Summary: I will definitely call AA again and request Phet if possible. He did a great job. The Details: Due to an electrical issue leading to the furnace, my lennox stopped working. Once power was restored by the electrician he warned me that devices on that line might have problems which was the case. - Phet X. from AA Service came out after the electrician was done to figure out the issue. - Phet was on time and had called ahead to let me know he was on the way (Perfect!). - Within 15 minutes, he figured out that while he could detect juice going to the transformer, there was none coming out. 15 min later, he had a new transformer in. - - Before installing, he showed me the new part and the price that was in the book he carried (so he didn't make up the price on the fly which I've seen others due!). - After he fixed it and the furnace fired up, I figured he'd bill me and take off but he stayed cause he wanted to make sure the furnace fired up to stage 2. I didn't know what that was so he described it to me. I told him, I've never heard the furnace get louder or hotter than this. After 18 minutes, it never triggered stage 2. He did it manually and said I should have heard and felt it by now. Big Difference! - Phet looked up the Lennox model to check its wiring diagrams and realized it should have kicked in at 10 min (he told me its different for different brands). - He poked around for another 10 minutes and figured out the issue. The furnace had been installed (previous owner) expecting a 2 stage thermostat. However, I only had wires to support a 1 stage thermostat. He change jumpers to tell the furnace its a one stage thermostat and restarted the furnace. - 10 minutes later (to the second...I was timing it), the furnace went from stage 1 to stage 2 by itself. For years, the bedrooms upstairs were too cold and I always figured its just the vents or window seals or something. Nope, it was the furnace basically working at HALF capacity. All this time, I've been using space heaters in those bedrooms. Because of the technician's thoroughness and knowledge, he solved a problem I hadn't even called him for. Our 14 year old furnace went out on December 22. ABC Plumbing, the first HVAC company we contacted, told us it would cost us $1,500 to repair the igniter and circuit board. They then went into a hard sell for a new furnace. They quoted over $6,600 for an 80,000 BTU furnace to heat the first floor (we have a second furnace that heats the second floor). The next morning I called AA Service. Scott from AA measured our house and told us we only needed a 60,000 BTU furnace. He also said if we didn't want to replace the furnace, AA would repair the igniter and circuit board for $750. AA's price for the 60,000 BTU furnace was almost $1,800 less than ABC's quote for an 80,000 BTU unit. So I had a third company, H.R. Witt, inspect my house. Witt also recommended a 60,000 BTU unit, and their quote was within $100 of AA. (All three companies' quotes included a humidifier and thermostat and installation.) The professionalism of both AA and Witt were outstanding. I'm sure Witt would have done a good job. I ultimately choose AA because they have more Yelp reviews than Witt does. By the time I had all the quotes and decided to use AA, it was 4:10 p.m. on Dec 23. I called Scott, who said AA would be able to install the new furnace the next day, which was Christmas Eve. The installers, Adam and Tyler, arrived right on time. They were very polite, laid down tarps and boards to protect our floors, and did a great job explaining what how to operate the new furnace, humidifier and thermostat. I think AA had called both Adam and Tyler in to work on a day they were supposed to have off, but if either of them was unhappy about working the day before Christmas, they didn't show it. Furnaces and air conditioners are big ticket items, so I'll always get multiple quotes. But I'm confident AA's quote will be reasonable, and as long as their service continues to be as professional as Scott, Adam and Tyler provided, AA will remain my preferred provider. Witt will also be a possible choice. I would not use ABC. read more

AA Service should rename themselves FF Service...for Misogyny and utter contempt for their customers. Cynical remarks aside, this is not a pleasant company that has compelled me to write a review. First, we ask for a call out to inspect our faulty air conditioner. The engineer treats my wife who was home at the time as a non-entity frequently telling her to call her husband if she doesn't understand what he is talking about and telling her our A/C unit is extremely old 10-12 years despite her proving it was installed only 6yrs ago. I advised her to send him on his way and called to complain. I was told that the specific engineer is a bit of a Love Him / Hate Him guy and they have a list of clients who they don't send him out to service. Furthermore they tell me he is Eastern European and that's how Eastern European men are... Funny, I know plenty of Eastern European men who aren't misogynists. They then assure me that they will come back to me with a proposal on what needs to be done with our unit and make me happy. Great. 2 weeks goes buy and no phone call or any other communication. I decide to call someone else. We get our A/C fixed. Then it occurs to me that it isn't right for these guys to get away with treating my wife so poorly and then to promise to make it right but ultimately just ignore the potential $3k job so I called to ask what happened to them calling me back and making it right. They were apologetic saying they'd apply the call out fee to any work done and get on it right away until I told them I already had the work done as I couldn't wait... Well they changed their tune and said no refund of call out fee and no apology for Petr, their misogynistic service engineer. I guess they don't need customers... so if you want to be treated poorly and have female family members spoken down to... give FF Service a call... read more

AA SERVICE CO. IS THE BEST! About a year and a half ago I was diagnosed with a terminal disease called ALS. Recently we moved into a more handicap accessible home. Spring came and we find out we have no ac and need a new furnace. We called AA Sevice Co. and that's when a met the best sales rep ever, JAMES RENTERIA. He came, looked over our entire existing hvac system and thoroughly explained all our options. At that point we explained we would have to think about what to do. We were overwhelmed with the cost. Although they offer financing, we could not afford another monthly payment on top of medical and new house debt. That's when James stepped away to make a call. He came back and said 'what if I can make you an offer you can't refuse? ITS FREE!' I immediately started crying as he explained that Lennox (the manufacturer) and AA Sevice Co. through a program called Feel the Love donate to families in need of help. They were donating the entire hvac system and install! I was in disbelief but sure enough a couple days later two of the nicest installers were here. They did an amazing job. Our old furnace was in the middle of the utility room. They moved it to the side to make more space as well as cleaning up all the old messy lines outside and it looks great. James also came to make sure the install went smoothly. We now have a quiet (our old furnace was so loud) and cool house. James and AA Sevices Co. we cannot thank you enough for nominating our family! I feel so incredibly grateful! We have two young boys that are learning a great lesson in giving back and one day we hope to pay it forward someway in return. Thank you so very much!!! read more

We have been using AA Service for many years now and have always been very satisfied with our encounters with the sales, service, and office personnel. AA Service is a very professional organization. The office staff is always very helpful and their system for reminding people of their appointments is very buttoned-up. Our interactions with Scott in sales were very good. He is honest and helpful. What more can you ask of a salesperson? We just recently had our annual furnace check. Scott S. was our technician. He was prompt for our appointment and was thorough and honest. We have a very old furnace and he could have easily told us that we had to have our furnace replaced immediately and we would have believed him. Rather, he made sure everything was working properly, informed us that we should get a sales quote somewhere in the near future so that we would know what our costs would be should our very old furnace decide to die. We spoke with Scott S. for a short while and he let us know how important it was to him to work for a reputable organization such AA Service. He's been with them for about 3 years and has been in the HVAC business all his working life. He is proud of his work and of the company. I have just started working with this company recently (last couple years) and the engineers have always been incredibly professional, courteous and fastidious. Today, Joe R. showed up on time with a smile on his face and ready to work. Joe tolerated my dog and was able to help work through a rather unfortunate snafu that happened with the person who scheduled the visit and an installation that was supposed to take place / be installed but could not be because he did not have the part. Even though my schedule is incredibly tight day to day and I had to take the morning off for Joe to come by and do only a portion of the work that was scheduled and should have been performed, Joe was able to work though the situation with ease and compassion. Joe left me with a great feeling that my equipment was brought up to speed, that he did so in the fastest time possible and all with an incredibly positive disposition. He displayed empathy when he needed to and genuinely wanted to work toward a solution to the snafu that was in no way appearing to be his fault- or anything that he could have helped to avoid. Honestly not too happy that it looks likely that I will need to take ANOTHER morning off for the item to be installed but you can see the effect Joe had on the visit and the ability he had to pull me out of a potential one star review. read more

I would highly recommend AA Service Co Heating & Cooling, totally highly pleased and happy with the service and install. Reviews on the company convinced me to give them a call for an estimate. Scott K (friendly and personable) came out in July to evaluate and provided various options and price. Total cost was a hugh factor. He answered questions and explained clearly so I had a clear understanding of the various option systems and what would take place. (No pressure) Dave A and Eric S arrived promptly at scheduled time to install furnace and AC unit They're friendly and very professional. They worked so meticulously organized and orderly. Great team work and working partnership. Dave A handled the furnace and Eric S handled the AC taking apart the old and installing the new. Impressed with their skills, knowledge, expertise and that they are seasoned installer's with many years and with the company. They did a terrific job ...running new coolant drip lines for the AC and Furnace vents, water line, electrical. After install completed units were turned on to run for heat and cooling. AA Service Co is outstanding. I had a furnace die on Thursday evening. We contacted another highly rated company on Yelp who came out Friday and offered to install a Goodman furnace. The cost seemed high though so I called AA on Friday night. Brock Hopma came out Saturday morning and provided a quote for a Carrier furnace for 25% less. He also shuffled their scheduling to be able to install the furnace first thing Monday morning. On arrival, Dave A & Frank P laid down tarps, used shoe covers, and got to work removing the old furnace. Tearing out is more appropriate though as there was literally zero clearance between the old furnace and the ducting. Dave & Frank had to disassemble the old furnace piece by piece with screwdrivers and a sawzall to be able to remove it. Despite all this they kept the area extremely neat and clean - in fact the furnace cabinet was cleaner when they left than when they began. To top it all off, Dave & Frank also diagnosed and repaired my malfunctioning humidifier and an existing installation problem with the air conditioner (done before I purchased my home) that was causing my weak cooling in the summer. I can't say enough how satisfied I am with AA Service Co. I wish I had called them years ago. read more

In the past I had provided a positive review on the service quality of the technicians and the company but my recent experience with their sales quote process was unacceptable. I had an air conditioner develop a hole in the freon tube and lost all the freon. With the cost to replace the old style materials so high and the labor I decided to replace the machine as it was 13 years old, near the end of it's life. AA Service came to make a recommendation to replace and was deliberate in over pricing the quote and for a smaller machine charging over 30% more than a similar competitor. When I questioned the quote the salesman stated we have to make a profit as if making a bloated and unfair profit was their right to charge customers like myself, who appear capable of paying more. It's as if they target the wealthy to charge them more and perhaps they even do the same for others. My suspicion is they over charge frequently and they are now losing my support and business. Disregard my previous review. They need to make an adjustment in their business practice. And my the way when I called their company to discuss this never heard from the OWNERS!!! This is regarding the purchase and installation of both an AC and furnace system. I have been a long time customer of AA Service for 15-20+ years and longer. The consistent excellent service on routine maintenance in summer/winter was one of the final deciding factors to go with AA Service for my new system. I did an extensive amount of research.. Scott was my salesmen and was extremely thorough. He answered all my questions and came to my house a few times. I wanted to ensure I had a solid, experienced installation team to couple the equipment selection. Dave A, Dave and Erik were the assigned install team. These guys did an amazing job. They clearly were seasoned experts. Showed up as expected, took care with tarps and boards to ensure floors and carpets weren't damaged..They went to work and knew exactly what they were doing.. They explained the equipment at the end of the install and answered questions as I asked.. I HIGHLY recommend AA for all your HVAC needs.. New install and ongoing service and support. It was 8:00 pm on a hot day, Thursday night, and the air went out. Fan stopped then hearing the buzz of the motor tried to spin the blades and it started again but way under power. Called AA Service and Scott S called me back knowing he'd probably already put in a long day with the heat. Told him the situation and was able to tell me with spot on expertise what the problem probably was, Of course you never know the whole story until the expert takes a look. He came by the house replaced the capacitor and house chilled up like he said it would. The number was on the furnace when we bought the house so I called. Its the technician that earns the trust and Scott was as honest and straight forward as could be - a true craftsman explaining things in laymen's terms. I immediately signed up for the maintenance agreement because it makes sense - priority scheduling, no OT on service calls but more important - piece of mind the job is going to get done the right way the first time. Why take a risk when you need to be cold in the summer and warm in the winter. We had a 15 year old builder-grade furnace that required multiple forms of major maintenance over the years before my wife and I decided that we were ready for a completely new and upgraded system. We called John from AA, our service provider, who quickly stopped over to discuss our home heating/cooling challenges in order to design the best solution, with multiple options based on our budget and preferences. With our decision in hand, John and his team began their work - including additional design and measurement, installation, and post installation support. John and his team provided excellent service at each step and they took the time to thoroughly answer all of my questions - from simple thermostat tweaks to more complex damper adjustments - in an easy to understand way, avoiding the common industry jargon. Living in a multilevel townhouse, we constantly had trouble heating/cooling the upper and lower floors. The new system was completely rebuilt and functioning in 1 day! It works perfectly. We are now living comfortably on all three levels without wearing multiple warm layers. I highly recommend John, his team, and the broader AA company. read more

I recently had an issue with my brand-new furnace, installed just two months ago, and called AA Service for assistance. The technician diagnosed the problem as a failed inducer motor, stating that it wasn't spinning and needed replacement. He also noted that the output pipe was disconnected and claimed to find metal and PVC debris from the installation, suggesting this could have caused the motor failure. For safety reasons, he turned off the furnace entirely. Shortly after, I received a quote for the motor replacement totaling $1,100. However, two days later, I turned the furnace back on, and it functioned perfectly. I also inspected the unit myself and found that the inducer motor was spinning without any issues. This leads me to believe that the original diagnosis was incorrect, potentially intended to justify an expensive repair. Additionally, the technician included irrelevant observations in the invoice, seemingly unrelated to the actual problem. This appears to have been done to justify shutting down my furnace completely. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend their services. read more

We are not very satisfied. We had to reserve our maintenance call months in advance because they are "booked up." When the service guy arrived he told my wife that our maintenance agreement had expired, and he charged us $267.00. I called the office the next day and found out that the agreement had NOT expired ... the guy told us a directly false statement. Then, he replaced the air filters that were only 3 months old (we are paying top dollar for 12 month filters). Then he tried to charge us for flame sensors that were quite new (the furnaces are only 2 years old). After I insisted, he agreed to replace them under warranty. Then he charged us for humidifier pads, although he didn't have them on hand, despite us telling him specifically NOT to. This is a lot to go wrong on one visit! I called the office (twice ... they did not return my call as promised) and they tried to placate me, but I did not get the sense that this was unusual for them. I assume that they are competent at their work but they will try to upcharge you for everything. read more

I called the emergency hotline after my furnace stopped working and was able to get free assistance to walk through the problem over the phone. The technician (Scott S) helped me get a temporary solution immediately that would provide heat through the night. The best part is that he saved me over $60 by not coming out at 11pm and waiting until the morning. In the morning, I called again to get an appointment for the broken part. Joe R came and was able to quickly confirm the issue from the previous night and replaced the part. They were reasonably fast and knowledgeable every step of the way. I would highly recommend their services should you have any issues with Carrier furnaces. Update 11/20/15: I scheduled an annual repair appointment. At the appointment, Scott S. was able to give me authentic and straightforward advice on my options for a 17yr old furnace. He was clear to point out areas he wasn't the best at and even recommended to not buy a new furnace just yet. No high-pressure sales tactics required. read more

Our family has used AA Service for over 10 years. We renew our maintenance agreement each time because we are impressed with their customer service and quality of work. Over the years we've had many technicians over for both our furnace and AC. We've never felt like they pushed new parts or work that was not necessary, and we appreciate their honesty. At our last maintenance check, the technician discovered a crack in our furnace's heat exchange and recommended a new unit. John S came over to give us estimates on different models and offered financing options that could fit into our budget. The installers were professional and neat, installing a new furnace in a very tight space, along with a new AC unit too. We appreciate the time that John S took to come back afterwards to check the furnace, along with walking us through how to work the new thermostat and answer any questions. Joseph was so polite. Call in advance of showing up, arrived on time, explained all issues, checked that I understood the answers. Wears shoe covers. Bought the maint. plan this time which give you discount and priority scheduling. He gets 5 stars. ONLY ISSUE I HAVE is that when I made the appointment I told the scheduler I thought I had a leak in the AC. The scheduler made the appointment when it was about 47 degrees out and the technician that came said you can't check for leaks or add coolant unless its warmer. I even asked the scheduler if it was OK to have them come out now and she said sure. Though the technician did say I had no coolant in the unit, he could not check for where the leak is in the cold weather and I paid for a service call and will need to take off work again for when they come on a warmer day. Maybe talk with a technician before scheduling an appointment so the scheduler understand the issues. read more

After the Gas Company turned off our service because there were leaks in the system, I contacted AA Service and asked them to send Andy C back to do the work. I talked with Andy and told him that the person from the North Shore gas had not marked the leaks but had shown them tome. Andy came out and did a great job repairing the leaks, He pointed out that the work had not been done using all black pipe, He replaced as much of the job with black pipe and with new tun off valves. The person who returned from North Shore gas said we did not have a large enough space for him to turn on both hot water heaters and Furnace. He relit the one hot water heater and disconnected the job Andy had done on the furnace and other hot water heater. Andy stuck around and reconnected the Furnace and hot water heater and then relit the pilot lights. In short he was a real godsend to us in getting the heat restored to our home. read more

We had John S come out and perform a preliminary check as to what our options were in regards to a new HAVC unit. He took his time and was very knowledgable about the questions we asked. After looking over our duct work and old HAVC unit, we gave 3 options to proceed with. He did not hound or pressure us into buying anything. When we were ready, we contacted John and he put us in touch with Mike. They installed a top of the line Zoned Carrier unit in 1 day. They did a nice job cleaning up after themselves and were very professional. Mike explained the basics of the thermostat and John came back and explained it in further detail for an hour. John was very thorough and made sure all of our questions were answered. The overall price of the unit was not cheap but it's zoned, much quieter, more efficient, and should last a very long time.
