This engine has been exceptional, with only regular maintenance required. It had begun to die while I was driving it a couple of months ago, and had become progressively worse. After a sensor replacement by my trusted mechanic was to no avail I had the jeep, now unreliable for the first time in 28 years, having died four times in the last mile I drove it, dying again as I pulled into my driveway, towed to AMO because of the stellar reviews they have received here on Yelp, in what turned out to be the right move. What may seem an inordinate amount of time for a diagnosis, and I certainly thought it was, until I learned from Josh, that the diagnostician, I assume Adam, had been out sick, believe that or not, and I do...Adam solved the issue when he returned. It was NOT an easy diagnosis...I had taken it to my regular mechanic, twice, they could not determine the cause. I do admit that I became frustrated with the amount of time it was taking for AMO to diagnose, it is my only ride, and I told a very polite woman that answered the phone just that. I received a call back shortly from Josh explaining the situation. The eventual diagnosis? The ECM, the engine's brain, was faulty and needed replacing...and the part was expensive. I approved the repair and my old Jeep was up and running...ready to go on 2/7...back to its old self. Okay, here is my assessment, simply, these guys are great! Once they were able to look at it, it was diagnosed and repaired in short order. The difference between the price Josh had quoted me and what they charged was about 500 bucks! Oh yeah, it was in my favor!! WHO DOES THAT? They gave me a price, I approved it, and the invoice was $500 cheaper. Did I say these guys are great?! My dad bought this new in 1997, he died in 2005, and I have been driving it ever since. Now 70, this by far the best vehicle I have owned, she's not much to look at, and some features don't work, but she starts and runs beautifully. At age 30 she qualifies for "Antique" plates in Florida, thanks to AMO, I have no doubts she will now make it! If you read this far, take your vehicle to AMO now, you will not be disappointed!

Did some research and found All County. They confirmed that I needed brakes but it would be ok to wait to schedule at my convenience in the near future. They did the job, were courteous and checked the car over to be sure it was good to go for a trip I'm planning. Total bill was $100 less than Firestone.

Advance Auto Repair & Transmission - Please Read Before Trusting This Shop With Your Transmission…read more I normally do not leave negative reviews, but after dealing with this issue from November 2024 through 2026, I feel obligated to share my experience so others can make an informed decision before spending thousands of dollars here. In November 2024, I brought my vehicle to Advance Auto Repair & Transmission because my transmission was slipping. After speaking with the owner, Frank, I paid $3,991 on 11/2/2024 to have my transmission rebuilt. About a week after getting my car back, I noticed transmission fluid leaking and had to return the vehicle for repairs. They corrected the leak, but approximately three months later, the transmission began slipping again. I brought the car back, and Frank repaired it without issue. However, shortly afterward, the torque converter (which is part of the transmission system) failed. The torque converter was replaced multiple times because, according to Frank, the parts supplier kept sending defective parts. Eventually, he ordered the part directly from the dealership. Unfortunately, after the replacement, the transmission slipping returned again. I continued reporting the issue, but every time we test drove the vehicle together, the problem would not happen while Frank was present but did happen when one of his employees test drove it with me for about 30 minutes and he cleaned a certain part that he thought would fix the problem, which it didn't. When I brought it back and told frank his employee noticed the slippage, we asked him but now he state he doesn't remember. Are you serious. What kind of shop is this. So frank again told me he believed I was "paranoid" and insisted the transmission was fine. Instead of fully resolving the issue, he extended my transmission warranty as a "courtesy." However, my concern was never about extending the warranty -- it was about properly fixing the transmission while it was still under warranty. I continued driving the car despite the slipping because I had already invested nearly $4,000 into the repair. Over the course of 2024 into 2026, I repeatedly brought the vehicle back regarding the same issue. Throughout this entire process, I remained patient and respectful, despite the ongoing frustration. My final visit was especially disappointing. After waiting for Frank to return from a test drive, he walked into the office laughing. I told him I did not understand what was funny because this situation has cost me thousands of dollars and years of inconvenience. Once again, he dismissed my concerns and told me the transmission was fine and that I was simply paranoid after we test drove it for only about 5 minutes. What makes this even more frustrating is that multiple passengers who rode in my car independently noticed the transmission slipping without me mentioning anything to them beforehand. Clearly, I am not imagining the issue. Before I left, Frank informed me that my warranty had expired, despite the fact that the original transmission problem was never permanently resolved while the warranty was active. Advance Auto Repair & Transmission advertises "100% guaranteed work," but based on my experience, I do not feel that promise was honored. After paying nearly $4,000 , which I'm still paying on and spending over a year returning to the shop for the same unresolved issue, my transmission is still slipping. Frank got paid, I still do not have a properly repaired transmission and I'm out of $4000.

They said the wheel bearings and both tie rods needed to be replaced. I also signed up for the top tier $125 auto detail (more on that later). I agreed to replace the wheel bearings and both tie rods and wheel alignment. Paid a good sum of money for this repair. Within nine months my front passenger tire was completely bald and close to blowing out. Took it to Tire Kingdom to get a new tire and alignment. They couldn't do the alignment because the tie rods were shot. Both sides. So why didn't the repair I had paid for last? Going back in time to the visit to PC Auto: They were supposed to detail my car the day of the repair. They weren't able to do the exterior work (waxing, etc) because there was a very bad storm. Which ok, that was fine, no big deal. When I got into my car to leave, I noticed that the interior detail was extremely deficient. Granted, it was super dirty. I'm a single mom of a very special-needs child, the last thing I have time for is cleaning my car. So I paid for the top detail package. For instance, just using the steering wheel as the point I'm choosing to use as an example, rather than listing all the interior areas neglected, but the steering wheel hadn't been touched and was still so dirty that I took a napkin and rubbed water on a spot, leaving a clear circle showing it wasn't cleaned (that was just one area. I wish I could share the picture I took. It wasn't just a little difference, it was way blatant). I went back inside to let them know they didn't touch a lot of the interior (even the inside of the windows). They did a good job vacuuming and shampooing the carpets though! The owner (I understand there's two owners, a front store owner and a back store owner?) The back store owner ( I don't know if I'm phrasing that correctly) looked at it, annoyed with me, said "well you only paid for the basic." "No, I paid for the top one! And even the basic would clean the windows and steering wheel and door panel. Look, I can rub it off with water!" So they said they would finish it when I brought the car back to complete the exterior when the weather was better. I took my car back within a few days of the repair to finish the detail and also because I still heard the original noise that replacing the wheel bearings and tie rod was supposed to fix. The sound didn't happen when I rode with the mechanic, so they never identified it, but apparently it wasn't the wheel bearings and tie rod that I was told was the problem. (have since found out it was the brake backing plate, simple bending it solved the sound). So that day (I was very nice about this too!) they washed their hands of me. They refunded my money for the auto detail. I figured, okay, they gave my money back, I got a partial detail... I'll let it go and move on. But when I found out that the repair I paid good money for didn't last (what, six months tops?) and I had to get all new tie rods and an alignment all over again, and a new tire (!), realizing I wasted a lot of my hard-earned money on them and had to go through this repair all over again, and pay for it again, I'm pissed and not keeping quiet about it anymore. Palm City Auto did me wrong. Even though I was super nice about the whole thing, they washed their hands of me, and then I find out that it was all for nothing. Not cool.
