Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon it wasn't busy. I ordered the torta de pavo (turkey) and an agua fresca. The torta was bomb! So refreshing and just want I needed. The agua fresca de piña was the cherry on top. There were other flavors like cucumber and watermelon. There's lots to choose from, the menu is extensive, so many options of ice cream and paletas. It was my first time here so I will definitely be back to try something else. The inside was very clean and I think it was the owner that was working that day. She was very nice and welcoming. If i could give 0 stars I would. There is a horrible stench as soon as you walk in...so much so that my nephew who is 6 was like eww it smells bad in here. Whatever, we proceeded to be helped by an older lady who as we walked in she sighed in irritation since she had just sat down. The paletas look like they've been sitting there for months & the ice cream in the tubs wasn't fully frozen it was somewhat melted. This is the best sandwich place ever. They make a GIANT turkey torta that will literally rock your world. I bring a lunch to work every day and don't eat it and go here because I can't help myself. This is a great little mexican dessert joint hidden away in a strip mall with PHENOMENAL customer service. The menu is almost entirely written in spanish, but don't worry if you've forgotten all your spanish from high school - the family that runs the shop will help translate and explain everything. They do popsicles (both water and milk based), ice creams, and a whole bunch of other adventurous things like tostilocos (what is that you ask? it's an explosion of fruit, mexican candy, chamoy, chips, peanuts and other fun stuff). Everything I've had there has been excellent and CHEAP! Shout out to Maribel for the excellent service, and the other workers there. The first time we went, one of the gents and one of the ladies were there and didnt speak a whole lot of English, but a smile, charades, patience and google translate goes a long way. they helped explain what a tostilocos was, helped customize it for us since we were iffy on some of the things like the pork stuff and to top it all off, while we were eating our delicious new concoction they noticed the spice was getting to us and gave us some horchata on the house! and it was some of the best horchata ive ever had! 5 stars all around! and did i mention everything is home made?? hope this place succeeds! When I am on the other side of my town shopping this is the place to stop for a treat. Its hidden in a little commercial shopping center so look hard on your left before you drive right past. Its called La Isla on the front of the shop. Its small and empty with an awesome mural when I walked in. They offer the basics of any palanteria but they make it on the spot fresh, and there are items here that are not offered at the other places closer to my house. Yesterday I wanted to try something new so I ordered the tornado, its jicama, pineapple and mango with tamarind and sprite poured over it. Refreshing, light, healthy and delicious. They also offer fresh corn cups with warm off the cob corn, mayo, cheese and melts in your mouth good. I will return when on this side of town, I am most definently a fan! read more

This is a pretty solid place for getting those Mexican antojitos cravings and ice creams. They are getting a whole lot more common with places popping up all over north county. It's located in a not so popular shopping place off rancho Santa Fe rd. I decided to come in and check it out. It's clean, bright and the paintings on the walls were nice. The lady's working there (2) were really nice and helpful, even letting me sample the aguas they had available. I got my daughter a scoop Of her favorite cotton candy ice cream for $1 and for myself an horchata for a dollar and some change. My daughter loved her ice cream and no complaints with my horchata. My cousin also ordered some tostilocos only with watermelon instead of what it usually comes with, and they made it with no problems. I think the place is still kinda new so they just need some more time to get into the flow of things. I didn't like that there wasn't prices listed anywhere for anything that they have on the menu, that probably doesn't matter to most people but for me it does. Also when we were eating we started to smell something nasty, I couldn't tell if it was coming from inside or outside. Other than that it was a good experience and I'll be back. read more

I swear, it's not the pregnancy talking. This place is well worth it!!!! Prices are much cheaper than the other neverias around Vista and San Marcos, MUCH quicker and service is actually friendly here! Oh, they also don't mind spending on the AC system, so you can sit back and enjoy your snack without feeling the need to run out of the place. I got an elote, with everything and bam! Juicy, their spices are on point, and again... cheap ($2.50) I also got Cóctel de Frutas. Fruit was recently cut, nice and fresh. Reasonable amount at a reasonable price. They also offer lunch, like tortas and syncronicadas (the only two I remember). Glad I found this place, l'll definitely come back with my family. read more

I came to buy goodies from this place, which I've been there before and the food was delish service was not so great at that time either but eh! Well, this time, I was waiting in line while there was 2 people working. The older man seemed to be doing all the work while the young girl was there doing nothing. There was a party of maybe 10 people sitting and there was 1 person in front of us. After we got there, 2 more families came in and the young girl decided to help one of the ones that came in after us and the older man helped the other person in back of us. All while we were standing literally in front of the register. We asked when we would be helped and he took my friend's order and then went on to serve the girl in back of us instead of fullfiling our order. It's ridiculous!!
