Cannot say enough about this small town Dayton ice cream parlor. It is family owned and ran by the sweetest family, and their ice cream, store and service speaks for its self! The moment you walk in you are greeted with smiles and joy, and the ice cream is too notch! They have so many ice cream options, as well as some savory food options if ice cream is not your preference in that moment! The ambiance in the shop is fun and relaxing! A great place to bring your kids, loved ones, family, or even come by yourself to enjoy the sweets! Definitely one of those spots you need to experience and small town Dayton, NV!

This is a great little shop! The staff is friendly and helpful. The ice cream is delicious. There are so many flavors to choose from. I got a Sunday with Mint chip and pumpkin...no nuts. Both ice creams were creamy and packed with flavor. I can't wait for my next scoop (or two!)

Three scoops for me! Too many delicious flavors to choose from, so I got the banana split. Black Cherry, espresso chocolate and vanilla bean~ with hot fudge! A must :) Cant wait to come back and try all the other flavors!

Great small town ice cream shop! The ice cream is super creamy with great flavors. The owners were very nice and welcoming with smiles. I had the espresso chocolate chunk ice cream which had a smooth coffee flavor with a sweet chocolate finish! I would recommend coming here any time!

Such a sweet treat. Ice cream is so creamy and some great flavors ! My husband soft serve rootbeer cone was perfect. My tahoe toffee espresso and chocolate coffee espresso favors were spot on. I'm a fan and highly recommend!

We had a reservation on a Thursday night so seating was easy and highly recommended. The service was friendly and spot on. The ambiance was wonderful, very well thought with an interesting history worth reading about when you go. The food was a real treat and we are looking forward to experiencing J's again soon.

Tonight we came out to Js for my husband's birthday…read more The restaurant was clean, dimly lit, and fairly loud. Our waitress was good but not one of our favorites. Our waters were never filled and our non-alcoholic beverage drinkers were never checked on to see if their drinks were ok/wanted something else/need anything. She also only checked on us 1x right after the food was dropped off to see if we needed freshly ground pepper and not again until it was time for desert and the check. For appetizers we had the Thai Scallops and the special Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus. The Thai Scallops are one of our go-tos and they were good; however, they were pretty heavily breaded tonight. The Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus was good but was hard to eat and could have used a bit more cooking. For my main I had the linguine and clams. I was HIGHLY disappointed in this tonight. The noodles were delicious and beautifully done but the "sauce" was nothing but pasta water. There was flavor: no garlic, no butter, no clams-no flavor whatsoever. The clams were also macerated as if someone chewed them up and spit them in the dish for me. My husband had the ribeye with gorgonzola butter and polenta. Everything was cooked beautifully and seasoned perfectly but his chunk of butter (his favorite) was so frozen it never melted-even by the end of the meal. For desert, my husband had the bread pudding and we had the crème brûlée. My husband said the bread pudding was good but slightly dry and cold. The crème brûlée was horrible. We sent it back and got "oh sorry someone new made them-big fail" and laughing. The brûlée was not even close to being set so it was pure liquid. It wasn't even a consistent temperature. After years of loving eating at Js and celebrating milestones here it makes me sad to see how quality is slipping.

I'm not…read morea regular coffee drinker, but I was looking to get my iced brew fix and there aren't many options in town. You have to drive into Reno or Carson City to hit up a Starbucks or comparable coffee place. I heard from locals about The Roasting House. I saw pics of celebrities like Terrance Howard and Jeremy Renner sitting on the quaint little bar stools inside. Roasting House has officially entered the coffee chat room! On my first visit, I saw that the Iced Brew special was Carrot Cake. Um? Only my favorite cake! I had the best timing and hit the jackpot! Of course that's what I ordered. It was delicious! The decor is absolutely adorable. It's like a beautiful Victorian feel to it. It has beautiful furniture, pictures on the wall, and they have coffee, jewelry for sale and other items. Additionally, they roast their coffee beans on-site with a large vintage roasting machine towards the back of the shop. The place definitely has an elegant, antique-like ambience that fits perfectly with VC. They also serve various baked goods, bagel sandwiches and other breakfast items. You will have a great start to your day by coming here first. Service is impeccable and the staff is super friendly. As you go towards the rear of the shop, there is a beautiful patio that overlooks Virginia city and the streets below C Street. It's a perfect place to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast item. It's very peaceful with beautiful scenery and they've added some rustic patio furniture. I've been back a couple times and the prices are really good. I'm from the Bay Area and compared to where I'm from the prices are more than reasonable for coffee. This is a place not to be missed when you visit Virginia City!
