Every person we talked to was fun, funny and just a joy to hang with. Harlow was great (bartender). She concocted this olive spin on a Hugo Spritz. Wife absolutely loved it. For me the bourbon selection was great. Got to try a newly opened Old Carter. Also dabbled in the Shackleton. Figured some exploration with one of the greatest explorers. Both were great. Finally the food. Every thing we ordered was absolutely delicious. Massive truffle fries (called chips but more like logs lol), don't sleep on the Gouda Mac and cheese, farmer fresh sliced squash and my meal, the 12oz steak on a bed of Peruvian mash potato's with shiitake mushrooms rounded out with asparagus. I can not accurately describe how amazing that meal was. You gotta try it for yourself. Andrew, we will be back.

We started with their Bread plate, a nice serving of fresh bread and a good start while waiting for our meal. I ordered a Black & Tan and it was not that, this is a traditional pub pour, with guiness and bass ale, with a distinct break between the two porter on the bottom and the ale is floated across the top. There was no break in my serving and it was not a traditional B&T. After giving the concise menu a look, I opted for the Fish and chips and a side of their Gouda and mac. Fish and Chips, Haddock, whole potato wedges tartar and ketchup with a lemon wedge. The fish was prepared very well, the potatoes like home style and the mac and cheese very good, rich creamy and tasty. The Haddock was a nice large filet, breaded lightly and tender. A good meal. A lot of folks the night of our visit ordered the Fish and it is obvious its one of their signature dishes. A solid choice for a meal in my book. 4 Stars A solid meal in a comfortable location 01286

Cute little spot for a casual meal in Watkinsville. We stopped here on a whim after doing some…read moreshopping in town and were pleasantly surprised. Everything on the menu and coming from the kitchen looked good. The thick burgers are huge. I prefer a medium rare burger and mine was cooked nicely; however, my partner who ordered their burger as medium rare at the same time had theirs come out medium well to well done, so seems it can be a bit inconsistent. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant very cute inside as well. Overall it was a pleasant visit and we would try it again so would recommend for a lowkey lunch.

I was disappointed by the service I received at The Traveling Hobo Cafe. I ordered a hamburger with…read moreno cheese, but when I checked my receipt it didn't reflect that request. I told the young woman taking orders, and she assured me "it's no cheese" even though it didn't show. When my burger arrived, it had cheese. I asked if they could remake it without cheese (because I can't have any at all). A more senior staff member said she would "just take the cheese off," which wasn't acceptable. When I asked again for a new burger or a refund, she refused both--with an attitude. I ended up leaving still hungry and feeling ignored. I hope the cafe reads feedback like this and improves; their menu might have potential, but I can't recommend them based on my experience.

After reading on their Facebook page that Shark's I've been patiently waiting for Shark's to reopen…read moreunder New Management (Owners). However, rather than posting a, Now Open, message on their page, they only responded to a post, which I found last Thursday, 10/21. So, on Friday, I eagerly headed over to the restaurant to get a Large Oyster (14 pieces) dinner, with Rice and Hushpuppies, a 6 piece Mild Wings dinner with French Fries and Hushpuppies, and a slice of Cheesecake, with Strawberry topping. Well, I've got good news, and not so good news. Upon walking in, be prepared to get shocked by the bright orange, and green walls. Sadly, with New Management, comes new recipes. And, at this time, the reason that I have to downgrade my rating for them Now, normally, I'm always willing to try something new. But, when you order an item, or items, that you've had before, one expects it to be the same. Especially, if the item (less change to the sauce, or marinade) can be had at other places, with very little change to the food itself. Fried Oysters: For over 50 years, I've enjoyed these from various places, including 3 previous times from here. And, other than the dipping sauce (usually cocktail) being slightly different from place to place, I've NEVER had 'em fried like this! And, to be honest, I hope, never again! Not only were the oysters formed capsule shaped, the coating was a corn meal mix (see photo). Therefore, neither looking, or tasting like, traditional fried oysters. While crispy, the taste, even with cocktail sauce was nothing like what I'm accustomed to. So much so, that I threw out the remaining 7 oysters. :-( Very doubtful that I'll be ordering these again from here. Overall rating: 2 Stars Rice: Like the oysters, the rice recipe was different, too. But, unlike the oysters, this yellow rice was pretty good. However, it is a bit spicy. So, it may not be suitable for mild entrees. Overall rating: 4 Stars Wings: Again, it seems they've changed the coating recipe. But, the wings are still big, and juicy. However, the sauce, not only is it too mild, it looks like more like a salad dressing, than a marinade for wings (see photo). I had also asked for a cocktail sauce, and a ranch dressing sauce. But, the girl forgot to add 'em. Sob I'm sure glad that I had some at my place. Overall rating: 3.5 Stars Strawberry Cheesecake: 2 more changes here. But, one was for the best! Yay! The plain cheesecake was among the best that I've tasted. However, the strawberry glaze drizzle was, sadly lacking in taste (very little strawberry flavor). Overall rating: 4 Stars I'm hoping that their other entrees are not changed as much. So, I'll give 'em another chance on the other meals.

The honey mustard and BBQ sauces were both good. The fries were a little soggy, but that's probably because we got them to go and ate 10-15 mins minutes later. The hush puppies were a little hard. I would definitely eat here again just based on the chicken. Good quality and flavor. Seating is limited and it's a bit warm inside. Otherwise we enjoyed it. Staff was informative about specials. For locals, it's adjacent to the gas station where Popeye's used to be.
