I went here to grab some car parts and have their small engine mechanic take a look at my stihl 020T (old climbing chainsaw) Getting car parts was easy. I do understand some of the other complaints about customer service and feeling ignored when you enter the facility. Most of the employees don't seem like they care about customer service. Now the reason I gave 2 stars was after waiting fir almost a week to hear about the diagnosis of my climbing saw (could be backlogged, no big deal) I began a game of phi e tag with the mechanic. I'm not a fan of the game so I went in to ask what the status was. I was told I needed a new carburetor and that would be about $170. I asked for my saw back amd when it was brought out, it was. A fee pieces, the linkage to the carburetor was off and the throttle body open to contaminants. So my saw in a few pieces, not being cared for, and handed back to me like a child is the reason for my review and why I will head back to Hill Country Outdoor Power for future chainsaw repairs. ​ read more

Took my John Deere to get it repaired. Told him it wasn't getting any spark. So instinctively he changed the fuel pump. He then kept running the starter until he burned it up. He wanted to charge me $250 for a $48 dollar part, that he ruined. Working on it myself I noticed some oil spray coming from around the fuel pump. I took it off and found the threads were stripped and most of the old gasket was still there. Do not take your machines to them. read more

Don't bother with these people. I've been a customer for over 10 years and will never go back. Bought a Cub Cadet riding mower. Needed a belt replaced (simple repair). Was told it would take two weeks. Fine. However, I live 30 minutes away. I brought the mower on my lowboy. I was told that I couldn't leave the lowboy there during the repair. Again, fine. But, I had to go to work. I asked if I could leave the trailer there for a few hours and get it on my way home. The kid working there said, "No.". When I asked for a manager, he said that he is the manager. For those unfamiliar with this place, they have a ton of land/space. It would not have been in anyone's way. I had never seen this person in there before, but it's not an issue because there are plenty of other businesses that compete with A-Line. My Blanco County neighbors have all quit going there recently, but I was trying to form my own opinion. Opinion is now formed and you've lost not only me, but anybody in my orbit as a customer. read more

This would be Rooster's first attempt at a "filler" review. You know like that extra piece of bread on a Big-Mac? The heavy handed fistful of lettuce that your local sandwich artist throws on your 6 inch at Subway? This my fellow Yelpers is my motivation. What do you honestly say about an auto parts store that's the size of a South Austin food trailer? The light bulbs were arranged perfectly! My muffler was flawlessly displayed! My 10w-40 was a delight! I'm running out of merchandise at this point. A few days ago I noticed that I had a headlight out on the ranch truck. I dropped by A-Line to get a replacement bulb and the bulb connection which had fried. I was in and out and the problem was fixed for under $20. End of story...or is it? I'm getting close to my 200th review here on Yelp. It's Rooster who is throwing the lettuce in today. I'm just excited I guess. Should I go for Perry's? How about Ruth's Chris? Trulucks! I wrote my previous review of A-Line Dripping Springs a couple of years ago, back when they were in their much smaller store. When they expanded to the old Ace hardware building in Dripping, I had high hopes for improvements. And, granted, the array of parts and stock on display ihas been a vast improvement over the former location. Initially, though, I have to say that I didn't see much change in the rather cavalier attitude most of the employees exhibit toward the customers, with a couple of exceptions, most notably Lucio, who is always eager to help, willing to do research, and is seriously knowledgeable about car parts in general.. When I heard that O'Reilly's would be opening up down the street, I honestly thought I'd never be going back to A-Line again. And, in fact, I did and do visit the new O'Reilly's store on occasion. However, after a few times coming away empty-handed (or being shocked at their prices), and then finding the part I needed down the street at A-Line, I have found myself back to using A-Line as my primary go-to parts store. They say competition can be a good thing, and that certainly seems to be the case in our town. Miraculously, after so many years of walking into A-Line and being ignored as I searched up and down the aisles for a part , I've started noticing that the guys (and gals) behind the counter are actually venturing out now and again, offering assistance.. Wow! Even the manager has waited on me a couple of times, and even speaks to me on occasion (thanks Whit). Here's what I see... if you want to buy a chrome thingamaditty for your whatchamacallit, then maybe O'Reilly's is the place to go, for they certainly do have the glitzy displays of all those ruby-encrusted shift knobs, and rows and rows of waxes and polishes. But... if what you really want is the correct part for your vehicle, at generally the best price anywhere in Austin, then A-Line is the place to go. And, of course, you'll be supporting an Austin-area business, rather than feeding the coffers of yet another mega-corporate outfit. I spend a lot of time working on my collection of classic cars, and average 3-4 visits a week to A-Line. And when I ask for a specific part by description, they don't waste my time or theirs asking what year and make the car is, because we both know it won't be in the catalog. Lucio at the front desk has on numerous occasions tracked down obscure parts for me while the young kids at O-Reilly's would still be scratching their heads. If they don't have a part in stock, it can almost always be there the next morning, or maybe later the same day. To me, those qualities are the makings of a truly useful auto parts store. I've upgraded my previous rating to a four star now, and wish I could make it a fiver, but I still see room for improvement. Come on guys.. I may be off base on this, but I do believe that cheerful and attentive service to customers is the key to success in any retail business. There is a reason that giant Walmart has someone at the door greeting every customer. Sure, everyone knows they are being paid to do that, but it does give you a slightly better feeling when you walk in the place. And, I'd be willing to bet that Walmart gives specific training to all their personnel, such as: "When a customer walks in, put down that newspaper or magazine you were reading, get off the phone to your boyfriend, and stop the grab-ass with your buddies behind the counter, so that the customer feels that his needs are the only thing you are interested in". It's not rocket science, and it doesn't even cost anything extra..just plain common sense! At any rate, thanks A-Line for the significant improvements I've noted during the past 6 months. read more

Not much in the way of auto parts. The "outdoor power" stuff is ok, but a drive to Cedar Valley is usually a good bet. Add the fact that they put up the useless 30:06 signs (the fine for violating is about the same as a parking ticket.) means that I will never darken their door again. read more

Ivan-the-terrible strikes again Had our Cub-Cadet walk behind string trimmer tuned-up at A-line in the Spring; left it there for 6-weeks. Used it over the weekend, and it seems the new carburetor that was installed was not installed correctly, as the unit only ran at one speed--idle. So, will now have to take it back over there to have it serviced again. No bueno. read more

Had a sick Stihl chainsaw that I took in to leave for repairs. Counter guy took it in back to just take a look since repairman is out for a bit. They were able to get it running after a few minutes. Could have just as easily kept it and charged me but made the extra effort and have another satisfied customer. I always get my chains sharpened and auto applies there. Good guys!! read more

When you know the difference between gas and diesel when I call and ask for glow plugs, then I think an auto parts store in this day and age deserves a 5 star rating. I am from out of town, but had to go in here 3 times for different parts on my project truck and they were knowledgeable, helpful, and very affordable. I wish you guys were close to me back home. I took my Echo trimmer in to the shop. It would start but would die after about 10 seconds. They charged me $40 to check it in and diagnose it. About 10 days later the guy calls me and tells me it had bad gas. What a bunch of BS - I had just purchased new gas and put it in. He then quickly changed his story. Why i paid these guys $40 to come up with an inaccurate diagnosis is beyond me. It is my opinion that these people are either incompetent or liars. In either case, I know I certainly will not be using their services in the future. read more

This is absolutely the worst auto parts store I have ever been in. Very poor customer service and rude employees.The girls behind the counter ignored me for the better part of 15 minutes. It's no wonder this place is always empty. And after paying nearly $5 for a $2 quart of oil I will drive into the city before I give these people any more of my money. read more

If i could put 0 stars i would. the first time i went in their a old man was very rude to me, i went back a coulple more times because it is about three min away from my house the next closest place is twenty five min away. I have stayed away and yesterday i needed a donut for my 1968 ford xl with a original 302 i told them they told argued with me saying that they didnt make a 302 in 1968. After we argued he then laughed with a co worker and said it came out in 1978. the donut was 2 dollars and something i gave him a twenty he gave me two dollars in quarters and when i said i gave him a twenty he gave me a messed up look and said are you sure? i was very polite and said yes sir he said thats right you did and gave me my change. they are rude dont know anything about cars and try to cheat you out of money. my dad has also had bad experiances their. read more
