Like everyone else, we yelped to look for guidance and honest feedback when scouting for services. As a busy parent, I don't write reviews unless I think it could be beneficial to others. They simply beat their competitors in many ways: 1. They keep their overheads minimal in order to offer lower estimates. When I yelped, they did not appear immediately on the top of our search. It takes a little bit of scrolling down. Please be aware, Yelp gets paid for businesses to appear on the top of your search. They also do not waste expenses on brochures or unnecessary costs that customers end up paying for to keep the lights on. 2. More budget friendly. I called and booked about a handful of highly recommended pool companies for estimates based on highest number of reviews. In the end, our experience is upsell, overpriced services, and unfriendly detailed contracts of extras. I yelped again for the second round and included A to Z Pool because they advertised "budget friendly". This was the smartest first step for us. 3. Genuinely helpful and upfront. We immediately met with Albert, the owner of the company, who was very helpful in guiding us which option holds out the longest for our money's worth. He did not push sales at all, gave us great recommendations on what we needed, and was able to start and finish within the two weeks we wanted. 4. Clear communication and reliable. We had the following work done: demolition, replace tiles, replastered mini pebble (hokkita George), add baja shelf, repair mastic, replace old filter, and lastly include start up services. Communication was clear with Albert, who directed the crew each day. They arrived on time every morning and completed each task in a timely manner. If you are particular about anything, make sure to let them know. I certainly did when my spouse had our steps too narrow together. I asked them to extend it, and it was an easy, quick fix. 5. They exceeded all our expectations in terms of doing quality work and keeping our yard space clean afterwards. They did not cut corners to reduce their cost, and we all saved because they kept their overheads minimal. That's the primary aspect of how they can offer the best price for the quality work they do. A to Z made it so simple and positive for us in the entire process. This review is based on our experience and overall satisfaction with them. I highly recommend you to give them a chance. I contacted 4 different contractors to quote the job. These guys ended up giving me the best deal and they worked within my budget. Albert kept in close communication the entire time and set expectations on completion dates. They actually completed the job earlier than expected! The final product is stunning. We have owned our beautiful home for 56 years, buying it brand new from a model. Over the years, we have dealt with MANY contractors. This review is long over due. We had Albert come out 3 years ago and replace our fiberglass pool to pebbletec. We had 2 other companies come out and tried to upsell on additional things. Albert promised us that those other things were not needed and 3 years later he's right, the pool is fine without those additional things like re-barring and new coping. He saved us a good amount of money. I think the thing that won us over with albert was his patience. My wife went back and forth with which tile design and pool color at least 20 times. Albert assured us that he just wants to be happy and to take our time on the decision. To say that he was patient and understanding was an understatement. Minor hiccup along the way with the tiling, but Albert called his crew 2 or 3 more times to make sure it got done. And he came back seVeral times to make sure the job was perfect. In the end, we love our pool. Our kids and family always used to get real itchy from our old fiberglass, but now with the pebbletec it makes the pool feel like a resort. I really believe he's a man of his word. I recently called him cuz I had the chlorine real high and was worried it would damage the pebble, he reassured me that the structure of the pebble would be fine. I built my in ground rock Jacuzzi back in 1999 and i was in dire need of new plaster and needed to add a handrail, since my knees have gone bad in my old age. I have been looking for someone to do this upgrade on my Jacuzzi for some time now with no success. That was until I met the owner Albert at A to Z pool plastering. I usually read people fairly well and when I met the owner, Albert, I instantly knew this project was in good hands. Albert is respectful and honest and does his work at a fair cost and on time. I never even shopped his estimate around. I went with him because I knew the project would be done right! I was 100% correct in my assessment too. Albert estimated my job at 2-3 weeks and it was! The cost estimate was also very reasonable. Now I was a little concerned about resurfacing my Jacuzzi in pebble coating. Albert put all my concerns to bed and explained everything in detail. We were too quick to review the pool plastering work of A to Z Pool in April. Since then we asked Albert about replacing our pool filter, and he offered to do the work. Well we never saw Albert in May when he offered to do the work, or anytime thereafter, only the person he sent out to replace the filter. That person did a lousy job the first time, filter leaking and no communication about how to use the new filter. After having let Albert know this, he admitted he'd never used this person before, but sent him out again to correct the leak and enable the back flush valve to work. After more leakage, we determined that the filter was bad (a crack in the fiberglass), and more importantly, that he had not reconfigured the filter so that the top of the Pentair filter could be removed for maintenance. Albert had said he'd not send the same person out again, but after the third problem, Albert was prepared to send him out again. We'd paid Albert $300 for the labor and parts for this job, and at this point we had no confidence that Albert would make this right, so we asked for our money back. He refused, and we ended up paying another $340 to have the job done correctly. Thank you Blue Marlin Pool. To make matters worse, we had major grout failure on the waterline of the pool because it was not properly sealed. This started only two months after the pool plastering job. Albert made no effort to correct that situation either, and so after over two months of attempting to get him to do the right thing, ie, refunding our filter money and fixing the grout, we cut ties with him. Albert is not a professional in attitude or follow up. Should you have a problem, you're likely to get the "I'm busy" and in my case an LOL when I confronted him on the issues. The pool has been part of the house when purchased about 30 years ago, and it hasn't been properly maintained since then. We were doing a lot of searching on Yelp for good quality, affordable replastering services. A to Z Pool Plastering came up and the quality of work looked pretty good, and we were already in talks with several local competitors, so it just made sense to call Albert and run some ideas/numbers by him. When we ran the higher estimates from competitors by Albert, he told us for those prices we could have an entire backyard landscaping done by his crew PLUS a replastering. We were able to have good room to negotiate a much better price than competitors for what Albert did for us: BRAND NEW coping, tile, demo work & replastering, plumbing, water line rerouting, electric work, LED lighting, and mosaics. We booked him around his busiest time (early/mid July) but he made sure to make time between more demanding clients to get us done. He was timely, took all COVID precautions for himself and the crew, and was very friendly about all questions and concerns you have for him. I met with Albert in July 2020 because, like so many other homeowners, now that we were stuck at home, with nowhere to go, we started noticing all the things that needed to be fixed! My pool was very old (30+ years?) and the grout was chipping, the brick coping was broken in areas, the white plaster had been turning gray/black for the past 3 years and it was finally time to address everything. After meeting with 3 pool contractors, I felt like Albert was the easiest to talk to (very easy-going personality) and I felt like his pricing was fair. We were hoping to finish our project by the end of the year, but Albert was so busy, we got pushed back several weeks. We ended up starting demo the week of Christmas 2020, then finished up in February 2021. The first time Albert came to give me a quote, he said it was a 6-week job and it ended up being a 6-week job (so he knows what he's talking about). By the time we got around to the tile work, a lot of tile was out of stock. I had picked a "runner-up" tile for the planter wall before the job even started because when I went tile shopping, my first choice was already out of stock. Well, Albert pulled off some magic and had some contacts in the tile world & found my first choice of tile! Thank goodness! It looked great! With a pool remodel, you just have to keep in mind that your pool isn't the only job going on & many things can happen to throw a wrench into your timeline. Even though my job started a little later than I had originally planned, it all came out beautifully and I have no complaints. Albert was good at giving recommendations and we had to bounce ideas back and forth when something unexpected came up. Also, I went from a white plaster pool to a Pebble finish, which I found was extremely hard to pick a color. It's impossible to know what the finished product is going to look like when you are looking at a dry sample that is only the size of your palm! This is where Albert was extremely helpful as well. He even coordinated a time so I could visit a past job & see the color in person. I ended up going with Aqua White (which is actually very blue!!) because I wanted to stay on the light blue side of water color and wanted to make sure my pool color didn't end up being dark! I was very happy that I chose to work with Albert and A to Z Pools. The pool turned out beautiful and any "hiccups" along the way were dealt with easily. As a side note, our neighbor went with a large pool company to put in a new pool, and only had complaints along the way. Large pool companies use a lot of subcontractors. A to Z Pools has their own crew for probably 90% of the work, so I think it's easier to schedule the work. After 12 months, my neighbor's pool STILL isn't completed! I highly recommend A to Z Pool Plastering. We originally got an estimate for replastering back in October 2021, but decided to hold off until we were really ready. At that time we got 3-4 bids. Albert's estimate was very reasonable, not the cheapest one, but he was very knowledgeable and didn't want to up sell me. Given the inflation situation, we got an updated estimate which had a slight adjustment nothing major.
