I rented chairs from this company for my wedding and the price I was told and the price I paid were two different prices.First of all he didn't want to take a check and insisted I use a credit card. Go figure! I was told by Bill it would it be $650 which was a great price. After the wedding I checked by bank statement and noticed addition charge for $269!! Thats why they want a credit card so they can charge you again. I called to speak to Bill and spoke to some RUDE woman who said I was charged the addition money because the chairs wasn't stacked properly. Really!!!??? First of all I didn't approve the second charge and the reasoning was BULL! I tried to contact Bill who didn't return my phone calls or emails. How can you run a company like this! I didn't rent much, couple table and a dozen chairs The front office was very warm and welcoming. Most helpful in walking me thru the wording process. When I arrived, I noticed it was a large building. Went to the front office, was met by a very professional person. Things were going exceedingly well. I was actually enjoying the time at the party place. Then I was thrown to the wolves. Omg, once the front office gave me my work order, I went to get the rental items. The people in the warehouse, didn't acknowledge me, didn't make eye contact, didn't help me for more than 20 minutes. I'm not saying they were sitting there,,, they were working. However, when I was finally assisted, the person looked at me with daggers in their eyes. Never touched the rental stuff. Then very unpleasantly walked away. I was unsure of what to do, but tired of waiting. So I grabbed the rental stuff, and loaded my car. Not thinking of the party place again, on account of the wonderful weekend we had. Then alas Monday morning came about. I went and returned the rental table and chairs. Much like last time, I was met with smiles at the front desk, then had to wait twenty minutes for the warehouse guys to check me out. I was met with why did you park there? I've used a Party Place for 4 different parties in the past few years. Each time i've rented an assortment of tables, chairs, linens, wine glasses and various serving accessories. Each time I've gone to their website, written down what I want and gave them a call to reserve everything. They have always been helpful, and have my account ready (with a record of what I've rented in the past). For each rental, when I've gone to pick up, i've added extra items on that I saw in the showroom. They were always accommodating and happily found the extra items for me. Please note that I've never used their pick up or delivery service, which seems to be what's driving some of the negative reviews. We ended up renting silver chiavari chairs from A Party Place, and I am so glad that we did because they tied the entire room together. When I first started planning a 50th wedding anniversary party for my parents, I hit a lot of roadblocks with other providers. I was finally referred to A Party Place by a friend, and from that moment on, things went great! I spoke with Steve at A Party Place, and he suggested that I choose a caterer first, since often times the caterers subcontract them out. I asked for a referral, and he recommended Gunther's. I had not heard of them, but now I'm a die-hard fan of both the catering service and A Party Place. The two companies worked together seamlessly to provide great customer service, beautifully set tables, and delivery and pick up of the tables, dishes, barware, etc.. I have read some of the reviews about how service may not be really friendly, but everyone I have spoken to/worked with has been professional. It may appear that way because staff is direct and to the point. They give you an invoice with itemized prices so you can confirm what you were charged. Rude, unprofessional, hard to get a hold of. Most of all they messed up my order. Would not recommend. The prices are good, but you pay for bad service. If you go in and try to talk to the staff in person they act inconvenienced and annoyed that you are there and then they push you to do your order over the phone in attempts to get you out of the store. I rented linens, napkins, and plates from this place. It's easy to get a quote on their website and all you have to do is call in and confirm the order along with the prices and make it official. I did not get to use their services because I was not even able to get ahold of anyone to help me with renting some chairs. I emailed them, faxed them, called them multiple times. No answer, no return phones calls, and you can't even leave a voicemail or any type of message when you call. I've been trying for two weeks now. So anyone looking to rent from this company just be aware that it will be difficult to get anyone to reach out to you. Their website states that their showroom is open for walk ins during the week but I work all week and they require an appoint meant for Saturday's. I recently used this company for 30 tables and 300 chairs on my wedding last month. They were very polite and I like how they have a variety of ideas staged so you can get an idea of what you're looking for. They delivered on time, all tables, chairs, and linens were in great conditions and were perfect for my wedding reception. They neatly stacked all chairs and tables at the location so it would be easier to fix for the day of, and they promptly picked everything up as well as they promised. I used A Party Place for my wedding. I like how their website shows pictures and prices of the items available, it really helped me get a good idea of what I wanted. I wanted to see the showroom in person before placing an order though. Joanne, who I worked with, arranged for me to come in and meet her on her day off, in order to accommodate my work schedule. I was pretty impressed by the customer service. I originally planned on just renting tables, chairs, and an arch to stand under, but I ended up adding linens and table card holders as well. I had no problems at all with their delivery or pickup, they gave us a time frame for each date and showed up when they were supposed to. Overall, it was fantastic and I'd use them again. read more

5 stars. I dealt with Bill for a 100-guest outdoor wedding / reception in a private residence. I was the groom, and the wedding started at 3pm and lasted until 10pm. Outstanding customer service: Bill visited the site beforehand, evaluated the layout and technical details: lighting, lawn thickness, electrical power availability. Thanks to his advice, we installed a simple rope light around the edge of the dance floor, which had a dazzling effect. He also spent many minutes on the phone answering my novice technical questions. We rented round dinner tables, cocktail tables, chairs (folding wood... VERY comfortable and easy on the grass), free-standing umbrellas, ice buckets, 12'x15' dance floor, etc. (The catering arranged linens, glassware, flatware, etc). Everything was high quality: solid and clean. Quality equipment and cheerful staff made my wedding outstanding. read more

I hosted a friend's wedding in my backyard and she ordered tables, chairs, arch, and table cloths from A Party Place. I went with her to her appointment to pick out the rental items too. Apparently, she came to work on her day off to accommodate my friend's work schedule. It was nice of her to do so, but she at first she was a bit rude and acted like she didn't want to be there. I understand not wanting to be at work on a day off, but why agree to do so only to act resentful? She warmed up to us eventually. Everything arrived on time in good condition and was picked up quickly too. However, the delivery people left behind the plastic bags and metal hangers the linens came in. I don't understand why they couldn't have simply taken them with them when they left. It was a windy day too so I had to spend some time walking around my yard collecting the plastic bags and hangers that were spread around the yard....pretty annoying. The party rentals were of good quality and it helped make my friend's day special. I just wish their customer service was better and their delivery people would be more careful. read more

We love using Party Place for our events. They have the best pricing on Chiavari chairs, lighting, and tenting and are comparable on other rentals such as tables and chairs. Bill is very professional and thorough. He personally shows up at our larger events and always makes sure our orders are accurate, even when we have multiple last minute changes. Their drivers are very polite and conscientious and do a great job of communicating particular delivery and pick up times. We would love it if they offered more specialty items like lounge furniture, accent pieces, and upscale china/glassware, but they are great for the basics. read more

Used this place to rent few chairs and chafing dish. I looked up their product catalog on the website, and then called to place my order. The only thing is they close at 4pm on Friday, unlike Stuart Party Rental that opens until 1pm on Saturday. So its a bit inconvenient to leave early from work on Friday to pick up. Anyway, I returned everything on Monday, and they even took back the Sternos that I didnt use and gave me a refund. So I'll use them again. read more

I threw my mom a surprise dinner party and needed chairs and a table. I looked through many different party rental sites and A Party Place was the best option. They made sure that my things were ready and everything looked amazing. They had beautiful chairs that looked like wood but we're plastic for a very reasonable price. I was able to get 10 chairs for $30 so that's three dollars a chair. The table was only nine dollars and it really added to the whole party. I am so grateful to have amazing family owned companies in the area. I would highly recommend them. Just make sure that you give them enough time and that you are patient. They also allow you to come in and see their show room, it's very convenient and easy. A quick tip is if you don't have someone to pick your rental items up or if you don't want to pay for them to drop it off you can use an app that I like to use called task rabbit. You can pay people per hour to pick up your stuff they have people from $40 an hour to $100 an hour. They have all the equipment, they'll pick it up for you and drop it off at whatever location you're having your party at. I'll definitely be renting from here again read more

Don't waste your time! I called to reserve chiavari chairs for my wedding, and was assisted by very rude and unhappy Joanne. When she told me that they will charge me extra for a delivery to a South San Jose venue, she was unable to explain what is accounted in that fees. I wanted to understand why my particular venue will cost more to deliver to, I was directed to speak to Bill. He was not much help and rude, saying that chairs are already at low price and I can afford to pay extra. Keep in mind they only deliver during business hours: Mon-Fri 9am-4pm and Sat 9am-12pm. So if your event takes places on weekends (which most do), you will be told to pay an overtime rate for a delivery -$250!!!! In additional to hidden charges, they will be rude and arrogant and rude. There're MANY rental places in San Jose area that will offer great deals without hidden fees, and will provide your excellent customer service. I am an event planner and know the industry. Save your time, and take your business elsewhere! read more

I have never had any of the problems that some of the other reviewers have had.
