Took the bestie to Virginia City since she had never been.... We needed our caffeine fix and this is always my to-go. Delicious coffee that was needed before our Washoe Club Tour! Thanks Roasting House!

If you're in Virgina City, you have to stop at the Roasting House for some coffee or hot cocoa. It's so adorable!

The Roasting House is a really cute café. It's located in one of Virginia City's historic brick buildings. The seating on the inside is really cozy, but there is also outdoor seating where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains to the East. I did not get the friendliest welcome when I first walked in and placed my order, but the lady that made my drink was very friendly and fun to talk to. Try the Eggnog Chai, it's really yummy!!!

We were in Virginia City in the off-season so not a lot of places were open, but this place...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! They roast their own beans, make delicious coffee, and the staff is SO NICE. They are so welcoming and engaging and the shop is bright and cheery. I wish I had been there for lunch to try their food!

Coffee drinks on the Comstock! [Virginia City NV] We were planning on having dinner in South Lake Tahoe so we skipped having a meal here in Virginia City. Instead I had a scoop of ice cream. It was around 3:30p and this cafe was our last stop. They only had 4 flavors available. It's okay, I liked 50% of the flavors. I chose a scoop of Cookies & Cream. The cafe is located in an 1876 brick building best known as "The Brass Rail Saloon" before the Roasting House took over in 2011. Pretty cool that the original Brass Rail saloon counter still stands and now serves as a full service espresso and old fashioned soda bar. Would love to try a waffle sandwich... the Morning Glory sounds divine! or maybe a Breakfast Bagel, or a Turkey Bacon Panini... ahhh! Take me back!! Review #3644

This place is a gym. The lady at the counter was very nice, pleasant, and she knew her stuff. This is a beautiful place, and you can see the mountains in the background at their patio. They have great coffee, and is very good tasting. They have a giant roasting machine right in the premises. You should come to this place.

Historical building with a quaint coffee roasting shop. The scent of roasting g coffee coming out the rustic door is intriguing. We did. It get coffee... came in for ice cream. Double scoop was huge.... They have 4 flavors along with a huge selection of smoothies and shakes. Nice balcony out the back door let's you look over 6 mile canyon and the sierras.

Breakfast Bagel upgraded to a waffle

It has been a bit since I have been in The Roasting House and a good bit has changed. Today we were here for breakfast. The restaurant is still clean with plenty of seating at tables and the coffee bar. The staff was nice but wasn't too personable. The menu has been condensed down and a good bit of choice has been take out (before you could choose your meat-now they come as is). The food now comes out in to-go containers and paper bags with the food wrapped in foil (regardless of dine in or take out) instead of on regular plates. My dad and my husband had the Breakfast Bagel on an everything Bagel. There was an abundance of scrambled egg and ham and it was well seasoned. I had the Breakfast Sandwich also but upgraded to a waffle instead of a bagel. Mine was more waffle than egg and ham. The waffle was soggy. The sandwich was very one note. I probably will stick to the Roasting House for my coffee instead of food.

The Roasting House in Virginia City is such a hidden gem! We stopped in for a drink while in town for the Father Daughter Dance and loved the cozy, historic vibe of the space--it's housed in a beautiful brick building from 1876, formerly The Brass Rail Saloon. On our way out of town, we grabbed some cold brew to go, along with their Cold Brew Concentrate in these stunning blue flip-top bottles--such a cool and unique touch! The coffee was smooth and delicious, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if you're exploring Virginia City or just need a great cup of coffee in a charming setting.

I got a lavender latte and my partner got a peppermint mocha. The lavender latte was perfect and just what I needed on a rainy day. The views in the back of the cafe was absolutely amazing! Would come back for their drinks. It did take a bit long (about 20 min for two drinks) at 2pm ish but wouldn't mind it if I'm not in a rush!

Came here while in VC photographing a wedding and the latte and breakfast bagel was sooo good! It was very clean and WARM inside. The ladies working there were kind and welcoming as well.

My girlfriend and I came last weekend for our first time at The Roasting House. It was cold outside and we were in the mood for some good hot chocolate. Walking in we were greeted right away. I asked if they had any dairy alternatives and I was surprised by the number of dairy free milks they had. I chose oat milk, it's my favorite, and my girlfriend went with regular milk. While our drinks were made we wandered around the small cafe. The deco is cute, they have curtains made from coffee bean sacks. In the back of the cafe they have an old fashioned and still working coffee bean roaster. We were a few minute too late to see it in action but hope to catch it sometime soon. We got our hot chocolates pretty quickly and they were both delicious, better than some other places that I frequent. Between the service and the drinks, we plan on coming back often. I highly recommend The Roasting House!

We think there may have been some recent movements by the owners, and for the purposes of this review, I'll go with this Yelp entry the matches the pictures to what we experienced. Today was a quiet post-New Years day and Gayle wanted to dine someplace besides the Red Dog Saloon (our "usual"). The Canvas Cafe (or whatever it's called now) was just a block or so down C street and open. The dining room was small, cute, inviting, and warm. It was also a "one man show" today as one guy was working both the kitchen and the dining room (and very well). I especially appreciate a really busy guy who maintained a relatively high service level, with a smile and a generous side of patience. We all ordered sandwiches, including French Dip for Gayle, Smash Burger for Darling Granddaughter, and a grilled Chicken Pesto for me. Everything was delicious, with my only regret being that I should have ordered the impressive side salad that Gayle chose. A small bag of chips really didn't do the sandwich justice. I would have also preferred a beer, but there was no alcohol served today, and my bottomless glass of lemonade was more than just fine. Gayle and I agreed that we'd love to come back in whatever main place or annex. It's a fair drive back to Genoa from VC, and we were happy to head down the hill full and happy.

We shared a prime rib dinner. Our server Kristin was a really nice young lady. We enjoyed some coffee while we waited for our food which arrived shortly. I have to say we were really surprised how good this prime rib looked. I mean it really looked amazing. As we dug in we were kept saying how good it was and in a casino restaurant at that! The meat was so tasty as were the vegetables that came with it and the baked potato. We couldn't have been more pleased. Awesome food and great service in a laid back atmosphere. The food left lots to be desired. To start, we had the macaroni wedges. These were fried perfectly but only had the macaroni inside-no cheese. The cheese was the nacho cheese on the side to dip it in. With how hot the wedges were the cheese sauce did not stick to the wedges. My dad had the fish and shrimp. The platter was basic and had no seasoning. The fish was cooked correctly but the shrimp was very undercooked. My husband had a bacon cheeseburger. The burger came out very burned, dry, and without bacon. A side of bacon to add to his burger came to the table when he was about 1/2 way done eating. I had the BLT. The bread was soggy and soft. The ratio of bacon to tomato to lettuce were extremely off.
