Don't Go! Unless you like delicious food FOOD: Spicy mission meltburger was hot, juicy, great flavor, just like I was hoping it would be, it did not disappoint. I ordered my husband a triple spicy burger and he loved it. SERVICE: There was a line but it goes pretty quick AMBIANCE: modern, casual and clean

CHEDDAR BACON RANCH FRIES were soggy but delicious. They aren't beautiful but we ate them all.

Five Guys used to be in this location. I was a fan but I found their food somewhat inconsistent. Enter The Melt. Let's start with the good. The burgers are very nice. The patties are thick and tasty. They used real jalopenos, and not those gross pickled things, on my Spicy Mission Meltburger. The bacon cheese fries were goopy but delicious, all the same. If you like mac 'n cheese, the Garlic Chicken Bacon Melt is very good and you won't be bothered by vampires for months afterward. It is very garlicky. Service was very friendly. The sodas at the self-serve soda machine were delicious. Now, let's move to what needs to be improved. They have ordering kiosks up front, although they are not mandatory for ordering. I hate the things normally but appreciate the way you can (usually) easily customize your order. We spent some time at a kiosk and tried to put in an order for three people but, at the checkout, the machine fritzed and advised us to order at the counter (and get a free soda for our wasted time). Ok, then. We then ordered to-go at the counter, which was a little clumsier because the restaurant was a little noisy and the customization of our orders wasn't as easy as at the kiosk. First, we noticed that the bacon we added to one burger was missing from the receipt. We advised the counter fellow and they corrected the issue. Next, we waited, and waited, an waited, and then realized the pager we were given was not working. Come on, now. Did I do something wrong or did they just not like my face? Finally, when we got home, one of our burgers, other than for the cheese, was as plain as a naked baby. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions, which were all listed on the receipt, were missing. The burger was still delicious but come on. If you are going to use kiosks, make them functional. If they are not functional, let's get the order at the counter correct. And let's get those pagers working, if I have to hold one of them. I have no complaints whatsoever about the food quality, which was very nice. The place is on the pricier side but most people will pay for quality. However, there are some real growing pains here that have clearly not been worked out yet. That is an issue.

Glad this location opened in North County. I frequent the Del Mar Location as my son is a fan of their grilled cheese. This location is clean and comfy. Service is excellent and their food is fresh. Having a picky eater as a son is difficult and The Melt makes meals easy for my family. With their great reward system, I don't hesitate to frequent their locations. Be back soon.

We've been here 2x now since they opened. We are fans. The access is easy, never any lines, and it's consistently taste good. The only inconsistent thing about this place is that since being here 2x they tend to forget an item. Our first time was during grand opening week. You order through the tablet upon entering or at the front if you want human interaction. They have reward points to earn. I got their original burger, as is, sweet potato fries. They forgot the sweet potato fries. Luckily we decided to eat there! If not I would have driven home and saw the missing fries. Then the second time, ordered the same burger but added some lettuce, tomatoes and jalapeños. It made it so delicious! However, they forgot the pickle. Luckily Michael was going around checking on diners, and we asked him and he brought the pickle. The burgers are good. The service is good. The workers really try to take care of you. Only thing is to QC your order before leaving. We'll be back!

The Melt is a great spot when you're looking for comfort food with plenty of options for different dietary preferences. I surprised to see vegetarian choices like the Three Cheese Classic, grilled cheese melts, tomato soup, mac 'n' cheese, salads, and even Impossible Burger options for those looking for a meat-free meal. They also offer fries, sweet potato fries, and salads as sides, making it easy for everyone in a group to find something they'll enjoy. Trust me. The food was fresh, flavorful, and served quickly. You can order either at the counter or from the self-service screens, which makes the process quick and convenient. The burgers are high quality and flavorful, and I really like how customizable everything is, you can pretty much create your own meal exactly how you want it. The food was fresh, the service was good, and the restaurant was clean. The sesting area is limited and the tables are pretty close together I look forward to returning to try something new and order one of their shakes!

Swiss 'n' Shroom MeltBurger - Served protein style. No bun made it a bit greasy. Still not too bad.

I've eaten at The Melt down in Carmel Valley and loved it. I'm not sure why I didn't write a review for it at the time, but I have been saved by this new Melt being opened down the street from me in San Marcos. And it is just as good as I remember. Came here with the extended family to share in the joy of a good meal, giving us a group of seven sitting outside, sharing our thoughts and bites. I had the BBQ Bacon Meltburger. It had the right amount of juice without being dripping with grease. The salty and sweet flavors mixed well without one overpowering the other. And the ingredients all held up without anything devolving into a mess. An altogether fantastic burger. My son had the same, eating his whole burger with an appreciative, 13-year old nod and the statement that he could readily eat another. My wife opted for the Swiss and Shroom, having it as a lettuce wrap. Without the bun to absorb excess juice, she found it a bit greasy. But, she still very much liked the flavors. Plus, the pickles were actually full and crisp; a far cry better than the ones we experienced over at Black Tap in Anaheim. And our daughter had a tub of their Mac 'N' Cheese, which seemed to be baked to order in its own little aluminum tub. The finished product was very creamy, had a nice chew to the top crust, and was very tasty. My finicky seven year old, who usually sticks with Kraft or a very select range of outside brands, ate the bulk of it with a bit of praise for her dinner. An impressive feat. Also on the table were some Bacon Cheddar Ranch Fries. Sloppy, but still very tasty. And a good batch of Sweet Potato Fries. All in all, a pretty good dinner for the family. I think our only qualm was the cost. A typical 'cheap' night out for burgers will run us anywhere from $25-$35 for 4-5 people. This place more than doubles that cost, putting it out of the range of a typical night out. Still, it's much better than the Five Guys that used to haunt this spot. And the price tag is still better than many other places we've tried in recent months. As good as our initial attempt here was, I'm sure we'll be back again in the future.

DOUBLE BBQ BACON MELTBURGER GARLIC PARMESAN FRIES
    Justin K.

First time trying The Melt after several trips passing the location. We finally looked up the menu and knew we needed to try it. Initial impressions upon entering was that it was clean, great music, and an upscale QSR. Daisy took our order and was beyond friendly and inviting. Seriously, customer service is 10/10. I ordered the double BBQ burger with garlic parm fries. Service was fast and the patties were seasoned perfectly. These aren't your paper thin smash burgers where you get no value, they're thick and delicious

Came in for lunch since I heard this spot opened. Really good burger spot that replaced five guys. Burger was fresh and really good.

    DOUBLE MELTBURGER
    Heihachiro K.

The burgers are massive and they definitely don't skimp on the cheese. I tackled the double, but it's a total unit--next time I'll stick to a single so it's less of a "giant hunk of meat" situation. Fries are decent enough. Parking is easy. Great spot for a heavy, hassle-free fix.

    ITALIAN JOB
    Anida M.

Just saw what replaced the old Five Guys and couldn't be happier. We stopped by to give it a try and finally settled on the Italian Job and Steak and Cheese melt for our first time at The Melt. It did not disappoint! The spicy garlic bread is perfection! I'm swapping out my bread for this every time! The flavors of the Italian Job are so good, and the Steak and Cheese was so meaty and delicious! I wish they gave a little more mushroom in the Italian Job, but otherwise I'm super satisfied! Ambience was nice and clean, service was quick and overall what you would expect for this type of place. We'll definitely be back!

    David R.

Our first time at The Melt, and it definitely won't be our last! The food was absolutely delicious--everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The service was friendly, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. We had a great meal and left very happy. If you're looking for a tasty burger and a great dining experience, we highly recommend The Melt. We'll definitely be back!

I got a targeted ad on socials that the melt had opened in San Marcos recently. I had an appointment nearby so I decided to check it out, having enjoyed the Del Mar location in the past. It took me a minute to realize it was in the old five guys location. Walking in there are kiosks you can order from but sometimes I prefer to order in person. The girl at the counter greeted me and took my order as a line formed after me. It looked like there was a training going on as there were quite a few staff members gathered together taking group photos in the kitchen. I ordered a grilled cheese, fries and a drink, since I've had their burgers but not tried the grilled cheese. She asked if I'd like it for there or to go and I told her to dine in. She handed me my receipt, cup and a buzzer. It was a little busy but there were tables available. I went and got a drink and sat to wait. After a while my buzzer went off and I headed to get my order. I was a bit confused that my order was handed to me in a big bag since I'd asked for it for dine in, but I didn't say anything. I sat down and pulled it all out of the bag. It looked great and the temperature was perfect. I took my first bite and it was a bit difficult to chew. The cheese was thick and rubbery which surprised me, to the point I could not finish it. The fries were a large portion and were pretty good, but needed salt. When I went to throw my trash away I noticed the trash cans were almost full and I had to push down just to get my bag in. I think they've been open a week? So I'm sure they are still ironing out the kinks. I'll likely go back if I'm nearby but I'll definitely order something else next time.

    Receipt lunch for two $41.71

Working again in an area that I don't know the restaurants so did a Yelp search picked this location, which I found out used to be Five guys Burger location. Looks like they kept the same overpriced menu. Look at the receipt and tell me if you think this is too much for a Double Cheeseburger $15.79 drinking fries separate making it almost $25. The cheese burger was good. I'm not gonna lie but the overpriced 12 ounce drink and Fries along with a macaroni side dish brought lunch to $41. The guy taking my order says that if I write a review, I can get a dessert for free wow then he added if it doesn't get too busy, we go round and pass cookies ...never got mine

Pros: This spot is a good place to hang out if you're looking for a casual bar with activities like billiards and darts. The vibe is fun without being overly packed, which made it easy to enjoy the space. They have darts (which are free, you just leave your ID), a pool table, and a music queue system where you can pick songs to play, which adds an interactive element to the night. I didn't try the food but the drinks were solid and did not disappoint. The overall energy of the place was welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. It's one of those spots where you can relax, hang out, and have a good time. Cons: Parking here is probably the biggest downside. The lot is really small and gets packed quickly, so I wouldn't recommend relying on it. We parked nearby after eating at Copper Kings Burgers and just walked over, which ended up being way easier. Verdict: If you're looking for a fun, chill bar in San Marcos with games, music, and good drinks, this is a great spot to check out. Just plan ahead for parking, but overall it's definitely worth it and I would come back again!

But I can't tell if most people were just in the bar area - we were able to get a booth! The place was nice and loud since every one was having a good time. Several parties of 3+ and I saw 1 party of 6. They were doing an explorer menu from Yucatan. Interesting thing to do during Black History Month - I won't lie. I was surprised to see it. But we ordered from that menu. We ordered the fried plantain that came with a sauce and cilantro, sausage and pepper soup, and the BBQ pork. I enjoyed everything except for the plantain. They were basically a huge disc that was slightly crunchy. I was not expecting that since if I want a crunchy plantain, I will eat actual plantain chips. The soup was fantastic! It was a bit spicy but not overwhelming and full of flavor. Wish I ordered a bowl instead of a cup. And last but not least, the BBQ pork was very good. Served on lettuce as well, so if you are doing keto you can omit eating the tortillas that came with the dish. It also had pickled red onions and a salsa. The salsa was mild and with everything in the taco, flavors were balanced. We also ordered 6 Cajun wings. But today, they didn't seem as flavorful, a pity really. A grilled cheese was ordered but with hamburger meat inside. That seemed good and it came with fries. Washed all of this down with a sour that was called Boozy Berry & my fiancé had a West Coast beer. Food was enjoyable, atmosphere was fun. We will be back again.

We found free parking on the street a block or two down from the restaurant. Service (4/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. A couple of things stand out to me about their service. I was looking at the menu and was about to order. Someone behind me cut in line without asking if I was ready to order. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. On the flip side, they did try and upsell me to add bacon bits to my dish which I was all for until I saw it was a $3.50 upcharge. I asked them to remove it. A little too steep. Ambiance (4/5): My type of restaurant. Casual with some charm. We sat at a table across from the bar. They have some cool decor, too. No complaints. Drinks (4/5): I had a beer flight because I often can't say no to a flight. I love the variety and being able to try new beers, especially when I'm traveling. While they don't have a huge selection, they had just enough beers that were interesting for me to take the plunge. Food (4/5): I did the country poutine which comes with fries, gravy, fried chicken bites, and green onions. I'm a sucker for loaded fries so I couldn't say no. Especially for this twist on a classic poutine. Generous portion size as I had hoped. A little more chicken would have been nice, but outside of that, very solid.

The sauce on the salad was flavorful with just a bit of zest, and they gave us extra so that was really cool. It's a really comfy place to eat with a little bit of a Louisiana feel to it. It created a warm, relaxed vibe that made us want to stay awhile. To top it all off, the staff was absolutely amazing. Friendly, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely happy to see their guests enjoying themselves. You can tell this isn't just a restaurant, it's a place built with heart. We came hungry, left happy, and are already trying to figure out an excuse to "just happen to be in the neighborhood" again. If you're anywhere near San Marcos, do yourself a favor and stop by Felix's BBQ with Soul. Your taste buds will thank you!

I genuinely avoid this place at all costs but I get dragged here by friends and clients. The quality of the food has deteriorated to such a level that it's genuinely inedible. And to top it all off, the last time I came here, they shrunk the menu, took away the side options, and STILL raised the prices. (You aren't struggling because of the quality of your food. This place is just miserable) 3 visits ago, a couple months back, I ordered a burger because tbh, how can you mess that up? I ordered a double patty with no fries. Of course there was only ONE patty left in the entire restaurant, oh well such is life, but to top it off: the patty smelled of rotten sewage. I spit it out and returned it without receiving any sort of refund. 2 visits ago, I ordered catfish nuggets because of my previous experience, and was served soggy fried fish with dripping wet cabbage like it was just pulled out of a colander without drying. Whatever right? ($24 pre tax/tip btw) Now yesterday, I ordered a grilled catfish filet because the fried version was disappointing. (WHICH TOOK 40 MINUTES OF MY LUNCH BREAK TO COOK?) Fish was meh. Over seasoned like someone spilled the pepper bottle on the grill. And the fries tasted like dirty sludge like the fryer hasn't been cleaned in weeks. And to add insult to injury, I tasted mildew in my Coke Zero. Whether it's the dishwasher or the lines in the soda machine I have no clue but how can I strike out every single time I come here? I swear this used to be MY JOINT. The food was so good and the ambiance was amazing. Now I genuinely feel my skin crawl whenever I walk by this place. I'm sorry Felix's do better. I'm incredibly tempted to report this place to the health department to whip some shape into these miserable people who are serving mediocre service to paying customers. The only reason I'm writing this is because I'm now sitting at home with a 101° fever and a swollen tonsil after coincidentally taking a giant gulp of moldy soda? Idk man

The workers check on you at the perfect times, help you understand the menu, and even break down your order and pricing so you know exactly what you're getting. The prices are great and surprisingly affordable. I ended up leaving a $30 tip because I couldn't thank them enough. If you're on a budget, they'll even pull out a Sharpie and write different options and prices right on your table to help you stay within your budget. What other place has service like that? McDonald's? No way. Chick-fil-A? Not even close. The Boiling Crab is an incredible experience, and I would definitely come back again and again. Whether you're trying a seafood boil for the first time or coming back for another visit, this is the place to go. They have all the seafood and sides you could want, and everything tastes amazing. Would you rather spend hundreds of dollars on random stuff from Facebook Marketplace, or about $20 per person for a delicious seafood boil the whole family can enjoy? The food is filling, flavorful, and worth every penny. This place is also perfect for birthday parties. They don't take reservations, but they do have wait times, and you can always call ahead if you're planning something special. I'm actually planning to have my 50th birthday party here with a group of 20 people, and they told me they can accommodate us, which is amazing. I'll be sure to update everyone on how the party goes! Also, my husband is the one who drove me here, and I'm so thankful for him. He's currently fighting stage 4 cancer, and seeing him smile and enjoy a great meal meant the world to me. For a little while, he seemed happier and felt better, and that's something I'll never forget. So, ladies and gentlemen, if you're craving a seafood boil and you're anywhere in the San Diego area--whether you're a few minutes away or even a few hours away--you know where to go: The Boiling Crab. It's a fantastic place for families, friends, and anyone looking for a fun and delicious meal. - Beckett

We ordered the classic burger with avocado and jalapeños and the mushroom Swiss with avocado, both cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The ingredients taste fresh, the buns are soft and toasted just right, and everything comes together exactly how a great burger should. Even the fries are excellent--crispy and seasoned well. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the whole place has a great atmosphere. It's clean, open, and comfortable with a cool modern vibe that makes it a great place to sit down and enjoy a meal. Every visit has been solid. If you're a burger fan, this place is a must.

They have a good selection of beer, milkshakes, and drinks. You order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. It's hard to find a burger place with all my favorites: an egg, bacon, and avocado. The bacon was crispy, the egg was medium and wasn't too runny, and the brioche bread was a little sweet and fluffy. They use angus beef for their patties. You can also split your fries which I love! I got to try the onion rings and sweet potato fries. I wish the sweet potato fries were crispy. They were more on the soggy side. The onion rings batter was a lil thicker than I like. The batter overpowered the onion. We also got the Cajun wings to try which was nice and crispy! They give you a few sauces on the side so you can dip it. I got the ranch which was so good with the wings, fries and burger. The milkshakes are pretty delicious! We got the classic vanilla one. It was a pretty thick shake so you know they use legit ice cream! I also liked the peach lemonade. I would check this place out if you're in the area!
