Right next to Sprouts in the Nordstrom Rack shopping center. We came here to try as it is a new burger joint. You can order at 3 kiosks as you enter or at the 2 registers at the front of the store. I appreciated that they had a screen that shows where your order is in line. We tried the original melt burger, a patty melt, fries, sweet potato fries and vanilla milkshakes. Burgers are yummy. I should've read what went into the burgers because there was a little kick with jalapeños, but it wasn't bad....gave it a nice touch. Both fries were good, but i would say their regular fries were better than the sweet potato. And of course the thick milkshake was delicious. Overall, a great first takeout experience.:) read more

The worst most unorganized service on earth! It took us 40 minutes to get 3 burgers and one fry and of the 8 people behind the counter and in the kitchen, no one had a clue as to what was going on! I've eaten at The Melt down in Carmel Valley and loved it. I'm not sure why I didn't write a review for it at the time, but I have been saved by this new Melt being opened down the street from me in San Marcos. And it is just as good as I remember. Came here with the extended family to share in the joy of a good meal, giving us a group of seven sitting outside, sharing our thoughts and bites. I had the BBQ Bacon Meltburger. It had the right amount of juice without being dripping with grease. The salty and sweet flavors mixed well without one overpowering the other. And the ingredients all held up without anything devolving into a mess. An altogether fantastic burger. My son had the same, eating his whole burger with an appreciative, 13-year old nod and the statement that he could readily eat another. My wife opted for the Swiss and Shroom, having it as a lettuce wrap. Without the bun to absorb excess juice, she found it a bit greasy. But, she still very much liked the flavors. Plus, the pickles were actually full and crisp; a far cry better than the ones we experienced over at Black Tap in Anaheim. And our daughter had a tub of their Mac 'N' Cheese, which seemed to be baked to order in its own little aluminum tub. The finished product was very creamy, had a nice chew to the top crust, and was very tasty. My finicky seven year old, who usually sticks with Kraft or a very select range of outside brands, ate the bulk of it with a bit of praise for her dinner. An impressive feat. Also on the table were some Bacon Cheddar Ranch Fries. Sloppy, but still very tasty. And a good batch of Sweet Potato Fries. All in all, a pretty good dinner for the family. I think our only qualm was the cost. A typical 'cheap' night out for burgers will run us anywhere from $25-$35 for 4-5 people. This place more than doubles that cost, putting it out of the range of a typical night out. Still, it's much better than the Five Guys that used to haunt this spot. And the price tag is still better than many other places we've tried in recent months. As good as our initial attempt here was, I'm sure we'll be back again in the future. read more

Just saw what replaced the old Five Guys and couldn't be happier. We stopped by to give it a try and finally settled on the Italian Job and Steak and Cheese melt for our first time at The Melt. It did not disappoint! The spicy garlic bread is perfection! I'm swapping out my bread for this every time! The flavors of the Italian Job are so good, and the Steak and Cheese was so meaty and delicious! I wish they gave a little more mushroom in the Italian Job, but otherwise I'm super satisfied! I got a targeted ad on socials that the melt had opened in San Marcos recently. I had an appointment nearby so I decided to check it out, having enjoyed the Del Mar location in the past. It took me a minute to realize it was in the old five guys location. Walking in there are kiosks you can order from but sometimes I prefer to order in person. The girl at the counter greeted me and took my order as a line formed after me. It looked like there was a training going on as there were quite a few staff members gathered together taking group photos in the kitchen. I ordered a grilled cheese, fries and a drink, since I've had their burgers but not tried the grilled cheese. She asked if I'd like it for there or to go and I told her to dine in. She handed me my receipt, cup and a buzzer. It was a little busy but there were tables available. I went and got a drink and sat to wait. After a while my buzzer went off and I headed to get my order. I was a bit confused that my order was handed to me in a big bag since I'd asked for it for dine in, but I didn't say anything. I sat down and pulled it all out of the bag. It looked great and the temperature was perfect. I took my first bite and it was a bit difficult to chew. The cheese was thick and rubbery which surprised me, to the point I could not finish it. The fries were a large portion and were pretty good, but needed salt. When I went to throw my trash away I noticed the trash cans were almost full and I had to push down just to get my bag in. I think they've been open a week? So I'm sure they are still ironing out the kinks. I'll likely go back if I'm nearby but I'll definitely order something else next time. read more

I'm happy that we get one so close. I really like the one in Del Mar as well. I ordered on the app. I got free fries off the app. I ordered cheddar bacon ranch fries. They were so heavy and filling, but good. My friend got a Swiss and shroom chicken sandwich. I got the steak & cheese. I really enjoyed mine and especially the pickle. I wish they gave more pickles. Service was good. It looked empty so there were plenty of tables, but we took ours to go. I think the ambience was the same as the one in Del Mar. I went in and out so fast, I don't recall much. The layout is a bit weird since it was adapted from the previous tenant but they did their best to have a large amount of seating within the footprint. Got the Cobb salad with ranch and it was so good! Ingredients were fresh and the chicken was good quality. Portion size was really good, definitely worth the price. Along with the Cobb salad I also got the tomato soup which was really tasty. They had a good variety of sodas to choose from. They have a large selection of burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches and so much more. The store has a really good vibe. Their branding is exceptional. Service was great. I'll stick to the rare occasional shake, at least for Melt. Took my tween here as she loves grilled cheese sammies so I decided to order myself food for myself, also. No qualms from the tween, but my lettuce wrap burger was a mess, unlike other places, but I highly doubt a bunch would make a difference. The meat patty was super greasy and the fries were atrocious themselves being overly greasy. I don't get this amount of grease ay copper kings or In-N-Out who which btw make grilled cheese sammies off menu. My assumption is the facility is using 80/20 beef and not incorporating the grilling rules during and after to avoid unpalatable and messy excessive grease. For those who are minus a gallbladder and sensitive to oils: come with caution. read more

I wish I had taken photos because the burgers and fries were generously portioned. I ordered the single Swiss and shroom melt burger. My husband had the single classic melt burger. We split an order of fries. The burgers were cooked medium and were very juicy and delicious. Cheesy and tasty. If you're a smash burger fan this is not that type of burger. It is a very meaty patty.
