Thanks to other Yelpers. Bookmarked this spot and was near at lunchtime. It was posted as authentic Parisian in atmosphere and food. The lunch rush, is a packed. Daily specials are posted on the wall. I went with the beef bourguignon. Full of rich flavor, tender beef that fell apart and carrots over potatoes. With a glass of wine- fabulous lunch. Menu is limited- nice. Kitchen is at the end of the bar so you can watch all the hustle. Bistro tables are tiny and space is limited. But eat here. read more

Ducked into A Jean Nicot after a day at the Louvre. It's a tiny little spot that you can walk right by if you're not really playing attention. Look at the building #. Billed as authentic French cuisine near the Louvre. I ordered the cassoulet -- I get that it's not a Parisian dish but I figure I was in France. It was good. The seating is tight. It appeared that all the food was precooked and heated in a salamander. The best part was a the people watching as it is still an active Tabac. Yes they sell smokes. It was great to watch the locals come in and grab some smokes. Or stand at the bar, eat and read the newspaper without getting a crumb on the floor or their perfectly tailored suit. First time in Paris and I already experienced racism because of the manager of this establishment. I beg you NOT to visit this place if you are from a Spanish or English-speaking country. After spending many hrs in the Louvre Museum, my friend and I were tired and hungry and just needed a place to sit and try out a Parisian Bistro. We googled places and this one seemed to fit right in for the occasion. It was around 2 pm or 3 pm, so we wanted to have lunch. We were welcomed by a hostess who was kind enough to give us a place to sit. Unfortunately, the spot was uncomfortable. Therefore, as we saw the patrons next to us leave their table we squeezed right in without thinking it was going to be such a big deal (keep in mind this is a tiny tiny restaurant). Right after that, "the manager" came to our table furious. He started to ramble and say things, I couldn't completely understand, but it was something about changing tables without asking. We apologized and explained that the first spot was uncomfortable and that we could barely move (also was next to the restrooms). He just cut me off and walked away. Several minutes passed by, so I got up and asked for a menu because we were starving at that moment. I asked "the manager" for a menu to which he replied "in a minute" even though, the menu was right next to him. Another 15 min went by, and the manager finally comes to us with their menu. I have to mention that this guy pushed the menu towards my chest as he was annoyed to be serving me and my friend. After 1 second the waitress comes to our table but we haven't had a chance to even open the menu, so I asked for 5 more min. Then, we realized were only given the drinks/desserts menu, not the main one. We asked for food and the manager said that there was no food he snatched the menu right off our hands and walked away. I did not say anything until then. But, as I gathered my things and walked towards the exit he was blocking it while serving another table with a totally different attitude, that's when I realized. I had to tell him how rude he was to us, he dares TO PUSH ME!!! I told him not to touch me. As we were leaving the establishment he let out a racist slur against Spaniards. I felt dishearted and sad after this experience. I was mistreated and discriminated against because of my looks and my origin. I am Latin American but I have lived in the US for most of my life and I have NEVER seen such bigotry. Shame on this person. He is a short guy with blue eyes. You'll know him because he seems to be the manager or owner. read more

We came after a long wait in line for the Louvre in the cold rain. The kindest gentleman Cyril (we later found out was the owner) helped us. We did not know that at a certain time lunch stops being served to our surprise after being sat. Cyril personally made Crouque Madame's that were amazing (not because we were hungry). We had delicious cocktails and the best crepes he suggested the caramel and salted butter divine!! Definitely recommend! Excellent service!!! read more

We had a surprisingly delicious meal here on a rainy day. The waiter was very kind, and told us about the history of the place and it's name (in Spanish and French!). I had a wonderful salad and my friend had a beef dish. We left full and happy. I loved the ambiance of this place! read more

As a student studying abroad, I had a wonderful experience here! I had the "Assiette Saint Honoré" which was a type of roast beef dish. 10/10 would recommend! Delicious! Wonderful people, great food, awesome service! Cheers! read more

such a strange little place but the ambiance had such a weird retro vibe, that we dug it. we both opted for specials of the day: roasted chicken & bacalhau which were both delicious & hearty. service felt very warm & personal despite the fact that it was pretty bustling at the bar (we were in a booth). it was a perfect place to get comfort food. read more

Ate there twice on the Saturday before we left. Very close to the louvre and is totally authentic verses the corner pier 39 cafes. A very nice gentleman runs the place. Was very accommodating first thing in morning, he had just opened up and here we were very hungry... so he obliged and made a croque madame. and espressos. Active place as people walk in and buy their tabac drink their espresso. My french is horrible, and while they didn't speak outstanding english they made every effort, and we felt comfortable. (Note: If you want a table you have to buy food, cannot just buy drink) On the way back from the louvre we need to recharge so we had a nice chacuterie and cheese plate and a super bottle of inexpensive cotes. Again very good ambiance, service and close to the route you would walk for the major attractions. read more

Dodging the rain drips (yes, not drops) .... we wandered in for a drink. The server behind the bar was delightful, her English not good - our French not good. We laughed as I tried to describe 'Bloody Mary', but when I saw grapefruit juice, my overjoy of pairing it with vodka ... was the way to transcend all language barriers! My partner in crime enjoyed the 1664 beer, and we spent an hour just enjoying this age-old establishment. read more

Wow. The employees are fabulous, the food old fashioned and inexpensive and the customers are a true slice of Paris, from workmen to delivery men to shop girls to suits. We really enjoyed ourselves. I especially enjoyed my conversation with the cook about making tartare and the different sizes of capers. Thank you! read more
