Cannot recommend A1 enough. This review was long overdue after our initial stellar experience with them about a year ago. We moved into our new home in early Jan 2025 and began to hear signs of rats/mice in the attic. Devin came through for us and guaranteed what no other company could do -- a 100% satisfaction guarantee. When dealing with a rodent issue (first time for us) it is true cortisol spike to say the least, but A1 alleviated so much stress. Complete proofing, zero poison use, total sanitation, proper safety measures, and routinely checking the traps for weeks on end, all led to us never having to hear or deal with another sign of rats or mice. I had a family member who also were dealing with rat issues in their home simultaneously and went with a different company, and unfortunately dealt with repeat infestations. I could not have felt more pleased that we went with Devin and his team because it proved to be the winning choice. They truly have your back and don't waste your time and money. Over a year later, and I want to express my gratitude again for their top tier (and FAST) customer service/support. Safety and cleanliness continues to be their number one goal, and it definitely shows in their craft and passion for this line of work. We had plumbers come in today to lift our in ground tub in primary bathroom to fix the water line and to our horror found an insane amount of rat droppings and signs of old infestation underneath. This was old material that would not have been visible without lifting out the tub, and not visible during the previous years visit. I didn't feel comfortable with the plumbers simply "sweeping up the mess" as they suggested. This process did not sit well with me, and I immediately thought to call Devin. He recommended exactly what I quickly remembered his previous system was, which was to properly vacuum and completely sanitize the area. He was able to squeeze us into his schedule same day, and we could not be more grateful for his professionalism and expertise. A1 really wasted my time. I called to schedule an inspection, and they gave me a 10am-12noon window and emailed me a confirmation. The day of the inspection, I had rearranged my schedule so I could be at home. 10-12 came and went, then I got a call saying it would be 2pm. Later get another call saying could we reschedule to next week? I was very annoyed and told them I rearranged my schedule to be at home, so they could either come today or not at all. They promised 4pm, but eventually came around 2:15pm. A week later, I still had not received a quote. I called them, was told a quote would be in my email in 15 minutes. Checked my email, even checked my spam, nothing. Very unprofessional company. Response to owner: My appointment with your company was on April 26, 2024. Just want to help Devin and Rayanne out by writing this review. They didn't request me to write one but I feel it's the least I can do for their services. A1 Rodent proofing is a family owned business which I really appreciate. Devin's crew is great and gets the work done. For over a year now I've been dealing with rodent problems in my town home and we had a rat problem in 6 other units joined to me. My HOA did absolutely nothing and I had to call different companies to "fix" my problem but the rats kept coming back. I've spent thousands trying to patch holes here and there but when I found Devin, he really clearly broke it down for me and said the whole entire building needs to be sealed properly. After getting my neighbors all on board (which was a crazy ordeal in itself!), Devin and his crew came to work for the entire day! Sealing the whole building and making it rodent proof. They came weekly to check on traps and caught a bunch of them in the traps in my crawlspace! I appreciate Devin being an honest and decent guy which is hard to come by these days. He really took care of me ensuring we'd have warranty on his work and he was confident in the work he does which has proved to be done well after a few months of trapping. Though A1 proofing may not be the cheapest you'll find around, it's reasonably priced and they deliver their promises and don't make promises they can't keep. Rayanne the wife schedules all the appointments for checking traps and Devin does a good job of not ghosting you when you call. He's busy so he may not respond right when you call but he's pretty good about returning calls. overall, please save yourself a lot of trouble. They came to spray for ants, and the ants were still there within a week. We called them back and they sprayed again but the ants never went away. We spoke to the owner Devin and asked him for our money back and he gave us all sorts of reasons why ants can't be eradicated. He was rude and seemed drunk on the phone. I wouldn't be surprised if the spray they used was only water. He admitted to not leaving traps because he ran out. To date we have not received our money back, doubtful that we will. He is a scammer - save yourself the trouble and don't use them. In response to A1's reply: they came out twice not three times. He only mentioned that he ran out of traps when we asked for our money back. The young man that came out both times never mentioned anything about traps. In fact the guy was confused and asked both times if he was here for rats or gophers. The first time he took out his ladder and my husband asked him why he needed a ladder for ants in a kitchen. He was confusing us with another customer. When we requested our money back, Devin said that he was tired of us elitists in Pleasanton and that we were going after him, he even asked if we knew anyone in law enforcement. A very strange question. We told him that we chose his company because he was a local business and we wanted to support small businesses. The bid included items that did not pertain to my house, such as closing off opening by a roll-up garage door (I have no garage at my house). They recommended closing all tunnels in the concrete foundation, when there was no evidence those tunnels are used by rats. All I really needed was to screen off openings into house yet the bid was quite over-kill, ending up over $16k. I had someone else come out who had done rodent proofing at another house of mine, whose bid came in under $1,000. Guess whose bid I chose? One star for the willingness to come out and see what my issue was and give me an estimate. Simple problem, have a squirrel living in the eaves of my home. After the visit for the estimate I've heard nothing from the business. No estimate given, no follow up at all. Perhaps the job is too small and not worth their time? That's fine if you let customers know! Update: After I let A1 know that I had not heard from them or received the free estimate, they sent it to me. They even listed a discount on the estimate. That was nice and they did call to apologize. I spoke to both owners on the phone and told them I would look at the estimate when I returned from the holiday weekend. So to say that I did not respond to them is a bit misleading. It was 3 days from receipt of estimate to me contacting them to schedule the work. Seems reasonable to me. If you want to get rid of rats, use this company! If all you are doing is using traps, you will lose the battle with these highly intelligent creatures. The crew showed up and spent several hours inspecting and sealing all the openings that the rats could use to access our home. They then set up traps in the attics and crawl space, securing the baits so that the rats would not be able to defeat the trap (how many times have you had the disappointment of the rat taking off with the bait and laughing at you?) I waited a couple of months to write this review. Not one sign of rats since A1 did their work. They were right on top of their commitments and called weekly to schedule inspections of the traps. Suffice it to say we had a very bad crawl space and attic rodent infection. They were chewing through your cable wires, nesting and generally making a huge mess so called A1 for an estimate. Devin responded promptly, explained everything, and gave us an accurate estimate of the work required for the rodent anatomy. We required a rat slab as we had perimeter foundation so it was a big job start to finish. We required new insulation that was infested with the rodent carcass and droppings also. Form the start, Devin and team were on time, courteous, cleaned up after each day, and always followed up with next steps with zero follow up required. They also trapped for rodents over five weeks after rat slab and before insulation to ensure full abatement. This required multiple follow ups and reschedules due to our travel but Devin always accommodated with no issues and prompt follow up. We had rat and mouse problems so we called around for rodent proofing we went with A1 Rodent Proofing. Devin with A1 gave us the best estimate and gave us a thorough explanation on everything that would be done along with different options. We got pictures and different estimates for the different options we had. We went all out got new insulation and everything proofed. When they worked inside the house they made sure to be super clean on anything they did. They covered everything with plastics and covered the floor with paper to make sure nothing would get dirty. They also made sure our rat problems were gone coming every week checking the attic and crawl space. They stand by their warranty he came back 5 months later to check the attic because we had been hearing noises again. He did a thorough check and everything is good.
