Had Atticare out yesterday to service my ADU attic. This was not a very big job as far as square footage and I was not sure if I could find a company willing to do such a relatively small job. Chris came out early on a Saturday morning to meet me and inspect my attic. He provided a free estimate, according to my availability, not his which I greatly appreciated. When the crew came out they were on time and very professional and courteous. I would also like to add that it was A very hot day yet, they took their time and did not try to rush or take any short cuts. They sealed off everything in the work area and did a very thorough clean up after the work was done. I feel I was given a very fair estimate and even with my job being so small, they still spent most of the day onsite. I moved to an area in Santa Rosa, in a wooded area with creeks. I had no idea this area was prone to rats. Atticare cleaned the attic, sealed up entry points and installed new insulation. Our Project Managers name is Samuel. Samuel provided some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. When I heard rats again......no problem....Samuel sent someone out. Samuel was caring and kind, especially when I'd call in a panic. So far, so good on deterring the rats. If they come back, I won't be worried at all and will call Attricare. Atticare also installed a vapor barrier under our home. We had immense rains and one of the downspouts was clogged and broken and the vapor barrier was flooded. Samuel advised us to wait until summer when everything dried up and he sent William out to inspect the vapor barrier and clean it up. William was great too! This was provided under the warranty but all the wonderful pest preventative advice that William provided was provided at no charge! This company stands behind their work and they must treat their employees well because they attract great people like Samuel and William. read more

Also, they were very friendly until the work was complete. did a super shady job, and rats got in -- had to hire another company for pest control after spending $5k. they were supposed to come and fix my heating ducts since it was under warranty but never did. Would love to know who wrote these reviews. I had them come out to clean and pest proof our crawlsoace as we have mice. The manager Max said they would vacuum, sanitize and seal up all holes with cement. The worker showed me a couple photos after and it was foam- mice eat foam, this is not what we agreed on. I had a company go down there today to look (the day after) and there are loads of droppings and openings. They did not clean, sanitize or seal everything up. They did pull out insulation as we had a leak but that's about it. The proof is is the photos. We paid $5k - do not use them! I'm pleased to report that 8 years later, the work Atticare performed to keep the rats out of our house is still holding strong. They were quite thorough and as a result, we've had no further problems. When my neighbors ask for a referral, I recommend Atticare - they really find all the entry points, seal them up, and then clean up the mess left by the rats. Do not use this company if your primary goal is rodent exclusion. I spent over $5,000 with Atticare because I wanted a rodent exclusion solution. Instead, I ended up with a confusing and frustrating experience that left me questioning whether the primary service I hired them for was ever properly performed. During the sales process, I was told that rodent tunneling had been identified under my home and that rodent-proofing measures would be performed. The proposal repeatedly referenced "whole house rodent proofing." Based on those representations, I agreed to move forward with the project. What followed was one of the most disorganized contractor experiences I have ever had. The crews that arrived appeared to be independent contractors rather than company employees. No one arrived in Atticare-marked vehicles, there was no obvious supervisor or project manager overseeing the work, and communication between the salesperson, the original crew, and the follow-up technician was inconsistent and contradictory. The first crew focused almost entirely on insulation removal and replacement. When I asked questions about the rodent exclusion work, I could not get a clear explanation of what had actually been done. I was shown photos of insulation and rodent evidence, but not photos documenting rodent exclusion repairs. The proposal and contract also referenced setting traps. No traps were set at my property. After raising concerns, Atticare sent a second technician. During that visit, he identified and sealed a hole near the exact location I had originally pointed out as a suspected rodent entry point. That immediately raised the question of why it had not been addressed during the original service. The second technician also gave explanations that conflicted with what I had been told by the salesperson, including whether tunneling was present and what exclusion work had already been completed. I also observed rodent debris and insulation remnants through a vent in my water heater closet after the original crew completed the project. I specifically pointed this out during the follow-up visit because it appeared that the area had not been properly cleaned. Despite raising the issue, the debris remained and was not cleaned up during the second visit either. Even after spending more than $5,000, I was never provided with clear before-and-after documentation showing the rodent exclusion work that supposedly justified such a significant investment. Despite requesting photos, I never received the documentation I asked for. My overall impression is that the company is far more focused on selling expensive insulation replacement projects than providing a professional, well-documented rodent exclusion service. Whether the insulation replacement was necessary or not, the rodent exclusion work--the very reason I contacted Atticare in the first place--was poorly documented, poorly communicated, and left me with little confidence that the problem was thoroughly addressed. I would not hire this company again and cannot recommend them. If your primary concern is rodent exclusion, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. read more

Dealing with the salesman and the installers was easy and they were friendly and efficient. Only problem is that they said I could use my attic fan after installation but when I did the insulation started blowing out of the fan. Secondly, their bookkeeping department is a nightmare. Deposit invoiced and paid, no problem. When the job was complete it took them 4 times before they got the final invoice correct because they couldn't find the deposit. Finally got that right. A month later they are billing me again for the deposit because "they couldn't find the payment". She basically told me it was my problem. These people are highly disorganized and rude. I hired Atticare to resolve a rat issue in my attic, and it was one of the most disappointing and expensive mistakes I've ever made with a home service company. They told us the main problem was our blown-in insulation and recommended removing it and replacing it with roll-in insulation. They also promised to thoroughly clean the attic and seal every possible entry point so rats could no longer get in. Based on their "expert" advice, we paid $5,000 for the service. The very next day, we still had rats in the attic. Their entire sales pitch focused on replacing insulation rather than actually fixing the source of the problem--which is locating and sealing the entry points. That clearly did not happen. We were left with the exact same rat issue we started with, despite spending thousands of dollars. To make matters worse, we had to hire another company to actually take care of the rat problem, costing us even more money. I had AttiCare come out for an estimate to clean the attic and provide insulation at a rental property. The estimator's in-person presentation was very good -- professional, clear, and well organized. The overall process was explained pretty well however I needed more info after he left. The one key issue for me was the R-rating and since R-value is a major factor in comparing insulation options, I wanted to understand exactly what was being installed. I tried to follow up with the estimator to get clarification and asked for a call back. While multiple emails were exchanged from what seemed to be the corporate end, there was no actual human interaction, and my request for the estimator to call back failed. Because of that lack of follow-through, I ultimately decided to go with another vendor who was more responsive. AttiCare made a good first impression, but communication after the initial visit failed. I wouldn't proceed without speaking to the estimator. They lost a job due to that. read more

Let me start by saying the actual workers who removed and replaced my insulation were professional, courteous, worked cleanly and were on time. My issues are more 'back of house'.... during the sales call the gentleman I worked with was professional and courteous, but I had some specific requirements for the job since I work from home. I thought we had established that those requirements would be conveyed to the workers, but they didn't seem to be aware, so I had to re-explain. Also, he said I'd get photos of the completed work. Additionally the day before the job, I was told the team would be onsite between certain hours but I'd get a 30 min notice. While the teams arrived promptly at 8 am on both days, I never got any notification calls and I have now texted/emailed the company twice to get the photos of the completed work, and so far have not received anything. Also after I had signed the contract, I got a daily automated message that the contract needed to be signed. I finally had to text the sales guy to get it to stop, as the contract was signed. Therefore, the workers were great, but the infrastructure needs to be reviewed and adjusted. read more

Air Sealing is included in the contract, but guess what? yup, I accidentally find it's not done today, 1.5 weeks after the project is done One of the big "suprise mf moments" I don't know how they can fix this nicely since this sould be done before the insulation layer (that pink fiberglass you see in the 3rd picture) is layed. I fan find a way to fix this myself, but what I am concerning is : what else is not done correctly or not done at all, that I haven't find out yet??? read more

Samuel M. came to my home to inspect my attic and crawlspace to provide me with an estimate. He was on time, friendly and very thorough in his overview on what work would be done. I did request 3 quotes and ended up hiring Atticare to remove/replace the old insulation in my attic and crawlspace (~1100 sq ft). My house was built in 1948 and the insulation was completely disintegrated and gross. So this work was long overdue. After promptly scheduling the project, the team finished the removal within 6 hours. Our 50+ year-old house still had its original insulation when we moved in nearly 20 years ago. I use the word "insulation" very loosely here, because in reality it wasn't doing very much. The old stuff was that loose, crappy blown-in junk that was inconsistent in its thickness and coverage. In the winters, the house struggled to retain heat and the furnace always seemed to run continually through the night. Things were worse in the summer, when the attic got superheated and the heat would percolate into the living area well into the night, so even though it was cool outside and the windows were open, the would still warm up. A couple friends recently had their attic insulation replaced by Atticare, and they were both happy with the results. We contacted them and they responded quickly, and within a day or two Dylan came to give an estimate. He offered a number of other services that they could provide, but in the end we just wanted an attic cleanout and new rolled insulation. The price quoted was competitive with another estimate that we received, and Dylan agreed to install more eco-friendly insulation at no added cost. Getting the work done was delayed for a few months because we still had to get our roof replaced, which would drop a lot of extra debris. Once that was done, however, it was easy to set up a time for Atticare's work. Once they arrived, they sealed off the other living areas to ensure that no dust or dirt would be dispersed. They donned their hazmat-like suits and went to work with their industrial vacuum, taking out multiple bags of old insulation and other accumulated junk. They disinfected the empty attic, sealed off all the potential entry points for rodents (even for the crawlspace), and laid out thick rolls of insulation. It all took less than a day and they left the house clean. The effect of the new insulation was almost immediately noticed. Even on some of the colder nights, the furnace didn't turn on nearly as often as in the past. On some of the more recent warmer days (into the upper 80s), we haven't had to run the air conditioning at all. Yes, we know that we may never fully recover the cost of the insulation in the form of lower energy costs, but it's nice to know that we're burning less natural gas and using less electricity. read more

Sal Luna was the project manager for replacement of insulation in my crawl space. Sal's crew did an excellent job. The crew was very polite and professional. They were meticulous in the way they prepared the work area, covering all fruniture and flooring with plastic sheeting to prevent damage. They explained the process very well and completed the work in excellent time. Old insulation was removed and replaced with new insulation. They also insalled a vapor barrier and sealed all openings to the outside to prevent pests from entering the area.
