I brought my cat in for a routine teeth cleaning and spay. This is a healthy cat and Dr Mark Sheffield charge me in advance for the procedures. My cat ending up dying in his hands. He kept blowing me off when I wanted an explation . All he wanted to know was if is was going to bury " it" or cremated "it" I felt he was trying to get more money off me once again . He informed me I ruined his New YeAr cause my cat died . When I asked me if he was going to reimburse me some of my money he told me " I did not charge you for the CPR I performed on "IT" . Dr. Mark was absolutely amazing when my chiweenie, Taylor, suffered a medical emergency. He and his entire staff put my mind at ease and diagnosed Taylor with epilepsy. She's on the mend, and her older brother, Jenks, is more relieved than I, I think lol. My family has been going to this doctor for years, spent thousands and thousands of dollars in vet bills, and now again one of the dogs is on their last leg and needs to be euthanized. My mother's dogs are her pride and joy naturally she's very upset. She had called and reception told her that she hast to come over immediately. Otherwise there's nothing they can do. The reasoning for denying a loyal customer for years is because they had a schedule, their breaks and lunches, and it would interfere. Inexcusable !! Never again will I step foot in there!! I drive from out of town to bring my dog here. Every time I have brought her here my expectations have been exceeded. My dog got her teeth cleaned, and they do blood work to ensure the anesthesia will not harm your dog. He could have charged me extra for the two extractions she needed but he didn't. When I came to pick up my dog the doctor was very nice, answered all my questions, was detailed, and not in a rush to get us out of there. I really like that, he is a great doctor, very knowledgeable and experienced. I definitely trust them with my dog! read more

The Vet is a good vet, the receptionist is very pleasant, but the staff that handles the pets and gives shots are not experienced on how to handle dogs and even kittens. The last visit for a simple rabies vaccine traumatized my dog. The first assistant that walked in ran out when she saw the my 46 lb Aussie. Right then he knew they were afraid and he was very nervous. The process was a disaster and I worried for a week that they might have given the shot in the wrong place etc. because they made the dog hysterical . I transferred to another vet to have him checked out two weeks later, this staff and Vet were very calm unafraid and experienced. They took blood and completely checked him out and he was perfectly calm and friendly with all of them from the time we entered. Dogs are extremely sensitive and should only be handled by people who like and have no fear of them. At AA they blamed me for not "socializing " my dog so I was glad to see that it was not my dog that had the problem but the staff. So hopefully Dr. Sheffield might see this review and make some improvements in hiring or training. I hated to have to discontinue going there. read more

I am very very pleased with this Veterinary office. Long story short, I just moved into town and my 12 yr old doggie desperately needed teeth cleaning and possible extractions. Our previous Veterinary wanted to charge us $1,800 for a teeth cleaning without any extractions. We just can't afford that. I started calling different offices in the area and took her here. They were honest, quick, affordable and much much more compassionate to my dog. Within 1 week of our first visit she got her teeth cleaned. Only one was pulled out because it was already loose. The other office had pulled 14 teeth out of her sister 2 yrs ago. Now I'm believing those did not need to be extracted. It's hard to find honest hard working people nowadays but this office and this doctor really blew me out of the water. 100% recommended and 100% would take both of my dogs there now God bless them! read more

I have been to the clinic 4 times with my dog. Each experience not great, but I'm new to the area and I didn't want to switch vets, hoping my young dog would require only wellness visits for a while. I needed my dog's anal glands expressed which is $40. I paid the high fee bc my dog was uncomfortable and I thought the vet might do a better job than the groomers which charges only $12. The office staff warned me that since I wasn't paying for an exam, I wouldn't be able to ask any questions. First, Dr Sheffield did not greet me or my dog. He just said - "Put your dog on the table". When he was done, I asked how much fluid came out and Dr Sheffield hesitated before telling me - thinking about whether that was a question he could answer for the $40. REALLY? I also asked if I should consider further treatment bc this is an ongoing problem. The doctor refused to answer, telling me "You didn't pay an exam fee. I cant answer that". Great doc, I will go home and google the answer. I will also google another vet in the area and check the google reviews! This will be my last time visit visiting this practice. In addition, the rooms and equipment look ancient. Just a weird place run by a weird guy. read more

I finally feel vindicated by reading all the other reviews on here. I have always trusted my instinct, and it has never failed me, especially in this case. This "doctor" is a nightmare. I tried to like him, but everytime I went, I would get mad at myself for not finding another vet before my cat needed her insulin again. She is 16 and diabetic. She had an abscess on the side of her face, and he looked at it for less than 3 seconds, and told me it was her lymph node and she has cancer! He asked me what I wanted to do?? I asked what did he mean, he asked whether I wanted to euthanize her or did I want him to try and treat her?!!! He said he could put her on antibiotics and see if gets better, which is what I chose. Two days later, the abscess that he said was cancer, broke through the surface and started to drain! I was almost positive it was an abscess when I took her in there, and he tells me its cancer, in just 3 seconds of looking at her. I was furious. I could have euthanized her for no reason! One visit, was to check her blood sugar, which I had to pay for an office visit, and I asked if they could trim her nails and he said, thats an extra 17 dollar charge, and I said, oh, nevermind then, and he said yeah, just do it at home??? I mean really? What is his deal? I seriously get Autism vibes from him, like he doesn't know what he is saying or how he is acting is offensive. I say this because I have a 28 yr old son with Autism, so I am very aware of certain behaviors. if thats the case, that would explain allot about him. read more

Took our cat in for a check up and shots. Was kind of high priced and wanted us to out her on a flea program that was very expensive but we decided against 8t since she was a indoor cat. This seemed to upset the vet and he left the exam room in a huff. I didn't care and went on with our day. As we were leaving they had some rescue kittens in a cage near the door. We asked that if they should ever come a cross a calico kitten to call us that we may be interned in a rescue kitten for adoption. Received a call 2 weeks later that they had 2 kittens that are calico and we should take a ride over. We did. The one kitten was definetly a calico and matched in color to our other calico cat. The other kitten was a gray kitten but did not look like a calico. We asked and the receptionist (manager) told us they were sisters. We were not expecting to take on 2 kittens but did not want to separate the kittens. We asked about their rescue program which included a free spay for both cats as long as we do their shot program which was 6 rounds of shots and booster shots. We asked about if they could save us money for their declaw since our other cars are declawed. The manager offered us a good price for their declaw. So we thought. First, their shot program is way over board of what you actually need. They charged us $60 each time we have to go in for the shots to get the free spaying. The original adoption fee was $80 each! This included two rounds of their first shots so we had to pay for the next 4 rounds at $60 for both. That's $240. We made the appointment for the spay and declaw. The spay was free and the declaw was supposed to be $100 each. They gave us an estimate of almost $600 for the spay and declaw! I asked what happened to the $100 estimate and the manager replied that the fee did not include the 3 day pain meds, special cat litter, cones for their heads, and follow up. What kind of a vet would give an estimate for a declaw without pain meds? Plus we had to pay for the future shot rounds since we wanted to spay and declaw before the end of the shot rounds. All in all we spent over $800 for two rescue kittens! I called Pet Alliance and asked about their rescue programs and they charge $60 to adopt with all the shots and free spay. I also asked about AA Animal shot and booster program and they told me that have of the shots are not needed. According to Pet Alliance, I needed a rabies and booster shot and that's it! AA Animal is all about making money. They decieve their clients by not telling them the whole picture. Also, the other kitten turned out to not be a calico or the actual sister of the calico kitten we wanted. AA Animal Hospital lied to us just in order for us to take the two kittens. I will never walk into to this place again. They lie about the fees, they find fees to charge you when not needed, they suck you in with low cost shots and charge you a lot when something is wrong. We should have just went to Seminole County and adopted a kitten and stayed with Pet Alliance! We would have saved over $600! read more

Took my healthy 2 1/2 yr old cat in for routine teeth cleaning and spaying. she died under the care of Dr Mark Sheffield. When I asked if he will reimburse me some my money as I paid for services beforehand he told me " I didn't charge you for the CPR!" There are no excuses for blowing me off and avoiding my questions I need answers as to why my cat died. Worst experience ever and would never recommend this clinic to anyone. My regular vet had 3 emergencies and was unable to see my pet, Dr Cohen recommend this place and it was nothing less than horrible. My poor dog was bleeding from both ends and he wouldn't even touch her until my daughter arrived with the credit card. He looked at his staff and stated let me know when it's paid for, I'll be in my office. .. He let my poor girl bleed all over and not do anything until he had payment confirmation. Then after we spent over 700.00 for x rays and other bogus charges such as iv fluids which she never got we were told basically there was nothing he could do. She had less than a 30% chance with surgery and his exact words were " and honestly I wont even touch her without a minimum of 2000.00 down and your looking at an upwards of 10,000.00 dollars and unless you are financially secure i wouildnt suggest it, we stood grieving over our beloved pet he kept coming in saying you need to make a decision. I stated to put her down which he then asked how do you want to dispose of it!!! It, I said you mean our pet my dog he said yes so I responded what are my options. He replied do you want the body or do you want us to dispose of it!! I said I guess you would have to take her so he turned to his staff and said let me know when it's paid for and I'll be back and walked off. I then was charged an additional 218. To put her down. His staff even spoke poorly of Dr. Cohen so I called and told Dr. Cohens office staff and they have removed him from the list of providers. Absolutely the worst provider I have ever been in contact with. He has no care for animals and obviously is only in it to rob people legally. . I would give him -stars if they had the option. . I have gone to AA Animal Hospital for 14 years. The Doctor is efficient but doesn't fully relate to his two legged caregivers of his patients. I .trust his expertise in giving me the prognosis straight up with no frills. I am not worried about bedside manner but the right medications and care be forthcoming. I also worry about the costs which can be high at any Animal hospital and I discuss these prior to what I want to accomplish with each visit. No, he doesn't sugar coat his findings and for some it may be a little harsh but I don't come to see him to flatter my ego. I am paying for knowledge, insight, and the best course for my animals. read more

Had I read reviews on this facility I would not have taken my pet. Dr Sheffield bed side manner to the care giver leaves a lot to be desired. Our pet (Sam) was vomiting and had diarrhea for 2 days so we took him to AA Animal Hospital because it was near by and we had used the facility before for (shots, vitamins and food). The Dr. prescribed medication to treat the symptoms gave him a few shots to correct the symptoms and gave us a treatment plan for treating ( Gastro Enteritis Pancreatitis). It was difficulty to administer the medication so we took him back to be treated on an inpatient basis. we were advised not to visit because the pet would think he was going home. We received a call on Sat after a 3 day stay to come and pick Sam up, when we arrived Dr, Sheffield said "I have bad news for you he still has diarrhea, we had to force feed him and administer the medication by IV. He offered no additional medication or suggest that Sam remain at the hospital. We were given a diet plan to follow, needless to say Sam did not improve so we took him to Spring Oaks Animal Hospital for additional treatment. The staff and Dr's did the best they could to treat Sam but the condition had gone on to long and we had to put him to sleep he was only 6 years old. Stay away from AA Animal hospital. The only thing good I can say is the young ladies in training were excellent not Dr.Sheffield. Earl F read more
