Service was completed quickly on an a/c unit around 9 pm on a week night a few weeks ago in the midst of a major heat wave. Their fee explanation could be much clearer, both over the phone/prior to servicing the unit, and on the receipt. We did contact the business and request an itemized receipt, provided email to have them send out receipt, but have not gotten one yet. We are super glad to have our a/c working again, and it was really convenient to get help so late at night at such short notice, and the a/c unit is still plugging away. In the future, I'd use them again if they could provide an explanation for the fees for service and parts, instead of just giving a "lump sum" total for the service. read more

I had to recently replace the gas furnace at my townhouse. Scott was great in helping provide a realistic estimate. I got the appointment within a week. Jeremy helped install the furnace. Very speedy and professional. I had a lingering feeling that I was getting fleeced by Shavtiz and it got confirmed by having worked with AA. The furnace replacement costs were 60% of what Shavitz had quoted me. I am never going back to Shavitz. AA is awesome. read more

If you have no problem PAYING MORE than you should and dealing with ALL THE HASSLES, this is the company you should choose. Their technician did a decent job but my overall experience was terrible. Their employees care nothing about you; instead, they are trained to push you into making a decision under pressure in their favor, and there were NO communication between their office and their technicians, making you pay more and get less. Note: The story is too long so I put the full story in the attached photos. I'm going to fix this when I have time. Here's the story. We called on a Thursday morning to request a diagnosis and potential repair of HVAC due to its fan noise. Confirmed on the phone that they do FREE estimates (like many companies do, unless they are playing with words). Waited for a full day, and the technician, Andy, didn't arrive until 5pm. Andy quickly diagnosed the obvious fan problem and said the inducer motor would be dying soon (even that night) and needed immediate replacement. Cost estimate was $891 but a 50% advance deposit was required before ordering the part. A quick google search told me that $900 would be a very high cost both for the part and the labor. So we requested if there was a breakdown of part and labor and were told it was just a flat fee - i.e., no breakdown, but he could include cleaning/maintenance in this package (he wouldn't have said that if we hadn't asked). We further asked if it there were any other cost-efficient ways (e.g. like a repair) and were told there was nothing else they could do. He also urged us to make the decision ASAP! Since $900 was not a small amount of money, and Andy said he had other work to do and had to leave, we asked if we could call him later that night if we decided to order the replacement. Andy said their office was closed after 5pm (not our fault because he came late!) so we wouldn't be able to call later that night to make the order. Besides we would owe ~$89 for his trip if we couldn't decide immediately whether to order the part, with the problem unsolved. Why is it called a FREE estimate if they charge you for the trip? Is it fun to play with words? What's worse, when we asked if we could pay the $89 first and have that deducted from their next trip if we decided to order the replacement through them later THAT NIGHT, in which case they would lose nothing but we would have at least one option, he said no. Andy even "reminded" (threatened) us that there would be a winter storm on Friday (the next day), and if we didn't make the decision immediately, he couldn't guarantee that it would be replaced on Friday and we might end up with no heat throughout the weekend. Under a lot of pressure, with their 5 star review on yelp (about which I now suspect that they pay people to get negative reviews removed), with their promise to get the fan replaced the next day even with severe weather, and with maintenance included, we paid more than a 50% deposit. Along with a $126 replacement cost of a humidifier tube (also expensive), the total was $1017, so we paid $509, and the balance was $508. After we paid it, Andy oiled the fan and left, saying it would hopefully work until the next morning. Out of curiosity I googled again to see what should be done if the fan started to make noise (which I would have done before calling them if I hadn't been so busy that day). The FIRST result from google told me to oil the fan (like what Andy did AFTER charging us). Google also told us that the noise level we heard from the fan was OK after oiling, and it might keep working for a while - definitely not that its death was imminent! So the lesson we learnt, besides googling before making a service call, was NEVER to trust that they would do a FREE estimate, and never to trust that they wouldn't overcharge you or insist you need something expensive. If they had told us their estimate wasn't free, we would probably try to fix it ourselves first. And if it had been indeed a free estimate like many companies offered, we might have wanted to wait until the fan was indeed dying before replacing it, and we probably would have called them again. Or even if we had had a chance to think twice about it, we would have definitely paid the $89 for their trip and labor in order to avoid the immediate replacement. I believe Andy knew this, which was exactly why he pressured us SO HARD to pay a deposit. And because they knew they were overcharging so they were afraid of us calling around (which we wouldn't do unless they pissed us off). The next day, I asked for a vacation day from work and waited at home for their repair. Then we received a call from Darcy, someone from their office, asking if we wanted to order the parts (with a different quote). Of course! It should have been done yesterday! Then she continued by saying that since they were ordering the part on Friday, it wouldn't be ready for repair until Monday... (See photos for full review) read more

Amazing. I used AA for years and stupidly stopped and have nothing but nightmarish stories (will give names!) about everyone else we used since. My husband, Mr VeryUnhandy tried to change a lightbulb last night, created sparks, blew out several indoor and outdoor lights and decided to deal with it another time. Woke up to no furnace this bitter morning and called AA. Their service manager face timed me (embarrassingly in my robe) down to the unlabeled fuse box and got the lights and furnace going even tho I'd flipped all the switches earlier. A genius! Liyon Zya (hopefully I have his name right? He was Tech #430) came to my house today to do an annual inspection of my air conditioning unit. He was the BEST technician I've ever had! He was thorough and certainly knew what he was doing. He suggested that I use a different filter for better air flow and also to not put a load on my unit. No one ever explained that to me. In addition, he noticed that my outdoor faucet was dripping and got out his wrench to fix it. Once again AA came to our rescue. 25 below zero last week and our furnace died! I called AA and was delighted to see Lance P. at my front door within only a few hours. Good thing, as it was COLD in here! Lance was polite and empathetic and wholly professional, diagnosing the issue quickly and repairing it with complete confidence. What i appreciate profoundly about everyone we have had service our heating or cooling needs from AA is that they are obviously at the top of their game, SO nice, and never leave you with the feeling of being taken advantage of. This organization thrives because they have the consumers best interest in mind. I called AA for a service estimate and they had a specialist out that same afternoon. There was an $89 charge but that is nothing compared to the knowledge and HVAC repair report that I received from Andy. Received a call as promised prior to his arrival, and then the flow of knowledge began. He not only identified issues with our AC system, but also worked very quickly with his head office to find out what was under warranty and how soon the parts would be available. There was no pressure to use AA or any other company, it was geared towards what would be best for me as the homeowner. I also ended up signing up for the maintenance program after learning how a few small items could end up as costly repairs. Glad to have people like Andy in this neighborhood! read more

My tenant scheduled an appointment with them because the HVAC was leaking. AA was supposed to call me to let me know what they found out but never did. I ended up calling them and I find out i needed to replace my evap coil but it was recommended to replace the whole unit. They couldn't even tell me how much either would cost from the initial diagnostic. They wanted to transfer me to sales. Not efficient at all. read more

Maybe their service would be better than 1 star but since I called Chicagoland Air Duct and they responded immediately and I already have a quote, I feel like in comparison, this company gets a one star. Worst mistake of my life was to use this company. Management does not care about the customers. You call and call and only get voicemail to this Mark guy. They over charge and did absolutely nothing to fix my Geo system and even made matters worst. If you don't have a huge mansion they send you a rookie tech with no experience. In my house now 20 years and, well, that is furnace-replacement time. We have three units. Replaced one last summer and the other two this past week. AA showed up exactly when they said they would, came with enough guys to complete the job in one day, cleaned up any mess they made, and have followed up since they were here. Due to their good reviews and prices, I was going to sign-up for their annual maintenance plan until they called me incessantly upon my initial inquiries. I sent them an email regarding potential service and they called me early in the morning and left a message -- I didn't have a chance to call back and they called again like an hour later -- I was driving and couldn't look at my schedule and said I'd call back and they called like two or three times that day and about three times a day for the next few days, leaving multiple voicemails One day I had three voicemails from them. read more

If only every company was this great to deal with! We have been using them for ten years, and my parents have used them since I was a kid. The servicemen are always very nice. They are good about calling to let you know when they are going to arrive, and have always arrived in the two hour window I scheduled. Scott and the crew were so great! Scott gave me a very reasonable estimate, and my install was scheduled for the following Saturday, which was nice so I didn't have to miss work. They totally tore out and replaced my 23 year old furnace and central air, in a little less than 5 hours! I'm very frustrated with AA Service after trying multiple times to schedule service for my air conditioners and furnaces. The first two times I've waited for the technician to come only for him to tell me that he didn't have enough time to service my units, and they have left without doing any work. Both times they told me the company would follow up to reschedule the service and it never happened. This time I called for service and told them explicitly that I have two units and that I had to leave the house at a specific time. I was assured that I would have enough time. Sure enough, today the technician said he would not have enough time to service my units and that I would have to reschedule AGAIN. After 5+ years of trying to stay loyal to this business, I am done. read more

Ralph came out to our place to investigate an issue with our furnace that occured after they installed a new AC Condensor and Coil. Post the AC installation our furnace quit working, Raloh was able to diagnose the issue quickly fix the motor without any new parts. Apparently during the AC installation a piece of the plastic vent tube connector broke off and jammed the motor, Ralph removed the plastic blocking the motor and bent the blades back into shape which fixed the problem. His investigative work saved us a few hundred dollars. read more

Great company from the top down. They have worked on 10 of my furnace/ac units, air exchanger, large dehumidifier, from my business to my home. AA service has done everything for me from new furnaces to servicing old ones. I'm very particular about how duct work should look and they surpassed my expectations. I think over the last five years I have met every technician that works there and they have all been amazing. Extremely professional & very nice guys. I have dealt with Scot Koch and AA Service several times in the last few years. Scot is extemely knowledgeable with 25+ years in the business. Last Saturday our blower moter burnt out on our 15 year old furnace. The cost to repair made us to decide to get a new furnace. I asked 3 companies to bid. Both of the other companies were high, tried to sell us things we didn't need and one of them wasn't very polite about anwering questions. I called Scott. He came out on Tuesday. He answered all our questions a provided a proposal before the end of the day. On Weds I checked with all 3 companies to make sure I was comparing apples to apples and verify when the could schedule installation. I called Scott several tmes with questions on Weds. His quote was very reasonable and outlined what was going to be done and how it was going to be done. Even more impressive was that he had already made arranges for us to have installation first thing Saturdaly morning the 23rd. He even responded to texts late Friday night and at 7 a.m. Saturday morning. He couldn't have been nicer. He didn't try to sell us things we didn't need and told us we already had things that we didn't nee. His crew showed up exactly on time Saturday morning. They were courteous, professional and neat. We very seldom receive the level of professionalism from beginning to end as we did with Scott and AA Service. AAS installed and serviced our HVAC for a5 years+. The service techs were (usually) really great. The costs were a bit high, which was fine. But the techs kept pressuring me to put in new units and spend about $10,000. On the other hand, another AA tech would show up and say, "No, these are doing fine...". Apparently, they may be some kind of commission involved in getting the homeowner to spend $$$ on buying and installing new equipment. I may be wrong, but that's what everyone is telling me is happening. So, someone recommended a different (very small) company/person to my wife which in lieu of a service contract with AA Service, I thought I would give him a try. He is awesome. Charges 1/2 was AA does, and in a couple cases, just stopped by at no charge to address a couple issues I had. Turns out, the zone damper assembly had some issues, so I called AA since they installed it. It was an issue with the small electric motor that opens/closed the damper. It was sticking. AA said they would only replace the entire damper assembly for almost $900. I looked up the small motor cost on the internet. It was less than $10. I essentially fixed the small motor with some WD40. Fast forward a couple of years. Our Carrier secondary heat exchanger failed on one of the heaters. No heat. My small company guy said the secondary heat exchanger was found to be faulty and recalled by Carrier in a lawsuit. They were and are required to have a Carrier dealer, like AA service, replace the and install the part at no cost to the homeowner. I called AA service, Funny, they didn't seem to know about it although it was all over the internet, I would the Dealer Bulletin in like 1 minute. AA said they would check into it and call me back. No call. 3 more messages left. No call. Finally, got a call from a different guy. I explained it to him, and he was aware of the recall, and explained that they basically wouldn't do the job because Carrier doesn't pay them enough labor to swap out the part. It would cost me an extra $500. Imagine your car brakes are defective and recalled by Ford, but the Ford Dealer says he doesn't want to fix the brakes because it's not worth the money to him? That makes no sense. How is that legal? And, surprise, that second guy that called was actually a Salesman who wanted to talk to me about buying new heaters. Funny, how the salesman knew about the Carrier Secondary Heat Exchanger recall, but the guy in service seemed to be oblivious and I had to give him the information I had found on my own. So, I called Carrier Customer Service. Nice lady. She explained they Carrier dealers are under obligation, but obviously they weren't upholding their commitment. She suggested I call another company and connected me to them. I assume there will be some repercussions that extend beyond this social media hit. There should be. That was terrible service, and still no heat. read more

Do not hire this company. During a heat wave they accepted my service request. After waiting past the time quoted, they arrived and made a fuss about the parking situation. They proceeded to diagnose the problem and indicate that they just needed to order a part. Of course this was a Friday, so we waited until Monday to hear back from them. After calling to follow-up they indicated that they would not be returning because of the location of the unit in the city. So though the unit could of been repaired by a different company on Saturday, they left me in the lurch. read more

I called them for an estimate I was very disappointed. First, the guy I talked to said they only can come anytime from 7-330. I told him that I can arrange for my father in law to be at the house to meet him and he told me they only meet with homeowners because they like to build a relation and that if I was looking just for a number they weren't the ones, how rude!
