I paid for two replacement tires and the sales associate, Dan, said that they would likely arrive by noon the next day but that he would nonetheless call me when they did in fact arrive. Come noon the next day I had not received a phone call from A1-Auto informing me that the tires had arrived. I called the shop several times but no one picked up. I went down to the shop and arrived at 12:30 P.M. Dan stated to me in a very rude fashion: "I told you to be here at 12." I informed him that he did not tell me to be there at 12, but instead that he stated to me that he would call me when the tires arrived and that I should then come to the shop after I received his call. Dan then informed me that the closest appointment for rescheduling was 3 days away which was too long for me to wait. I then asked for a refund which I eventually received but still had to pay a $60 tire restocking fee which I shouldn't have had to pay because it was Dan's fault for not calling me to inform me that the tires had come in, which is what he said he would do when I initially paid for the tires. This place is a ripoff & they steal their customers' money. I instead took my business to Midas of Catonsville and received prompt, courteous & competent service. read more

I've been taking cars to Paul and his team since 2011. They have always done right by me and my family every time. They do quality, timely work, but more than that they are clearly out to provide the most trustworthy service they can. For example, just a couple weeks ago we got a quick oil change at a national quick-service place nearby and they botched the job badly (they drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil and then overfilled the oil). The team at A1 3 Brothers diagnosed the problem, helped me deal with the insurance company, gave great advice to find the most appropriate solution to get us back on the road, and "babysat" our car for way too long while this ordeal was handled. I trust this team implicitly for both the quality of their work and the advice they give--suffice it to say, as long as we are in Baltimore, this team will be our mechanics! read more

I have been bringing my 98 F150 to A1 for about 10 years. I live down the street, so it was convenient. But, the past 6 months to a year, the service has gone downhill. Most recently, I had my manifold gasket replaced, along with flushing my coolant system and replacing heater core ($3200). You would think that the "professionals" would consider what might happen next and warn me to look out for increase in temp. and watch the coolant level! But no, apparently, when they flushed the coolant and eliminated the gunk clogging the system, cracks in the head gasket were exposed. Within 1200 miles, coolant was able to mix with the engine oil and destroy my engine. $3200 for the manifold repairs. NOW, $6700 for new engine? The owner says "we didn't do anything wrong!" This place is NOT the cheapest....but I have to admit...they do GREAT work, and get it right. I had a bulb out in the rear lights.....tried to replace it, and it did not work. I had to accept I had an electrical issue, and took my car to be fixed. I have a 2004 Toyota Rav 4, just about 51k miles, and in GREAT shape. All in all...diagnosed, and replaced a rear right light housing.....and right rear lamp bulb for 380 bucks. They took apart a lot of the car to repair the issue. I am a cheap ass....but honestly Paul and his crew do work that I WILL NOT have to worry about later..and THAT is a RARE FIND in Bmore. If you want it done RIGHT, and at a fair price....this is your place. Cheaper...is NOT BETTER in Bmore. QUALITY COUNTS when it comes to my car. One suggestion. It is COLD in the waiting area when the for customers. EVERY time the door opened, you catch a gust of wind. Perhaps a small space heater for the customers? please? lol read more

WATCH OUT -- Untrustworthy Inspectors I am not the only one who agrees. If you keep scrolling, others have reported a something similar! Here's my story: I went here for an out-of-state inspection which took more than two hours when there were no other cars in the bays. On top of that I was told I needed several hundred dollars worth of repairs to pass the inspection and that they could do it: Two minor lights 5 dollars each, a strip light which they said would cost 250, and two steering clamps at 81 dollars each. Just from looking at my car, I could tell the lights were functioning. I got a second opinion and PASSED the inspection without any repairs saying there was no need for changing any lights or replacing steering clamps -- these guys tried to scam me and may try to do the same to you. I know that it is under the auspices of Three Brothers, but I am not sure if you are supposed to associate it with the all of the other business. Location: On Frederick Ave. past the Caton Ave McDonalds on the right hand side, if you are going towards downtown. Small white sign. It has a gas station out front. Staff: I have never had any problems with Paul or any other member of the staff. He has always been up front and honest. His prices are fair, and he is reasonably priced for the most part. He has helped me in a bind with my old car, and has maintained my new car. I never feel as though I am being taken advantage of, and they never talk down to me. For some reason this happens a lot when I go to other places. Also, if I have a question, they explain it in a manner that I can understand. I was omw to a wedding in NC, driving down 95 from Philadelphia. Got through the Baltimore tunnel and my car died. Got towed there and showed up expecting to replace my alternator (said they could do it same day and it was 2pm). Long story short, all I needed was a new belt. They ordered the part and I was out of there within an hour for only $100. I stumbled upon this gem back in 2012 when I left school late one evening to find that smoke was billowing out of the hood of my car. I pulled over, googled the closest mechanic, and quite literally rolled my car into their shop minutes before they closed. Paul and Dan were not only accommodating of my situation, they made sure my car was fixed by the COB the next day. I have continued to take my vehicle here ever since, and every time I receive the same excellent service and support. As a BCPSS teacher who works down the street, this place has quite literally rescued me from multiple flat tires and repairs, and has helped me maintain my sanity. I have referred multiple other teachers, and my family members here as well. Paul is so consistent with his high quality service, it's hard not to spread the word! I broke down in the middle of Baltimore on a hot July afternoon. AAA got me fast and towed me here since it is a AAA garage where they guarantee all repairs. They charged me very fair prices and explain everything to you without being condescending or making you feel stupid. The car was ready exactly when they said it would be and was running perfect. This place SUCKS!! I took my vehicle there for an Uber inspection. They said I needed a new wheel bearing. They want an outrageous price for such an easy repair. $489.00 to be exact. Needless to say I didn't get the repair done there. My regular mechanical was willing to do the repair for $200.00. Once the repair was done, I returned to have my vehicle reinspected. After it was reinspected, I was told that my vehicle had indeed passed the inspection, however the inspector who completed the original inspection had to be present to sign off on the passing inspection but was out due to family illness and they no idea of when he was going to return to work. A week later I got a call stating that the original inspector was back to work and that I could bring the vehicle back so that he could sign off on it. First of all, this was a HUGE inconvenience. Now don't get me wrong, I am very impathetic to the fact that the man had to be home to take care of his loved one in their time of illness. I totally and completely understand that. But they actually had the audacity to charge me for a reinspection after I misssed a whole week of Uber income. Being a repeat customer, I thought this was absolutely INSANE!!! That fee should have DEFINITELY been waived. Needless to say, I will never go there again for anything. Also I will definitely discourage all my friends and family from ever doing business with them. Paul and his crew are great! I had my car inspected at Firestone and was given a list of highly recommended services that I wanted to double check and see if they were necessary. Brought my car here and was told most of the services were not necessary (Paul even looked up what the car manufacturers recommend for servicing time) and for the ones I did need, the cost was cheaper to do here. The wait did not feel long and the customer service was great! Zero Stars After reading so many good reviews I sent my daughter here for an inspection of her car. Turns out that was a huge mistake as she was told that she would need almost $2,000 in repairs to pass inspection. I told her to get a second opinion in which she took the car to a dealership and she passed inspection and she doesn't need any of the repairs that A1 Three Brothers said she needed. I find it disgusting that they would take advantage of a young girl and try and scam her into spending unnecessary money. She is lucky to have parents that can call bullshit, but how many unsuspecting young girls have been taken advantage of because they don't know any better. Bottom line, these guys are great. I was inspected by toyota for $2k worth of issues with the probability that i may still have problems. I was skeptical. Then i took my car to these guys and within a day they gave me a full report supported by tests conducted with the results provided; toyota only gave me their opinion. They ruled out a number repairs initially suggested and found a few other potential things waiting to go wrong in the near future. I went ahead with the repairs expecting foe it to be done in 3 days. It was done in 2. I worked with Paul. He was friendly, informative and fair. I would definitely go back again if i had an issue. Also, these guys use email. Horrible service. I came to get an inspection and sat for 3-1/2 hours waiting before leaving. I was told they were taken as they were placed in the milk crate. Too bad I saw three people who said they were there for the same reason taken and left before I was started. When someone sets and appointment that's the time for the appointment. If someone else comes in afterward they shouldn't be serviced before others.i To make matters worse I get a call after leaving to update me on things and how they went down. The owner asks me if I read my email, and when I say yes and follow up to finish answering him he starts berating me about how they do things. I said great customer relations while I'm trying to answer you and talk. I wished him good day and hung up only to have an email from them. They not only fixed my car (I can't even see where the damage was), but they also gave great general advice and recommendations across the board. I went here based solely on Yelp reviews. I was very nervous considering I am from out-of-state and have had bad experiences in the past. With that said, I was *very* pleased with this business. I just got my second inspection done here for free as an uber driver. In and out quickly, professional and no repairs needed. Passed the safety inspection no problem and was painless. Last year I had to wait a little longer but that's the thing with first come first serve, but can't complain. Service has deteriorated SEVERELY. Each time I come or recommend someone there for the Uber inspection, the service got worse and worse. As others have stated, if you bring your car here for the discounted Uber inspection, you might leave with dash lights on or issues that you didn't come there with, and of course they will happily investigate the cause for upwards of a hundred dollars. Funny how my airbag light came on while I went there for an inspection. Car needed nothing but windshield wipers. When I mentioned the light they blew me off until I said I had a picture I took of the dash that same morning less than 8 miles difference in the odometer with no airbag light. This man looked at me and said, "Oh, so you just take pictures of your car dash for fun?" No SIR, THIS is exactly why lol. Not to mention, while I was sitting in the waiting room I heard one man explaining to someone on the phone about an airbag light found during an inspection, "but don't worry, it doesn't affect your state inspection... You still passed, and we can take a look at it for $x.xx." Mind you this is while I'm WAITING for my inspection to be done so I have no idea they are about to play me for a sucker too. Sorry, I'm not buying the "it's a coincidence." That's too much coincidence for one day. You can drink the Kool-aid if you want to though. Seems to be a pattern with who leaves what reviews, and most of the good reviews are from 2011-2017. Yup, in 2017 I wrote a 5 star review too, but I take it back because I'm not confident these folks are honest anymore, and unfortunately they've lost my trust. read more

I went to this place for Maryland inspection. Their reservation system was efficient, the staff members were professional, and cost was reasonable. They found a minor problem in my car (wiper change). They had to order the blades. Paul told me that the company they ordered the set from did not have the blades that my car originally had. Paul explained the situation clearly and gave me choices; coming back in a couple of days when the blades are available or install ones that are available then and less expensive. I asked his opinion and he shared his honest opinion of going with the currently available ones. I recommend this place for sure. read more

Went in for a free Uber state inspection. After they were done they came back saying I had a couple of faults that had to get fixed before I can pass inspection. 1.) Driver side windshield wiper doesn't wipe whole intended area (?) 2.) Driver side windshield wiper doesn't park correctly (???) 3.) At least 1 L.E.D light in side mirror's is out. (I checked it was only one tiny LED light) While I was there, I noticed every other person there for a free Uber inspection also had at least one ridiculous "fault" with their vehicle that had to be fixed before they could pass, and A1 gave them a quote for it and they would fix it on the spot for a cost of course. Anyway, I took my car somewhere else and paid to get the inspection done at a cost lower than what it would've cost to get the wiper and LED light fixed, and my car passed the inspection...no faults found. You should know, there is no such thing as free in this world. In the case of the A1 Brothers, their whole gimmick is to offer free Uber inspections and then come up with some ridiculous fault's so that they can offer to fix them for you and make some money. This is the only reason they offer free Uber inspections. I pride myself in being able to read people's intentions pretty easily, I could tell that they were screwing the other people in the shop over telling them about these ridiculous "fault's" their vehicle needed fixed before they could pass. Don't let that be you. read more

I started coming here four years ago for routine car work and an inspection. I originally chose this place because of the positive yelp reviews. I have never been let down by these professionals. They are friendly, easy to book, and most importantly, honest. While waiting for my car, every time I witness them answer the phone or talk to other customers, explaining what work needs to be done and also why. I can not speak highly enough about A-1 Auto Three Brothers. I'm a woman who moved to Baltimore recently and when I purchased my Honda Element six months ago from a used dealership it came with a ridiculous amount of problems that are not typically associated with Hondas what so ever. Three Brothers was the 10th mechanic shop I have taken it into and after calling several times, speaking with the guys who answered all of my questions about Honda specific parts and Honda anti-freeze, I decided to bring my Element in seeing as they actually knew what I was talking about and carried it at their shop. This was huge for me because 9 other mechanics couldn't figure out what was wrong with my vehicle even though I would tell them what was going on. The guys at A-1 listened to me and it seems like my little Element is on the right path. All said and done they had me in and out of the shop in a little over an hour for a tune-up and engine coolant drain/refill, treated me with respect and like a human being (this is huge for a woman at an auto shop), they created an online profile where I can review what was done to my vehicle, they quoted me a price when I made my appointment and on top of all of that they narrowed down what might be going wrong with my car and what has been causing all of its problems if my tune-up and Honda engine coolant don't fix it completely. I can not thank these boys enough. This was the auto repair shop I have been looking for since I moved to this state. Anyone that gives this shop less than 5 stars clearly has never dealt with other shops in Maryland. This is the only shop I will ever recommend to my friends in Baltimore. read more
