I did not care for the customer service here. I went in on a Monday and was told they were busy and was urged to leave my car. So I made an appointment for the first service on Tuesday morning. I was there on time and waited about an hour. Then I was told that my transmission seemed fine. I asked if they could just change the fluid anyway as they had a sign up saying transmission service $19.95. Chris the front desk man/manager said well, yes he could do that but the fluid for my car was very expensive and with that and labor it would cost about $300. He said it was a closed system and meant to last the life of the car or about 100k miles. He urged me again to leave my car so they could test drive it. But the problem it has is very intermittent and they could keep it a week and take it out several times a day and never have the problem occur. So I left with my car. I feel like he could have told me how much a fluid change would cost on my car upfront. He seemed obsessed with me leaving my car. He was polite. read more

Wish I could give more stars. These guys went above and beyond helping with my transmission repair. They checked other parts of the car and let me know other parts that could use work and offered me many options on how to do that. They communicated clearly and kept me in the loop throughout the entire process. They care about their customers and providing a valuable service. My experience at A+ Transmission (Champions area) was outstanding. Chris really understands customer service. I went in because of excessive leaks from my 1967 Fairlane's C6 automatic transmission, and it turned out my problems were deeper. Chris explained their finding is a very logical fashion and my alternatives for repairs. I chose to have the transmission completely rebuilt. Chris followed up and kept me abreast of their progress. I think they fixed more than just what we planned, but at no extra charge since the transmission was already out of the car. Transmissions are a complicated part of your vehicle and only an expert can really do the job right. It is easy to get scammed by unscrupulous shops. Chris the manager communicated clearly and sent photos of the issues. We went back to the store and were shown our transmission apart in the shop and the defects were pointed out and explained. The quote was in writing and they honored a military discount. Every question asked was answered and the job was completed on budget on time with a two year warranty. A Plus advertises a $29.95 transmission fluid & filter service all the time with coupons in the mail. This is a bargain, so I took my car there for service. They did not perform well at all. In fact, I was yelled at and told not to return to them for any service: The car is a 1963 Nova with a Powerglide transmission. This is not something they see every day. I made an appointment for the following morning and took the car in. I was told to leave the car and it would be a couple of hours. I told them of a couple of shifting issues that I suspected might be an adjustment that wanted them to check while it was there. "We'll call you when it is ready." I called them back after about 5 hours and they said it was ready. I really expect someone to do what they say, not say something and ignore it. When I picked it up I was told that they they had tried to adjust the shifting, but the cable was messed up and they could not fix it w/o replacing the cable. I said that the car has no cables, but whatever. The guy asked if everything was OK. I told him I wasn't too happy about the length of time, but other than that it was OK. When I got home I received a call from an irate manager (I guess) mad at me for discussing problems in front of other customers (one) in the office. He was fuming and said that they they had done everything they could and that, "Yes the car has TWO cables to the transmission." (In fact, a 1963 Nova has NO CABLES. It uses steel rods to shift the transmission into gear and another to connect to the carburetor for passing gear down-shifting. When I checked the adjustment from the carburetor, I found that the dirt had not been disturbed which showed that they had NOT EVEN TRIED to adjust it.) The manager continued to yell at me telling me that they did not want my business. I asked him what was wrong. I said that their service had been OK and that I would probably use them again. I don't know what his problem was, but his attitude and demeanor convinced me to stay clear of this business. read more

The reason I give only 1 Star is because my 2006 Buick Lucerne is doing the same thing it was doing when I took it in for diagnosis and repair. Jerking at every stop and when taking off. Patrick from the Dairy Ashford location /Houston assured me my vehicle would need to have the transmission replaced and gave me a long drawn out verbal spill and when I first heard it I actually believed him and the diagnosis. Due to some financial challenges and being a single retired senior female, I had to leave my car an additional week until I could get the money and arrange to be financed for half of the full amount. Keep in mind it took an entire week to get it diagnosed and I kept calling and calling and calling. I should have knew then this was about to be a nightmare!!! I picked the car up Jan 24, 2021 and the same day I noticed an occasional jerk., and in the next 3-4 days the car was jerking at every stop as it was doing prior to my bringing it in. At this point I truly doubt IF MY TRANSMISSION was ever really bad or was i just told this to make some money off of. Even though I received a warranty I DO NOT TRUST PATRICK or his team. I also noticed the hood to my car will no longer open and stay open with the side latches because someone removed them and now I have to prop it up with a stick or whatever I can find when I want to check my fluids. WHO DOES S--- LIKE THIS BUT a company with no heart and no honesty or integrity. SO LADIES BEWARE- do not trust this A-1 Transmission because there is a lots more to it than meets the eye. Its hard to believe that the staff are licensed mechanics with actual paper to prove it. SO STEER CLEAR- especially ladies and senior citizens. read more

Brought my car in last year to have a performance clutch installed in my car. Chris the manager seemed like a nice and pretty knowledgeable guy. I was having this clutch installed because I was having problems getting my car into gear. The throw out bearing was shot so I figured why not replace the clutch as well since it costs the same labor wise. Well they get it all installed and within two days I notice the same issue is present but I'm told that the clutch needs to be broken in. So I wait 3 months, the problem is now worse than when I brought the car in initially. So I brought it back, they kept the car overnight and looked at it and said everything appears to be fine. Another month passes I bring the car back again. This time they tell me it's the clutch master cylinder that needs to be replaced. I was doubtful but I decided to let them do it and was told that if that didn't solve the problem they would warranty the part and labor out and I would be refunded. Well guess what, that didn't solve the problem so I bring the car back and this time they have someone test drive it while I was there and guess what now they figured out something is wrong as their mechanic came back in and told them that the clutch isn't completely disengaging when the pedal is pressed. So I was told to bring the car back and they would disassemble it and fix the issue. So after the holidays I bring the car back and they keep it overnight again. Just to call me in the morning to tell me that they just test drove the car and that the only solution was to replace the clutch as everything was installed perfectly and operating within spec and it was probably defective, I was also not refunded the money for the master cylinder that was not needed. They kept my car for 24 hours just to take it on a test drive! I wasn't getting anywhere with them so I took my car to another mechanic that same day who was more than happy to look at the car. The very first thing they did was put a camera in to look at everything and the throw out bearing was destroyed and leaking. A plus claimed everything was fine... Upon them taking it apart the first issue they ran into were that the bolts were cross threaded so they had to repair the threads. Exedy the manufacturers of my clutch were kind enough to provide me with a new throw out bearing even though it wasn't covered under warranty after hearing what had happened. So the shop measured and inspected the operation of all the parts and spent hours on the phone with Exedy to make sure everything wasn't damaged and to also make sure everything was within operational specs which they were. So they discovered that the clutch was not installed correctly and a shim was left out. Not knowing that myself I still had the old parts and sure enough it was in there with them, I figured it was just part of the old clutch. So I was extremely angry that they had spent all that time with my car to damage my transmission and not install the parts correctly. Car runs perfectly now unfortunately I had to pay twice the amount I should have to get it that way. PLEASE AVOID THIS SHOP if you need any transmission repairs! read more

Worst place ever, very very poor customer service and I felt discriminated against as if I knew nothing and they can tell me what he want

Wish I can rate this business with ZERO stars. If you want excellent customer service, this is not the place for you. I do not recommend this place to anybody! This by far has been the worse experience I have ever had with a mechanic. This guy, Chris, is in my opinion prejudice, inconsiderate, and lack people skills. I am an African American women and he was so rude to me on the phone and in person. He explained to me what was wrong with my vehicle with mechanic terminology and when I tried to ask questions about my vehicle that I am paying for he was very short, talked to me as if I was unintelligent or ignorant. When I went to pick up my vehicle my husband came with me, he called 911 because my husband ask him not to speak to me that way. He even lied and said my husband was loud with him and he still refuse to discuss the issue (my vehicle). Chris has a very bad attitude. I have never experience dealing with a person I am paying for services with treat me the way I was treated. I reluctantly paid him even when the service was very poor. People like this does not need a business at all. I work in the medical field and I always make sure my patients are comfortable and understand what they are paying for and very patient with people because you never know what a person is going through. I told this guy I loss my grandmother and mother one month apart and couldn't afford to pay for the extra unnecessary work he was trying to get me to do at this moment and he basically said that he didn't care what I was going through and that doesn't have anything to do with my transmission. This guy is heartless, and one day someone is going to give you a taste of your own medicine. And it is going to be 100 times worse than how you treated me ( a women/ a wife/ a mother). read more

I waited for six months to write this review. It is not what they did to my car, but it is what they did not do. I went to them in February 2015 because I was enticed by their promo for low-cost transmission oil change. The manager asked me how long ago was the last oil change. I said I don't remember. He said no problem because they were going to look at it and analyze the oil. He came back to me saying that the transmission was already burnt and they refuse to change it because it will just damage the transmission. He said it would be better if they rebuild the transmission instead of just changing the oil. I said I just need the oil changed and it would be my responsibility. They refused to do it. So I went home and looked at the oil myself. I have mechanical engineering background and I am able to tell what burnt oil is. Mine was not. So I decided to change the oil myself. After 6 months, I am still driving my car with absolutely no problem with the transmission. The shifting is actually smoother. If I agreed to have my transmission rebuilt, I would have paid for works that were not necessary. They will scare you to agree on more costly jobs than what is necessary. read more
