I have been seeing Caroline for years now. She listens to my needs and gives me suggestions for my hair. I always get highlights and every time I show her a photo, the result is exactly the same. She remembers my previous cuts and services that I have done with her. I took my mom there too and she is in love with her cut and highlights. I recommend this salon and especially Caroline. The front staff and the lady that shampooed my hair was very friendly. I just get that feeling that they all love what they do when I walk in there which makes a huge difference comparing to other places. The cut itself was fine - it just was not remotely close to what I asked for. I asked for a bob, something I've had in the past, showed a photo, and got layers. At some point I asked if she was going to put the angular shape in and she said I gave you all these layers. I'm not into risking my hair with a bitter stylist so I didn't bother to push back further or complain, tipped and left but won't be going back. I came here post quarentine to get a lot of things done... first off, the salon was affordable, professional, and clean. I was not nervous about new covid protocals, everything went smoothly. Vimean did an AMAZING job. I got brazilian, brows, and lip and 100% felt like I was in good hands. She is quick and makes you feel at ease. I will definitely be coming back. A friend recommended Nolaska to me in 2006 and I'm still going to her after all these years! She does such a great job with my cuts and colors that I just go in and let her do whatever she wants now. Well. I made an appointment to get my hair done today, 4/23. I was looking for a place to get a simple haircut and blow-dry. I found this place close to me. So I submitted a time, and it was approved. As I arrived at the salon, the lady approached me. She spoke to me, and I kindly let her know I was Deaf. She kept talking to me. I had to keep telling her I could not hear, and she finally started to write down. She asked me if I was here for a wax appointment. I said no and that I was here for a hair appointment. She told me in handwritten that they do not do my hair type. I am a Black woman; my hair type is a curl 3c/4a. I don't know if they haven't upgraded their BIO on yelp, but when saying all hair types, they don't mean all hair type. Just the "right" hair type. This bio is misinformed and misleading. It's NOT for "all" hair types. I hope you upgrade your page here, so that someone like me won't have to experience showing up and facing disappointment. I have been coming here for 2 months. And thanks to Tamia, my hair has gone from lifeless and fine to having body and movement. Tamia is the only stylist who has ever taken the time to give my hair a chance without encouraging me to get extensions. I also love that she listens to what I want and never trims my ends too much; so I can retain some of my length. Everyone in the salon is helpful and friendly. I just got move in this area and I was trying to find some place urgent to get my haircut done. I found A2Z studio and give it a shot. When I came in everything was so clean, everybody were nice and polite. Mary, who was doing my hair, was so professional and cute, she did amazing job! By far this is the best place for waxing! I have gone to many different salons for waxing in DC, MD, and VA over the past decade, but since I found Vimean in 2019 at A2Z Studio I will never go anywhere else. She is extremely professional, friendly, and skilled at making the experience the most comfortable. Her studio is immaculate. She is the only esthetician using the space, so she is able to keep it perfectly clean and organized exactly the way she needs it. She makes you feel very comfortable and chats throughout the treatment which is nicely distracting, especially during a brazilian! She's very efficient and thorough. Somehow she is able to be quick without missing a hair. Over the past 2 years since I started going to Vimean, I've had eyebrows, lip, chin, full face, arms, hands, legs, and brazilian done. Her method is the least painful I have ever experienced. I've also started getting my hair done at A2Z since meeting Vimean. I have long hair and don't go often, but every time I go I am very pleased! I cannot recommend this salon high enough. read more

Tamia at a2z is so good. She takes such good care of my hair and she styles like my stylist in Atlanta. My hair is kind of long, no relaxer and she's just what I've been looking for. She makes it look long and flowing without adding a bunch of oil and grease. The products are good and not drying, prices are reasonable, she's prompt and fast. she gets the edges straight and my style lasts! I get out in less than 1.5 hours which is unheard of. And my hair looks great and feels healthy. Best I've found in Alexandria or D.C. so far and I've been looking for a while. I also brought 2 other friends for full manis and pedis.My friend told me $20 for white tips, and when I asked them they said it was $23 for acrylic. Not knowing if white tips and acrylics were the same thing, and seeing the price difference, I showed them a picture and said "I want it exactly like this picture." The lady kept telling me it's acrylic and continuing to hear the price difference I was concerned she was charging me for a different service I said, "Okay let me call my friend and ask just to make sure. I don't mind the price difference, it's only $3. I just want to make sure the nails come out exactly the way my friend has it. It's my first time getting my nails done."The lady was in the middle of doing my nails, she literally had already wiped off my old nail polish and cut ONE pinky nail. She says to her coworker "If she can't decide right now, I'm going to go do another customer." Her coworker is asking me how I want my nails and the lady doing my manis gets up and walks away. Thinking she went to the back I continue to tell her coworker (who is doing someone else's nails) how I want them done. I sit there for a full 10 minutes waiting for my lady to come back... I look around and realize she was working on a new customer who walked in AFTER ME! My friends are in the middle their pedis, I'm sitting here with half wiped nail polish and one finger missing. Carolina has been cutting my hair since 2004. She is a true master. My hair looks great after every cut and I get so many compliments when I go back to work after a visit to her studio. She understands how to work with each person's hair and make it look its best. I found Carolina when I lived in Arlington but I still go back to her even though I live in Silver Spring now. The rest of the A2Z staff is very friendly and the studio location is convenient to the Clarendon Metro. I wish I could give this place negative stars . I purchased a groupon for a Brazilian sugaring. I called to book my appointment I spoke with Sally the waxing technician. First I was unimpressed by the fact that she barely had any appointment times after 5. If you have clients that work nine to five I feel you should offer more appointments after five but I was not that upset about it. I was required to give my groupon voucher number to book my appointment which I thought was strange seeing as I have NEVER had to give a voucher number until I have already received services.So I scheduled my appointment. A family emergency had come up that day and I totally forgot about it. Once I remembered I went to my groupon to retrieve the phone number to reschedule. I looked and noticed that my groupon was marked as used which was shocking to me because I did not make my appointment so I called to reschedule. When I spoke to Sally the waxing technician and ask if I could reschedule and asked why my groupon was marked as used she told me because I did not cancel 24hrs prior that I couldn't longer use the voucher . This was infuriating because these terms were not stated anywhere on Groupon In the terms . To me it seems like Sally was trying to scam me I had already prepaid for services and so she did not find it necessary to provide good customer service she just wanted my money and came up with some BS terms after the fact . Not sure if she is a good waxing technician but seeing as she is offering discounted waxing services on Groupon I highly doubt clients are knocking her door down. But I can speak on the customer service and say it was horrendous. Luckily groupon fully refunded my money and needless to say A2Z Hair Studio will NEVER see a penny from my purse. read more

Omg!!!! I came here for a Brazilian wax from a groupon that I got. When I pulled up I was impressed it was a nice hair studio but the wax threw everything off! The lady, I believe her name was inesha, had no idea what she was doing. She was a complete nightmare. I came for a sugar wax and she had no idea how to do it and said that she never has done one and the regular wax was better. So I decided to just get the regular waxing. She was moving from section to section with so much hair still left saying she would get it later, with tweezers . It hurt like hell she kept going over the same spot multiple times.she was dropping the wax on me placing the sticks on my legs. Smh I had no privacy to take my pants off nor to clean up after. The service is very good, however, I was very surprised on my last visit when I was charged a price significantly higher than what I used to pay for manicure and pedicure. When asked for a list of prices, the girl showed me the price she charged me, not the published list to the public. I went to my brazilian sugaring appointment as a result of a Groupon purchase. The room was quite dirty with hair everywhere and a dirty towel on the bed. I was not offered anything to cover up, which was a little awkward. I was naked from the waist down and exposed to anyone who walked by as the woman entered and exited the room. The waxing jar looked very messy and a made me question whether or not I should go through this experience. I made the woman stop during the visit because it did not feel ok. It turns out she caused me to bleed in various intimate places. I have to visit a doctor now because my vaginal area is irritated, bleeding, and chafed. This experience was HORRENDOUS! I would not recommend anyone visit this salon. A dirty room and an unsanitary looking environment is not one you want to expose your lady bits to. I have zero desires to go back and incur medical expenses for grooming purposes. read more
