We were at the Village for a daytime event that started at 10am, and around noon, my 3-year-old really wanted ice cream. We stopped by the shop, but the guy at the counter informed us that they didn't have ice cream available yet, as they were waiting for someone to come prepare it. He said they'd be about 10 minutes out. We came back twice over the next 30 minutes, but the first time, we were mostly ignored and there was still no one at the ice cream counter. On our second return, the guy finally went to the ice cream counter but seemed confused, asking someone else what he could make. After making the order for the person ahead of us, he eventually made our ice cream. While the ice cream itself was delicious, with a huge serving, it cost about $13 for the most basic treat on the menu. What really bothered me was that the guy was wearing rubber gloves the entire time and never changed them- not even between customers and some people have allergies/food sensitivities. He also used the register, texted on his phone, and then handled the next ice cream without switching gloves, which was pretty off-putting. I understand they might have been short-staffed, but his attitude made it clear that our returns for ice cream were frustrating to him. Took the kid there to try something new. Rolled ice cream. They had many different options but my kid just likes plain vanilla ice cream. There was no line and the lady working there was nice. She made the rolled ice cream and my kid was able to watch her make it. He likes watching people do stuff. While it was a little pricey for ice cream, it was good and different for him. He had a few bites of it and was done. I finished the rest. The vanilla ice cream was really good. It tasted like sweet cream. I liked it. Yah it's expensive for ice cream but it we had to give it a try. There are some tables right outside the store to sit down and eat. That whole Rancharrah area is pretty fancy yuppy. They have plenty of presets you can get or you can make a custom. Being a bit overwhelmed cause I didn't really know what the deal was I just went with a preset choice. They have two options for milk which is regular or oat. Ended up with the salted Carmel with reg milk and damn it was good. All the savory and sweet you could need. Also it's a plus that you watch them make the ice cream right there. They pour the milk on a cold plate and form it up like they are putting mud on drywall. Rolled Mountain Creamery offers made-to-order ice cream rolls, which were made to order as we watched. We thought of it as a Benihana-like presentation, only with ice cream. But as a professional safety guy, I couldn't help wondering about worker's comp and carpal tunnel potential. CONS - Expensive (roughly $10 each) - Each order takes time, so the line is slow, especially during a family order. PROS - Attractive shop with easy to understand posted menu. - Pleasant, hard working, and engaged staff. - A lot of selections available, both dairy and vegan. - Interesting and tasty rolled ice cream product in a dish. - Very nice Village outdoor open space to enjoy our selections. RECOMMENDATION - Offer pre-made ice cream sandwich selections for easy take out. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! - Rolled Mountain Creamery offers a nice chocolates selection at a separate counter. Who doesn't love ice cream?? For years I've been a fan of Dorinda's chocolates and Rolled Ice Cream on Riverside. Now she has a location in the new Rancharrah Village. This new location puts me equal distance from both, darn. :) Both have great outdoor seating and the ability to buy Dorinda's fabulous chocolates while getting your ice cream. Each dish of ice cream is made fresh to order while you wait, and watch. Choose from milk or soy for vegans. Then a flavor. It's Dorinda's, so I always choose chocolate. There are fruit flavors and mint available. Next pick a mix, again, duh, I add chocolate. The mix ins are available on the counter to check out and pick from. If you really can't decide on a combination, the staff lists their favorite creations on the menu board. The ingredients are mixed together on a frozen griddle, smoothed into a sheet, then cut into strips and rolled. Spoons and napkins are by the door as you head outside to enjoy it. There's no inside seating available at the current time. The Village offers a great seating area. Plenty of easy, free parking right behind Dorinda's. read more

Was going to just avoid the place and forget about it but then I saw the health inspection report of them using non food edible aromatic fragrances that state not for food consumption goes to show what these operators are thinking they would try to fool you into believing it tastes so good by putting artifical smells into it over time slowly poisoning you. This is my first time at the Rancharrah location! I used to go to the location on Riverside years ago so my friend and I decided to visit this location while in the area. This location is nestled in a beautiful location. There is no indoor seating but there is plenty of outdoor seating. This would be a place that you could go with a big group of friends with! Upon entering, the place is smaller and snug. There is also a counter that you could buy chocolates at. The menu is portrayed on a screen and they have a variety of flavors to choose from - it was hard to choose just one and I was impressed in the flavors they had! I ended up getting the Aimee's Grasshopper without mint, so it's nice they accept adaptations to orders. My friend got the Samoa and both our ice creams were pretty good! Service was quick when we went on a Monday evening. I recommend checking this place out for a different ice cream experience since you get to see them roll your order out! read more

After driving around a bit inside the 'Village' I found the creamery which is kind of tucked into a corner. Signage on the shops are not easy to read; small and light in color- say wood burning special. Shop itself is well set up so you can watch the fun of the ice cream 'Roller' ! Quite a variety of flavors, additions to add to basic cream, AND they not only carry NV milk, but vegan coconut milk! The serving size I received was for one ( I think, but I hope not) and I have to say I ate the whole thing by myself:) and I'm not ashamed to admit it. There are Adirondack chairs scattered about with a very large fireplace, so it was a beautiful warm day and I sat overlooking the large chess set and bocce court. Very pleasant surroundings. The atmosphere outside this ice cream shop alone was worth going to. The ice cream in short was creative, cold & delicious. I chose to go with the almond milk option for diet changes i've been making. When making changes like that it can become tough to find a tasteful treat. Now I am excited because I kept close to my health needs and found a great place to hang out. You get a show from the way they get to the point of rolling the awesomeness together. Rolled mountain creamery is the bomb dot com! I've already been to the other location but I like the ranchera a lot better. Parking is great and you have a lot of options for great stores nearby. We went and usually get the sea salt caramel which is our absolute favorite but this time we tried something new and got the peaches and cream and it was great! It had some crackers and crushed peaches in it and was fruity and light. We ended up not being able to finish our ice cream for the first time and brought it home and froze it and to our pleasant surprise, it was just as good the next day! We also got some cold brews. Turns out rolled ice cream / dorindas does a collaboration and makes iced cold brew with caramel/ chocolate sauce in it. It's delicious but the cans get filled so high it's hard to shake and open so beware but they are tasty! read more

Freshly made, instagrammable ice cream on -25 degree blocks? Yes please! That's what you'll get during a visit to RMC. I went with the whole family, and we tried a few different options. Death By Chocolate: Rated 5/5 by my dad. He really enjoyed the mini chocolate chips in there, and said there wasn't a single bite without some crunch, creating a nice textural contrast and full flavor with every dip of the spoon. Rocky Road: Rated 3/5 by me and mom. I would've loved way more almond slivers, they really got lost in the giant mound of ice cream for me--definitely not that "texture in every bite" like my dad's creation. Neither of us enjoyed the marshmallow either, unfortunately. When it first is added, it's like a mound of marshmallow as opposed to pre-made minis. So like, bonus for freshness I guess, but it really just got kind of globby, not evenly distributed, and a bit unappealing overall. Cookies and Cream: Rated 5/5 by my husband. "The best cookies and cream I've ever had--even better than Thrifty's!" I mean, enough said! This place shares space with Dorinda's, so you can get all your sugary needs in one place. Please note Dorinda Chocolates are in the same location and just gorgeous, not to mention delicious. On their menu. It's the Lemon Raspberry with a coconut base. Ray says this is his new favorite ice cream. He was wowed by the flavors thru and thru. Mine was Death by Chocolate with Graham cracker and pomegranate boba added. Those little balls are packed with flavor and over all the sundae was fabulous! So. Coming down south on Kietzke, you turn into the Village at Ranchera. Maps say it's "Talbot" but there's no street signs, it's the last right before the round about that takes you to either the freeway or Neal. Next go two rights on the next round about and go straight for the guard house but turn into the shopping center before you get to it, left, then pass the buildings on your left, turn into that parking lot and on your left is the backside of the place you seek. 7400. Great place for ice cream. Rolled on a marble slab and add ins make this a crazy dessert adventure. We had the Rocky Road, Hunk-A-Chunk, and Strawberry Sweet Cake. Watching your creation being made is part of the fun. All selections were yummy and brain freeze worthy! Tables outside are really nice to sit down and eat your sweet treat in the cool of the evening. Aa an added bonus, while you're there you can also pick up some of Dorinda's famous chocolates.
