Terrible experience with Randall at Sierra Valley Pool Service. He installed my pump without a GFCI breaker, as required for safety, and failed to install the proper suction valve -- instead forcing in a nut that damaged the threads. The filter valve leaks and the entire area under the filter is wet due to this poor installation. and he sold me an oversized 2.7 HP pump completely unnecessary for my 1.5-inch plumbing, showing poor judgment and lack of expertise. To make things worse, he left my pool without chlorine, allowing algae to start growing. On top of all that, he overcharged me thousands of dollars for pool cleaning and didn't even use the right chemicals to treat the water. I have paid close to $1,000 to get my pool clean on two occasions. The first time there was no transparency regarding the service fees and no paperwork outlining the cost. I felt that something was wrong and I spoke with him and he immediately threatened to put a lien against my property, which is ridiculous considering no paperwork was ever signed and established. Last month Randall said he would be doing regular maintenance on the pool. He failed to reach out and update the situation. During this time I paid to get the pool cleaned and he never finished the job and sent his wife to do what he agreed to do, which was never completed. Nevertheless, the pool was never adequately cleaned after paying a substantial sum of money. I would steer clear from this service at all costs! read more

I wish I could leave a negative number of stars. I am extremely dissatisfied with the interaction I had with Randall of Sierra Valley pool. He was hired to find where my pool was leaking. After a couple of hours he confirmed my suspicion that it was in the return line from the pump. But that he was unable to locate the exact place as the leak was too large for his equipment to detect. He still charged me $550. So he came out spent a couple hours messing around with the pool and the pump, did not do the job he was hired to do, but still took the $550. I thought he was going to come back and do some more work to detect the leak, but in the meantime somebody came out and fixed it by pouring some sort of leak stop stuff into the pipe. My thinking is it couldn't have been a very big leak if I can of Goo would stop it. And while I don't mind paying someone for the time they spend, a decent hourly wage would be appropriate I think, I should not be responsible for the entire $550. read more
