Overall, I'm a fan of AAA. I do have to say that their service at this specific facility is frustrating to say the least. The side that signs you up for things (i.e. Sign up for big ticket payments like insurance or becoming a member) has more than enough staff to get you thru the door. The other side of the floor that provides service is a disgrace. Waiting for 2 hours isn't uncommon here. This is the absolute best AAA location I have been to, and as an ardent inter-state traveler that's been to just about every office within California, I have to say this little office nestled in the small city of Encino is by far the best I've experienced. Today I came in to get my registration tags because a few months ago they were stolen from my mailbox. We had an incident in my building where someone accessed a master key and stole everyone's mail in order to likely obtain the stimulus checks. I have been waiting for my registration tags ever since because a week or so prior I had paid for my registration immediately after getting a smog check. I went to AAA to get new stickers because I came to the realization that they had been stolen along with my other mail. I proceeded to ask an employee by the name Rachel to help me with this. I had been told my fee would be waived because I never got my tags. Rachel was extremely rude when she was offering me assistance. She was adamant about charging me a $22 fee despite another employee mentioning that it would be waived. I explained my situation to her and she kept saying I needed a police report despite having an entire email conversation with my building management about mail being stolen at the time my tags were mailed. She finally caved when an employee pointed out how she can waive the fee, but she was extremely rude to the both of us and said that I might get it voided by the DMV and I would get a ticket because of that. She proceeded to waive it and then I got a bit scared so I said I would just pay it if that's what would be safest, so she had me go ahead and drive all the way back home and come back with cash because I only had card. I came back and asked for a different employee to help me because I thought it was quite ridiculous the way I was being treated, especially considering my mother and I have been AAA members for over ten years. I was then helped by Dominique who was AMAZING, UNDERSTANDING AND KIND. All things that Rachel was not. Dominique understood my situation and waived the fee with no issues because it was really not my fault that my tags were stolen. Rachel just wanted to charge me a fee for some reason, which I did not understand. I am a customer service employee myself and I know that Rachel was just being unnecessarily rude and disrespectful for no good reason. I'm really grateful for Dominique helping me, and it was quite the laugh for me to see Rachel stand by on the other side and see Dominique do an amazing job. Unfortunately I will not be giving 5 stars because Rachel was not helpful and seems to have a strong hold on DMV services at AAA. In addition, I didn't get an apology from her right after I had realized she had lied to me about NOT being able to waive the fee. Dominique gets 5 stars from me, but Rachel certainly gets a 0. I hope that some action can be taken, because this isn't customer service, this is a great way to scam your customers into spending unnecessary money in the middle of the disaster we are in, and that's what we certainly do not need. Booked a vacation with their travel department and was very excited! Problem was, there was no transportation coordinated for us to/from the airport when we arrived in Kona, Hawaii and had to figure it out ourselves on the spot. Also, the travel agent booked us a room with two beds instead of one for my husband and I. I called and left a voicemail that day with AAA (people rarely answer the phone). A gentleman called back later saying our travel agent was not in that day and he will have a manager call us to address the issue when we returned from vacation. We have been back over 2 weeks and no one has contacted us. Not very good customer service :( read more

I was hesitant to go to this branch to pay my car registration due to these yelp reviews. However, I decided that I would try it out and avoid the hours spent at a DMV. I am SO GLAD I did! I was literally in and out within 10 minutes. It might have helped that I went at 11am. I checked in, got my parking ticket validated and then stood in line (there was only one person working and he was helping someone). When it was my turn, he was able to process my registration in less than 5 minutes. Got my tags and left! Never been easier to pay my car registration. Tip: they only accept cash or check for DMV transactions. read more

What an amazing alternative to going to the DMV. I needed new license plates and they were able to help me in a matter of minutes (this would have taken an hour or two plus at the DMV). I walked in, stood in a short line, spoke with a representative that gave me a number, waited for 5 minutes, was helped by a very kind woman, was given new plates, and I was on my way. I had some trouble in removing my old license plate but the woman gave me some tools and even came out to bring me my paperwork to expedite the process. read more

The staff was very helpful with questions I had putting my late husband's car in my name. The staff member for the DMV, Alex, helped with the paper work I needed to fill out and everything went smoothly. I had AAA Insurance for 5 years. When I moved they increased my premium by 240 dollars per year, even though my driving record has been perfect for 25 years. I've always thought this practice was total B.S. So I decided to look around and found Geico to be 24 dollars less, if fact only 2 dollars more than before I moved. So I took it. AAA customer service is nothing to be desired, in fact they suck. I'm so glad to be done with them. AAA rewards excellent drivers by increasing thier premiums. read more

Wow. Very disappointed. The initial call to ask for help thru their travel agency was an abrupt and curt gentleman. Later, my 80-year old father and I walked in to have the front desk gal take care of our needs- not the travel rep. She said she had no idea if their Euro exchange was more economical than at the hotel or airport. They tried to encourage us to use the AAA travel card, but we declined. Lastly, when we were told AAA had maps, we were directed to a table that SELLS maps. What is the $100/year fee for? I am a teacher of 30 years and found this particular establishment very unwelcoming and unclear. read more

I love how AAA is not-for-profit and gives me a dividend refund when I renew my policy every year. Friendly and fast. Huge parking lot. I got there right when they opened and I was out of there in 10 minutes. Wheelchair accessible. There are steps right when you get in if you park in the back. There is a working wheelchair lift right next to the steps. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked and worked well. No key needed. I was able to use it right away. Great service. So far, no luck. We got a postcard promoting cruises and offering NO website to view them, but a toll-free phone number. When calling the number, it asked for my zip code, then switched me to the Encino office (local to my home). Then I listened to a recorded message for a while, and eventually the machine took MY message, recording my name and phone number, and promised a same-day callback. Never happened. Today I looked at the web. The Encino office advertises hours of 10 to 6, but when calling their local phone number, the recording says 9 to 5. Huh? So I called after 10 to be safe. Again, got the machine and left my name and number. Do they really want to sell me a cruise??? Hmmm. .... Later: A travel agent called me back the next day and was very helpful arranging a cruise, which we eventually purchased through him. But until he connected with us, the overall impression of the office was quite poor. read more

CROOKED COMPANY!! We all know about Corp greed and how dishonest the big companies are. But this is so disappointing to someone that has had a policy with this company since 1982. I look over my bill and notice that my bill is higher this quarter. When I spoke to someone at AAA ( who was very sweet and professional) I just found out they (AAA) have been adding riders to my policy over the years to jack up my premiums and this is how they did it. Those greedy, sneaky little bastards just add it on and give you a total. You have a stack of bills you're paying and what do you do? Exactly what they know you will do, you look at the total and pay it and go to the next one. I have 3 riders added to my policy in past few years and one of them is a child rider. Well, only one problem, we don't have any children, never have. When I asked them about this they said I have to sign something to get the rider. So I asked for proof of signature or at least could you look at my signature and tell me you see it and I will believe you. Of course they can't pull that up. AAA is a HUGE disappointment, be careful with this BS company or they will rip you off as well!!!! read more
