I ordered some of my usual vegetarian options- sweet potato tempura, peanut avocado, and cucumber avocado rolls. Not much you can mess up about these but they were well packed in their container, ingredients fresh and well-divvied throughout tightly rolled pieces! I always forget that I should tell them I don't need more wasabi, ginger, or soy sauce packets - these come in cute little containers but it's a lot of plastic. Their to-go bags are also some of my favorite, as they are branded, lightly insulated, and reusable! Crazy Stone is my go-to place for sushi. Dine in or take out, you can't go wrong. read more

The restaurant is deceivingly large with plenty of tables and they take reservations, which we love. The faux cherry blossoms make the restaurant very inviting. Our server was exceptional. He was very attentive, but also gave us our space to mull over the menu and enjoy some date night conversation. For apps we tried the gyoza and money bags, which we enjoyed. The sushi was good not great. There's an extensive selection of special rolls, though many feature spicy fish (not our preferred texture) or are fried. Crazy stone, for me, was a little off the beaten path. Yet, I feel like I've discovered a hidden gem. Their menu is expansive, with countless types of sushi- your classics and some inventive dishes. The service was quick and speedy, which is good considering the restaurant isn't the biggest. The sushi was incredible. Truly, some of the best sushi I've had in Massachusetts. While it is expensive, it didn't feel overly so for what I was getting. We had the tuna appetizer which had spicy tuna between fried rice which was incredibly flavorful and fun. I had the Hot Girl roll which I would highly recommend, along with the Black Jack roll which was a fantastic balance of spicy and sweet. The spicy tuna roll was also quite good and had a lot of tuna! I was pleasantly surprised to find a sushi place of this level in Marlborough. There is a nice, casual ambience and if you sit in the back, a nice view of a lake (there were swans the day I went). They have an extensive menu, with fresh uni (but a lot of the time the uni is sold out, so I would call before you go if you want it). Cuts of fish are generous and fresh, as are the servings of uni, crab, roe, scallops, and tuna on the uni don, which was what I ordered--it's pricey but after I saw how much you get, I think it's worth it. My family stopped by for lunch at Crazy Stone on a Sunday evening. We were on our way to an event in Boylston, MA, which was about 30 minutes away. Parking was ample. The mall strip that the restaurant share it's space with also had an Edible Arrangements, Deg's Cake, a candy store, and more. What convinced me to try them was the cherry blossom trees that decorated the restaurant. What I didn't expect was to be blown away by the stunning view of the Hager Pond when we were seated. I can only imagine what the pond will look like in a month when all of the lily begin to bloom. For appetizers, we ordered the All In Sampler, the Salmon Dream and the Aji Tataki. Presentation wise, the All in Sampler was the best. It also tasted the best. The only problem was eating it since the round tin would tip over inside of the glass goblet. A small spoon would have been appropriate to serve with this dish. Despite the plating mishap, this dish was delicious, everything was fresh. Although both the Salmon Dream and the Aji Tataki were delicious, however, both dishes were smothered in a savory sauce. I wanted the fish to stand out more. I probably wouldn't order these again but this does not mean you shouldn't try it since both were delicious. My family love salmon so my husband ordered three pieces of salmon belly nigiri and Sake Don. The salmon belly was fatty and melt in your mouth delicious. Each piece was garnished with shaved truffle and green onions. I highly recommend this nigiri for salmon lovers. The Sake don had plenty of salmon and ikura, both were fresh. Again, plating could use work. The daikon and tamago was chopped into cubes. Not sure if they did this for the kids but if this is how they serve it to adults, I'd skip this next time. I highly recommend ordering from the Chef special menu. I tried the Wagyu & Egg Nigiri, Sweet Shrimp & Ikura Nigiri, Hotate Nigiri, Madai Nigiri, Kinmedai Nigiri, Chu Toro & Truffle Nigiri. All were delicious! No complaints! The plating so is cute with a little blue bird perched on a Sakura branch. No sake in the sake bottle though, just decorative. I would highly recommend this place for the special item menu and sushi, the interior decoration, and especially the stunning view of Hager Pond from the back of the restaurant windows. Great food. Great service. While I mostly do takeout I am finding there is way too much packaging associated with each dish. All the containers are plastic and it seems like there is no concern for economizing the packaging and its recyclability. Each menu item is separately packaged, seems excessive and wasteful. Also, I end up with double the wasabi that I do not need. Would expect more paper based packaging and maybe a checkbox for sauces and the like, as I bring home and have plenty of soy for instance already in fridge. Any considerations along these lines just offers a bit more environmental attention and concern. read more
