That was great. Part of it is that I had a much older opener but such is life. It worked, so we used it. Then the older opener would travel a foot or two and stop out of the blue. Determined that it was a glitch in the rather old electronics of the opener so I got to shop for a new one. Had a (very) little domestic argument as to which opener we should get. She suggested the least expensive one that worked, but I was the one who went to pick it up. :-) We now have an Alexa enabled opener. I can open the garage with my voice. Heh. So what happened here is that I picked up the opener to be installed and for $379, they installed it. It was just an opener but he set up everything. The laser safety beam to keep it from closing on your toes, the backup battery for when the power goes out and even the keypad for when you've forgotten your opener. No upsell, no nothing. Instead of admitting he did not have a clue on how to fix the problem, or calling a colleague for ideas, he essentially did nothing useful for 2.5 hours, and then had the aggressive audacity to charge me $690 - for NO FIX. I have tried to call the main office several times to discuss, and sent email - no answer. I called Door Pros after that and their guy fixed the problem in 30 mins for 1/3 of the cost. read more

I bought a door via Lowes, these guys measured and confirmed door dimensions 8/1. Around 10/10 I called Lowes to see what the delay was. They all claimed "someone" dropped the ball. A1 never answered the phone or my voicemail. On 10/27, the door finally shipped. Lowes then informed me it would arrive by 11/10. It's 12/10 and not scheduled yet. Sharing my experience here: My gate opener suddenly stopped to operate. I called to requested a diagnostic service with fee for $298. The technician arrived within 2 hours of my call. He offered me 2 estimates. First is to recover the opener's function by replace circuit board and RPM board and add a safety eye for $2003.69. He urged me better not to repair because not worth it. and highly recommend me to replace the whole opener with estimate $5489.00. After the technician's departure, I connected plugs that the technician had disconnected, the opener has been functioning since then. I do not understand why the technician recommend replacing circuit and CPM boards? For what? I am confused and unhappy to say the best. Perhaps the managerial term can educate me on why? I paid $400 to get two locks fixed on my garage. The one on the left hand side worked exactly once when the tech was there (even he had to struggle), but the first time I opened it, it was jammed and I couldn't even get my key into the hole. The company has a 30-day guarantee, but after begging them to honor it for weeks and explaining to them multiple times that they are denying my claim because they think I am referring to the lock on the right hand side of the garage, they are patently refusing to honor their word, and have made it clear that they know they are deliberately cheating a customer. I am a single mother from a long line of veterans, so I always patronize veteran-owned businesses because I believe that I can trust them to provide honest service. BUYER BEWARE - This company is falsely advertising on google under Sonoma Overhead Garage Doors. A1 Overhead is not part of Sonoma Overhead. When the service technician, Adan, arrived to install my garage door for $499 he quickly increased the price an additional $299 plus parts to mount the operation motor. He immediately proceeded to try to sell me a new operation motor; he told me that my motor needed to be replaced for an additional $899 because the motor was burned out. I refused to buy a new motor, and after he installed my garage door, he left my garage door not working. I spent $848.00 to install my garage door. The next day I called another company, ACE Overhang Garage Door and the service technician told me my operation motor was fine and not burned out, but that the last installer dis-equilibrated it and it needed to be reprogrammed for it to open. Also, he explained to me that the wires in the remote control on the wall, A1 Overhead had installed were not hooked up and that was another reason the motor did not operate. A1 Overhead falsely advertises under another company's name. A1 Overhead does false advertising on its installation prices. A1 Overhead will try to sell you an operating motor you don't need for $899. A1 Overhead will purposely sabotage your working motor so it does not work and you are forced to buy a new one, or you will have to hire someone else to come to repair it. Garage door opener only opened the door a foot and stopped. After all my troubleshooting I suspected the spring. Emailed them on Sunday and they called Monday morning to set up an afternoon appointment. The tech showed in the window quoted. It was a spring and cable issue and both were replaced. Door works better than it has ever had. Before it jerked and rattled going up and down and was hard to open manually when the power was out or recently when it stopped going up. Our garage door broke at 6pm because we were manually lifting and closing our electric garage door with the PG&E power outages. WATCH OUT! One of our two garage doors was malfunctioning. We did not need and never asked for service on the door that was working and were never told that any would be performed. Asked what the service would cost, the technician said $298 and had us sign a smart phone screen that did not show the total amount due. Our credit card was charged $596. When we called, we were told that the charge was for two garage doors. The only problem identified was an electric eye out of alignment, which the company says it fixed for "free."
