Had my car towed in late Friday after hours, after spending the better part of the day broken down in the desert. Reached out promptly Saturday morning when they opened; unfortunately was advised they don't work on Mini branded vehicles, which I understood. They were understanding and helpful when I was in a bind and they graciously allowed me to keep my car on the lot for a couple days while I got things sorted. Got a piece of debris metal stuck under the plastic undercarriage shield on the freeway amd had to drive under 40mpg for several miles to get there. A few days ago I was heading up to Sacramento to visit family when I noticed a loud scraping sound coming from the front end of my car. I pulled into a gas station and called a few mechanics in the area before I reached out to Barstow Tire & Brake who either couldn't get me in or didn't pick up the phone! The customer service on the phone was excellent, and I was able to get in immediately on a Friday! I unfortunately can't remember the name of the guy who helped me out but as a woman traveling alone with her dog and who doesn't know much about cars, I felt very well taken care of by the team at this location. It ended up just being a rock stuck in my rotor which is really hard to see due to my rims. Not only did they fix it right away but they only charged me half of the diagnosis fee and sent me on my way! Normally when I visit a mechanic I find myself being charged more than usual (I always ask my dad lol) and getting the runaround when it comes to whatever is wrong with my car. It was very refreshing to come here and have someone be not only upfront about pricing but also have amazing customer service and be so forthcoming about any information I needed. On a recent road trip of the southwest we were passing through the Mohave near Needles on a very windy day. Suddenly we started hearing a rapid thinking from under the car: our splash guard had become detached. We've had this issue somewhat frequently with our Honda Fit and I'd already fixed it once in Vegas in a parking lot. We figured that it would be better to go to a mechanic to get the car on a lift and the splash guard re-attached. We made it to Barstow and it was just hanging on the car at the front, fully dragging. We went to Barstow Tire and Brake and they got us in and out in 30 minutes for $20. Fast, professional, and they really helped us out in a pinch on a day that they looked to be pretty busy. They even checked the tire pressure without asking. Highly recommend! read more

When we arrived, Michael immediately recognized me from our phone conversation and personally guided our vehicle and boat into the parking lot. Recognizing that the spare was just as old, we decided to replace three tires. What truly stood out was the team's efficiency and understanding of our situation. Multiple service technicians worked on our trailer tires simultaneously, knowing we were eager to get back on the road. If I could I would give them zero stars. My vehicle was purchased brand new off the lot in January of 2017. And has never had the check engine light on till 6 months ago. It so happened like most turbos they tend to start failing around 8-9 years in. So I located a certified car repair shop who did an amazing job fixing my car. That has been the only time I have ever had a major repair under the hood. So about 6 years ago I had purchased a reusable air filter for my vehicle and have had ever since. I recently took my vehicle to the Barstow brake and tire and asked them for an oil change. Which was very cheap. While I waited I asked the gentleman at the counter "Does the oil change also provide air filter inspection?" He stated "No, that is a separate service." Once my vehicle was ready I had driven not only half a mile before my car started stalling and was having difficulty moving forward in drive I immediately called the shop and explained the situation and the fact that my check engine light had just came on. The employee who answered the call stated that I would need to take the vehicle back for further inspection. I was to heated to return calmly. The following day i called the shop at 8:30 am and asked the employee who answered the phone"May I ask what all services are included when you pay for an oil change?" The employee replied, "oil change, oil filter replacement, fluid levels and the air filter." I then said "thank you for verifying that. I recently had my oil change done there and after I drove off the lot not even a whole mile up the road my check engine light appeared. Can you explain how that is possible when the codes are related to my MAF?. He then stated I should bring it by Monday morning at 8 am. Which I did. The owner thought it would be appropriate to raise his voice at simply because I was upset and wanted an explanation. Not only did he not even attempt to remove the cover of my air filter to verify that maybe my air filter might not have been properly replaced. He continued to stare his argument that the employee did not touch anything near my air filter or my MAF sensor that they only provided an oil change. I explained to him that on my receipt that I received after payment clearly states that that my air filter and fluid levels where checked. The owner then stated that is our standard receipt for oil changes. With that statement not only did he admit to me and in front of his employees that the information on the receipts are false they also lie to customers. Come to find out today when I had a hunch to check my air filter. It so happened to be a brand new throw away air filter that was not even properly installed correctly. Not the original reusable air filter I had purchased years before. There has only been three individuals under the hood of my car myself included. I will return tomorrow morning with my facts. And I shall return with the final results of issue. read more

I have dealt with Barstow Tire & Brake for at least 20 years. I was very disappointed on my last visit today. I was first told that my 2021 GMC truck was not in their computer system and it was showing up as a Toyota Tundra. I then waited for approximately two hours for a oil change, to find out that they did not have the proper oil and could not get it. I then drove home and upon checking under the hood to determine the size of my motor, I was surprised to see a section of hard plastic cover, laying on top of the engine and not attached to anything. When I contacted the service desk I was told that they found it that way and failed to tell me. He stated that the mechanic just closed the hood after he noticed it. read more

I went here for a tire rotation and a front end alignment. I watched the tech rotate the tires. He switched the front and rear tires on the same side instead of rotating them. When he put the wheels back on he tightened the first lug all the way down and did the same for every other lug. I canceled the alignment. I told the service writer why I cancelled. We were traveling to lake Mohave and stopped in Barstow for breakfast and gas, when we noticed a tire on our boat trailer was very low. We first stopped at "Ameri-can't" tire , NO HELP. We found Barstow tire and brake who were very busy but said they would fix the tire. When they start working on the trailer they put rags on jack as not to scratch the paint and after they plugged the tire there was a problem with one of the wheel stud threads as the lug bolt would not go on. They took the wheel back off and repaired the thread and would not charge us to fix the treads as we had already paid. NICE PEOPLE, QUALITY WORK! read more

Called 3 other tire shops in Barstow and there was at least a 2 hour wait for a repair, but Barstow Tire & Brake only had an estimated 30 minute wait. They charge $30 for a tire patch but after removing the nail and checking the pressure there was actually no need for a repair! We've used BT&B for years, but it was sold to a new owner about 2 years ago and the service is unreliable. Hubby took his truck in for 2 new tires. When we got home he checked the two new tires & found one of his lug nuts Cross Threaded. We took it back for them to fix, only they again used a impact wrench on it and Tore Off the lug nut completely!! Had to bring it back another day for them to Replace the lug nut , Then they wanted to charge us for it. My husband refused to pay for damage they caused directly!
