I went to this optometrist for a couple of years and didn't really have any issues (some pushing of extra tests at the beginning of the appt, but nothing crazy). I had a friend recommend dentistry when I was unhappy with my original and skeptical of a root canal referral (no pain), I saw Dr. Reardon and had a wonderful experience as he helped provide a second opinion on the root canal referral. A few months later, I saw Dr. Leonardo Lee for my 6 month cleaning (I had originally scheduled with Dr. Reardon, but had to reschedule and it slipped my mind to ensure it was with Dr. Reardon). As an initial note, they make sure you fill out a form that details your preferences at a dental office (i.e, longevity or cosmetic, any worries like trust, finances, pain, etc.). Dr. Lee was pretty rude and kept making snarky remarks about my dental hygiene (i.e. I'm surprised you still have your permanent retainers -- with no prompts). I've always taken pretty good care of my teeth and haven't had any issues. Towards the end of my visit, he said that he would recommend me coming in every 3 months for a cleaning until he see progress. He also wanted to fill a cavity prior to the follow up appt, which seemed fine but keep this in mind for later. This felt like a money grab -- but what's more, I left feeling discouraged and confused. I went to another dentist not too long after (not changing anything in my hygiene habits), and they told me that my hygiene was great and my teeth were in good health (unprompted from me). They used the same x-rays that had been taken here and said that everything looked good (I didn't need a filling). Later I mentioned the recommendations from this office and they said that was unnecessary and likely a money grab. This completely ruined my experience with this office unfortunately. If Dr. Reardon worked closer to my location and at a different office, I would definitely make him my regular dentist, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend. read more

Well George is at it again. Just got a call from A Wink & a Smile because they said I owed them money from an appointment from a year and a half ago because they didn't take my insurance. When I asked them why didn't they confirm my insurance before my appointment (keep in mind I had been going here for over 5 years with the same insurance) they said they must have and it was a "he said, she said" situation and they had dropped my insurance before the appointment. When I said there is no way I would have gone there if they didn't take my insurance they said they would "check their cameras" to see if they did?!? Terrible terrible office team avoid this practice at all costs. read more

This will be a long post so please bear with me. I went here for a cleaning and a check up back in February. I was first confused by the set up. You walk into an eyeglass store and past that is the dental office. Anywho, I was greeted and given a new patient gift. That was nice. They gave me a quick office tour and then I saw the dental hygienist who took my xrays. After that, I met the dentist who actually did my cleaning. It was cool cause I was able to watch Netflix while it was being done. After the cleaning, he told me that my teeth look great and I'm doing such a great job cleaning it (woohoo). He then went over the xrays with me and said that I needed 5 fillings and 3 crowns. Wait- what? You just told me my teeth were great. The bill was going to be about $5k. I gulped. Ok..let me think about this. I went to another dentist for a second opinion. I brought them the xrays that A Wink & A Smile took and low and behold, the dentist told me that she didn't think I needed ANY fillings or crowns. Stop it. The only thing she recommended was another cleaning. I have always hated the dentists cause I feel like they're just trying to scam you left and right. This is the first place that actually solidified that feeling. read more

Just wanted to add a review of my favorite dentistry office. I went yesterday for a deep cleaning, and was apprehensive because my former dental hygienist has moved on. Well, miracle of miracles, my new hygienist was every bit as awesome as the previous. Jasmine is caring, intelligent and very good at what she does. She continually kept me informed as to what she was doing. She was extremely concerned with my comfort, and it showed. The entire experience was over before I knew it and I felt great (and my teeth look wonderful!) I heartily recommend A Wink and A Smile in general and Jasmine as your hygienist in particular. I was really impressed by the cleanliness of the office and the professionalism of everyone I met. They were all very helpful and knowledgeable. I desperately needed a new dentist and hadn't had my eyes checked since before the pandemic. I thought it was so clever when I received a mailer offering both services at one location. Lucky for me that Jenny answered my call. Jenny was able to introduce me to the practice, calm my fears, schedule appointments for me within my time constraints, all while remaining calm, caring, patient, and professional. Upon arrival to my first appointment, I was greeted with a gift bag personalized with my name. I was escorted by Z, a technician with 17 years of experience, to an examination room where he offered a blanket, pillow, Netflix, etc. Dr. Reardon was prepared when he walked in and introduced himself. It was obvious that he had reviewed my chart and X-rays taken by Z using innovative technology. He presented options and formulated a customized plan for me. Next step was the eye exam and Dr. Lee did not disappoint! Using the latest technology, and her attention to detail, my prescription was perfect. George helped me pick out two frames and delivered them in rapid time. I was overwhelmed by the client-based culture that permeates this entire practice, monitored by Meg, the office manager. Few practices can compare to the technology used here. I don't know of any practice that can compare to the respect demonstrated for clients. read more

From a first impression, walking into this establishment had me surprised on how beautiful the place was, the staff were friendly and the amenities were great. Once service was rendered things just seem to go down hill from there. It took a month to have the staff e-mail me an itemized receipt so that I could file it through my HSA. Every time I would call, the answer would be someone will be sending it by the end of the day but that never happens. It wasn't until I had to come in person to get anything done. I decided to give them another chance and rendered service with them the following year. I dropped off my kid's glasses for replacement and was told it would be ready in about 2 weeks. 2 weeks goes by, I called to follow up and was told that it will be here by next week. Next week comes, I called again and I get the same response. This goes on for nearly 2 months. I wasn't so upset due to the fact it took that long but more upset with the fact that I was told it would be there by next week each week that I inquired. I can honestly say this is definitely the last time I would ever use them for my eye wear needs. Nothing against the doctors there but they definitely need to get their customer service in order. read more

My family and I had been longtime patients of Dr. Lee's - even referring numerous other patients to his office. However, we will not ever be returning. At our last appointment, he tried bullying me into getting a seemingly unnecessary x-ray for my daughter - telling me he couldn't perform the cleaning unless she had the x-ray (it had only been about a year since her last x-ray and he hadnt even opened her mouth). I had merely asked that I be given the opportunity to research x-rays further. He "compromised" by letting us wait every 18 months but lied to me and told me that the board would take his license away if he didn't perform an x-ray every 12 months. In the past, the front office staff has always been very friendly and helpful. They didn't say a peep to us as we checked out that day. Going so far as not even having my daughter pick anything out of the prize box. All respect has been lost for Dr. Lee and his office. read more

I've been a dental and vision patient at A wink & a smile for the past two years both Drs.Lee have been exceptional in explaining and applying any procedure. A true high tech facility that provides service to for the patients and for those in the spacious waiting room where you can "Netflix and chill". A Wink and a Smile has everything going for them. The ladies who run the front desk are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. They make every patient feel welcome and comfortable. Every dental hygienist and assistant has been wonderfully patient and thorough in their examinations and cleanings. I am especially grateful as I am a patient of A Wink and A Smile but my 5 year old son was not. He received Novocaine at another practice for some cavities and in the afternoon the school called and he had literally chewed through his lip. His dentist was closed and I was seriously considering taking him to the ER. I called A Wink and A Smile and explained the situation, they graciously squeezed us in within 20 minutes of the call to take a look at him. Dr. Lee was very calm in dealing with my anxious five year old and set my mind at ease while he explained what the next steps would be. I have the up most respect for the team at A Wink and A Smile, because they sincerely care about the happiness and comfort of their patients. read more

We have gone to A Wink & A Smile a couple of times since they've been open (vision side only) and had a good experience one time and the next time the frames we ordered got lost in transit. Due to no weekend hours it took us a while to get back in and pick a replacement frame, but when we did, they rectified the situation and were very professional and made sure we got what we needed and then some! Minus ten! This office has quite a scam going on. I had been having regular exams and cleanings by a dentist in Maryland for the last 8 years whom I just loved but thought I should find someone closer to home. This office was in walking distance from my home. I too went in for an exam and routine cleaning. The hygienist took the X-rays and then gave me the hard sell for oral cancer screening which according to her may or may not be covered by insurance... it was not! Against my better judgement I agreed to it. After I was seen by the hygienist and dentist I was told that they could not clean my teeth because I needed deep scaling. I was also told I needed multiple crowns and bonding on a few teeth. I was given a treatment plan and After they maxed out my insurance for 2018 and 2019 I would owe them several thousand dollars! I was quite surprised by this and found it hard to believe my teeth and gums had deteriorated in such a short amount of time. I was not having any pain or bleeding gums. I decided to get a second opinion. After a 2 month wait to get in to see a new dentist I was told by the hygienist that my home hygiene was excellent! The dentist recommended 2 simple fillings to replace 2 older fillings. When I showed them A Wink and a Smile treatment plan they were shocked and assured me that was not necessary. In reading past reviews I see I am not the only one who was told this by A Wink and a Smile. I not only saved myself thousands of dollars but I'm sure a lot of pain! read more

I chose Wink & a Smile for the convenience of optometry and dentistry in the same location. I found both doctors to be professional, effective, and very attentive. However, in addition to their limited hours, I was not satisfied with the insurance and billing interactions. I was asked to show up early in order to confirm my insurance was accepted. My eye insurance seemed to be fine, but the dental insurance needed more work, but they sent me back without checking. As it happens, they are not in-network with my insurance and additional x-rays were taken and services were performed that were not covered. I called ahead, requested they confirm my insurance, showed up early as requested and in the end I find myself with a bill. In my interactions with the staff on these issues I have felt more like a commodity than a patient. I have decided to find services elsewhere. read more

Minus 10 I went to have a cleaning and a check up. The appointment went from getting a cleaning to,no we refuse to do a cleaning,to no,we won't clean your teeth,you need a deep cleaning(they never told me how much,but it is between $1000 to $1500) They also want to completely restore my mouth,teeth will fall out and my whole mouth is a disaster and I must get multible crowns otherwise I will be in pain,and of course I absolutely must buy a special toothpaste and rinse. So,what I am trying to say,they are upsell big time,I never got a basic cleaning,because they want to do the expensive cleaning and sell me an outragous amount of dental surgery. I go to the dentist twice a year and haven't been told in April that all my teeth suck,I will have 3/4 of my teeth restored and if I don't they will fall out and be sensitive and results will be a lot of implants. Given that my teeth suck,I would believe it,but after more thinking about it ,I decided to go back to my old dentist,because they are not upselling as badly as Wink and a Smile is. Pisses me off,that they refused to clean my teeth,want to "restore" my mouth and when I addressed the one crooked tooth in front,tried to sell me a veneer and gum surgery. I just want the tooth to look like its neighbor,my gums are fine,they are not receeding or uneven and I also don't need or want invisalign. I really felt like they are trying to rip me off big time,I am an easy victim due to my teeth being bad,I do spend a lot of money on them and I am easily manipulated. Going back to my old dentist,who is trying to sell me a whole lot less. read more

I have been going here for years! At first, for convenience of living in Lansdowne. But I now live in Chantilly and still trek out this way because I love the doctors and staff! It is amazingly easy that every 6 months I pop in to get my teeth cleaned and on every other one of those, they just work me afterwards for my eye exam. Boom! Done! Easy peasy! I also love that the couple works together instead of opting for separate offices. Something about that just makes me happy. Everyone is so catering and helpful. I have been going to A Wink and A Smile for I believe 4 years for dental and vision. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. The office Manager, Denise is FABULOUS! She always remembers my name and is very good about explaining the details of the why you need the procedures recommended by the Dr. and the subsequent finances. The eyeglasses/Sunglasses selection is FANTASTIC! Their frames range from the standard ones carried by your insurance company (i.e. Davis Vision has a separate selection of frames) to Tiffany&Co, Michael Kors and Gucci (to name a few). At the end of the season there are also an ample amount of frames on the sale shelf as well. Dr. Lucy is good about not pushing things that you do not need. When my prescription did not change, she did not push for me to get new glasses. She simply asked if they were doing ok. I chose instead that year to buy prescription sunglasses with my insurance allowance. I was able to get Michael Kors frames and lenses for $15! I recently moved out of the area but will continue to come back to this office even though it is 35 minutes away. I always feel welcomed at this office and you can't beat the fact that you can knock out 2 appointments at one time! read more

This Dental Service is nothing more than a "bait and switch" scam. They will tell patients that they accept whatever insurance you have and then encourage you to do all the various high-end expensive preventative procedures. This a really nice office offering both eye care and dental in the same place. The front desk is really nice and the girls are extremely helpful. They assisted with my insurance filing and went out of their way to help me. The doctors are really nice and everything seems first class and quality. The dentist was very calm and helped me overcome my dental fear. The hygienist was also very gentle and caring. They also helped me pick out a great pair of sunglasses! I saw Dr Lee for dental fillings in November last year. I walked out with a chewed up bleeding tongue (due to the local anesthetic and lack of observation on the staff's part) and painful teeth for the next 3 weeks. Upon returning to say my teeth were still extremely sensitive, I was told to give it 3 months! Having had a number of fillings in my lifetime, this was the first time I had ever heard of such a thing. I gave it 4 months and was still in pain. I went to a different dentist (one I would highly recommend) who said I needed the fillings removed and to be replaced with crowns. 2 crowns later and I'm no longer in pain - just more out of pocket! The handling of my insurance was also abysmal and I was told to pay more than originally informed. I can therefore not recommend Wink and a Smile at all. read more
