Any other smog person would just send me on my way and tell me to try "once your computer is reset". But not Jesus! Overview: This smog check station is very efficient and the employees are very courteous and motivated to help. I took an older car to this smog check station after the car had been sitting for years. I was nervous that I was wasting my time because it is an older car and I wasn't sure that it met the emission standards. I arrived at 10 am on a Monday and to my surprise, they were empty. They quickly pre checked my car to see if it would at least pass computer test, which it did. This location is the best in the area. Accessibility/ waiting area The location does not have any stairs and has enough room to stand outside in the shade or to sit in the waiting area. I did not notice if there was a public restroom but I would not plan on changing a baby diaper here as it is a smog check station and not a rest stop. There is an AC in the small wait room with a small tv but if you have children. I would recommend taking a tablet to keep the children entertained. There are two employees that were working when I arrived and many vehicles shows up at once after I was done, but I don't think the wait would be very long compared to other locations. Location: The station is located on the main road that goes through Barstow which makes it easy to access. If you are located on Fort Irwin, the Firestone does not have the required equipment for older vehicles. They are also unreliable because their smog check employee does not come in every day. This smog check station takes in walk ins and it is still fast! GO TO THIS SMOG CHECK STATION!! read more

When I arrived on a Friday morning around 11 AM, there was just one car ahead of me. I arrived without calling first, as lunchtime approached, on the 2nd to last business day of the month, and was pleasantly surprised to find there would be only a 15 minute wait, and the owner was more than happy to help me despite the fact that I had (as usual) misplaced the paperwork from DMV. True to his word, 15 minutes later he was waving me into the dock, and before I had time to edit the photo of the business (nor offer to turn down my stereo, which I'd left on quite loud,) he was done, ready to process my payment with a smile, quick wit, and a kind word. I apologized for the loud stereo, he replied "it's Frank Sinatra, who would complain? AND he's singing about New York!" I have now had my car slogged 2x by A1, each time I interacted with the owner, each time he was charming and friendly, as well as fast, and the job comes in at a mere $53, lowest price I've found in this small town. Worst experience. Scam. I called Friday to ensure if I drove to Barstow to get a smog they could fit me in on Saturday. He assured me they could, no problem. When I got there, the man Amid immediately told me how I was so pretty and had such nice eyes. How nice it was to have such a pretty girl choose his shop. He then asked when the last time I got a battery was. I explained i just got a new catalytic converter, new exausht and battery within the last 6 months so I am not even concerned about it failing smog. The man told me "are you sure the converter is the right one for your truck". I explain yes it is, I am confident in the shop who did it. He continued asking questions such as how much I paid, what model it is, where the shop got it from and proceeded to tell me before he can complete the smog he would need to take apart the truck to ensure the converter is the proper one for the vehicle. I got back in my truck and drove away. There is absolutely NO reason for any of those questions to even be asked. A smog will never require the truck to be taken apart. Just because I am a female does not give you the right to attempt to take advantage. I will never be back. read more
