Wow! This place has been a go to of ours for a handful of years now, and last night was no exception. In fact, I went to Yelp this morning to see if I had left a review of this establishment yet and saw that I hadn't. So, just adding that this place is very reliable for an excellent meal! Again and again they always have a strong selection of specials (last night was a panko fried artichoke and sachetti with scallops, oyster mushrooms, crab and shrimp in a mascarpone cream sauce) and they always deliver. It was just okay. I wouldn't go back. My portion of pasta was so small - I had the linguine with clams in a white wine butter sauce. We had mussels as an appetizer and needed a dessert too because I was still very hungry after my dinner. Never a good sign The pasta itself was just okay. It didn't taste homemade or fresh, it just tasted like something I could cook up at home. My boyfriend gave his meal a 6/10 and said it looked better than it tasted. He also had to pay $15 extra for 3 scallops to be added to his rigatoni (it only came with peas and small pieces of pancetta so the waitress asked if he would like to add something extra to his dinner) so it ended up being like a $40 dinner Ok for the shore, but Sea Isle really needs more nicer restaurants that offer italian food with good flavor and larger portions because this place did not cut it read more

Modo Mio never disappoints. Wait staff is top notch. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, they take reservations which is rare at the shore and much appreciated. First time at a modo mio. I was somewhat unimpressed with the meal. The best part of the dinner was the dip that came with the bread. My veal a modo mio had minimal crab meat but the sauce was tasty. There was hardly any pasta with the chicken dish to the point that the chicken completely hide the pasta on the plate which is unusual as pasta is so inexpensive. In 2021 we came for 4 days and we've had 3 out of 4 dinners at A Modo Mio. If you're looking for quality, creative, delicious food, fantastic service, nice ambiance, A Modo Mio is your place! I'm not a huge Italian food lover (I know, I know, how I can even say such a thing, right?), pasta and red sauce is just not my thing. But here, pasta with "gravy" is not your only option. Never wrote a review before, but I need to say what my experience was this evening. Food---- I had a 60$ veal chop, which was the worst I ever had. It was like putting a large piece of gum in your mouth and try chewing just to get it to a level to swallow. My fault I didn't complain at that moment. I just tried to eat it hoping it would get better, it didn't!! . I mentioned it to the waiter he said he would talk to the chef. The chef said they didn't have any complaints before. Then they offered me desert as a remedy, never offering any other, like taking a few dollars off. I will never eat at the establishment again very bad customer relation. Service was great! What started as a very enjoyable three-generation family dinner for 11 people ended abruptly and with great disappointment when the owner/chef asked us to leave. We still had our desserts in front of us and wine in our glasses! There was absolutely no reason for asking us to leave - we were not rowdy or demanding in any way. On our way out, we asked for the reasoning, and they claimed they had a line outside the restaurant - this was not true. There were three tables set and unoccupied when we left - a table set for ten, a four-top, and a two-top; and this was just in our section of the restaurant. After some thought, we figured they must have a time limitation for their tables, but our length of time at the table was no fault of our own. We waited 25 minutes for our appetizers to come out and another 30 minutes for our entrées to come out. If there really was a great need for our table, there was a much kinder and more appropriate way they could have asked - they could have privately spoken to my husband at the head of the table who just paid the nearly $800 bill; but instead, he approached to my son in the middle of the table and rudely told him we had to leave with no other explanation. The whole experience was incredibly disappointing for us, as we frequent both A Modo Mio and La Finestra. My parents are year-round residents in Sea Isle City - we have a short four block walk to A Modo Mio. Needless to say, we will never patronize either of their restaurants again, nor will our extended family and friends. A note to the Chefs Tony and Eric: please learn some manners and appreciate your regular customers who keep you in business! read more

WAS our go-to BYOB place since opening. No more. DO NOT go there with kids under age10 !! We could look past the styrofoam water cups meant for soup takeout... Kids served promptly as we requested - but over 50 minutes later and the adults have no sign of food. Had to get entrees to go ! For the 2nd year in a row, the same server lectures us about food times and different temps for entrees, and it has only been xxx minutes... with attitude ! We chose this place over the familiar La Fontanas of the island, website had a nice spin and seemed worth it. Come to find out the website's menu is probably 3-5 years out of date and the prices were waay off from the menu given to us in person. The sticker shock for basic, not homemade pasta was insane. Everything was $26-$40+. Overuse of marinara, and the most dreaded words on an Italian menu- "garlic wine sauce" aka blah, watery mess. My sausage rigatoni, $28, was literally tasteless. I almost begged for cheese, and pepper. Good thing it came with half of a hot lemon tossed in, that sure added something :| Zero thought to sauce preparation or sauté skills. Menu lacked butter, cheese and cream. Maybe the owner is lactose intolerant? I can and will go on and on and on about this place let's start with Eric. He works his ass off and then there's Joe. He brings a rhythm and have fun sense of humor to the job every day and then there's Maria the first person that put food in front of us. I have lived in South Jersey my whole life and have a house in Avalon. I have passed this restaurant several times but never stopped in. Last night, my boyfriend and I decided to have a date night. We both agreed to try this spot. It was AMAZING. From our waiter to the food, everything was superb. There are few times in life when I truly have a hunger for Italian food when down the shore, yesterday was one of those days. Without hesitation, I decided to take my appetite to A Modo Mio. The menu is large in scope and tough in pronunciation. The outdoor seating also leaves much to be desired, as we were sitting on the sidewalk with no lighting and music, thus no atmosphere. Service was very quick and professional, and the bread for the table was limitless, though my group and I gave it our best shot. Food came out fast and was very yummy. My one gripe though was that my order said it was spicy but neglected to say it was a literal fireball in my mouth. Though I enjoy a little heat, the Liguine Fra Diavolo left me in a pool of my own sweat, gross. All in all, the food here is really good and the staff is amazing. The people that work here are very nice and the service is very good. Our food, however, was not good. They brought out a dish of pasta that was swimming in water. They did not even drain the pasta. We were thrilled to go here for our 6 year anniversary when we were down at the shore for a few weeks after our little guy went to bed. We had a 745 reservation outside and nearly every table was full which is always a welcome greeting. Both of our servers were personable and attentive and our meals were fantastic. I got the crab meat and angel hair in a lemon sauce, and my husband got veal parm after we shared a fried stuffed artichoke special. Came here with my family for a party of 8 for dinner - we were seated in a tight circle table in the corner which wasn't ideal for that many of us. Our waiter kept changing throughout the evening and the table got so crammed with water and wine glasses, plates and food that wine was spilled when the waiter brought us appetizers. The food was pretty good though, different spins on Italian. Smaller portions than other Italian places. I would come back but only with a small group. Have eaten here several times with the food and service always good. This evening, I returned because the restaurant advertised a special for Girls' Weekend of 15% off before 5:30 and after 8:45. We arrived at 5:10. The ad made no mention of take-out or dine-in. The restaurant refused to honor the discount despite me showing them the ad, stating it only applied to take-out. My wife, daughter and I are in complete agreement when I state that A Modo Mio and La Finestra are the two best restaurants in Sea Isle City. When we went this time to A Modo Mio, I had the calamari and my main course was the Dover Sole special. My wife had the Burrata Fritta and then the Papperdelle Al Nonna. My daughter went with two apps, the Caesar salad and Cozze alla Napolitana. The food was great and our waiter and the staff were very friendly and attentive. My wife and I walked out before entrees were brought out tonight because of a culmination of terrible service. We had a reservation for 7:15 and arrived 10 minutes early. The owner(?)/host seemed put out that we had a reservation for outside. We were sat minutes later at a table and I had to untie the table's umbrella and open it up in order to even see my wife. Several minutes later we were offered bread and water and that is all we would have before leaving 30 minutes later. Our server took our order at 7:15 and did not come back to refill waters, check in on us or even check on our neighboring table. The staff seemed to treat my wife and I like we were kids unworthy of eating there. We didn't even get a pitcher of water like the surrounding tables did.
