Stopped in one day as I recently moved to the neighbourhood, and I'm glad i did. They offer the healthiest foods for your fur babies and at a really great price. The staff is always so friendly and always willing to help out. They offer grooming services but you have to get on the books early as they book up fairly quick. I love that when you sign up for their rewards program they give you a reusable bag, and they have days where they run specials and you get discounts when you bring in that bag and use it. Best grooming experience we've had in St. Louis. Devon always does a great job with my dog and it takes around 2 hours normally which is great for me to get some errands done. I love their treat and toy selection and my dog enjoys sniffing around the shop while waiting for her grooming appointments. Staff is very friendly and great customer service. read more

This place is a wonderfully run small business and I will definitely be coming back! I lost my mom unexpectedly and took in her two senior pups. They desperately needed grooming and I couldn't find anyone to fit them in for weeks. So glad I found this business because they were able to get my mom's pups in within DAYS and they look soooo much better! Our elderly dog got a cancer diagnosis, so we went into the pet store to ask if there are any food or supplements that would help him. We took their recommendations. The cost did add up BUT it cost a whole lot less than the surgery he was going to need for 1 to 2 thousand dollars. Airedale Antics is absolutely wonderful! I'm from out of state and moved to the Maplewood area so I stopped in solely out of convenience. THE STORE: I only have a dog so tbh, this is gonna be geared towards dog stuff... Huge selection of homemade and other dog treats. Tons of good looking dog food brands (including mine which is typically harder to find!) and toys & bones galore! They are so nice and helpful too; you can really tell they care. Also, they do fun events and charity fundraising! They did pictures with Santa and a certain day of the month (I can't remember if it's the first or last Sunday of the month) they have a discount on nail trims but the proceeds go to an animal shelter... They honestly rock. GROOMING: When my dog desperately needed his nails trimmed. He is INFAMOUSLY bad about getting this done, in the past it's always taken 2-3people to get it done; he despises his feet touched and he's distrustful of people messing with him because he has had bad hips (severe hip dysplasia + a hip replacement surgery). HOWEVER, the lady took him back by herself and came back a little bit later with a happy dog. I was AMAZED! I asked her what her secret was and she said since I'd warned her about his anxiety with it, she sat on the ground with him and worked on him more slowly (although I thought it was pretty quick!). I've been here a handful of times. The first time, I was really underwhelmed. The person working did not seem to know much and either didn't have what I was looking for or didn't know the inventory well enough. I walked out pretty disappointed. I happened to go back during Maplewood's Christmas walk and another time after that, and both times, I was much more impressed. Both people who helped me (one was an owner and I think the other might have been, too) were very knowledgeable and gave me advice and even samples of foods instead of pushing me to buy right away. They carry the foods that I feed and even some I hadn't heard of. I only buy great food for my cats and dogs so of course I expect to pay more for it. I looked at the raw food in the stand up fridge and it was about 3 months past its expiration. Eek! They have a great selection of dog and cat toys, some of which I haven't seen anywhere else. My pets' stockings were stuffed almost exclusively from here! There is grooming available but I haven't taken advantage of that. I come to Maplewood often and this place is really convenient for me to stock up, so I'll be back. There also is a small discount to use cash here. read more

Airedale Antics is a wonderful local pet products store that also hosts adoption businesses to raise awareness for adopting rescue animals. I love stopping by during Maplewood festivals to see the adoption animals and let my dog pick out a treat from their great selection of handmade cookies with quality ingredients. They carry a lot of smaller brands that have all natural ingredients. I would shop here more often if they also carried a couple of the more popular brands like Blue Buffalo. I tried a different brand of food here for my dog and he wasn't having it. I would much rather spend my money locally than give it to PetSmart! I will still shop here for some special treats and always come by for some rescue animal cuddles! read more

The folks at Airdale Antics seem very friendly and their prices seem reasonable. However, the first time I took my collie there for a shave and shampoo he came back with a bleeding foot. I figured it was just an accident, and since he wasn't badly injured, I let it go. Recently, I decided to go back for just a shampoo and grooming. The man on the phone quoted me around $50, but the actual charge was over $70. And for the second time my dog came back with a bleeding back foot. Fool me twice, shame on me...I will not be going back to Airdale Antics. read more

After trying even the best brands at retail stores and not having any luck, it was suggested that I start him on a grain-free diet...which makes complete sense! What cat in the wild eats grains? And he is much happier (and fatter) because of it! I've also tried the dog grooming once. They did a good job, but the price was slightly on the higher side. I go to Airedale Antics for all my dog food purchases. They stock healthy, organic types that large retailers don't offer. They also have a pretty good selection of dog treats, but not much else. It's located right on the main drag in Maplewood. The owners are definitely friendly and very helpful and knowledgeable. The last time I was there, they were out of stock of the type of food I needed and wouldn't be getting it in for a week or so. The owner sent me home with about a two week's supply of kibble until the new shipment came in and she called me as soon as it did. They don't really carry much in the way of toys or supplies (dishes, leashes, collars, etc.). That's the only downside. read more

I have a very shy cat (Sweetheart) and have struggled to find someone kind to just give her a bath and trim her back side up every few months. UNTIL NOW! I am SO thrilled with the job that was done and she was not traumatized when she came home!! Her fur looked like VELVET, smelled great and her trim will help keep her cleaner. The staff was kind, listened and was invested in my furry child. I also found a cool little 'house' with scratching side that they let me test her on for a moment to ensure she 'fit'. I adopted a mini dachshund puppy in May 2018, and to my surprise, he ended up being a longhair! His parents were shorthaired - I wasn't prepared for the maintenance that goes along with long haired dogs. I was constantly cutting knots out of his fur, and it was becoming impossible to trim his nails because of the hair between his paw pads. I live near Airedale, and prefer to support local small businesses, so I decided to take my boy in for his first groom today. They let me drop him off without an appointment, and they fit him in within 3 hours. It was hard leaving him there, but he was in great hands. When I picked him back up, he looked and smelled great, his fur was so soft, and his nails were trimmed perfectly short! He's definitely happier without all that fur, and I'm happy with the convenience and the quick and friendly service. We will be back! read more

Muuuuch better. After a disappointing experience at Lola and Penelopes, I decided to give Airedale Antics a try. One plus? This spot is right in my 'hood! Yay for super local businesses. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a friendly woman (who I'm assuming is the owner) and two sweet (but rambunctious!) dogs. The woman (she told me her name, but I forgot! Doh!) asked me if I had visited Airedale before, and when I said no, she proceeded to explain to me a little bit about what sorts of items she had there. I could really sense the pride in her voice as she described the types of food and treats that were available (only high quality, no grain or animal by-product foods). She asked if I needed guidance on which food to select for my cat, which I thought was really nice. I already knew what I was looking for, so I politely declined. I asked the people that work here about a good food for my dog. I bought the California Naturals dog food (after discussing different foods at length) because my terrier has tummy trouble now and then, and was several pounds overweight. She has been on this food now for about 4 months and it's made a huge difference, she no longer has the stomach issues and has slimmed down and seems healthier than ever. Airedale Antics has become the place I always take my pup to get groomed. I've used other places before and I've never been as comfortable with any of them as I have with Airedale Antics. They can usually get us in with a next day appointment and have him in and out very quickly (which for a Wheaten Terrier is a few hours). I also like that they do not make the dogs go in kennels before or after they are groomed. I feel like their prices might be a bit higher, but I think they compare to most other places around town and the extra TLC is worth it to me. read more

With their help I got my two cats converted over to the Primal freeze dried food and ever since then they have been healthier, and more active. I am new to the area and was looking for a local business to purchase dog food and get my dog groomed. I leaned towards Airedale Antics because of the reviews on Yelp. I will tell you that I was not disappointed. I went first to purchase dog food, prices are reasonable and owners are very nice and informative to their customers. The next time I went was to my 15 year old Lhasa-Poo groomed and I will say she did a great job. I was very impressed, it's probably the best grooming my dog has had in a long time. We went in today for the $5 nail trim that benefits Rescued Racer Greyhound Rescue (which we found out about from their awesome newsletter we signed up for...I highly recommend- it's the second Saturday of every month 11-2) The guy that did it is a vet tech and did great! Our dog usually tries to bite them at Petco, so we were relieved she did so well with him! This is separate from Airedale Antics, but the fact that Airedale Antics provides space for this rescue group to raise money by doing the nail trims is awesome! They also have their own grooming services, so it speaks volumes that they allow an outside rescue to do this since I'm sure it takes away from their grooming service income...by the way, they do nail trims for $10, so still a great deal! While we were there, we met the owner, who was very welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable! We bought some treats while we were there....to keep our dog entertained during the nail trim...which didn't work, but she loved the treats later when we were safely home, away from the nail trimmers! Amazing groomer!!! Maria is gentle and did SUCH a beautiful job on my new rescue doggie. Just look at the before and after pictures!! She also groomed our last dog who was a senior and also loved Maria. We probably tried 5 different grooming places in town and this is by FAR the best. It's super reasonable, the dogs don't have to wait forever in a crowded room with loud noises, and it just seems like a more individualized, calm experience. Highly recommend! First solely pet oriented store we visited since moving here almost 3 months ago. The mission was for our dog to get her nail clipped. We went on the second Saturday of the month (every month it's $5 and all the proceeds go to benefit a rescue). Super friend man and lady tag team. The lady was very calming and therapeutic in her approach towards the pups and the guy was very informational and efficient at the nail clipping. I never write reviews but this place deserves an amazing review. I was skeptic about going somewhere other than Petsmart but I have a picky eater and wasn't having any luck there. We walked in and were immediately greeted by one of the owners. We told him the problems we were having and he immediately went and got us a sample of the food he was recommending, there was no pressure to buy at all; he was just trying to help solve the problem. We decided we wanted to purchase the food he showed us after he told us about the guarantee. If the dog doesn't like the food, you can bring it back opened and get store credit so you can keep trying until you find something that works for you. We brought the food home along with a sample of a topper and my picky puppy absolutely loves it. We went back the next day to purchase the topper and she has been happily eating dry food ever since. These people know what they are doing and the quality of their products speak for themselves. I am telling all my fellow pet owners to give this place a try! And the best part? The food I bought her along with the topper is the SAME price as Blue Buffalo at Petsmart...total win!! Seriously, I will never go anywhere else; (except maybe for little dog toys because they seem to cater to the bigger breeds for toys) it is well worth your while to go look around.
