about 6 times and no one answers the phone ! I just wanted to see if he was ready since it's been several hours... whatever, when I finally show up, my dog's hair was completely GONE! This was the worst haircut he has ever had. I dropped my dog off, and they never called me to pick him up. They said it would be 3-4 hours, but after waiting even longer than that, I just went up there on my own. They gave me my dog and when I put him in the car I saw blood on my seats, and I seen BOTH of his back paws were bleeding. Since both of his paws were bleeding, I can only assume that they were careless or the staff don't know what they are doing. There was even blood all over my shirt from holding him. My dog is only 16 pounds, and super friendly. What makes it worse is that they didn't tell me, instead they tried to cover it up. Even when I went back in, they tried to feed me a bunch of excuses. I took my baby there on a Saturday morning with a 11 appt, my instructions for the groomer was to NOT cut half of her hair off, just cut her bangs and do nothing else to her face besides clean it up, not to touch her hair because i like that full for her ponytails, that i like her legs to remain full( Lamb cut legs) I called several times when it begin to be around 5-6pm, starting feeling like someone was wrong, 7pm no call, by 8:30 I headed there and she still wasnt ready, I knew then they had messed my baby up, I went and sat in the car and by around 8:45 or 9 the groomer brought my baby out, shaved down and looking a mess. She tried telling me that she was matted which isnt accurate,I brush her daily and she is groomed regularly,and even if she had matted areas the person who took her from me said she would have Michael which was the groomer contact me if she had any questions, so thats what shouldve be done before messing her up like this. This is the second time this is happened and it will be the very last time. Her head is chopped to pieces with barely anything to grab for her ponytails, they cut her tail, shaved her legs, cut her facial hair. I am so pissed at this point. That night I called back and the groomer told them she would call me back, of course she didnt and then I left 3 messages, no return. I talked the manager or owner and she was supposed to call me back again no return call, so this is what it lead up to. read more

Do not take your animal here. I took my shih-tzu there. There grooming manager cut my dog to to close she ended up with a infection around her neck. Instead of being honest Michael the groomer stated my dog was matted and had sensitive skin. I just picked up my border collie from this salon and upon further inspection I have found that not only did they shave her fur (which they were given explicit instructions not to do as she is double coated) but overall the cut is choppy and not done well. I talked with the woman they was intended to be her groomer for the day and gave picture examples of the way her hair is normally trimmed and asked only for an all over trim with the fur on her tail and butt area to be trimmed slightly more. The groomer seemed to know exactly what I was looking to get and I was optimistic. After receiving my dog and looking her all over I am extremely disappointed and will never plan on returning to this location. If your dog has a double coat stay far away from this pet "salon". I tried calling once I got home since it says they don't close until 6 but they hadn't picked up which is why I'm taking to Yelp to write this review. Paying $75 to receive subpar service is outrageous. read more

I booked an appointment for both of my dogs and was pretty hopeful as they were able to take us in at the last minute. The second I walked in to pick up my dogs I realized how wrong I was. It took forever to get my dogs as children we're running the front desk. It took nearly 20 minutes to find my dogs. The place is NOT even that big. The 'trim' on both of my girls was botched and uneven. Their hind legs and under their neck look absolutely horrible! Their nails were barely trimmed and dew claws completely ignored. My two puppy's have been groomed here 3 times and 2 out of 3 times one of them was not cut how I wanted him cut at all each time Jackie was their groomer. My request was completely ignored the last 2 times. The last time was the worst, after I explained the issues Jackie got a nasty attitude with me and made excuses, not one apology was made. She also continued to mumble things under her breath as she walked away mid conversation. I got home and realized she did not brush their teeth or cut their nails like I asked for(which I got charged for). I spoke to the owner prior to leaving the salon about my experience and then I called and spoke to her once again when I got home after I realized their teeth and nails issues. After speaking to her she apologized and said she would issue me a refund for one of my dogs. It's been 2 weeks and my refund has yet to be done. I called 3 times to speak to her and everytime they told me she would call me back, she has not. I will not be returning. You all are rude and unprofessional. I first used them to do one of my dog's nails. Next, I took my small corgi/dachshund to get a haircut. This week, I took my cat to be groomed (deshedding) for a mini-groom and today my bloodhound for a mini-groom. They are GREAT! It has been 3 days and my cat still smells wonderful and now my bloodhound smells soooo good! I don't know what they put on them, but it is heaven! Do NOT hesitate to take your dog here. Took my black lab in for a quick nail trim. We got home and she started to bleed from one of the nails they had trimmed too short. I now have blood spots all over my off white carpet. When I called they told me, "oh, it probably wore down from walking on the concrete". Well, I parked right in front of the store. She walked maybe 5 feet to the car. I asked for a refund or help getting my carpet cleaned, they said, "they don't do that". I am very frustrated! I received a coupon flyer so I decided to try it since my dog needed grooming. I opted for the full groom which included the trim/nails/anal sacs/ears/etc. I was very pleased with the job the groomer did. I was a little surprised at the price only because when I called I was told something a little less. My dog did have matted/fine hair which took the groomer longer than expected. This I can understand but I think one should be told beforehand that iadditional costs might accrue. The other item was that several sites online show that credit cards are accepted. Not true. Wow what an awful experience!!! I called at 11am to just inquire if this place had any openings for a grooming and they told me yes, bring him in at noon, so we did. We explained that we wanted him cut as short as possible without being shaved. They seemed very busy but that assured me they must be good to be this popular. Little did I know what we got ourselves into. First of all, we dropped him off at Noon and he wasn't done until 8pm. When my wife picked him up the groomer said he peed in the bathtub. Well that's because he was there for 8 hours and wasn't let out once. Why would you have me drop off my dog 7 hours before you actually get to him and how do you not have a policy to let dogs out?! Then the lady at front desk had the audacity to tell my wife that we should have picked a non busy day to come in. Ummmmm, if they told me when I first called they had no openings we would have just went elsewhere!!!!!!! How dare her to say such a thing! We would have been happy to have went elsewhere if we were told you were booked! Second of all, clearly the groomer ignored the one instruction we gave her. Maybe she forgot about our conversation because it was 7 hours prior, who knows. But somehow to shave him and then not even blend the hair to match is somehow acceptable for $60. I'm sorry I didn't realize I ordered the butcher package. Poor guy looks like Lloyd Christmas. On top of all this, they gave us the wrong leash!!!! My wife didn't realize until she got home and now they are closed until Tuesday. It is absolutely remarkable everything that transpired today at A Fancy Pup and now I have to wait 3 days for them to reopen while my poor dog looks like he does. He also pooped in the house after he got home, as a result of not being let out. We normally use Amber as our groomer at Fancy Pup but she is out on maternity leave so we had to use someone else. The girl who groomed our pup today did a terrible job. They were late coming in, kept her for 7 hours and were still late when we went to pick her up. They shaved her down to almost nothing (claiming she was "overly matted"), didn't trim her face in the way is listed on her card and didn't trim her tail at all like we asked. We like Amber a lot but are seriously considering a different groomer because of today's appointment. read more

Extremely disappointed! I've taken my standard poodle to them for a couple of years, and there's only been one time that I was completely satisfied. TodY I picked her up and they had cut off the poof on her tail! No one bothered to call me to ask if it would be okay because she was matted, they just chopped it off! STAY FAR AWAY. I've came here several times and never had an issue. The lady that usually grooms him was off and we let a new lady groom him because we can only make it here on weekends. BIG MISTAKE. I just picked him up (he's all white) and he had blood all over his face and paws. He's a husky, so we don't get his hair cut or anything else where they could've cut him. There was so much of it all over him that they offered to take him back and wash him off. The lady tried to tell me it was caused from his collar and that it was discoloring him. Really? He's had that collar for over a year and FYI the collar isn't red. Then she tried to tell me it was the cage that discolored him. Yet my other dog is white and black didn't have this same red color all over him when we picked them up. Not to mention the cages are black, so why does he have red all over him from a black cage? Then she changed her story once again and said that when he came in, he already had it all over him. Alright, well if he did (which he didn't) and you gave him a bath, WHY IS IT STILL ON HIM? I brought him here to get a bath, so how would have stayed on after he was bathed? I know what blood looks like and my dog had it all over him. Do not take your pets here. Unless of course you want them back covered in blood, then you can just take then here and they'll charge you $95 for it. It's like playing Russian roulette with groomers here, apparently. read more

I'll begin with a little history. I'm a recent college grad, and my miniature poodle (Sweetie) lived with my aunt while I was away at school. She had taken Sweetie to A Fancy Pup many times before I moved back to Charlotte, so I didn't see a problem with continuing taking her there. I called 3 days before thanksgiving, hoping that they would have a last minute opening to groom my dog. I was assured when the receptionist said I could drop her off early the next morning. I arrived at the business with my dog at 8:30am that morning. I was a little confused when they could not find Sweetie's file, because, as I mentioned, she had been there before. Since there was no file, they had no record of who usually groomed her or what cut to give. Nonetheless, I asked the receptionist to just give me a book to pick a cut from, but she said none of the pictures they had were of poodles. Like seriously, I could clearly see three other poodles in the back, so they were obviously a common breed in the shop. However, I was reassured when one of the female groomers came out and said she would be taking care of Sweetie and was able to get a good idea of how to groom her based on a picture I showed from my phone. After dropping her off, I went home and took a nap and ran some errands. I called the shop around 4pm to see when she would be ready, and the groomer said around 6-630 but would call when she was done. I showed up at 7pm, because she didn't seem so sure of herself and I still had not yet received a call even though they closed at 8pm. Upon my arrival, she motioned through the window to give her 15 more minutes. I gave her 30 while I waited outside. When I re-entered the shop I could see her almost finished cutting Sweetie. HOWEVER, during this time, she started arguing with what I believe was her manager saying how the manager should stop being down everyone's throat since everyone knew it was a holiday rush. After a few b- words and other colorful language was thrown around, the lady grooming my dog finally yelled she quit and stormed out. Mind you, the whole time they're arguing and gesturing at one another, she has scissors in her hand handling my dog, which pissed me off. So I'm sitting there witnessing all of this looking completely dumbfounded because after 12 hours my dog still isn't fully groomed and now had no groomer. Luckily, one of the other women finished her up. I guess they didn't know how thin their walls are because I could hear them debating on how much to charge me, because they lost Sweetie's file card again during the commotion. Eventually, a male receptionist came to the front and said, "That'll be $50." I wanted to say, "Um, no sir that'll be free and bring me my damn dog," but I tried to hold my composure and explained to him calmly why I wasn't paying $50. Even though I still feel like the service should have been free, we negotiated a $15 discount. Although Sweetie looks absolutely fabulous, they didn't brush her teeth or paint her nails like I requested. It goes without saying that I will never take my dog to A Fancy Pup ever again. They did a great job, but they are highly unprofessional and were not cautious when handling my dog. Adding to that, when I brought her home she ate and drank like she had been neglected the whole 12 hours she spent in their careless hands. Back to Posh Pets I go! read more
