I had a wonderful experience at A-Plus Dentistry. The entire team was professional, welcoming, and made me feel at ease from start to finish. Steve was kind, and the dental assistant was very personable while taking my X-rays. Dr. Archie was calm, reassuring, and took the time to answer all of my questions. Ms. Tirsit Belew, my hygienist, was excellent. She was efficient and very gentle, especially when cleaning under the gums, which usually makes me nervous. Before I knew it, she was polishing my teeth, and they looked beautifully clean and bright. Amber at the front desk was patient and professional with a warm smile, and Mike, the office manager, handled my billing quickly so I could get on with my day. The skinny African-American male receptionist laughed at me over the phone when I asked if I could schedule an appointment when he found out the other dentist location I preferred was not available. I am very disappointed to report the customer service and the experiences that I have had at this dental office. Up into this moment I was very satisfied with and proud to do business with a black-owned dentist office. Ever since the original dental office manager, which had become a decent friend of mines had left, things at this dental office has now taken a really negative turn. The customer service has significantly gone down the drain. And now I see why she left that dental office. I wish she just had warned me before a substantial bill has been brought to my attention. To be clear, I am not a person who leaves an unpaid debt. And to be blatant, I was very frustrated when I learned about these bills (which he said was from last year, but with the invoice, I see that he was mistaken, because some line items, that he referred to was from 2023, which is insane). Also, I had to call to confirm with my bank that those debts were paid. Today I called the dental office to where I was met by a gentleman named Michael. No last name who has proven to be, not very helpful this invoice dispute. Not only did he send me an invoice with no useful dates, times or any information connected to my insurance to further help me rectify this situation, and (because he expressed not having time for me, and did not help to find someone who can help me). I requested that someone else helped me who has more time to sit down with me and assist me in understanding how did this happen, especially when I went out my way to make sure that there will not be an unexpected bill for services that they told me I needed. I later found out that the services that they said I needed. (Which they had expressed will be covered by my insurance explicitly because I confirmed prior to my appointment) Just to find out a year later that the information they provided was false and now I'm legally liable to pay this debt that I expressly and implicitly express my concern for the insurance policies and the services that they deem that I need. I'm sure there are call records, and other representatives that I have dealt with in the past who can help clarify and verify information. I already was going to find another office because of other reasons, but now that this office is trying to put bills and invoices on my account that has never been brought to my attention. Not when I have my last visit, nor after that visit did anyone contact me about a bill. Michael was very rude and for someone who majored in psychology, can be view as a person who does not care about you and how their bills will affect you. I asked to speak with a manager in which he denied my request. He also mentioned that this account is not worth the time, which technically means, he can care less about the customers that come there, especially customers who have been a patient there such as myself for over 5 years. I am very disappointed in how our business is concluding. Oh, also since I couldn't get any help from anybody at that office including manager or supervisor for further assistance, Michael made it clear that he will not deal with me or my account, which I would assume means that they will send this debt to a collection agency further complicating my life and credit to which he can care less. I am gravely disappointed, and have never experienced such customer service except at a black organization. I am very disgusted that no one had the time to help me and that the customers in the office appeared to be more important than my dispute. I guess I have to find a new and better black owned dentist office. Also, when you have a trust dentistry that you have been a patient of for over 5 years, you tend to build up rapport (which I did). And I have never had to second guess the information that was being delivered to me. They said I was due for my routine annual cleaning, but they lied because where my annual clean would be covered by insurance, it was not this time. And I was reassured by the office that it was time for my annual cleaning because I haven't had one since the year prior to that. To be clear, the woman in the office mistakenly told me that my dental insurance covers 2 annual cleanings (I asked her to confirm that before coming in, and they proceeded to get my in the office, and I proceeded to question the insurance coverage until someone in the office explained to me that it was just annual and that I was in fact due. Thats when I went in last year, just to find out a year later, that was a lie. I would say in the future if you plan to do business with this organization, never get too comfortable, don't ever trust them, and check with your dental insurance first before ever going into the office. I am so glad I never brought my daughter and that she is at a different black owned dental office that offers far better customer service. read more

They will invite you for one thing under the guise of it being 'covered by insurance' then tack things onto the bill without a proper explanation or breakdown of service, then invoice you at a MUCH later date- inaccurately claiming they explained it to you and that you should have known. On my initial visit, all was fine. I had xrays and a cleaning. They told me to come back in six months. In the interim, I upgraded my insurance, so I wouldn't have to pay for a deep cleaning. When I returned for the deep cleaning appointment, they wanted me to pay the $720. So, I called the insurance company, they said no charge, but the dentist's insurance person was on vacation. So, I rescheduled a month or so later. I came back, same issue. They said they had to get a pre-authorization, and they would call me back. I called back a week later, nope, nothing yet from insurance company. Now, three weeks later, I called the dental insurance company, they said they approved the procedure the same day it was submitted by the dentist office. Ok, they don't want me, I'll go elsewhere. Latoya put us on hold abruptly as she stated she's with a client yet I've been calling for 2 weeks trying to get this situation solved AND after my insurance rep told her all she needed was a few minutes to clear up any misconceptions. NOW YOU ARE AWARE!!!! I have called your office multiple times in the last 2 weeks to discuss this issue and your office manager and know you, are aware that I was overcharged! Calling anymore is just a waste of my time as you all clearly don't understand your error. Uhmmmmm.... i should have known this place is not the dentistry for me. From day one I signed up they had a staff literally arguing with me for asking questions. She was later let go... now, I have an appointment after speaking with a staff a week ago to confirm appointments and request time from work. I got there only to be told they canceled contact with insurance company since September 1, 2020. No email, no telephone call nothing. They will force things for you to do that you don't need to be done just to collect that money. I wouldn't recommend them and I am glad the policy was canceled because I believe they were over charging me anyway. Updated: Since they respond I had to update to show prove that they are lying . You know very well they didn't send text or remind especially the Dentist said my appointment was removed due to you jo longer do business with Liberty. You know very well I mentioned to your office manager I called a week ago to confirm appointment so I can get the day off from work. So now you going lie about reminder being sent. Front office is not the most organized. My emergency contact has been unnecessarily called twice (missed appointment and change of address... not emergencies) without even leaving me a voicemail/ text message/ chance to call back first. I was sent a bill in the mail that I paid 4 months prior and I'm glad I remembered and have documentation as I would've ended up paying twice. Technology is outdated and uncomfortable in comparison to nearby competitors. I signed up for OrthoFX aligners without being informed that I should do that after completing fill-ins, it's a hassle getting new molds. I got a fill-in and a little while later the tooth broke, I do feel it was a result of the fill-in. I prefer to support black businesses as there are few around here but I unfortunately do not plan on returning. read more

This review is only in regards to trying to set an appointment and in no way reflects the actual work of the dentist or hygienists who work here. I was randomly assigned here by my dental provider and I'm not sure why as I don't live or work in the area. I was going to wait until the first of the month to enroll in a closer dentist office, but I chipped my tooth this week and needed some emergency treatment. I called the office several times over the course of a couple days and got the answering machine each time. I've never experienced that with a dentist office. Finally about 1.5 days later I get a call back and woman on the phone literally said "Hi, I have a missed call from this number." It was so strange. Who calls from a business and does not introduce themselves or state which business they are calling from? I asked her if this was the dentist's office because I had a feeling and she replied, "yes, who is this?" What was the point of me leaving a voicemail if they don't even check it? She made me go over the message again since she had not listened to it. She told me they only accept new patients on Wednesdays and they were booked up and the earliest they could see me was a couple weeks later. NEXT. I'll just live with my chipped tooth until next month so I don't have to experience this mess. read more

I was excited to get my dental work done at this office September 2020 which soon turned to "not to sure about this office". I went in for a lot of dental work that was needed (fillings , deep cleaning , perio treatment & Any extractions needed). To start I had quite a few cavities to get done, I'm also a new graduate from dental assistant schooling & it just didn't seem like she was doing the procedure right. I'm now at western dental & they found food stuck under a lose filing along with 3 others that need to be REDONE ! I just got them no more than a month ago . I also needed a perio treatment , I was told to pick it up one day & when I called to check it was if it was ready I was told they needed another week ! I inquired about having my wisdom teeth removed & the day I went in they told me they couldn't & I'll have to go elsewhere which the appointment was 2 weeks away , I simple phn call would have been great since they knew a week prior they couldn't do it ! There was NO anatomy created on the surface or contact check between my teeth , the orthodontist had to create it in order to get my spacers in and that's when food was discovered in my filling , these filings are just running together. To say I want a COMPLETE refund is an understatement ! I am completely unsatisfied. UPDATE : called my dental insurance & they don't even have a claim from this office & I went in September ! The professional who worked the front desk did a great job with me on the phone, scheduling a same day appointment and then explaining the details of my insurance coverage after my visit. If you're looking for a dentist office that prides themselves on convenience, timeliness and transparency, DO NOT GO TO A PLUS DENTISTRY. I came here as I hadn't had my teeth cleaned in over 2 years and wanted a dentist near my apartment. I was excited that this office had a black woman dentist, being a black woman myself, and that it had pretty good reviews so I decided to make an appointment. My first mistake was ignoring the negative reviews. I showed up on time for my appointment and still had to wait at least 30 minutes to be seen. Then after getting x rays, I waited for some time again to be seen by the dentist where she did a quick exam and told me I needed a deep cleaning and had 4 cavities that needed to be filled. She never showed me my x rays. Never showed me where the cavities were and left the room right after. Then I waited for another 20 minutes or so for the office manager (I'm assuming) to tell me how much everything was going to cost. Even though this dentist was in Network for my insurance they still told me I had to pay over $1000 out of pocket for the cleaning and fillings which I thought was a exorbitant amount. Magically in the time it took for them to figure out how much everything would be, I somehow went from needing 4 fillings to needing 5. I didn't feel comfortable with this at all and had been there for so long with having had barely anything done so I decided to leave without having the cleaning or fillings. A couple weeks go by and I get a call from someone in their office asking if I would do the cleaning if they waived my $100 copay and gave me generic meds to make the cost cheaper. At first I agreed but after calling my insurance and finding out that my copay is actually $25 dollars I decided to just go to a different dentist. To go to the new dentist I was told I needed to get my x rays from A Plus Dentistry first. I called them to see if I could get my x rays to which they agreed and said they had them ready for me but that I had to pick them up. I asked if there was any way I could have them emailed to me to which they responded that I had to come in to get them. So I came from Westwood on my lunch break to pick them up, parked on the street since you have to pay to park in their lot (btw) and when I go to pick them up, they gave them to me folded and printed on regular printer paper. They made me come all the way to the office for them to give them to me on printer paper. When I asked for a digital copy, the office manager said she would just email them to me. As you can imagine I was extremely frustrated and irritated at the fact that I was told I had to come in to pick them up all for them to just email them to me. They never asked for ID to verify it was me so I'm really not sure why I was told I had to pick them up and why they thought it was at all appropriate or useful for them to have been printed on regular printer paper. They weren't even printed landscape, they were portrait, small, hard to see and useless. I will NEVER go back to this place and I will dissuade anyone I know not to go here. A huge waste of time and a headache. I'm just so thankful I opted to go to another dentist. After getting a second opinion from an arguably better dentist and office I was told I didn't need a deep cleaning and that I only had 2 cavities that actually needed to be filled. The others were too small to worry about as they had not penetrated the enamel yet. I was also only quoted $100-$120 for the fillings out of pocket. Came here because of all the good reviews, but ended up having a really bad experience. The doctors & staff are very friendly and attentive. I was recommended small fillings on three of my teeth because my gums are sensitive and were no longer protecting my teeth. I agreed to the procedure and it went well, however the next day the first filling fell off, and the following week the other two fillings fell off as well. They were kind and offered to fix it free of charge, but unfortunately I can't trust them that the same thing won't happen again and am now even more scared to go to any dentist than I have before. read more

There was two ladies up front and one in the back, sadly I forgot their names but they were so sweet and considerate. This office is the reason why so many folks say "i'm not dealing with my people in business". I had a simple procedure a couple of fillings, they tell me the copay is $250 i pay it and leave,after the numbness fades i realize their is a gap in my teeth i didn't have the time but i made an appointment to have the fillings corrected. Two weeks later i get a statement from delta dental so i called and they tell me that i should have only paid $50 so i call Aplus and i'm told we will correct the error and you should receive a credit in 1 week. It has been two months and still no refund,no explanation as to why, nothing. Whenever i call it is always an excuse so i finally told them i wont be calling anymore i'm not rich but i'm not gonna get worked up over $200 and end up saying or doing something stupid. PS... I didn't mention the procedure my daughter had to repair a cracked tooth that lasted 3 weeks and i think that was a $500 copay which i paid and then sent her to another dentist who has since repaired the tooth and it has been well over a year with no issues.... read more

I actually came to Dr. Uka for Invisalign but also needed other work done prior to my cosmetic work. I had been with my former dentist since childhood so I was apprehensive to go to anyone else. However, I had the best experience in her dental chair- the dental procedure was mostly painless, much to my surprise as I'm used to being gassed prior to anesthesia to bypass any discomfort. She was quick but thorough and explained what was going on with my teeth in the same visit. My Invisalign process has also been smooth sailing, and my 5 y/o son's visit was pleasant as well. My family and I have been seeing Dr. Ndidi for the past year. Moving to the Los Angeles area we were unsure of what dentist would service our children for their initial visit. We were concerned about bad experiences, etc...but thankfully Dr. Ndidi is gentle and kind to my kids, they enjoy going to the dentist. I think we made the right decision for our kids and family.
