First off, the humidor is huge, nicely arranged, and well maintained. Humidity felt just right. There is a HUGE selection, and it's arranged well to let you browse comfortably. There are standard basics, a good selection of inexpensive house sticks, and lots of premium cigars. There are also a few you don't often see in stores. The prices are lower than many of the stores in the city. I was surprised by that. In fact some were priced just a little over mail order pricing. The house sticks are super-cheap, and so far the one I've smoked was very good. Not in the class of the super-premiums, but far better than most generic cigars. This is well worth a visit if you're cruising between CA and AZ. Oh, and since it's in AZ you avoid the ridiculous cigar taxes in CA.

I came in here because they're advertising they're selling live bait As soon as I walked in I just said hello and asked if they had any minnows. The girl behind the counter just said no and a flat tone and that was it. Then the other guy in there mixed ethnicity with short hair says we have goldfish. But if I don't have my own container they charge $5 for a container. All I said was dang. Then he said to the girl $6. The girl then said to me smuggly now it's $6. I just shrugged it off and asked her does she know if goldfish work for Bass and she said I don't know anything about that. I then asked her about the artificial worms they had she said I don't know anything about that either in a rude voice. I asked her how could she talk to a customer like that. She said well you don't have to buy it if you don't want to and I said this is ridiculous. She handed me my $5 back and took the worms. She said there you go "you get what you deserved". I was so mad all I could do is just sit in the car and stare for a few minutes then I seen the owner in this front yard and I asked him how he could let his employees talk to people like that. He said he would talk to her but he didn't offer to give me any worms. Thank God I found a gas station just around the corner on the way to palo Verde park. And Quartzsite is no different. In the 70s some hippies took a break from following The Dead around and journeyed out to see "The World's Biggest Rock Festival." Little did they know, that the kind of stones in store were more mineral and less rolling. *bah dump bump* (Thanks to Mr. Jensen for the joke I've used for going on 15 years.) And, since I know you love to hate the yelpers that just tell a long preamble story before they write a review, another gift for you is that this story is the only thing that came to mind when in the spring of 1999 a friend told me Beck was going to be playing in Indio. "Like INDIO, Indio? Is this another 'rock festival' joke? In any case, as a kid I always looked forward to the big PowWow weekend in January. I didn't realize at the time, or maybe it didn't happen at the time, but there are vendors here all winter long. There aren't as many as there used to be, but it's still worth a stop if you're into weird old stuff, including random musings by Canadian snowbirds. From November to February you'll find loads of snowbirds here selling things out in front of their RVs. What sorts of "things" you ask? Well, clearly, there are rocks. And if you like rocks or geodes or... well... quartz, this is the place for you, my friend. Personally I'm more about the aforementioned rolling variety of stones, what really gets me going at The Main Event is the antiques. SO MUCH OLD STUFF!!! Perhaps it's because I was blessed with an old lady's name, but god dammit, how I love me some old stuff. Old bottles. Old rollerskates. Old plates. Old tools. Old books. Old photos. Old lunchboxes. Old cookie jars. Aside from a select few vendors who are clearly out of their minds, the prices just stomp on the prices from your local vintage store or flea market. The selection.... well, you may have to hunt, but that's truly the fun of a place like Quartzsite. Bring some closed-toed shoes, cash, your haggling skills and some shopping bags and get ready for a shopping experience you won't soon forget.
