DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST…read more I had one of the worst medical experiences I've ever encountered at Comfort Dental with Dr. Marwan Jamil. I scheduled this appointment nearly two weeks in advance, completed all required paperwork online, and clearly explained when booking that I had a crown that popped off and needed either a repair or replacement. Everything seemed straightforward. When I arrived for my 11:00 AM appointment, I wasn't seen until about 11:20 AM because the office manager arrived late and the dentist was visibly going back and forth with staff. Not a great start. Once I was finally taken back, the dentist came in, asked what the issue was, and I explained again about my crown. I even brought the crown with me in case it could be re-cemented. He looked at it and said it would be an easy fix. Then, without warning, everything changed. He told me he could not perform an X-ray or ANY treatment without "medical clearance" from my doctor. This immediately raised a red flag, so I asked why--since I've never needed that before for dental work. He then told me it was because I "had a tumor." I corrected him immediately and said I do not have a tumor, and that was not listed anywhere on my paperwork. He then claimed that Hashimoto's thyroiditis is a tumor--which is completely false. It is an autoimmune disease, not a tumor. He then referenced my paperwork and said I noted having surgery. I explained that yes, I had ovarian surgery in January to remove a cyst, which I disclosed honestly because the form asked if I've ever had surgery. That is standard medical history. Despite this, he insisted he could not do anything--not even an X-ray--without my doctor completing a clearance form. At this point, I asked a very reasonable question: Why was I not informed of this requirement before my appointment? I had waited nearly two weeks, only to be told on the spot that nothing could be done. His response? He "just looked at my file." He then told me that after getting clearance, I'd have to schedule again--and the next available appointment was May 7th (another 3+ week wait), just to possibly proceed with basic care. When I expressed that this made no sense, he became dismissive and said: "Good luck finding another dentist. This is what I went to school for." Completely unprofessional. After leaving, I immediately contacted my OBGYN, primary care doctor, and endocrinologist, and all three confirmed the same thing: There is absolutely no reason I would need medical clearance for a dental X-ray or crown repair in this situation. This was a complete waste of time, a delay in necessary care, and based on incorrect medical information. I will be reporting this office for: * Misinformation (calling Hashimoto's a tumor) * Failure to communicate requirements ahead of time * Refusal of basic dental care without valid reasoning * Extremely unprofessional behavior Save yourself the time, frustration, and risk--go literally anywhere else.

Steve was kind, and the dental assistant was very personable while taking my X-rays. Dr. Archie was calm, reassuring, and took the time to answer all of my questions. Ms. Tirsit Belew, my hygienist, was excellent. She was efficient and very gentle, especially when cleaning under the gums, which usually makes me nervous. Before I knew it, she was polishing my teeth, and they looked beautifully clean and bright. Amber at the front desk was patient and professional with a warm smile, and Mike, the office manager, handled my billing quickly so I could get on with my day. The skinny African-American male receptionist laughed at me over the phone when I asked if I could schedule an appointment when he found out the other dentist location I preferred was not available. Why did he laugh so heartily? I felt sad and unseen. My gut told me this was off, and I now listen. So thank you for teaching me to listen to my inner guidance. Much love. I know someone must be hurting deeply to lie about cleaning my teeth, and charging me for it, when it never occurred. Peace be with you all.

Man don't go here it's just horrible. Update. 03/10 So my mom went to ANOTHER dentist that is far from LA and got her check up on her tooth and guess what, it wasn't a root canal what so ever it was just a cavity a fckng cavity. Now imagine seeing my mom getting lied too and almost getting a procedure that she didn't need to get. How is this place open. Why are they lying to their patients like that. Just horrible Please be careful when you go there.

Her assistant is incompetent and it's painful to hear the way she talks to him. Eligibility verification, return phone calls, appointment scheduling, follow ups and referrals.....all very simple, daily office tasks should not take long. However, this office is very, very slow. Repeating yourself over and over and over again is the norm here. It is unfortunate because I want to be supportive, but I will not hold my breath waiting for things to change. Do yourself a huge favor and choose a dental office that is receptive to your needs, not only as a patient but as a customer as well.

While reclining in the dental chair, my blood pressure was checked for the first time. I was informed by Sammy, the dental technician?, that this is a new procedure as the practice continues to update its protocols. My blood pressure was taken twice using a CVS store-brand cuff placed over a thick sweater. During the first reading, my arm was positioned hanging down at my side with my arm bent on the dental bed. I was not asked to rest it at heart level, nor was I seated with my feet flat on the floor, as is standard practice in most medical settings. The second reading was taken in the same manner, again over my sweater and arm hanging down. I slightly adjusted my arm position myself during the second attempt. Both readings were elevated, and I was told that my dental cleaning could not proceed. And...that's ok. What I found concerning is that upon returning home, I checked my blood pressure using two different machines BEFORE taking my medication. I took my sweater off, sat upright, feet on floor, and arm by chest/heart level. While my readings were elevated, they were SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the measurements taken at the dental office. If blood pressure readings are being used to determine whether routine dental care can proceed, it is important that staff are properly trained in correct blood pressure measurement techniques. To clarify, I do have high blood pressure, and my physician and I manage it carefully. In addition, I had not yet taken my medication prior to the dental appointment. However, my at-home readings were nothing comparable to those taken at the dentist. Had my blood pressure truly been as high as indicated at the dentist, I would have sought immediate emergency care, especially given that I am pregnant and aware of the seriousness such readings would pose. I am grateful that I rechecked my blood pressure at home for peace of mind. I even called my doctor, went in to the doctor's office, showed my doctor the sweater, explained how it was done...and my doctor said it was done incorrectly! *For transparency, a prior positive post about this practice was made after being offered a discount for doing so. At this point, I believe it may be time to seek care elsewhere.
