Very excited to be able to see out of my windshield again! I didn't realize truly how bad my windshield was until I got it fixed. I called at 8pm. Lucky was scheduled for service the next day between 10am-12pm. I received a call at 10 AM stating that the technician was at my home. I live in an apartment complex so I have to go outside to let him in to the gate, roll down my windows and he told me he would be done in about an hour. I went back inside got a call about 45 minutes later stating that my service was done I went outside and paid them and now I have a brand new windshield!! I had that, "OH $#*T" moment on the freeway, you know when you're driving behind a big rig and a huge rock comes crashing into your windshield. I didn't know how much it would cost to replace it. By the time I got home, the crack branched out and only 3 inches of the windshield was NOT cracked. The first thing I thought was call my insurance. Well, I would have to pay my deductible and that costs more than replacing the windshield. I called the dealer and it would cost about $500+installation. I called 15+ glass replacement shops (Orange County and La County locations) and I learned some important lessons: Lesson #1) Mobile service should be included by most places. If they charge you, they are hustling you. Yes, HUSTLING YOU. (Mobile service means they come out to any location to install the new windshield) One company quoted me with an additional $15 for a mobile fee. I'd suggest going with another company. Lesson #2) Call several places to get the BEST price. I was quoted from $295 all the way down to $135. The cheapest quote was from A1 Auto Parts & Auto Glass. Keep calling places and let them know you are calling around. They want your business and they can ALWAYS go lower. I noticed when I would receive a quote, I'd say, "Thank you, I'll call back. I'm checking prices with other places." That would automatically get them to drop their prices anywhere from $10-$15 from the first quote. Lesson #3) Check the company websites for coupons. Some companies offer $5-$10 off if you mention their website promo. So, that may be another option into saving money. So, back to A1 Auto Parts & Auto Glass. The windshield I purchased was NOT the factory product; however it is one that is recommended from the actual dealer as a replacement. There are cheaper versions that are made in China, do not purchase these. You can purchase the factory one, but it is more. My purchase was $135 total and it includes a lifetime warranty. They came to my work to install it during my lunch hour. They took away the old broken windshield and discarded it. I'm happy with the service they provided. The gentleman on the phone who helped me was very helpful and didn't pressure me at all. He told me he'd do it for $135 and he understood that I was calling around to get the best price. The customer service and the installation process was great and simple. The installation took less time than me calling around and getting quotes. So, check this place out, they are fair. They also install it and I would say their prices are on par with most other places; maybe a little cheaper sometimes. Why im writing a bad review. I called the shop to ask if they have a window that I needed. The guy told me that he needs to check so he put me on hold until the point that he hung up. This happened 3 times. That was annoying. So instead of calling again, I walked in the shop. The guy behind the desk was talking on the phone, so I waited. When I got his attention he asked me what I needed and told him that I need a driver side window. While I was talking, he decided to answer the phone and take another other call. After his call with another customer, he tells me that I need to place an order first. First of all I dont even know if its on stock, never told me anything. Next, he didnt even tell me how long it will take for the window to get delivered and to be installed. All he told me is "you need to order a window and we will install it for you. The total will be $130". Don't recommend. Stay away. read more
