I've gotten compliment after compliment on my "rig" as well as being initially offered $70,000 for my 9-year-old ride before the person realized it was just a decade old 4Runner souped up by 4 Wheel Parts Austin. Let me tell you what I appreciate most: service. You'll notice I haven't written a Yelp review in a decade, but these guys deserve it. If you've ever worked in business with a proper team dynamic, you'll recognize it too. I discussed what I wanted to do and asked if it was even possible with my setup. He helped me create a reality from my vague descriptions. I only first chatted with him when my two-day install was going later into the evening. This place talked me into buying a crazy expensive jumper pack to jump start a car. After all they stamp their name in big bold letters on everything they make, so why would they make junk with their name on it? Turns out it's cheap Chinese junk and won't hold a charge after 3 months of use. Called the store back and I was told they quit carrying the enterprise jumper packs and had switched to a different brand called NOGO because theirs aren't as good. I talked to the person for another 20 min and he said they can return it for a store credit towards another one. Ok I'm down for that I said and they ordered another one. I told them I would cover the difference if they would order the bigger heavier duty one since this one crapped out so easily. 2 days later called back and of course the story changed. Now the guy said the store manager wouldn't let him return it without the original receipt. The receipt printed on thermal paper that was no longer legible since it was left in the car. I asked why because they were able to easily look up and see the sale recorded in the computer. He said it's because his manager said no and that was the last word. Well manager let me tell you that when you put your own company name on a product that does a few months later and don't stand behind it the last word gets stamped on the internet. Along with your poor customer service.

I frantically googled for a place in Central Texas that works on hybrids, and Yost came up. They managed to get me in for a diagnostic first thing in the morning Monday 23 December. I was worried that it might be the EGR valve -- a common occurrence in second gen Volts -- but by lunchtime they'd found out that the problem was a much more prosaic oil leak. They patched the leak, changed the oil, and degreased the engine to make sure there was no further damage. There wasn't, and so my car was fixed by 3:30 pm that day, and I picked it up the next morning. Got a same-day diagnostic and repair on a holiday week and the total bill came to $297.80. If you need a diagnostic and repair for your hybrid car, I can't recommend Yost highly enough.
