I'd like to make this rating 4 1/2 stars, as my experience was very good, but not quite 5 stars. Maybe 4.75 stars. I'll always round up in favor of actual customer service. I've had my Hein Gericke jacket for over 28 years, and have ridden about 140,000 miles while wearing it. The collar and one cuff were split, and some snaps were tired. Like another reviewer, I'd seen Anthony's ad in American Motorcyclist magazine, and was aware that they had a good reputation. I shipped my jacket off, and when I got it back I found two small disappointments, involving snaps on the neck and one cuff. After phone conversations and e-mails with Greg, I shipped it back, and got it back the second time with a refreshingly brief turnaround time. In addition to the factory-quality repairs (above info does not list alI work), I had Anthony's sew on a patch for me (for a reasonable extra fee), and clean and condition my old friend. It's now shiny, which was unexpected (an observation, not a complaint). I mentally deducted part of a star from my rating because of the need to send the jacket twice, but added back on part of a star for conscientious and friendly customer service. One small surprise: as a second back-and-forth shipping became necessary, I wondered whether Leatherworks might create a UPS return slip, as a former employer of mine always did for such situations. I'm not actually disappointed, as I'm aware that small businesses don't have unlimited budgets. The work was not inexpensive, but being able to wear a high-quality and well-loved garment for another couple of decades (if I last that long) is worth it. Accepting the cost was eased after I compared the purchasing power of the 1997 dollars with which I bought my jacket to that of the 2026 repair dollars. It was worth it. read more

I've had Anthony's sew patches on many jackets over the years and have always been so impressed with their work. They've also refurbished many leather bags for my wife and daughter. I really wanted to like this place -- the customer service was wonderful when we first walked in. The staff were friendly and professional, and I felt confident leaving my very expensive handbag in their care. I was quoted $175 for what was described as a simple refresh of the leather and color, which sounded fair for a quality restoration. But when I picked up the bag, I was honestly heartbroken by the result. The pigment was smeared and stuck all over the hardware, which hadn't been polished or cleaned at all. The color on the leather was patchy, with uneven tones and visible blemishes. What used to be smooth, soft leather now feels rough and sandy, almost like it was stripped instead of restored. It also looks like no waterproofing or protective finish was applied. I don't doubt that they do excellent work on shoes and smaller leather items, but based on my experience, I wouldn't trust them again with a high-end handbag. For the price and the promise, this was a huge disappointment. read more

the best of the best! My old CHP Jacket from Just Leathers in San Jose has seen over 24 years and many miles with me. The seams were starting to go, the zipper, the liner. I was worried my old friend was close to being retired. I saw an ad in the back of AMA Magazine for Anthony's Leatherworks, some AFM pals of mine have used them before. I thought, what the heck, might as well. Speaking to Greg at Anthony's? I felt they would put in the work and care on my jacket as if it was their own. When I got it back, WOW. just wow. From "may need to be retired" to "I can wear this 20 more years". Not gonna kid, you, they ain't cheap. As the saying goes: Good work ain't cheap and Cheap work ain't good. I was excited to try this place. Had some leather work done and the wait time was crazy, the delay time after my order wasn't received on the date quoted to me was terrible as was the professionalism and communication. Not the friendliest and extremely over priced, pretty dissatisfied with my experience here. I realize I should of read reviews in advance because there's plenty about the long waits, rude staff, excuses and poor quality and lots of ownership responses that take zero accountability. All out seems like a poorly ran company that gouges its customers with terrible dissatisfying work. I expected better. Seems hit or miss with this company on whether you'll have a good experience again. For the price and quality of work done here. I'd never return to this shop again just not worth it. You can find poor quality work with better customer service for half the price just about anyplace is better than this shop. Customers beware of this one. So when "Greg" finally responds to a review yet again Greg takes no Accountability for my review. As I have noticed with each review they basically all have the same complaint and it's basically always the customers fault and Greg can't recall the issue. Lol come on man, you and that store are a joke. Greg charged me an insane amount of money to put in two cheap zippers that don't even function properly and missed the completion deadline several times so I didn't have the vest either time it was guaranteed and needed it for an event and had rude snappy comments about how it wasn't his fault the vest wasn't complete and he couldn't make someone come to work. Blah blah blah.... And more excuses. Come on Greg own up to your crappy expensive service, misquoted prices and piss poor attitude it wouldn't be the first review about it, there's dozens of reviews about your poor attitude and everything else I listed so don't play dumb Greg. Anthony's did an amazingly disappointing job of repairing my vintage '84 Schott Perfecto. They were to have fixed the ends of the sleeves, which a previous worker had wrecked by making too bulky and using weak leather. When describing this job to Anthony's, I specified that the thin leather was a concern for me. (The jacket is made of heavy steerhide.) After paying both ways for shipping cross country--which I would've been fine with if the work had been good--I was shocked to find the leather used not even close to the old, heavy stuff. It's thin, and poorly finished, like vinyl. I called and was told this is their standard leather (!). If true, just be aware, fellow riders, that their "standard" doesn't even come close to 1980s-era quality. Additionally, the type of stitch used at the ends will make the sleeves very liable to fray. The high cost, despite my AMA discount, in no way reflects the quality of work performed. The only circumstances I'd even mildly suggest a rider go to Anthony's is if you're local and can get them to show you exactly the materials they plan to use. The material and workmanship on my jacket were a complete disappointment, especially for the price. ---------- EDIT: Adding photos. The white background one shows the state I sent it to the shop in. Note the end of the cuff is rolled over, a professional touch even though the end was too large. (As mentioned above, Anthony's did fix that.) The shot of just the sleeve end shows Anthony's stitching leaves unfinished leather at the exposed end of the cuff, which gets a lot of wear. The third pic clearly shows that the double thickness of leather Anthony's used at the cuff is barely as thick as a single layer of the original! The lapel is shown, and note how both sides of the lapel are also rolled in to avoid frays. This material and workmanship isn't even close to original Schott quality. read more

Does not listen, poor quality & rude customer service! I took my Chloe handbag to Anthony's to replace one piece of hardware on the back of the strap that kept popping loose. I specifically asked the owner if he had hardware that matched the bag hardware and he said yes. He asked if I wanted a second piece of hardware at the front of the strap replaced and I said no. He marked only the one piece of hardware that I wanted replaced with tape. Today I went to pick up my bag and not only does the color of the hardware not match the bag hardware (yellow gold vs bronze gold), but the hardware he used is also larger and not the right size. In addition, the owner said he "made a judgment call" and replaced the hardware on the front of my strap - that I specifically told him NOT to replace - with the larger yellow gold hardware. The icing on the cake is he says he threw away my original hardware and I cannot get it back. He said he was getting agitated because I kept repeating that I was not happy with what I paid for, and he said giving me a refund wouldn't get my hardware back so he refused to give me a refund. I cannot believe they are in business if the owner does not listen to customers, he provides such poor quality of work, and he is so rude when they make mistakes! read more

This shop is a joke. They tell you everything they are going to do . Get payment in full and then it's months before you hear anything out of them. Then In a well or so they complete said work. You go to pick it up and the do somthing totally different and pick and chose what they will not do because they have already been payed . I wish I could show you a picture of there product. I should have read all these awful reviews before wasting my time driving here. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was treated poorly by the RUDE owner. I called ahead to see if they could clean a leather jacket and some boots. His response was "well yeah this is CDM" all sassy. I decided to go anyways. I get there and he quotes me an INSANE amount of money to get the jacket cleaned, and shine some boots up. He also insisted he put heels on a boot that I didn't want or request. I took back my boots and jacket and decided to leave one pair to get cleaned. The jacket has mold on it and he threw my protective covering away. I asked for it back and he watched me struggle to put it back on. I got it on and asked him if I could please wash my hands with soap and water being I am pregnant. He tosses over the hand sanitizer so I can smear it all over. Then he says to me very rudely, " I can't believe your husband is making you do this". How RUDE!!!!!!! So a nice customer told me where I could wash my hands down the way as the owner refused to. I left and half way home decided that this business doesn't deserve one cent from me. I drove back and got my boots back and I asked to speak to the owner. Well guess who that was?? Greg the jerk who helped me in the beginning. I told him I didn't appreciate how he treated me as a customer and he should learn some customer service skills. He then went off and said I was calling him names. I didn't know referring to him as RUDE was name calling. I then demanded my money back and warned him of this review. He said I have you recorded!!! I said perfect then everyone can see how you treat customers. I got my money back then decided to call him an A hole since I was being accused of name calling anyways. DO NOT SUPPORT this man. I have alway likes this jacket but the fit was horrible. Rather than buy another jacket I decided to have Anthony's tailor it and I am so glad I did. The arms and should were perfect but the lower torso was just too baggy for for a motorcycle jackets. They measured me and the outcome is excellent. My jacket now fits like a glove how a motorcycle jacket should. I looked everywhere on the inside and out to see where they cut it open, but even upon close inspection you just cant tell they did such a good job. I am such a happy customer and would recommend them to anyone. They were very polite and kept me updated. First time customer, but hope to return. read more

$160 for the tailoring of two leather jacket sleeves. An outrageous price but thought it would be worth it for one of my favorite jackets. They sewed the leather in the incorrect color thread and their response to my question for having various colors of thread on hand was, "we would have go drive to fine something to match." Poor service and even worse craftsmanship. You be the judge on the uploaded photos. If you care about your leather goods, find another tailor who prides themselves on their work. I promise you that they will not be employed here. --- After reading the review response, I will add to the post that the second alteration was due to the fact that they did not complete the original alteration in its entirety. It is misleading and false. It was only one job and many visits to the shop to have it completed correctly... so whatever you call it now. There is truth in the fact that I didn't not have a chance to look at the thread color as the work was incorrect and not as agreed to. I get the 'kill them with kindness kind of response' but that doesn't not hide the fact that their closest match for their tailoring is grey to brown. That is a first for tailoring in my book. IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS COMMENT BELOW: He said everything that and acted as I had stated below. He was outrageous and undeniable rude and belittling. I came in to drop them off and only came in once more after I saw the damage. He agreed to refund $30 that shouldn't have been charged in the first place. But we asked replacement cost for the shoes for the further damage the business caused. His employee there that day was very kind to me and I appreciate him. Greg (owner) On the other hand, was out of line. As I stated below, I could've understood them not getting the stain out, but had the video and photos show, his business completely ruined the boots beyond repair. And apparently I'm not the only one to experience his arrogance and unjustifiable excuses for ruining personal products. ORIGINAL REVIEW: If I could give negative stars, I would. And I don't say that lightly. I brought a pair of expensive suede shoes in to get a stain out that had occurred the night before. Upon coming in, they promised that not only would the stain be cleaned, but that the textured suede would remain in prime condition that I've kept them in since owning them. When I went to pick them up, the stain was not only worse, but the suede was completely destroyed and they still had the audacity to charge my friend who picked them up for me! On top of that, one of their employees took my number from my order to personally flirt and harass me uninvitingly ("let's relieve some of that work stress"). Completely inappropriate! When I confronted the owner about the shoes and asked for a replacement cost, he basically laughed in my face and made a fool out of me in front of the store. He justified ruining them by saying "well you brought them in ruined with the stain." Mind you, the stain was one streak across one shoe and I could've lived with it. But he made the suede irreparable and completely rubbed off the entire textured snake print on them. If you look at the shoes, the texture is not only gone but the suede is fuzzy from being rubbed too hard. When I placed them in my lap, suede was literally falling off the $200 boots and onto my leggings. Then I had brought up how his employee was inappropriately texting me by taking my number from the system, he told me it was a personal problem and not his to deal with. I have pictures of before and after. The before was just a few months ago zoomed in and you can see c clearly the clean, snake print on them still. I have also attached a screen shot from the employee, Mario, who took the liberty of rudely assuming my interest in him instead of asking like a normal person. Point is I am now taking this to small claims, which I've never felt the need to do before. Don't ever go here unless you want to be talked down to for being a young woman or if you want your leather destroyed. Trying to post photos and a video as an example. Will upload ASAP. read more

My wife and son bought me a new Dainese suit for my bday. Once I received it I found out their suits fit a bit different than prior year models. My new suit needed to be more form fitting in the legs as they're meant to have boots worn on the inside. My Sidi boots are the opposite and worn on the outside. I found Anthony's through Revzilla and took my suit in for alterations. A week and a half later the suit was ready and all I can say is wow... amazing work. The legs fit perfect and the quality of the work is like it came from Dainese. Why spend thousand for a custom tailored suit when you can but a generic size and have it custom fitted to your body for less!? Great work Anthony's! Thank you for your help. read more

What a great experience. Needed a zipper repaired on a Alpinestars suit in one week and Anthony's not only did great work, but fast!!

Very easy process. I dropped by on a Monday and it was a quick in and out. The zipper on my leather motorcycle jacket had stopped zipping up and the lady at the front was able to tell me exactly what needed to be replaced. She quoted me $30 and 1 week to change out the zipper slider. Kind of expensive for such a small piece, and I'm sure I would've been able to get it done much cheaper somewhere else, but I was already there and I didn't know beforehand what needed to be done. Went back exactly a week later. I'd forgotten the tag but no biggie, they were able to pull up my record, find my jacket and I was on my way. They'll give you 10% off if you tell them CycleGear sent you! The shop is located on the corner of PCH and Marigold Ave, on the southbound side of PCH. There's street parking out front, but I didn't see any lot parking. read more

I had some work done on a Vanson jacket. I needed my main zipper replaced. I'm a daily rider so I don't like giving up my jacket, but I timed it with some work travel. I shipped the jacket there and they shipped it back when they were done. I called them on the phone because I forgot to mention that the wrist zipper was also broken and would they please fix that as well. The good: They did an excellent job on replacing the zipper and coordinating timely shipping. The bad: -They replaced my black zipper on my black jacket with a big ole shiny gold one. -They told me they tested the wrist zipper and it was fine, but when I got it back it was clearly still split in the middle of the zipper, just like I sent it. I guess I'm happy they did not replace that with a gold colored zipper... I was not happy about the mismatch zipper color and missed wrist zipper. If I did not have to use my jacket daily I would have considered sending it back. Big picture, I would use them again because the quality of installation was very well done. read more

Finally getting around to writing my review from my experience years ago. Price was as expected, it's not cheap but they're altering motorcycle leathers, you know those things that save your skin when you're sliding across asphalt. Price paid was price quoted and he even honored my Yelp check in discount! He said my alterations on my 2 piece Alpine Stars track suit would be done in X amount of time, I didn't plan my track day well enough and dropped it off only a week before like an idiot but he made special arrangements to have them ready for my track day! That's called customer service! Not the warm and fuzzy kind of staff but they were strait forward and even made a recommendation for altering that I didn't even think of based on his experience with moto leathers. If you're looking for "cheap" repairs by someone who will hug you and ask how the kids are doing this is not your shop but if you just want your sh*t done right then go here. I was referred by my boss who has used them for moto boot and leather repair/alteration for over 10 years. He doesn't Yelp, in fact he doesn't Internet at all so I'll speak for him and say 10 years of loyalty says it all. 4 stars for sucky parking and dealing with "CDM" personalities while in the area. ALSO! I lowsided twice, once at 45 and another around 80mph wearing the 2 piece he altered and mated the top to bottom zippers, the only part of the leathers that were affected were the factory Alpinestars seams, his altered areas and mated zipper weren't affected AT ALL. read more

I had my leather jacket altered there about a year ago. Because of our warm weather, I've only worn it several times. I recently noticed the zipper was coming undone - it had been glued in, not stitched. I took it in today and the grumpy old man behind the counter claimed that they couldn't have possibly done the work, but would fix it for a fee. I was appalled that they wouldn't take responsibility for their work and suggested that it must have been done by the shoemaker up the street. From beginning to end, I am very impressed with the service I received from Anthony's. Greg is very friendly, professional and polite. The repairs done to my Dainese suit were above and beyond what I expected- I can't tell that it was just through a season of abuse. When my "accident" happened, I was so mad at myself because I figured my Dainese suit literally gave up it's hide to save mine and will never look or function the same again. Wrong. Greg talked me through the entire process, even without actually seeing the suit- only going by what I told him on the phone and the pictures I sent- and he assured me it wasn't a big deal and certainly not beyond their capabilities to fix. Once I sent him my suit and he could see for himself, there were no surprises. In fact, Greg made a couple of recommendations (no pressure) that I agreed were probably worth doing while he had the suit for my piece of mind for next season. Finding quality craftsmen in our sport isn't always easy, but I will gladly send my suits across country to Anthony's in the future. In fact, it was Dainese that referred me to Anthony's. Searched the internet for the "go to" leather repair and found Anthony's. I turned in my dad's 1970s era Navy leather G-1 flight jacket to replace both wool knit cuffs and waistband (nibbled away by moths) as well as add a couple of squadron patches on the first week of October. The price was good, but the workmanship was amazing! It looks as if they magically replaced the cuff and waistband without even taking out a stitch! To top it off, they didn't just slap on a couple of insignia patches on the shoulders and chest areas; they took time to take apart the inside oxford nylon lining to perform the sewing onto the leather and then closed it up again. They promised they could fix my motorcycle leather one piece suit from the crash damage it had, and dye the leather for me and it would look good, but they were wrong... It looks FANTASTIC. I still can't believe this was the same suit I gave them two weeks ago. Just blown away. The main zipper on my Dainese jacket had broken. I was not comfortable with the local leather repairs ability to replace it nicely so I reached out to the Dainese store but learned that Dainese does not do repairs but had referred me to Anthony's Leatherworks. I promptly contacted them to arrange a repair. They were very nice and returned my calls and emails so communications was great. I received my jacket back in the expected time frame and was really happy to see that the jacket was just as I sent it but with a working zipper. It was exactly like it was from the factory. I would definitely contact them first for any future repairs. Price was also reasonable. Thanks guys!
