Was excited to go to a new coffee house, that was until we saw that it was $30 for 2 sandwiches and a drink. The fact that they only filled it up halfway was the icing on top of a crappy drink.

Interior is extremely funky, homey, comfortable with a view of interest anywhere your eye lands.

I stopped in on a lovely early Saturday morning with my fiancé prior to working an event. We were staying at a nearby Inn and needed a quick bite to eat in the morning on our way, so New Leaf was close enough. This literal transformed house was welcoming and cozy. The first floor is the cafe, and littered with points of interest in every nook. The breakfast menu was basic, as expected of a coffee shop. We ordered a croissant sandwich and breakfast burrito, along with two lattes. I ordered a maple latte, because obviously (ADK!) , with an extra shot. The espresso was delicious and the flavored well. The croissant breakfast sandwich was cooked well and had a ton of flavor! Our barista/chef was a man of few words but friendly overall and graciously allowed our pup inside without complaint. The lattes and food were really good and made our morning great in this beautiful town. Do stop by if you are in the mood for a quirky cafe with a good grind.

What a cool funky place. To me this is what Lake Placid is all about. Coffee is excellent. I had a cappuccino with whip cream that was fantastic. Very diverse and interesting breakfast menu. We had the Panini breakfast sandwich with cheese and tomato and it was light and fresh and delicious! Spectacular view of near Lake from the front lawn!

    Dog friendly!

Coffee was weak, breakfast panini was tasteless and the person at counter (owner?) was not friendly whatsoever. Big disappointment.

Best coffee in Lake Placid! Small private lot in the back and great service. They offer a small food selection for a quick breakfast bite.

Really good coffee in beautiful Lake Placid. The only negative is that it's more expensive than Starbucks!

Capisce Coffee & Espresso Bar: A Lake Placid Essential…read more If you're looking for a coffee experience that matches the beauty of the Adirondacks, Capisce Coffee & Espresso Bar is a must-visit. From the welcoming "a place upstate" Adirondack chair out front to the cozy, shingle-sided exterior, this spot perfectly captures that rustic, high-peaks aesthetic. But it's the quality of the brew that truly sets it apart. The Espresso The espresso at Capisce is a masterclass in balance. It's rich and full-bodied with a velvety crema that hints at the care put into every pull. You won't find any bitterness here--just a smooth, complex shot that serves as the perfect foundation for their signature drinks. The Lattes Whether you need to warm up after a chilly morning at the lake or cool down after a mountain bike ride, their lattes are top-tier: Hot Lattes: The milk is steamed to a perfect micro-foam consistency--silky, sweet, and light. It blends beautifully with the espresso, creating a comforting drink that feels as artisanal as the surroundings. Iced Lattes: These are exceptionally refreshing. They manage to keep the espresso flavor front and center without letting the milk or ice wash it out. It's the ideal companion for a sunny afternoon on the patio. The Atmosphere There is something uniquely relaxing about grabbing a drink and sitting among the trees and rocks outside this cabin-style shop. It's clearly a favorite for locals and travelers alike, and for good reason--the "upstate" vibe is genuine, and the coffee is world-class. The service is full of happiness. Final Verdict: If you are in the Lake Placid area and take your caffeine seriously, Capisce is the place to be.

The employees were friendly, and our stuff came out fast. I got an iced latte with maple syrup and soy milk, my boyfriend got a salted caramel iced latte with vanilla cold foam, and my friend got a drip coffee. The coffee was so good! The only reason I'm not leaving 5 stars is because my friend got the savory cheese twist and it tasted stale, dry and not like cheese :( but the quiche was very good he said. Overall I'd definitely come back for more lattes! I'm happy to have tried this on a trip to Lake Placid.

We were in the mood for lunch and they were only serving breakfast that Sunday. So, we opted for the most lunch-ish thing available that wasn't too heavy. Bagels and cream cheese. They were perfectly toasted and there was plenty of spreadable cream cheese. It made for a perfect light lunch. I don't eat eggs, so it did limit my options. If you do eat eggs, their breakfast dishes with eggs look amazing. Of course, we tried the coffee. It was very good and we loved the mugs. The place is rustic-charming. The service was good. It's a busy place. We loved the regulars who stopped in and didn't even need to say what they wanted. The servers already knew. The service is good but slow. Not sure if that's because they were busy or if they're just not the type to rush things. The bathrooms are clean. There is an up-charge for credit cards. It's hard to resist buying mugs and coffee to take home. The cookies were so hard to resist we bought some to keep us snack-happy on our travels. Definitely a good place to stop.

While I haven't had the opportunity to try the entire menu just yet, I can say confidently the home fries live up to the hype. I understand why they're called home fries because they reminded me of home. It looks like they're doing some renovation on the second floor, I wonder if that'll result in even more seating. If that's the case then it'll take this cafe to the next level.

Also looking at their seasonal drinks my wife and I knew we needed to stop in. Plenty of street parking available right nearby so unless they are super busy you should be good. Once you walk in they had a board sign with all the seasonal specials. It was quite a large space with a good amount of seating with some more comfy seating like the couch and then plenty of tables too. Near where you order they have a baked good display with the daily offerings from a I suspect local bakery. They do appear to offer breakfast sandwiches but only on the weekend. Baked goods wise my wife grabbed a blueberry muffin and I grabbed some sort of apple cinnamon roll. Drink wise my wife got their Pumpkin S'more Steamer and I got the Loganberry Cobbler Cold Brew. My cinnamon roll was delicious, while my wife's muffin was not that great and didn't taste that fresh unfortunately. Drink wise both were phenomenal! My wife's even came topped with a homemade marshmallow and my had a great amount of flavor of a fruit that I am not use to seeing (popular in this area though and I can see why). Besides seasonal they also have all the drinks you'd expect from a coffee shop. Absolute no brainer to stop here if you are from the Potsdam area or visiting or even traveling through. If I were local to the area this would be my go to coffee shop!
