Monique is everything you could possibly wish for in a wedding coordinator. We contracted a "month of" service, though she really did touch base with us over the course of nearly a year. I've thrown massive corporate events and have had to project manage as part of my day job, so I took on my own wedding in a similar mentality. What could a wedding coordinator possibly do above and beyond what I can't? A lot. We planned our wedding remotely from New York, so vendor recommendations were critical to our success. We had to rely on phone screens, skype chats, and photos for most of our vendors. All were excellent recommendations and at a certain point, our decisions really became financially based because I never saw any "red flags" from anyone she recommended. We opened up our "rehearsal dinner" to all of our guests, so needed some staffing help the evening before the wedding. Even an ad hoc staffing request (someone who helped set up and clean up) at a private residence was fantastic. We hopped on several conference calls with Monique as our date approached and she was so helpful in coordinating with all of our contracted vendors with all the last minute updates and details. As our guest count fluctuated up until the last minute, she stayed on top of the vendors and made sure everything was well communicated. The day-of was impeccable. I hardly had to lift a finger to do anything. Everything was well organized and on time, she made sure we were well fed, all the photos were taken, and that we were having a great time. If anything went wrong during our wedding, I have no idea what that could've been. First of all, we knew of Monique because my now husband, met Monique while he was a part of his good friend's wedding. He remembered how smooth she made it for them on their day, that it was a no brainer to meet with her. From the first day we met with her, she was very organized, detailed, and informative. She is so prompt in her responses, and basically spelled out everything it would take for our big wedding and we were hooked. It didn't take long for us to book her. Once we did, oh lord, were we grateful. She is so good at what she does. She isn't a middleman. She is like a sports agent. She has your best interest at hand, and delegates, wheels and deals on your behalf as if it's her own wedding. She is so welcoming, so sweet, and so good at what she does. We had a lot of things that changed throughout the course of our planning, and she took it in stride, always with a smile, and very to the point. She didn't sugar coat things, and was honest so we knew exactly what he had to pay, what to expect, and what to do. She set a strict timeline for us to follow, and to have special dates to have certain things done. I mean, talk about amazing. She made some vendor visits with us, asked pertinent questions, and always tried to get the most bang for our buck. On the day of the wedding, Sept 6, 2015, we have no doubt that it went as smoothly as it did, all because of Monique and her team. The rehearsal the day before was spelled out specifically down to the minute, where everyone had to be and what they had to do. She executed that and rolled with the punches the day of the wedding. Certain things had to be changed, and when we asked her, she made it happen. She never showed stress or disgust. The bride's family asked to have a money dance which wasn't accounted for. We told monique, and she said no problem, and made it happen. She really made our day so very special for us. When I became engaged, I knew the wedding planner would be the most important element to nail: after all- they are the ones that orchestrate your ceremony and reception, and recommend all of the various venders that execute your vision! Plus, if they are good at their job, they keep you calm and manage everything behind the scenes so that you don't see any of the hiccups that inevitably happen! As a stressed, perfectionist bride, I did my fair share of interviews with planners. Meeting after meeting, I left feeling the same: that I was being fit into a package formula that included X number of phone calls, and X number of emails included in the service... Considering that you go into wedding planning knowing NOTHING about the industry, I worried that I would be left scrambling to "figure it out" myself if I exceeded my "allotted communication". When I initially spoke with Monique, she immediately demonstrated her know how and provided guidance to me, despite the fact that it was just a consultation. I could tell that she was a businesswoman, yes, but more so that she was incredibly passionate about what she does, and takes great pride in making every bride feel like her number one priority. The remaining eight months since I booked Monique until my wedding day, that is exactly how I felt. Her "month of" package is really a misnomer--she worked steadily with me for three quarters of a year to make sure that every decision was made in a timely fashion, to my satisfaction, with precision. Even when we had a lull in decision making deadlines, she checked in to keep me on track, and updated me religiously with helpful checklists and spreadsheets so I felt in control of the process. When I had to choose vendors like chair rentals, florals, or bands, Monique didn't just "phone it in" and send me to her #1 contact. Instead she researched various options based on my budget and tastes, and provided me with comprehensive bids from companies. I never lifted a finger (or the phone), because Monique had everything handled and then handed to me for my simple approval! For instance, when I discovered that the 'preferred florists' on my hotel site's vendor list were double my flower budget, Monique hooked me up with an amazing florist and secured me a personal discount so that I could get the flowers of my dreams for half of what comparable companies were quoting! When I was considering cutting chiffon chair drapes from my budget because they typically run $10/chair, Monique found a tiny shop in downtown LA that would do it for $2! Monique is extremely organized and professional. You can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that 'she's on top of it'. In addition, she's incredibly kind and generous. When my future mother and sister in laws decided they needed help with the rehearsal dinner, Monique allowed us to add on to our planning package an incredibly fair amount, and she completely took over to relieve their stress as well! She goes above and beyond, which is a sign of hard work, but she also anticipates your needs, which is a sign of talent. My now husband who does a lot of executive hiring agrees that finding someone in a support position who 'knows what you need before you do' is incredibly valuable and rare. There aren't enough words to express how happy I am with Monique's service--I truly LUCKED OUT in finding someone that made my wedding preparations, and day, easy and fun! read more

One of the best wedding-planning decisions we made was to book Monique Atwell from A Signature Wedding! I was relaxed and enjoyed my wedding day to the fullest knowing that everything would run smoothly because of her efforts. Others might say that I'm usually a bit of a control freak, but felt that I could completely trust Monique of A Signature Wedding to take care of everything! My fiance and I interviewed several coordinators prior to deciding on one, and we were most impressed by Monique. We went with her month-of wedding coordination services because we had already done a lot of the planning. We mostly needed assistance with selection of a few additional vendors and tying it all together to ensure that our special day ran seamlessly (which it did)! Most remarkable were her organizational skills, attention to detail (even more than me), professionalism, and positive attitude. She really listened to what we wanted and did not try to push us into any decisions. She regularly provided us with an updated wedding-day timeline and to-do list to help us to stay on track. She also provided many useful vendor suggestions. For example, we requested her assistance in selecting an alcohol vendor to deliver alcohol to our event. She researched multiple vendors and provided us with a bulleted list comparing the details of what each vendor offered, as well as a spreadsheet with price comparisons. It made that portion of the planning so much less stressful. Another very helpful thing that Monique did was provide an end-of the wedding night checklist detailing where all of our wedding items had been put at the end of the night (ie guest book, flowers, left over food, cake topper, gifts, cards). This way, there was no wondering later on. Throughout the process, Monique was caring and kind, and she worked well with all vendors. I received multiple compliments from my other vendors on how easy she was to work with. In short, our wedding day would not have been the same without Monique Atwel! I can't say enough positive things about Monique and A Signature Wedding. We would not have had the amazing day we did for my daughter's wedding without her. What was supposed to be a "month of "planning with Monique turned into a 2 year journey through the challenges of the pandemic. She was able to help us through all the waiting, changes, delays, and nerves with calm assurance that it would come together and be an amazing day. She relieved so much of the burden with trying to navigate everything in the new and ever changing reality of the pandemic. She was professional and covered every detail, she stayed informed and shared her information promptly and with kindness and understanding of our concerns of how things would come together. In hindsight, I can't imagine anyone trying to tackle a wedding without an wedding coordinator! When I first started planning my wedding I thought I could manage it on my own.. I quickly discovered that it might be wise to bring on some support. On a recommendation I contacted A Signature Wedding. I loved that A Signature Wedding had many different options within their organization regarding how to utilize their services, from "day-of" to the full package. I wanted to take a moment to share what an incredible experience I had working with Monique at A Signature Wedding. Now that the wedding is over, I truly miss her and our communications! I contacted Monique in early November and asked her to help me with my wedding that I was trying to pull off on January 13. With barely two months of time to prepare, A Signature Wedding truly created the wedding of my dreams! I have family and friends saying it was one of the most unique, beautiful and personal weddings they had ever been to. I consider myself a pretty creative person with alot of ideas, but that was taking me in many directions and Monique was excellent at really listening to all my thoughts and crystallizing that vision into the perfect venue.This girl is super creative and polished. We wanted to honor the mission trips that we take to Rwanda, Africa so we designed the whole sweets table with fabrics, bowls, pictures and artifacts that my husband and I have brought back from mission trips and in the center was a wood carving of a woman carrying water...that is the mission work that we do..it was so personal and so incredible. She also suggested bringing some other personal items from home that really created an ambiance of intimacy that suggested it could be nobody elses wedding but ours. And she just smiled when we told her that our bulldog Mylo would be our ringbearer, she helped facillitate a dog friendly venue and he looked pretty spectacular in his tuxedo:) Monique also has such a great network of vendors that worked within our budget as well. She found us an amazing photographer, Jim Kennedy, who had alot of experience shooting weddings at the venue, and he was very generous with his photography package..largely due to the relationship he has with A Signature Wedding and the florist that she found, Flower Allie in Fullerton just surpassed all my expectations. I would never have found these vendors without Monique. She also worked really well with our DJ that we have used for many events, DJ Bobitto and his team..it was seamless.....and my runner...Monique found this fabulous fabric in Los Angeles and it was stunning! It had embroidered rosettes that looked so lush! She also put together a team of firedancers and firebreathers to end our evening while the guests held sparklers...dazzling:) Needless to say, It was amazing. I would be remiss if I did not mention that Monique's team that I met "day of" was just great too. I woke up that day so peaceful and can honestly say that I did not stress out over one thing. Shannon was with me in my room and made sure that I had what ever I needed before I could even think of it! It was very comforting to always have someone close by to be serving your needs and Monique and her team were always close by but completely unobtrusive. That is the true testament of a great wedding planner. I honestly had not picked out my venue or sent out my invitations 30 days before my wedding and if you would have attended, you would have thought that it was a year in the making. There was not a detail left undone.
