I was in need of some carpet cleaning and had noticed a few deals lately online. Before my purchase I checked out the websites of the companies and this is what I found for A1 "A1Steamers Carpet Cleaning San Antonio is a family business. We do not use any tricky tactics like Bait and Switch,See for yourself by Purchasing one of our UP Front Complete Home Packages ,everything is included for the cleaning (Enzyme Pre Spray,Disinfectant ,Deodorizer) Optional items would be Pet treatment,Stairs and Carpet Protection.Mention this add and I will even throw in the Stairs at 50% off." I bought a deal on "Living Social" from this company. That transaction went pretty smooth and I called the company to ask about the process from there. The man that answered was very nice and explained that I had to go online to book an appointment on their website. He said that even though it was "Living Social" that I needed to mark the "Groupon" box when setting the appointment so they knew it was that type of appointment... ok... fine. I booked my appointment as directed and set the appointment for a time I could leave work early. I got a call that day to verify the appointment and then he called back later that day to see if he could come early... fair enough. First off.... they sent a contractor... not one of their own units. Second, the contractor got confused about the difference between "groupon" and "living social" and was telling us that he might not be able to do the job. After a call to the office and about 20 minutes of hassle, it was determined that "living social" and "groupon" were no different in the service he was suppose to be providing so the carpet cleaning was a go at this point. Third, the "enzyme" they speak of online is NOT part of the price. It's $15 per room. Fourth, the company doing the work did not have/use "newer professional truck mount steam cleaners" as stated on their website. The company that came out, used a portable unit that smelled like something between a wet dog and outhouse once it was turned on. All this being said, the man that came out was very nice, seemed to own his own business and does contract work with A1 and actually did a through job. The one spot I had is long gone and the rest of the carpets looked great. The smell from the machine left when it did so that wasn't as bad as I first thought it would be. In the end, the carpets came out looking good but NOTHING this company represents on their website is correct. Because they were not even the company coming out, I can't even give them credit for the carpet. I think some of this should be clear in the deals they are making. I found this review on ripoff report. Be wary please. I'd also like to say that it is not a Better Business Bureau accredited business. Greetings, I am a professional carpet cleaner and have been for 12 years. I just started working for a company that runs a big scam on groupon, and other sites. I have worked for Alpha Omega Carpet Cleaning for a few weeks and am deeply disturbed about their business practices. There is another company involved that goes by three different names. Upfront Carpet Cleaning, A1 Steamers and Steam It. Here is how it goes. First, the three companies that are owned by one person, Joseph Pais, advertise on groupon that they will clean the carpets in 4 areas and a hall for 40$. The truth is that we are instructed to "upsell" every customer. A 40$ clean isn't actually a carpet clean. All we do is run warm/hot water on their carpet without any soap. The process takes about 10-15 minutes and doesn't not clean the carpet. It actually soaks the carpet and can make it look worse then before due to resurfacing of deep stains. When we enter someone's home we quickly walk the carpet with them and tell them right off the bat that they need an emulsifier treatment (pre-spray) and that runs 15-20 per room. Then we offer scotch guard and other services like a pet treatment if needed and it runs 15-30 per room. The technicians are not knowledgable in the proper use of chemicals so they don't eliminate pet odor. Anyway, we have to up-sell the customer for every single thing including air vent cleaning and tile cleaning. If a customer refuses to pay our estimate which can cost hundreds more then we haul ass on the "cleaning" and basically just soak their carpet. Another problem is that Joseph gets so much work from groupon that he subcontracts the company I work for, alpha omega. The customers are not aware that a different company then UpFront is in their home. Another problem is that people have to book their appointments a month in advance through email. Many customers have complained to me that the only phone number they have to the company isn't reliable. They person who answers, Joseph I assume, says he can't talk and that they have to email him. A basic run down on all of this is that people spend 40$ to have carpets cleaned and they only get a rinse and a pushy salesman. I would also like to add that I am an experienced carpet cleaner. These guys do not know what they are doing. They BS the customers and scam them. They often sell a scotchguard treatment and they only spray deodorizer. I am not a disgruntle employee looking for payback. Im currently looking for another job and might have found one. I'm exposing this scam because they make carpet cleaners look bad and they are scammers. I am a Christian and my boss, Rick Keating, named his company Alpha Omega but does not engage in ethical business practices. Another problem is the drug use. I have witnessed 3 different employees using marijuana while driving between job sites and i know the owner, Rick, smokes pot also. One technician was drinking a beer while driving. This is not acceptable. I would also like to add to this that I believe their reviews on groupon are fake. 77 reviews give them 4-5 stars but they are all written the same. Some of the reviews actually look like advertisments for the company. There is not one negative review on groupon. I've found similar fake reviews throughout the internet but I've also found real reviews that back up what I am telling you. I've sent a similar email to groupon and I plan on contacting the better business bureau. This scam needs to end. I am willing to sign a sworn affidavit that I am speaking the truth. read more

Yes, I used an online deal for this company. I really wish I had looked at these reviews before I even relied on them to get the job done. First of all, you have to book online. Unfortunately, although I received 2 confirmation emails for a time and date, they did not. They did not show that day. We called them for several hours and no one picked up until the end of the work day. The told us that they did not have us on their schedule. I needed the job done that day, it was for a rental property that I was vacating. The owner promised me that he would have a tech out the next day by 8:30am. So we pay for an extra day on our rental property just because the cost of not doing it would be significantly more. How this company did not end up on the "do not use" list of the rental company is beyond me. 8:30 rolls around. I get a call from the tech saying that he was about 30 minutes away. I told him that he was expected already, but he reported he was never told this. One hour later, he calls and says he will be there in an hour. Something about dropping off his kid at school (at 9:30am or later? Suspicious...). I think it was about 11am or so did he finally show up, did his job. The only good thing was that they agreed to do the stairs for free because of all this trouble. But they refused to take the blame for it. They kept blaming their own computer system (then who's responsible?). Rarely does anyone answer their phone, and no one returns calls. They frequently promised to "call right back" and NEVER did. The tech repeatedly called me while I was working just to tell me the made up time. My husband witnessed the carpet cleaning, he said he felt they did a good/efficient job at that. I got a good deal for a partial home carpet clean through Group On. I figured I had nothing to lose since it was such a low price. The day of my appointment I made the mistake of upgrading to whole house cleaning. I paid an additional $119 to get the whole house cleaned plus add a carpet protectant spray which was suppose to keep my carpet cleaner longer. I noticed a difference in the quality of the work right away. My carpets did not have the lines that even a vacuum cleaner leaves, so I questioned the suction power of the machine. 2nd, the workers were not wearing shoe socks therefore stepping on the "clean" carpet with their dirty shoes. Lastly, I asked for a walk through and discovered uncleaned spots throughout. The worker took care of those by spraying a solution and cleaning it up by hand. I was told that if I was not satisfied they would come back on a later date redo. Within two days stains and dirty spots starting coming back. I called them and initially they were very receptive to coming out to "spot" clean. They called me back once but unfortunately with a day's notice I could not change my schedule. However, I only work part-time so for the most part I am home and could accommodate their schedule. I never heard back from them again. Now, 5 weeks later, my carpet looks as if it had never been cleaned in the first place. My assumption is that because their coupon deal is so low, they either don't do their best work or dilute their cleaning solution. I guess you do get what you pay for but these companies fail to recognize what these deals are intended for. Companies don't make any real money out of these deals but what you hope for are referrals and repeat customers. Unfortunately, this company will get neither from me. read more

My in-laws were due to come in town and I wanted my house to be perfect. Having never used a carpet cleaning company, I had no idea what to ask or what to expect. I called a few places... When I called A1 steamers, the person on the phone was very polite and informative so I decided to pick them. When they showed up the technician was very informative about the products and what would work best. I picked the package with the spot treatment(I had a few stains I didn't want the in-laws to notice) Pre-spray and deodorizer. They did an amazing job. In less than two hours my house looked and smelled brand new. Needless to say my in-laws were impressed. And so was I! I would definitely use them again. Thanks A1 steamers! :-) read more

I would highly recommend A1 Steamers! Awesome company, great people and great product. It is not that often that I find a company that I am impressed with. However, I have used this company several times and they have consistently done an amazing job cleaning our carpets. They spend the extra time to make sure the job is done right the first time. Also, they use natural enzymes to clean the carpets which is very important for us as I don't want a lot of chemicals in our home. Even if they are pet stains or regular stains, they will work hard to do it right the first time using their enzymes. The guys who do the work are very nice, clean cut and very respectable. I have tried other carpet companies who I wasn't pleased with. So I am happy to find a great company that I trust with my carpets. read more

I think this company is a rip off. I bought a deal off living social because the lease on my rental home was up and I had to clean the carpet. The day before my appointment I received an email saying that their vehicle broke down and they had to cancel because they only had one vehicle. I didn't understand why they waited until 5pm the evening before my appointment to contact me which left me scrambling to find another cleaner. I spent over 3 weeks trying to call them for my refund and the phone keeps going to voicemail. this company is a rip off. don't use them. Very disappointed in this company. I called to schedule my appointment and they called to confirm the time. I asked if I could change to a later time that day and they said no problem and would call me around 1pm. I recieved no phone call for 2 days after that. I called again at 8am on the 3rd day and they said someone would contact me (again) at 1pm or later. Still no phone call. I texted the # (the voice recording said I could text) and received no response. Was hoping to get my carpets cleaned before my Christmas party but I guess that won't happen. read more

I just wanted to share my experience. We were getting ready to move out of a rental house so I decided to order the deal through living social to get the carpets cleaned. I scheduled my appointment for noon on the day I was moving out. I was told by email that there was a 2 hour window in which they would show. Around 1:45, A1 steamers were not at my house so I called..no answer, left a VM. Around 2:10, I called again..no answer. My husband called a different number and finally got ahold of someone. She then explained that their only van had broke down and they were trying to get it fixed. "Well gee thanks, for notifying us to let us know....we have only been sitting around waiting for you instead of taking our boxes to our storage unit"...was our response. They were supposed to call me back to see if she could get one of their "friend"companies to come out but I never heard back from them. I have called several times a day for the past 2 days. I contacted living social and will be getting a refund. I learned my lesson. If you are looking for a reliable carpet cleaner, this is NOT the company to use. read more

Worst service ever. I purchased a discounted rate from Living Social for their company. Made an appointment online, scheduled and everything for yesterday. My husband spent 2 hours moving our furniture around so we could get our entire living room steam cleaned at once. (2 couches, a chair, multiple tables, a desk etc) I got a confirmation email the night before our appointment letting us know at this point we could not cancel, when our appointment would be and what technician would we out doing the cleaning. Our appointment was for 12pm, and was advised the technician would call to confirm when they were on their way and gave you a 2 hour window. Which was perfect because my husband had to get to work. They never showed up. My husband called their office atleast 15 times, to no avail no one ever answered and the answering machine that comes on is to a voicemail that you would hear on a personal cell phone not on a company answering machine! No one at this time has called us back, and now on top of that because of living social i cant even get my money back i get a "credit" with their company for future payments. Believe me i have learned my lesson! do your research! THIS IS A HORRIBLE COMPANY AND A HORRIBLE WAY TO DO BUSINESS!!!!!!!!! read more

I too bought a living social deal. My home is 2,400 square feet and a purchased the option for up to 2,500 square feet to ensue I had adequate coverage. I read the fine print and noticed stairs were not included - no problem. First, I had to call more than once to reach anyone and my initial voicemail was not returned. On my final attempt before canceling this "deal" I got someone to answer and the appointment was set for a Friday evening. On that day the technician called and wanted to come earlier but that didn't work for my schedule. He was put off and began querying the amount of work, if it was a coupon deal, etc. He didn't show up on time (45 minutes later than planned time) and his first question was to see the coupon. I gave it to him and he said we only do 5 rooms for this amount and wouldn't use a cleaning solution (only hot water). Further, he told me he wouldn't move any furniture he'd just work around things. Of course I could pay more and he'd clean more room, closets, stairs, etc. He wore his old, dirty work boots and didn't put a cover on them even after I told him we don't wear shoes in our home. I moved basic furniture so that he would do a better more thorough job. He was sloppy and lazy in his work. The "steam cleaning" left my carpets very wet. More wet than my non-professional home cleaner does and that's not right. I re-read the fine print and there is nothing that addresses the maximum number of rooms that will be cleaned. He shorted me, was late, sloppy and lazy. I will not ask them to reaccomplish the work or do the work they should have done because it wasn't worth what I paid. So, buyer beware. You get or sometimes don't get what you pay for. Don't use A1 Steamers. read more
