My car died in my driveway on a work night. I felt that having it towed to a shop would be unnecessarily expensive so I searched for a mobile mechanic. Despite all the claims of 24-hour service, Mobile Car Doctor was the only one to actually answer the phone. Ben gave a preliminary diagnosis over the phone, then confirmed it when he arrived as scheduled later in the day. Well i would like to start off with that i was recommended this auto shop from my father. Whom if i am not mistaken was friends with the owner for years. However, I have had multiple cars serviced by this small business such as my 1996 Saturn and my 2012 Toyota. Along with my father's Toyota Tundra I have many relatives and friends use this same service and each time I have heard nothing but good things. This is a small auto shop based in Stafford in the outskirts of Houston on the central south west side of town directly down 90 west. Yet, they do offer mobile visits and appointments which are fairly reasonable no matter the distance! I will say that the service you get is adequate for what you are paying! I love that the staff has years of experience and are straight forward! With the pandemic going on I have used this company twice and, honestly one visit was more pleasant than other however my car is running better than ever! The first time during the pandemic they came to Pearland from Stafford to change my stripped lug nuts for a very competitive rate compared to an AAA call. The second time, during the pandemic just to reiterate, was for a change of my battery terminal something minor and, granted the service, I feel, I received was lackluster compared to prior appointments and emergencies. I still got what I needed nonetheless! I feel these types of mom and pop shops are becoming more precious and rare to come by! Thanks to the Coronavirus more of them are closing at an even more astounding rate! We have to support and give feedback to our small business owners especially if you want to see them simply service the community. During my last visit I expressed my concerns without seeming entitled and worked out for them to let me to return and replace the terminale if needed since the one I bought originally was not the same, as what I had previously, but they made it work, and I've been rolling ever since without any problem! I feel like plenty of people look for the small business solutions but have nowhere to look and sometimes Google and yelp reviews aren't as honest or in depth as they could possibly be. However, I am here to say This mobile mechanic shop is definitely worth investing your dollars in seeing that they are in an up-and-coming developing yet historic neighborhood and have had years of business under their belt. Another thing to contribute is the fact that the staff although may not have the white glove customer service you may receive at other establishments or even dare to say it more expensive and or nicer shops and yet, they still give it to you honestly and with integrity but, most importantly they hold their word to their business! My car is at that age where it's not worth it to take it to the dealership anymore. I found these guys through my fiancé and his family - they've used Mobile Car Doctor for years. My alternator died, battery needed to be replaced, etc. They were very helpful in explaining future issues that I'll need to address at some point without making me feel like it had to be done immediately (which is great because you can only drop so much cash on your car at one time). They're reasonably priced, very professional and personable. I highly recommend these guys. Top notch. Hours: 7:30am-6pm M-F (not sure if they're open on Saturday but they might be). read more

My son accidentally did not completely tighten up the gas cap after filling up the gas, we had no idea that resulted 2 lights (including a 'Check Engine' light) came on in the dashboard of the car. Called this experienced mechanic to help check the problems, Mr. Ben ran the diagnosis machine and solved the problems immediately just in 10 minutes, no repair is required, very honest. He also helped check the motor oil level & coolant level altogether, only $45 for mobile car service was paid. Very pleased with Mr. Ben's honest skillful car repair services, would like to recommend to everyone. read more

It's a small shop and may not look like much but the employees and their service speaks Volume to their credibility. To begin, the office manger Rico was tip top. Extremely polite , patient and thorough in finding the solution for the fix and solving it. He's very much about customer satisfaction . I called ahead jsut to make contact and few hours later when I took it in, he found the time to thoroughly discuss my car . And after discussing possible solutions for the fix, he gave me a good and honest quote and that was exactly what I had ended up paying. No hidden or unexpected fees . And the best part is I received my car back the very next morning . Not to mention they have a great credit company they work with called SNAP, which was extremely helpful for us especially being right at Christmas time , so I would be sure to ask about it if you are strapped for cash but need work done. Always a 5 star experience! Rusty and his team are the absolute best! Honest, straightforward, knowledgeable...everything you want in a car repair facility. I went in with my older car, mentally prepared to spend hundreds of dollars on repairs. Rusty could have easily agreed to the repairs I mentioned, but he let me know that almost all of the repairs I mentioned were not necessary or critical at the time. I was charged an extremely reasonable price for the work that was done (far lower than another shop a block down the street). I was able to get my car in and out in less than 90 minutes, even as a walk-in at lunchtime during the week. Very rare to find a shop that has the integrity/ moral compass that Rusty displays. I have a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan that was misfiring with an engine code. So I had PepBoys do a tune-up replacing spark plugs and wires for about $250. Took van and drove it for less than a day and the misfirings were still there. I took the vehicle back and PepBoys said that they did NOT do any diagnosis for the misfirings but rather did exactly what the customer suggested, a tuneup. So, I paid for the $90 diagnosis and the incompetent mechanics said that I needed to replace the entire engine because it had a burnt valve. SO, I drove the van all the way to A Mobile Car Doctor Stafford TX and had Ben the owner take a look at the van. Ben's diagnosis for free was bad fuel injector. A Mobile Car Doctor replaced the bad fuel injector for $200 and the van has been running great without any misfires at all. PepBoy's burnt valve diagnosis was WRONG. RIPOFF. A Mobile Car Doctor is only open M-F, but it is worth the wait to have Ben and his team work on my vehicles. read more

I had a problem with my 2007 ford diesel truck starting up. Had my car towed there because was told they have a good diesel mechanic. I had coming in, aware of the car giving a p2287 code, intermittent pressure control, the ICP . Rusty diagnosed the problem immediately and sure enough, it was my ICP sensor. He know his stuff and unplug the ICP connection and car started up. He mentioned that this is the easiest part to fix on the diesel truck. He ordered motorcraft ICP part and took less than 10 minutes to install the part. I thought great - should not cost much. However, when I got the bill - $379. Listing the part as $272, plus 1 hour labor, tax. Amazon listed the motorcraft part at $25-$35 and genuine ford part $121. Repair work was good, I was in and out in less than an hour. It is not easy to find a good diesel mechanic. I would say kudos on the repair and diesel expertise but I felt cheated on the part price. I got the cheaper part. I would advise buying your own parts at Autozone. read more
