a plate of mussels, bread, and a glass of wine

The summer specials are divine -- Gorgonzola gnocchis are usually my go to and never disappoint, however the appetizers are always so creative and exciting to try new items each visit. The salad special was a sweet summer salad with strawberries pecans burrata and prosciutto atop mixed greens. This occasion we were among 11 family members and 7 of them ordered and INDULGED in the lobster crab raviolis. Changing my 4 stars to a solid 5!!

It was just okay. I wouldn't go back. My portion of pasta was so small - I had the linguine with clams in a white wine butter sauce. We had mussels as an appetizer and needed a dessert too because I was still very hungry after my dinner. Never a good sign The pasta itself was just okay. It didn't taste homemade or fresh, it just tasted like something I could cook up at home. My boyfriend gave his meal a 6/10 and said it looked better than it tasted. He also had to pay $15 extra for 3 scallops to be added to his rigatoni (it only came with peas and small pieces of pancetta so the waitress asked if he would like to add something extra to his dinner) so it ended up being like a $40 dinner Ok for the shore, but Sea Isle really needs more nicer restaurants that offer italian food with good flavor and larger portions because this place did not cut it

Great Italian food! We just got back from Italy and this pasta is on par with Italy! Highly recommend! We got a few things, but our favorites were the truffle seafood special and the rigatoni alla vodka with peas and pancetta . Also the tiramisu was great!!

Modo Mio never disappoints. Wait staff is top notch. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, they take reservations which is rare at the shore and much appreciated. I ordered the lobster ravioli special, as with any special you never know the price until the bill comes. I imaged this dish to be $100 (worth it) the actual price was $51.

Excellent food. Only negative is they tend to try to rush you. It's byob so we like to have a cocktail before ordering. Even though we told our server this, there was hovering. I don't think it's her fault rather I think this is told to them to turnover the tables as fast as possible

We have discovered this gem last year. We came for a long weekend and ate here twice, the food and service was soooo amazing. In 2021 we came for 4 days and we've had 3 out of 4 dinners at A Modo Mio. If you're looking for quality, creative, delicious food, fantastic service, nice ambiance, A Modo Mio is your place! I'm not a huge Italian food lover (I know, I know, how I can even say such a thing, right?), pasta and red sauce is just not my thing. But here, pasta with "gravy" is not your only option. You can get a short rib dish, amazing filet mignon, fish and sea food, their calamari is the . Last night they had stuffed squash flowers (I think that's what they called it) with prosciutto and cheese, lightly battered and fried.... OMG, if you can taste it, don't hesitate! If you're in SIC, make sure you have at least one dinner at A Modo Mio!

We started off with sharing 2 of the soups which were both very good. The bisque was rich but not overly so. The other soup I call the Italian wedding soup was light yet flavorful. The serving sizes were big enough that we both had enough for another meal. My husband ordered the veal parm which was crispy on the edges and tender in the middle. He would have liked more sauce on it, I would have liked more cheese. However we wouldn't order it again. My dish however was amazing! I had the veal Basilicos which had lump crab meal, artichoke hearts and a couple of shrimp with homemade pasta in a fabulous sauce. I would order this again and again.... The table next to us had pizza which looked really good, I'll need to try that next time. I took a cookie to go, chocolate chip which was soft and full of chocolate chucks, truly finger licking good.

It was definitely not the best seat in the house, but hey, we did show up on a busy July evening! We were seated in the back of the house on the 3rd floor. It would have been great to get the ocean side of the building, but I could still see the ocean from the window near our table. FYI- There is an elevator if you cant do stairs. I had wanted to sit outside, but it was the middle of a heat wave so we chose the air-conditioned indoor table. The indoor temperature was perfect! We were greeted right away, and given menus. The service declined from there, but it was not terrible. The server was just not as attentive as I would have preferred and we waited for things we needed on 2 different occasions. We were surprised to find out it is BYOB. The waiter suggested a nearby liquor store where we quickly picked up a bottle of wine. He gets points for this suggestion! They did not charge an uncorking fee, which surprised us. We ordered an appetizer, one of the salad specials, the Branzino and the seared tuna. The presentation of the meals was very pleasing and the food was excellent. It's very pricey, but the food was delicious and the portion sizes were more than adequate considering the type of restaurant it was. I am still giving this a 5 star rating despite the slight annoyance I felt toward the server's lack of attention. Also, to be fair, he could have been having an off night. (I was a server years ago and you just don't crush it every night waiting tables! Life is hard and I watched other servers crushing it with their guests.) I'm very picky about restaurants and enjoyed this upscale dining experience. I would not recommend this for children( as a mom there are limited choices for littles and its more fine dining than a burger joint) but definitely a great establishment to try if you are interested in paying for good food.

Since I knew it was going to be pricey, I asked for it to be re cooked. After some time it came out, but it was basically raw in the center. I then asked for it to be cooked a little more. After some time, the third try was correct, but by then my wife was finished her meal and my appetite was gone. I had it boxed to go. The bill came and the price of the chop was $70. Ridiculous. What a shame. Since I own property here, I spend a significant amount of time in SIC, but won't be returning here any time soon.

It being a beautiful summer evening helped the whole experience but the service and food exceeded it. We shared the asparagus wrapped in cheese and prosciutto with balsamic glaze. It was delicious and plenty for the two of us. Our server (Betsy) was a delight. Helpful and with just the right amount of attention. A very nice person who treated us like old friends. I had a special. Orange Roughy with bay scallops and a spicy tomato sauce over capellini. The fish was perfect with a slightly sweet flavor and flaky texture. Bay scallops are not my favorites as they tend to cook to a tougher texture with less scallop taste than diver scallops. Probably would have preferred 2 or 3 divers instead. But overall a delicious dinner and would have it again. My wife has some issues with garlic which is tough in an Italian restaurant. She had linguini primavera with just olive oil and cheese and really enjoyed it. We sat outside. The inside was noisier than we prefer. All in all a great byo Italian restaurant and I highly recommend it. You might see us there as we plan to return. Go!

Ambiance: Sole continues to offer an ambiance that you won't find elsewhere in SIC. It's a cool BYOB. Service: Waitress (and runners) was great, very friendly and knowledgeable. Both appetizers and entrees took a long time to come out. A couple of folks at my party mentioned they weren't all that hungry once the entrees came, but no worries, a good bit of take-home. Food: Artichokes - a long-standing menu item here at Sole; however, the execution seems to have changed dramatically (see my previous review for the old pic). The dish is now somewhat heavy and soggy and lacked what we came to love about the dish. It used to be light, crispy, fresh, and the sauce was light but very flavorful. Ok, but not exceptional like before. Oysters Rockefeller: $23 special These were pretty good, but not really a true rockefeller due to longhots. Always love a good oyster, but between price and execution, prob wouldn't get this one again. Appreciate branching out though. Steamed Clams (white): Good clams and great sauce although the clams were not cleaned /soaked/brushed well at all as there was a lot of black grit in the bowl, it changes the bright, clean taste to a cloudy flavor. Wild Boar Veal Pappardelle: Excellent pasta, however, aside from one small chunk of veal, the dish was largely ground meat and not all that much. It came out piping hot although the overall depth of flavor was lacking. (The white lamb dish outshines this special by far) Crab gnocchi: Excellent gnocchi. Unfortunately, the crab was fishy and the dish overall was very salty versus the sweet lump crabmeat flavor that makes a dish like this shine. We really like Sole and the owner usually comes over to the table to ask for feedback, but didn't do so on this night. We'll be back at some point again (maybe a pizza and wine night) because we really like it here. Hopefully this was just an off night. I know it's hard to run a great restaurant and I love supporting all the great SIC ones - cost/prices are high, but it's also important to execute. (Hopefully, they bring back the old artichokes dish - compare the pic and you'll see.)

However, it almost felt like this restaurant was trying its hardest to make me dislike it despite the delicious food. The hostess seemed to forget about us after we checked in for our reservation and seated several other parties that came after us. After about 10 minutes, I went back up to check on our table and the hostess seemed to have forgotten that we spoke earlier and asked me if I needed anything. We were promptly seated after that. Not really a problem by itself. Our server was very nice and did a great job of convincing us to order the pasta special. We put both items in at once and ate the complimentary bread while we waited. We asked to split the two meals, and they were very accommodating and split the salad in the kitchen for us. The pasta came out on one plate and we had to split it ourselves. There seemed to be sauce under the table from a previous diner that got rubbed onto my shirt. I went to the bathroom to clean it off, only to discover there was no soap. There were at least 4 other people in the bathroom at the same time as me, and to think no one coming out had washed their hands was pretty gross. Anyway, the most expensive pasta on the menu was around $40, so I figured the special would be around that price. Complete rookie mistake on my part for not asking the price before ordering, but I was shocked to receive the bill that our plate of rigatoni and 3 shrimp, 3 scallops, and maybe an ounce of crab meat was $56. Other reviews mention this, but please be aware of the absurd markup on the specials before ordering!! It took an hour for our food to arrive and no one came to check on us during that time or refill our waters, and no one came to check on us after we received our food, only when we were ready for the bill. Our server was nice but not attentive. I tipped what I believed to be a reasonable 15%, considering the disappointing service and very expensive special. In fact, it would've been a 23% tip if we ordered the next most expensive pasta on the menu. But anyway, I was under the impression that 15% is an acceptable amount to tip for mediocre service. I was shocked when our server chased us down on the sidewalk outside the restaurant and confronted us. She was upset that we tipped less than 20% (her words). I told her that I was disappointed by the service and price but really enjoyed the food itself. She just walked away. I spent many years working in food service, and the other person I was eating with currently works in food service, and the two of us were appalled by the complete lack of professionalism. It is never acceptable to chase after a customer. You would've thought we didn't tip at all. It's a shame, because the food here really is delicious.
