They had the part I needed in stock. Similar to online pricing too. Got my washer back in business in a snap. A world class appliance parts store. My Maytag Legacy washer is a prized possession of mine - its from the year 2008 and its a priceless family heirloom passed down from my aunt. Now at nearly 20 years old it finally sprung a tiny leak. I love this washer as its the last of its kind. Its top load and it has a traditional two way agitator and it allows for warm water rinses and TRUE hot water washes. For years I ran it beside my Maytag front loader depending on what I wanted to wash. I don't want to get into some top load front load debate - they are both great and I like to have both in my laundry room - throw in a third tiny washing machine - a Sidekick with wash plate action for jeans or delicates and your in business. With help of my kitty Mr Moose I installed this water pump in maybe 10 minutes. I tilted the washer up at a 45 degree angle, snapped out the two clamps and then with pliers - the only tool I needed removed the two spring clamps from the two hoses. That is why old washers are so popular. No computers, no nonsense. Just a mechanical timer that lasts for generations and no extras. Little children rejoice - wonderful inheritance awaits you. I'd love a beautiful blue/teal pair washer gas dryer by Maytag from the 60s - some appliance rebuilders sell these things for thousands - I just might go for it one day. If your all of a sudden interested in old technology washers - look out for speed queen and Maytag commercial - from my research they are the best you can get today in terms of longevity. read more

We have a 35+ year old JennAir stove. The burners are corroding, and I really didn't want to replace the entire stove for just a couple of burners. I called JennAir and they kindly gave me the part number of the replacement, which was a radiant heat unit (which I wanted). I googled the part, and came across APD. My gas dryer died and I was worried we'd need to get a whole new machine. A friend came over and we followed a YouTube video and took the dryer apart, tested a few components, and found that the heating element had died. The woman on the phone / behind the counter was really nice and was able to help us get the right part, and my friend and I came back and replaced it and had a working dryer that afternoon. APD is exactly the kind of local store that I love having in the community. When our dryer finally does go, we'll absolutely order a new one from here instead of a big box store. read more

Just had a freezer delivered. Delivery went smoothly, driver was very courteous. Price was great. Bought kitchen appliances 3-4 years ago, price was same or better than competition. Deliveries went well on those too. They are also a great place to buy parts for existing appliances - dishwashers, washing machine, fridge, & dryer. Staff is very knowledgeable. Prices on parts might be a little higher than online, but you're assured of getting the correct part from them or they'll get you the correct one. They can also help diagnose what might be wrong with your appliance. They've been in business since I was a kid (62 now) and my dad repaired quite a few appliances while I was growing up. I've been coming here for a few years now, and most recently as last week. The staff at APD are awesome. Sam, Grant, Joe, all of them are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to parts & new appliances. People spend a lot of wasted time going to Home Depot and Lowe's and get terrible service as the employees there typically have no clue what they're talking about when it comes to appliances and parts. When a roller on my dishwasher broke, I took it to ACE hardware. They didn't carry such things but referred me to ADP. The clerk there found the listing for my dishwasher, even though I hadn't brought the full model number and it's an older dishwasher. They didn't have it in stock so she ordered it. The part was there the next morning. Not only did APD hold my rack overnight so I wouldn't have to carry it home and back, another clerk removed the old part and put the new one on for me. Go anywhere but here. Customer service is horrible and insulting. I walked in, walked through the store, stood near the counter - no other customers in the store. No one said anything to me. Finally a gentleman looked up from his computer and asked if he could help me. I told him I needed a special size washer/dryer unit like the one on the show room floor. He says "I can't help you because I only do parts, but those guys can help you" (Evidently the "appliance guys" work on the other end of the counter where I had already been). I go back to that end. The parts guy yells out, "she needs appliance." A cluster of 5 young men are all sitting and working on a bank of computers. Finally, one looks up. "Can I help you?" I tell him what I need. He tells me that they do not have it and that the smallest machine I will find is 40". I told him, " you have it on your floor". He say to me, "no that is not it." (I AM LOOKING AT IT and I know what I need). And then, he has the audacity to ask me "why do I need that size anyway?" ... the exchange was inappropriate and insolent. Combined with the fact that I was ignored by no less than 6 people when the insolent one responded, that I was just done. I stormed out the store. Two days later I went to Airport Appliance in Emeryville. Was immediately greeted by a very courteous man who special ordered what I needed. Guess where I am going to tell all my neighbors to go ... and I will tell you, if you are reading this review... go somewhere else, anywhere else. read more

He was also kind enough to put back up the halloween display I forgot to move out of the way of our front door - he arranged it the same but slightly better than what I had set up- artistic eye I don't have! The staff is very helpful, you call them and say your on your way they will hold an item for you. Many things are in short supply and it's first come first served. APD was horrible! purchase a refrigerator for delivery to an apartment upstairs. One person showed for the delivery and could not deliver because he couldn't get up the stairs by himself with the refrigerator purchase was made on a Wednesday purchase for a delivery time for Friday between 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Unable to deliver on first attempt tried to make an extra charge additional week later delivery for 2 person to deliver to the fridge. Poor customer service! read more

My fiancé went to the Dublin location to purchase an igniter for our gas dryer. She spoke with Gil who told her that might fix it or it might be several other things. She asked if she could bring it back if it did not work. Well the part did not work, so we attempted to return it and the rude guy refused to take the return. First he said electrical parts are not returnable. I told him it's a gas igniter it's not electrical. Then he said it was installed and dirty so he wasn't taking it back. There is nothing on their return policy that says an item cannot be returned if it was installed. I don't see any dirt! Just terrible customer service I would not recommend shopping here. read more

I fully intended to give an awesome review for this place. I went in yesterday and bought a thermal couple. Didn't catch the name of the guy that helped me. He was so so nice. Younger guy. I even told him a 5 start Yelp review was coming. However I needed another part today and the guy behind the counter was a complete jerk. You guys should seriously fire some of these employees that act so inconvenienced to help your customers. It is so hit and miss in there. Depends on who calls your forward to the counter. On the receipt it says Arnold Moniz but I'm not sure that is his name. He is an over weight guy that looks like he is in his late 50's with badly greased back hair although he is balding. I needed a new control valve. In the past they have been kind enough to remove the old control valve for me because they have a vice in the back. This guy had an attitude from the minute I came in. I told him I was in a hurry to help a tenant with this one and that I shop here all the time. So many sighs from him. Maybe he is just having a bad day. He asked me to leave the burner/control valve there and he'd call me later when it was ready. No way in heck was that going to happen. It literally takes like 1 minute to free the control valve from the burner. I asked to speak to a supervisor. Here comes the deeper sigh and grumbling "oh it is going to be like this!". What a jerk! Supervisor comes over and isn't friendly or unfriendly but lacks basic customer service skills. Just very matter of fact. I explained to him that I am a regular customer and that I'm in a tight spot and I really need help with this. He didn't mind going to do it but he had a similar grunt to him. This place needs a complete overall of employees. I can buy all these items online these days and so can anybody else. I come here because your guys sometimes give tips on how to fix things. If you guys want to look up my particular order it was order number 3125328. Ughhh. So annoyed. Edited!!! Thanks for posting another review APD calling me a rude person. This is not at all true. I walked in in a good mood. I could not have been more polite to the obviously disgruntled employee with greasy hair. I just really needed the help like in that moment not when it was convenient for him. Taking the burner off the control valve takes like 2 minutes. Asking a customer to leave their property with a business and then wait for a call to come back and pick up their property is not a good policy. I wouldn't trust somebody with my property like this. I went over greasy hair to talk to the manager and I did it politely as well. I explained to the manager politely I WAS a regular customer and I'd very much appreciate the favor of doing this for me now so I could get back to work. I actually thanked greasy hair man multiple times despite him not deserving it because it is the holidays. I'm only leaving this review so management can know and improve their business. I'm a small business owner myself and my amazing employees are the life blood of my successful business. The review looking to discount me as an rude person only hurts your business more. It lacks a professional response to an unhappy customer experience. Hope greasy hair employee can get retrained on customer service and this in turn helps your business. Although some people are just not meant to work a retail job. Not everybody can smile all the time. Brandon made the sale, Grant arranged the delivery & takeaway of the old & the install. Roy did the actual installation. Everything went swimmingly. Roy is a jewel. Pleasant, friendly, smiling, efficient. I have dealt with APD in San Leandro on a number of occasions (I buy my fridge filters from them now rather than on-line). Always friendly & super knowledgeable. Far better than Sears installation and even better than Airport Appliance in terms of being comfortable with strangers coming into the house. read more
