A taco truck that out performs many taco shops. A really good California Burrito. El Habanero makes a burrito just the way I like. They cook the tortilla just a little bit longer, the asada was a little crispier and the friies weren't the typical generic frozen ones. Tip - El Habanero works the Wild Barrel site often.. We have so far only eaten El Habanero while chugging brews at Belching Beaver's Oceanside tap room. Since with COVID restrictions, you need to order food in order to buy and drink beers here, we almost always come when the taco truck is here. Compared to the other vendors (hot dogs, gyros, BBQ, etc), you can't go wrong with a good taco. El Habanero has a variety of other options too, and they include two sauces with every plate (green mild and spicy habanero). The nachos and carne asada fries come with heaping portions so be sure to share your food with your buddy! read more

Great folks & spicy fare. I can't eat the hot stuff anymore, but for those who can I definitely recommend these folks. They have a truck that comes to my apartment complex some days and their service is very quick for a small truck experience. I've tried the surf & turf burrito and the chipotle mayo is definitely spicy. My second visit I tried just a carne asada burrito but it definitely lacked a punch too. I haven't tried their salsa because I cannot tolerate hot stuff anymore but I assume it's also got hotness. The service is always with a kind smile. Great people. I had the pleasure of trying El Habanero last night during the Cinco De Mayo event in Harmony Grove & WOW... Seriously, Wow. I ordered the rolled potato tacos without cheese & sour cream with 2 veggie street tacos & everything was absolutely delicious. The guacamole was soooooo spicy but also delicious so I was caught in the tango of dip or don't dip lol My friends ordered carne asada nachos, surf & turf tacos, quesadillas, & more things I don't remember (they had a big spread) & all you heard were collective "mmmm's" from everyone. I ran into the owner of this food truck while picking up some tamale masa at a nearby tortilla factory in San Marcos. He was so personable and polite while prepping his truck that I promised to find him and give his food a try. I'm so glad I did! On Tuesdays, the truck is at Wild Barrel Brewing in San Marcos. I went for the street tacos because, hey, it's taco Tuesday, and I didn't need to bother the brewery to get to the truck. The owner was there and again was super nice. After I ordered a few of every type of taco, he recommended his surf 'n turf burrito, so I got one and eagerly escorted it home with my tacos. My expectations were pretty average since there's a lot of Mexican food out there and competing qualities. The burrito was absolutely, unequivocally wonderful! The flavors melded together seamlessly without any one overpowering another. The shrimp was cooked to perfection, still flavorful and juicy. This will become my go to burrito in the future! For tacos, I'd recommend the adobada and carne asada fillings as the most flavorful. Give this food truck a try and support a local business. You will walk away full, not too much lighter in the wallet, and feeling appreciated. read more

Great food truck in San Marcos! When we went here they were located at Wild Barrel Brewing, right outside their outdoor seating. The guy taking the orders was super friendly, took our orders quick, and made sure we got what we needed. My boyfriend and I got the chicken quesadilla with pico, jalapeño fries, and California burrito. Each was great and had a ton of food which was definitely worth the price. Our community hired Erick and his team to deliver over 400 dinner plates over a 3 hour span. Erick was incredibly easy and professional to work with, accommodating, prompt in reply, would actually talk via phone and not just through email (a rarity these days) and was fairly priced. Super delicious food!! Erick came to our neighborhood and made food for all of us. (Our neighborhood is not small!) Our family had all different types of tacos and we loved every bite. I almost never take the time to review places but my goodness were these guys worth giving a shout out to. In the last six months it felt like a lot of my favorite Mexican places went downhill in quality and up in price but these guys were both delicious and affordable. My wife got a veggie burrito and claimed it was the best she's ever had while I got the Asada burrito and was blown away. Super friendly team that take pride in what they do. I just found out they come into my neighborhood every Wednesday and they will be penciled in on my dinner schedule moving forward. Also, my daughter got the kids quesadilla and it was ridiculously good, so much that I may order one myself next time. And the churros are authentic and just perfect. In San Diego we have a ton of Mexican food to pick from. I have eaten at this food truck many times. I am super picky on cleanliness and how a food truck is ran. So many getto ones around. I have eaten the chicken tacos with red sauce. Just enough spice to kick some ass. Fresh tortillas and simple chicken with lots of flavor. My favorite off all is the chicken nachos. Homemade chips with the fixins. I have to do dairy free and they are always accomidating. You ask yourself, how can nachos be good with out sour cream or cheese??? Well these ones are and it is a rarity. Makes me feel a little normal. The man and women running the truck are very polite and never get irritated when i have to do no dairy. Much appreciated!! My only complaint...I have NO idea where they are. I have only found them at burguon brewery. They need to update their website so that i can follow them.
