Yeah, this was a no. We contacted them about hauling out some palettes, and asked them to call us back to schedule a time to look it over. An employee just showed up, without calling or scheduling, to see what we had. We showed him the palettes, and some other products we needed destroyed (excess inventory). He tried to (a) walk off with some of the inventory, to "see if there's a market for it" (um, what part of "certificate of destruction" didn't you understand, (b) gave us a hard time about the lack of a loading dock (sorry, office building), and (c) looked over our plugged-in, turned-on computers and asked if he could "take the eWaste." It was, frankly, a weird, creepy experience I do not want to repeat. read more

We had a 100% great experience with Jim Jones and A to Z Recycling. We had a very, very large, old electronic assembly machine in our garage that we needed to have removed. It was not easy to find someone willing to come and do the job. It was an unwieldy, extremely heavy piece of equipment and either a lift-gate, a forklift or some kind of complicated winch system was required. I talked to several different metal recycling / hauling businesses that wouldn't or couldn't do the job and the owner of one of them actually gave me Mr. Jones's number, saying he'd heard really good things about A to Z. I called Mr. Jones and had a brief conversation with him. He asked some questions about the job. I asked him for a quote and we agreed on the price and the date and time. He was congenial and it was a no-nonsense, easy phone call. He arrived when he said he would, prepared with a friendly second person to help him and a truck with a lift gate. The two of them knew what they were doing and worked smoothly together to load the giant machine safely and efficiently. I want to emphasize that this was a job that could have gone badly in several ways if the person moving the machine didn't know what they were doing or weren't prepared. It was huge and heavy and could have hurt someone or caused property damage in the wrong hands. Mr. Jones knows what he's doing. It was an all-around good experience for us. Fair price, clear communication, reliable follow-through. Problem solved. I would definitely call Mr. Jones and use A to Z again in the future. read more

I have known Jim Jones Since 1998. I've always found Jim to be very punctual and easy going. What else can one ask for? I keep calling him to pick up my ewaste, in fact, I just got off the phone with him and we have an appt next week. I'm not sure what Sarah M's problem was with Jim but she must have been having a bad day because Jim is one of the easiest going people I know. read more

Not the right number. I called and some weirdo answered the phone. Said that he does recycling but not a recycling Center.

My items were not like 'office item removal" like some reviewers, but rather "bulky" items. Disposing these items are rather costly today so I contacted Jim, who was recommended by the local Waste company. Perhaps my job was too small, but you really have to stay on top of him to get returned phone calls. He would not commit to any appointment setting that is more than two days out. So, if you're trying to plan, organize and structure your move in advance, he can't/won't commit; thus, not the right service for it. His rates may be cheap, but I ended up wasting time and energy that didn't pay out to savings. read more

I would never do business with this company. This guy comes into our office, asking for the owner, was told we would see if he was available and to please wait. He decides to come past our front desk, gets in my face asking if I was the owner and shoves his card in my face. We are all about using local businesses and recycling but this guy was rude. I don't care if you are a free pickup service or not. Show some patience and respect for people and maybe you'll get some business. read more

I called several places and could not get anybody to come out for a small amount.If they can't fill half there truck your out of luck.Jim was great said he would be out in 45 minutes,was on time and very personable.Would definitely use him again. read more

Had Jim come pick up a ton of old computer stuff. He was prompt, friendly and professional. Great service and it was totally free.

Contact Jim on his phone. He's pretty responsive, but you gotta be on it and call him the day before and the day off, otherwise it will take longer to haul your stuff away. He does what he says he will do and is easy on your pocket around East Oakland. Make sure to ask him if the price is total, we had a little miscommunication on who pays the dump fee, but he worked with me and we resolved it fairly. Call, ask for price, and when can the job be done. Call again and remind him. Jim is friendly and seems pretty busy. read more

I am pretty confused about the few negative reviews here. Jim came today to pick up some equipment we had had in our office for a while which was just taking up space. This is E-waste which you can't just toss in a trash receptacle and it was big, besides. He removed a large copy machine and a huge laser printer left by the previous tenants. He charged a very small fee due to the size of the equipment and the trouble he had to go through to get it out. He also took a large box of spent laser toner cartridges along with the equipment, when I asked him if he would take those, too. This is stuff that I would have had to figure out what to do with or drive it somewhere myself to drop it off. I had already called a number of places and most would not take it or quoted a huge fee to do so. Jim was very polite, punctual and professional and I have no issues whatsoever recommending him. Bottom line - he hauls your junk away for FREE, or maybe just Practically Free, but still, he comes to YOU and hauls it away. What more can you ask for? If you are looking for some place to get rid of your old office equipment, please do not hesitate to contact this company. read more

I am all about recycling and feel more people and places should do it! This place is great and I would give it more stars, if it was not for my encounter with a guy by the name of Jim Jones who really made my skin crawl and was just plain out rude and when I asked a question he went into some rant about what his Momma or Grandmomma would say....there really is no need for someone like that to represent this place. I had made sure I had told enough people about this place to go and now I told them about this creep and because of that they now go to places that are farther from their homes! This guy is extremely unprofessional. I called him on a recommendation to pick a very old plotter 2 pieces. I told him that the items were old and he gave me a price which I thought was cheap and agreed to it. He told me when he would come but never showed up. I called him and asked if he was going to come get the items. This went on for 4 weeks and he finally shows up. He brought one other guy with him and he started complaining about the plotters being too heavy, he wanted more money, he didn't know it would be this hard to move. I paid him the quoted amount and he calls and wanted more. He was rude and unprofessional about this whole dealings. He may be cheap but he's not worth the time and energy. Extremely unprofessional. Agreed to take all scrap from location, showed up on day one and took the highest priced metals and then gave excuse why he could not return the next day to salvage the lower priced metals. Would not recommended. read more
