Unfortunately, my $2,000.00 Mont Blanc briefcase was literally stolen out of my wife's vehicle on Christmas Eve - they through a brick through her back window... It was probably my most prized possession as an attorney. About one month later I received a call from a good samaritan who had found my briefcase on the side of the road (my business cards were still inside) and contacted me. Great news!!! The bad news, however, was the briefcase sat in the pouring rain on the side of the road for at least three nights of that month. Honest and informative. I had a favorite office chair that had worn around the edges and the seat and Mark told me that my chair was " made with a product called 'Bonded Leather' which is made of ground/powered leather particles (no more than 17%) combined with plastics and then heat pressed onto a backing. The 'leather' (not) is about .005" thick....or 5 one thousands of an inch thick. When this happens, what is happening to your chair, the bond between the pressed on goo and it's backing are separating. There is no way to restore this to it's former 'glory' Can it be made to look 'better? yes, but never 'as new' like real (non 'bonded') leather can. " The cost was reasonable to fix, much less than the price of the chair itself, but his honest opinion was it was not worth it because of the material used to make the chair, which made it impossible to restore to factory condition. Mark has done a fantastic job in restoring the damage to my new sofa. He was honest with me on how much I should expect from repair work. His work turned out to be beyond expectation. And his fees is very reasonable. The damage was caused by the acid from a cheap battery in the TV remote leaking onto the sofa surface of the armrest. Since I do not watch TV often, the TV remote was placed on the sofa armrest for weeks. By the time I saw the leak, it was way too late. Mark's skill is amazing in restoring it to an almost original condition. The color was a perfect match. There was one area that was badly damaged by the acid, exposing the rough leather grain. He smoothed it out and it is barely noticeable after the repair. I am very happy with the result and give it a total thumbs up. I found him in Yelp with a lot of good reviews. Since my repair is a small job for him and he is very busy, he pointed out that I might have to wait until he can free himself up. But it is definitely worth the wait. I contacted Mark about my restoring my two gray mid century danish leather chairs via email and he got back to me immediately with a reasonable quote for restoration. Brought them in to his shop a couple of days later and he was super friendly and personable. I was given a one week time frame, but he busted these beauties out in two days. When I came in to pick them up, I was blown away by how great they looked. He removed the skin oil from one, conditioned the leather, re-attached several buttons that had fallen off and left holes in the leather, re-dyed the leather and also re-padded the chairs. I was prepared to spend thousands of dollars actually resurfacing the entire desk in new leather, as I thought it had actually worn through the leather to the base. After a reasonable quote, Mark took my desk with him, and refinished it in a way that brought it back to the same luster and beauty it had on the day I bought it. I wish I could prevent everyone from working with him, but all I can do is this: I encourage you to NOT use him. He does promise to be able to do some work others cant (ie, dyeing my patent leather Ferragamo flats which did not work). Here is the date of all emails to him. 2 years ago I decided to rescue my fathers old 93 BMW 525i from the brink of junk land. After driving it home from the lot where It had been sitting slowly rotting away for the past 3 years, I looked at the the next morning in the light of day and had the sinking feeling that this was going to need an extreme makeover. Called Mark on a Monday, he came out on Tuesday. My leather couch, chaise, and recliner were just ruined with scratches from our dogs and I thought I might have to have them totally recovered. Mark told me that they were actually in great condition and that he could make them look like new. He picked them up (free pickup) the following Tuesday and delivered them back to me the following Wednesday (8 days later) and in fact they did look as good as new. He even stuffed the cushions in the recliner to puff it back up, no extra charge. I am so happy with the work he did, he was just so easy to work with and the results of his work are wonderful. Worked with Mark on a large couch and ottoman for re-dying. Great guy, great knowledge about leather and he even gave me a run down as to how the dying process works. The pick up of the couch was excellent, and would have been 5 stars. The problem arose when the couch was dropped off. I wanted the couch to match a recliner I got and it did not. I called, got chewed out, and was essentially told it was my fault. He eyeballed the color, did not take photos of the recliner, or even talk about taking a piece with him for matching. Every part of me wanted to give 1 star, but the couch is really well done, it just didnt match. It was just unfortunate that my opinion of the owner changed within 30 secs when he would "flip his s***" if he had the redye the couch because the customer was unhappy. The glove box in my car has part of the latching mechanism on the back of the door and unfortunately it got broken. After numerous attempts to find a replacement door (informed it's not manufactured anymore for my 2003 CL500 Mercedes) I was able to find a new replacement that was not the same color as the interior of my car and dashboard. It was mentioned to me that possibly I could buy the different colored one and have it dyed. I called Tandy Leather to find someone that dyed leather so I could find out what the possibilities were. Ron referred me to Mark at AAA Leather Repair. I contacted Mark and mentioned the situation and he informed me it may not be a leather material covering my glove box door and instead some type of plastic material. He told me that if the covering was plastic based, after being dyed, it was possible in time it would become sticky and therefore not a very good solution. Leather, no problem! When I got to his shop he looked at the door and informed me it wasn't leather which I wasn't happy to hear, this meant I wouldn't be able to buy the different colored door and have Mark dye it to match. Anyway, I still had the plastic support piece from the latch that had broken off on the inside of the door and Mark put it back in place and suggested we try to repair it. At this point I'm open to any possibility that would enable me to latch the door closed, so I agreed a repair was worth a try. Long story short, Mark went WAY "out of his way" and with his assistance we crafted an amazing patch (it looks as if it was manufactured for just this problem) that secured the latch back in place and I now have a functioning glove box door that is no longer hanging open. It was a pleasure meeting Mark and I was extremely impressed with his willingness to help me solve a problem I was running into dead in's with. Any person that is that talented, thoughtful, helpful, decent, conscientious and focused on something being done right, deserves more than the 5 Stars ('As good as it gets!') since Mark is even "better than it gets"!!! Mark, the owner, is quite a craftsman who "under promises and over delivers." I know that sounds like I'm his marketing guy, but I'm not. My wife and I took a leather chair in this past week that had a couple of small tears and the leather was peeling because I had read other reviews on YELP. Mark told us he could "fix" the chair in a week or so but advised us he was not sure how long the "fix" would last--6 days, 6 months or 6 years. As we already had four others that went with the dining set, we asked him to do his best. In less than a week's time, Mark called to tell me the chair was ready. Not only was it ready, it looked brand new! We were pleasantly surprised when he told us when we picked the chair up that he thought it worked out better than he originally anticipated and thought the repair would last a long time. Also, I need to say that Mark is very personable and a pleasure to talk to. He is funny, has great stories and loves to listen to classic rock music while he works--my kind of person!
