I had a bad day earlier this week. I had just completed a CostCo run to stock up on groceries,…read moreonly to come home to find my GE refrigerator dead. Alex was a lucky find. He came out quickly and diagnosed a key problem with the refrigerator; a blown main control board. Because my refrigerator is quite old, Alex didn't have the part on hand. Instead, he placed an expedited special order for it on the spot. He clearly explained that there also could be secondary problems, masked by the blown control board. We agreed though that it made sense and would save me money by replacing the control board first and then evaluating next steps. Luckily that was all that was needed to get my refrigerator back and up and running. Hurray! With the back of the refrigerator open, Alex took care to clean the condenser coils and other interior spaces to help keep it operating efficiently. My refrigerator now runs more quietly than I ever remember! While here, Alex also checked my Whirlpool clothes washing machine and cleaned out the accumulated gunk in the drain line that prevented it from draining properly and operating efficiently. Both my refrigerator and washer are old machines and now working like new. For both, Alex offered helpful, expert maintenance tips and advice, should I ever need to replace them. Overall, I found Alex to be punctual, fair in his pricing, clear in explaining the process and possible costs, polite, neat and personable. I highly recommend him.

Nd said he needs to check for parts and the job will cost 450$ . I told him to givd me a call after he checks for parts, but he didn't. Upon further following up, he blamed me that i didn't confirm. He then said parts sill take 2-4 days. Total waste of 4-5 days. Meanwhile i contacted another technician who fixed the dishwasher in 200$, within 2 hrs. Simple clog was the issue. Tai answered all our questions, wasn't pushy at all, and didn't push wolf just because it'd be the most expensive option. Highly recommend this team for anyone out there shopping for new appliances.

TLDR- DO NOT BUY from Homewise Appliance. I had a truly horrific experience purchasing my laundry…read morecenter. They sold me a faulty appliance, and it took FOUR failed delivery attempts, two service technician appointments, over 1.5 MONTHS worth of time, and umpteen phone calls, emails, and texts, before the situation was rectified. When purchasing a major appliance, my expectations are that the vendor will regularly communicate with the customer to ensure satisfactory delivery and installation, and that the vendor does not see their job as complete until the customer has their new appliance in their home and that it is functional and useable. My expectations were not met by Homewise Appliance; after they charged my credit card and got their money, they missed opportunities to ensure a smooth delivery, I experienced radio silence in response to many of my calls and emails, and witnessed their failure to take accountability for preventable and repeated bungled delivery logistics. I did receive a small partial refund for my inconvenience, but honestly, there is no refund amount high enough that would feel like adequate compensation for my horrendous experience. Day 0- My washing machine is kaput. It had a good 15+ year run. Time for a new appliance! Day 4- I call Homewise Appliance in Redwood City and am put in touch with Tai La, Appliance Specialist. He helps me identify which laundry center is a direct replacement for my broken unit, and I am sold. I explain that I live on the third floor of a building with no elevator, and he confirms that my quote includes delivery and installation to my unit. Here comes a $1,850 credit card charge for my new laundry center, delivery, and installation. Day 9- Failed delivery attempt #1. The delivery staff subcontracted by Homewise Appliance tell me that I will need a flexible aluminum dryer ventilation hose, and that I will need to remove my laundry closet door in order to allow sufficient installation space. Homewise Appliance only sells rigid dryer ventilation hoses, not flexible ones. Could these logistics have been addressed during my phone call with Tai when I made the purchase? Certainly. Were they? Not at all. Day 15- Delivery day. I've purchased the flexible aluminum dryer ventilation hose and have removed my laundry closet door. My new laundry center is delivered and installed by two delivery staff, and my old broken unit is hauled. I immediately throw in a load. It takes five hours for the dryer to dry a partial load of clothes. ...this is not right. Day 16- I contact Tai. Now I need to have a GE service technician visit and see what's wrong with the dryer. Tai arranges a service technician appointment for me; the first viable date is about two weeks later. Day 17- The service technician company calls me; they are not available to provide service at the appointment time Tai communicated yesterday. They say I need to interface directly with them, not Homewise Appliance. I contact Tai again and let him know that it is his responsibility to ensure that I have a valid service technician appointment. Day 26- I am returning from a week of travel, and expect for Tai to have contacted me. Bupkis. My situation is elevated to Tai's boss, Marcus Parker, Operations Manager. Marcus assists with getting my service technician appointment scheduled ASAP. Day 28- Service technician appointment #1. The service technician confirms that the dryer is only heating to 70°F, and that the gas valve needs to be replaced. It will take three weeks for a new gas valve to be ordered and shipped. I contact both Tai and Marcus and demand an exchange for a new, functional laundry center ASAP. Tai tells me that I can cancel the gas valve order because we are exchanging the appliance. I don't trust this guidance and avoid cancelling. Day 31- Failed delivery attempt #2. The appliance delivery truck has BROKEN DOWN. My new laundry center cannot be delivered today. My delivery is rescheduled for after my upcoming week of travel. Day 41- Failed delivery attempt #3. Two delivery staff arrive. They complain about the number of stairs required to get to my unit, call their boss, and say they require a third person to assist for this job; the two of them cannot conduct the job today. I then discover that they don't actually have a new laundry center for me in the truck. Their instructions were to only haul away the faulty laundry center. Day 45- Failed delivery attempt #4. Two delivery staff arrive with a new laundry center for me. They unpack it outside of my building and have me take a look. There is visible denting on the exterior. The delivery staff point to the dents in the photos I take for documentation. I decline the delivery. I call Marcus and express my deep frustration. Day 48- The new gas valve has arrived! Thank goodness I never took Tai's advice to cancel this order. Day 50- Service technician appointment #2. The service technician replaces the gas valve and my dryer is fixed.

Unfortunately, the customer service after the sale was extremely disappointing. I made multiple attempts to contact the company by both phone and email regarding an appliance issue and the delivery of another appliance, but my calls were not returned. The General Manager would not return my calls and eventually responded by email only after our scheduled delivery date had already passed. The delivery process was frustrating. My tenants had to wait through multiple changes to the delivery window. When the appliance finally arrived, the delivery crew refused to install it because their paperwork authorized delivery only. The work order they showed me even stated that the appliance was to be placed in the garage--which is impossible since the property doesn't have a garage. I had already paid the installation fee in advance. I immediately contacted the General Manager, who told me he had instructed the delivery team that installation was included. By that point, however, the crew had already left. The General Manager said he would try to get them to return that day but was unable to reach them. After this experience, combined with the lack of communication and poor follow-through, I decided to cancel the order and request a full refund. I ultimately purchased the appliance from another vendor so my tenant could finally have the appliance they needed. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Davies Appliances due to the poor communication, delivery issues, and lack of customer service after the sale. It was especially disappointing that these issues were never resolved despite my repeated attempts to work directly with the company's General Manager.

My Maytag Legacy washer is a prized possession of mine - its from the year 2008 and its a priceless family heirloom passed down from my aunt. Now at nearly 20 years old it finally sprung a tiny leak. I love this washer as its the last of its kind. Its top load and it has a traditional two way agitator and it allows for warm water rinses and TRUE hot water washes. For years I ran it beside my Maytag front loader depending on what I wanted to wash. I don't want to get into some top load front load debate - they are both great and I like to have both in my laundry room - throw in a third tiny washing machine - a Sidekick with wash plate action for jeans or delicates and your in business. With help of my kitty Mr Moose I installed this water pump in maybe 10 minutes. I tilted the washer up at a 45 degree angle, snapped out the two clamps and then with pliers - the only tool I needed removed the two spring clamps from the two hoses. That is why old washers are so popular. No computers, no nonsense. Just a mechanical timer that lasts for generations and no extras. Little children rejoice - wonderful inheritance awaits you. I'd love a beautiful blue/teal pair washer gas dryer by Maytag from the 60s - some appliance rebuilders sell these things for thousands - I just might go for it one day. If your all of a sudden interested in old technology washers - look out for speed queen and Maytag commercial - from my research they are the best you can get today in terms of longevity.
