While the price is pretty high, the complexity and presentation of their bowls make it worth a visit. Their bowls are made with premium ingredients and just taste healthy. The fact they take time to make it look special is just another reminder that it's okay to pay a bit more to get a bit more.

Mango chia pudding and Santorini blue smoothie

Got treated here after run club and it was great!! I highly recommend the blue smoothie- it was so filling and delicious. The chia pudding lacked a little sweetness but I'm not sure if that's bc I had it right after the smoothie which felt naturally pretty sweet. I ended up adding a little honey to my chia pudding to make it sweeter- but that's just my preference! They seem to have many healthy food options that looked really good, I'll def be back!

Menu is fun and full of delicious items. I got the El Burrito and it was fantastic. The whole vibe is adorable and open. Only downside, not very willing to accommodate for allergies, but willing to upcharge you for a different item instead.

    Vegan Buddha wrap

Trying this place today for the first time. Had an appointment at Kaiser San Marco and this place is just across the road. It has several vegan options. You can get a prepared dish or a build your bowl. I went with the vegan Buddha Wrap. It was very delicious with very fresh and crunchy vegetables. I got a side of chipotle sauce to go with it. There are several sauces you can get on the side. I washed it down with a strawberry sea moss lemonade. It is very lightly sweetened for those that do not like too sugary drinks. They have other cold pressed options available. You will not find soda on the menu. Hubby went with the build your own bowl. He had a base of quinoa and beans and went with vegan steak for the protein and added 6 sides. You can pay for more sides or extra protein. The "meat" was super tasty. The vegetables crisp and fresh. He said it was the best bowl he ever had. Coming from him that is a very big compliment. The GPS didn't quite bring us to the door. The sign is up high but we did find it. The inside is light and airy. You use a self service kiosk to place your order. It is a large screen that is very user friendly and easy to read. The prices for the quality of food was on par for the area. The staff were friendly. We definitely will be back.

You updated your hours today, after my review. This is a tragic look for the establishment.

Place is never open when it says they are open. Don't bother calling either, they never answer the phone. I mean, if they cannot even get their hours of operation correct, do you really think they are being diligent with your food? I am not willing to risk it. They updated their hours after my review and fabricated some elaborate story. The magnitude of their response is very telling. All you had to do was apologize for not updating your hours in yelp and I would have wrote it off as an honest mistake and deleted the review and I still will. Or you can keep doubling down with your made up stories , keep the 1 star review, and the screenshot showing you updated the hours after I complained about it. The choice is yours.

    Miami Cuban Bowl

This restaurant located in the North City area of San Marcos is an absolute gem. The wide variety of dishes that they curate, especially the bowls, is incredible, and the service is outstanding. Despite arriving right at closing in my most recent visit, they welcomed me in and took my order with smiles on their faces. The prices might seem a little high on paper but the portions are so bountiful that one delicious Miami Cuban bowl (my personal favorite) typically lasts me two meals so it is well worth it. So glad they are here. I highly recommend stopping by and checking A Lo Fresco out if you are anywhere in North County. Doug (local resident)

A Lo Fresco recently opened near CSUSM. I was so excited to try this place! I ordered a surf and turf burrito, so delicious! The owner was extremely nice, she explained the menu options when we walked in. Cute restaurant, nice indoor and patio dining areas!

You shouldn't have any trouble finding free street parking. There will likely be other food trucks nearby so make sure you're at the correct one. Some of the prices on the menu are so high that I honestly wondered if the amount shown was in pesos. Choose carefully when you order or you just might get a really good single taco for 15 bucks. We tried a fish taco, a shrimp taco, and the Mar Y Tierra burrito (shrimp and carne asada). The fish taco was good-sized but nothing special. The shrimp taco is very large and it's very delicious. I could down a few hundred of these in a competitive eating contest. The Mar Y Tierra burrito is a huge beast. I thought the shrimp was overcooked and the meat was just ok. But the flavors in this burrito were terrific. I would order it again if I wasn't powering down shrimp tacos. Service was very friendly and we only waited about 5 minutes for our food. There are a couple of tables near the truck if you want to eat there and enjoy the nasty view. Otherwise, you can just get takeout. By the way, some of the hot sauces here, which come out of squeeze bottles, are positively satanic. And they are all unmarked, of course. I still devoured all of them. I can't give them 5 stars because the prices of some of the items are simply insane. Four stars seems right.

Our protein choices for our Tacos or Quesatacos were Birra, Carne Asada or Pollo. Rice and Pinto Beans were provided as sides. I chose one each birria and carne asada quesatacos with a side of beans. I topped the tacos with grilled onions, cilantro and a squeeze of lime. I also added a grilled serrano pepper. The carne asada was juicy and flavorful. The corn tortilla was piled high with the carne. The tortilla was great quality and delicious. The birria was not served with a side of consommé for dipping, and honestly, it didn't need it. The shredded meat was so juicy. The cheese pull from the queso was exquisite. Can a cheese pull be exquisite? Yes. Yes, it can. The beans were very good. I love spicy food. I love the heat. That said, the serrano melted my face! Whoo! If you see La Cocina Del Abuelo around town, stop and enjoy a taco. I highly recommend it.
