My name is Paul L and I have been a member of AAA since 2006 and have the Premier plan. On Saturday, July 1, at approximately 12:30 pm, my car's engine light came on while I was on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester MA so I stopped the car and parked safely. I am a Senior citizen who is in a sensitive group, and had to wait in sunny, 80-degree humid heat. for five and a half hours for a tow from AAA. The air quality on Saturday was ranked as unhealthy in Worcester county due to smoke from Canadian wildfires according to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. During the course of my miserable wait, I watched not one, but two, AAA flatbed trucks drive down Shrewsbury St empty. The following is the timeline I endured on Saturday: 12:32 pm - Called my auto technician who told me to have the car towed to him. 12:48 - Called AAA to request a tow from 225 Shrewsbury St Worcester MA. I was told that the tow would arrive between 2 and 2:30. I expected some delay. 1:39 I called to verify. and was on phone for 10 min because they put me on hold to check with the driver. I was told the driver would arrive soon. 2:54 I called and was on phone for 10 min because they put me on hold to check with the driver. I was told the driver was finishing up his tow, that I was his next stop and was coming in about 20 Min. 3:56 Received call from AAA checking to see if I got the tow. I had not and expressed my displeasure. I was very courteous to the agent. 5:03 I called to find out where the tow was. I was on phone for 7 min because they put me on hold to check with the driver. I was told the driver was finishing up and the tow was coming in about 20 Min. I was very aggravated by now but was cordial to the agent. 6:10 AAA Northeast flatbed arrived. The driver, John L, said he was on a call in Hudson MA and had received the request to tow me at approximately 5:40 pm. He informed me that he came directly from Hudson. I have two Major complaints with my AAA Premiere membership and will not be renewing it. Since Covid started about 2.5 years ago service has been horrible for me and my daughter Today I called at 9am for service as my I was having trouble starting car. I was told AAA would meet me in about 1 hour. I waited an hour in frigid cold (I live in CT and it's very very cold today) After an hour I called and was told to wait 20 minutes as the service rep was finished with a jump-start. I called again 20 minutes later and told he would arrive in 30 minutes and was on his way. At 11:10am I called AAA again and was told the rep should see me in about 45 minutes. At that point it was nearing 3 hours and I had enough. The Rep obviously was not going to be reliable and I had been waiting going on 3 hours. There is no excuse for this. AAA used to have many trucks available and locally but no more and getting service is not reliable anymore My Premiere membership is very expensive too. I finally called and cancelled the service call and let the rep know my displeasure with AAA (I was polite and realized its not her fault) But told her I will not renew anymore after decades as a member. About 4 months ago my daughter could not start her car at her address. She called AAA and was told she did NOT have towing which is 100% false. We have Premiere and do have towing. We called 3x and was told each call she did not have towing and she needed her car towed to our local mechanic 10 miles away - which also is only a short distance to work so if AAA had arrived they could have towed her AND given her a ride to the mechanic and she could have got to work. Instead she was unable to get a tow and this caused a great disruption in her day. No Excuse AAA.... I called AAA later that day and demanded a reason AAA refused to tow her and was told a "Data Processing IT error caused the issue" and would be corrected. Did AAA even call her or me back to apologize or offer even minimal compensation? NOTHING....So I will not be renewing my membership in 2023. AAA has gone way way down hill IMO since Covid. In my town of Putnam CT AAA used to use the Shell station for AAA but stopped a few years ago...so now it seems that they use only a few trucks over the entire state and it can take hours to get service. I am extremely disappointed and have been an AAA member for decades. AAA also removed the free dead battery replacement for Premiere members...but did they lower the membership price or add any other perks? Nada.... read more

I am disgusted! I had called for a flat tire to replaced with my spare and specified on each call that a lug nut tire iron was needed to remove my spare from the undercarriage of my vehicle. They came out to service my vehicle, and all four times, they could not change my flat tire! I spent several hours trying to get something as simple as a flat tire to be replaced with my spare. tire, and all four times the company that came to replace it, could not, simply because they did not have a lug nut wrench tire iron! These are universal and are not specific to any type of vehicle and are used for tire changing. How does a company claim they can replace a flat tire with a spare tire, and not have a very simple tire changing tool that is needed to do so! On the last call, the service company representative called me and refused to come out to replace my flat tire with a spare, claiming that I needed to go to the dealership to get the flat changed because they do not have a tire iron wrench! The woman was extremely rude and confrontational, as if it was my fault that they didn't have a tire wrench? She refused to hear that all I needed was a lug nut tire iron wrench, telling me only the dealership of where I purchased my vehicle would have a universal lug nut tire wrench! How do they not have a proper tool to change the tire! How does someone justify they cannot change a flat tire simply because they don't have a proper tire changing tool! I am sick to my stomach over this. I spent over 8 hours initially trying to get my flat tire fixed, going back and forth with company representatives, and now two days later, which is today, I still have a flat tire, even though I have a spare that is available to be used. How does a company not have proper tire changing tools! All that is needed is a lug nut wrench tire iron! How can a company not have the capacity to remove a spare from an undercarriage of a vehicle when it is a universal wrench that can be used on any vehicle! I have the rest of the parts to remove the spare tire from the undercarriage, but the woman refused to listen to me, and then after four times of coming out for service because each time they did not have the proper tool, they refused to service my vehicle. I have the AAA service because they claim they can change flat tires and replace with my spare tire , but yet they CANNOT! This is ridiculous. What kind of roadside assistance company cannot do such a simple task. I am a nervous wreck over this and still am at a loss! Having to deal with the RMV/DMV is never at the top of the list of things people enjoy doing. That said, when I realized my driver's license was up for renewal in a couple of months, the thought of having to deal with the Mass RMV/DMV was nauseating. Complicating matters, I was eligible to renew it online, but with the whole Real ID thing now in play, I'd be forced to go to an RMV/DMV branch since I wanted the Real ID credential. I researched online on what documents I needed to prove my identity. That wasn't too bad, surprisingly, as I'm the type of person that's obnoxiously organized and had all the preferred documents and then some. Even easier, I was able to fill out the application online and print it out so I could walk into the RMV/DMV, documents and application in hand, and hopefully be in and out quick. Still, the thought of going to the local RMV/DMV branch and standing in line, waiting, didn't appeal to me. I was cleaning out my wallet recently and glimpsed my Triple A membership card. I suddenly remembered Triple A offers some RMV/DMV services. I looked at their website and saw that they do license renewals, including the Real ID credential. Perfect! I've been a Triple A member for over 20 years and while I have used the roadside assistance/towing more often than I'd like to admit, I always forget about the other perks like RMV/DMV transactions. The local AAA office near me recently relocated from the building next to the Leominster Village Plaza (Men's Warehouse, Starbucks, etc) to the Water Tower Plaza right near Ocean State Job Lot and Michael's. Ironically, the RMV/DMV branch is literally a 5 minute drive around the corner. I gathered my documents and made my way to the Water Tower Plaza. Parking is always ample there, so I easily found a spot near the front. When I walked in, I was amazed and how bright, clean, open, and well-laid out the office was! Once in the doors, the line forms to the left. There's different "stations" clearly labeled: Insurance/Travel, Membership, they even take passport photos! (Side note: I recently renewed my passport and would have gone here had I known for the pictures!) There weren't many people in line (most were being helped or browsing the information area over by the seating area), but I followed the signs anyway. Within seconds, a young lady named Tara from near the registry/license transaction station called for me to come over. She asked how she could help. I explained I was looking to renew my license. She then asked if I had my AAA card and existing license, both of which I handed over to her. As she pulled up my information, she asked if I wanted a standard license or a Real ID. I said the latter. Not missing a beat, she asked if I had the required docs: Tara: Something with your Social Security Number on it. Me: I have my SS card and most recent W2 form. Tara: Oh! The card is fine. Tara: Great! Ok, how about a passport or certified birth certificate? Me: I have both. Tara: I'll take 'em! Note: If your passport was issued or renewed in the last year or so, you'll need another form like a certified birth certificate. Tara: And now, two forms of proof of residency? Me: I have a mortgage statement and a utility bill. Oh, I also have an application pre-filled out too. Tara seemed very pleased I had all the documents needed as well as the application. I can just imagine the amount of people who don't have all the needed info. After the picture, vision test, and all my documents were scanned, I paid my $50 fee. Tara through out it all was so nice, pleasant, and very efficient. The experience could not have been better! She gave me all my documents back and a receipt in short order. I was there for probably 20-25 minutes total. Talk about a time-saver! Had I'd gone to the RMV/DMV, it'd be over an hour I'm sure, and the interaction not as fun and pleasant. The office, location, and service was top-tier. If you are a Triple A member and need RMV/DMV services that cannot be done online and want to avoid the hassle, I can't recommend going to this Triple A branch enough! They don't do all RMV/DMV transactions, but they do about 90% of what people would need. read more

It was the best AAA experience I've ever had. I mistakenly locked my car key inside the car on a chilly rainy day. I called AAA, they asked to verify my information and I easily went on to the website to view my membership number. I was told that a driver would arrive within a 45 minute timeframe but, I would be sent a text message with a link to track the progress of the driver. I used it and to my surprise, they were only minutes away. When he arrived he quickly did the job and I was in my car in no time. He was so polite and kind. I greatly appreciated it. read more

Called for a tow and was told I would be waiting two hours was bad enough but then three hours later no truck no update and I had to jump thru hoops to reach anyone who knew anything for them just to tell me sorry, it's gonna be another hour the company is switching shifts. I have been a AAA member for over 25 years. My dad who recently passed was probably with AAA for 50. When my dad passed last year I put $2,000 into his Cadillac to keep it on the road in his honor. In June of this year AAA how truck driver towing the car put a hole in the oil pan essentially totaling the car. Accidents happen. This is totally understandable. The service I got from AAA since the accident was totally not understandable. I spoke with a representative once in mid-july and despite calling them three or four timesa week since then try to get a settlement I received no communication from the customer service department until I got a letter in the beginning of September that stated they would give me $850 the value for the car and that I should cash this check to settle. Beside being very disappointed that I was never returned a phone call to have a conversation about the higher amounts I put into it, was that there was actually no check in the envelope with the letter. AAA also never paid my mechanic for any storage for the entire two months plus that has been at his garage in Ayer Massachusetts. I just learned that today and that the check was delivered to a business next to my mechanic in Ayer called Hunter Appliance. This check was for eight hundred fifty dollars and did not settle anyting for my mechanic ( or for me considering the situtaion). After 25 years being a member at AAA it is hard to put into words the disappointment that not only did they ruin my dad's car but their level of responsibility, communication , and moral values were and appear to be close to zero. read more

I Have my business insurance with AAA Northeast. I was notified of Non-renewal from Hartford Insurance by AAA agency at the end of may. (They don't cover some of the services my company now does.) My agent Emma Pickering notified me at that time, that we have plenty of time to find another carrier. After 2 months of emails asking for them to reissue a policy, I was told the "Underwriters are looking" and they would get a new policy out to me. Fast forward to the last 3 weeks, I now get an email from Diana Otero at AAA. She says the underwriters can not verify my website, and I actually had Go Daddy correct an SSL problem. (Website corrected the same day as I was notified.) Now we are at 1 week prior to expiration, and I email Diana noting I will file a complaint that the agency has ignored my emails, phone calls and requests. I receive a phone call the next day, and I was told the underwriters are looking into it, and I will have a policy in place. Today is now my last day prior to expiration, and I am now forced to find a policy from another agent, due to their lack of response, detail, and professionalism. I have been lied to, and discarded from this agency, and their lack of attention is horrible. I am a business owner who was told they would take care of my reissue, and they failed on multiple levels. Now I am having extreme difficulty finding a carrier that writes my type of company voluntarily, and may have a lapse in coverage which will force my rates much higher. read more

Secondly I chose them for my drivers license.On line I started my license at one point it stopped me and told me the documents I would need to get my real license. I have been a member of AAA Northeast for many years. On 11/29/2022 at approximtely 2:45 PM, I had to call for a tow for my Chevy Silverado truck which had a snow plow on it. The dispatcher told me that AAA would not be able to tow it because of the plow but if I had another towing company take care of me that I would be reimbursed in full. I did have another tow company and it cost $130. I called to find out where I could send the bill and the lady gave me their address in Providence, RI and she also told me the bill would be reimbursed even though the truck had a snow plow attached. When I mailed in the bill I received a letter from Beth Stanton of ISP Payment Processing that it was not reimbursable. I called her (401) 868-2000) to explain that both the dispatcher as well as the lady we called for the mailing address that it was reimbursable. She referred me to a Mary Ann Farrow (extension 2274) to obtain an audio of the conversation. After an initial conversation with her, I never heard back from her and she is ignoring my messages when I try to call. AAA Northeast is not a good customer service company. read more

AAA is good at its core mission of providing roadside assistance. Those services that involve a cost, such as battery replacement, are reasonably priced except for towing. Response times are good and the technicians are professionals who know what they are doing. If you need a tow make sure you paid extra for the premium plan or they will only take you 3 miles without a significant increase. Insurance is cheaper than anywhere else, but it can be hard to get information over the phone. Every time you call you get someone different. It is easiest to go to the branch in person. The people skills of staff there (making eye contact with you, asking if they can help you) vary but the information is correct. Payments taken at the branch are posted promptly, but the back office in Providence is very slow at processing renewals, and the call center there does not follow up on things when they promise to. The identity theft monitoring is minimal only including one bureau unless you pay extra. I enjoy the magazine and have found a few new places to visit from it. The partnership with Hertz is not valuable. You can get a better deal at Alamo even though they don't have a AAA discount. I have saved on hotels though. Overall the discounts especially on insurance make the membership pay for itself on my case. Update: I am taking away a star as service is lacking at this service industry business. I stopped by the branch. No one was in line and there were 5 employees talking amongst themselves. Finally someone offered to help me. I made a simple request to do what I have done in years past, pay my auto insurance bill for the year in full with a physical check and get a receipt. I was passed from person to person. They kept trying to get me to agree to let them enter my banking information in their system where it could be hacked. I went home and dealt with the insurance company directly. An agent should make things easier not more difficult for the customer. read more

I went to the new location today and was very very disappointed! Branch Manager needs a attitude adjustment!! Apparently she doesn't like her job so she should step aside and let someone else step in. Very confusing as to which way to go to sign in and for customer service. Another customer waiting his turn was directing people as they came in because they didn't know where to go and at NO time did the employees help including The Branch Manager. The customer directing people on where to go spoke to the Branch Manager suggesting the sign in front of customer service probably should give more directions and she began to raise her voice at him and me saying " people in general have no clue where to go" as if we are all stupid. I'm thinking there are many other insurance companies I can go to I just might have to look into it. I certainly don't need anyone belittling me while talking my money. When I called the AAA's toll free number to inquire about the next closest office, the person took my zip code and told me Leominster, MA. I told her there is no longer an office there. She told me I must be at the wrong location. I told her I'm looking inside office and it is abandoned. She said, "well that's news to me". Not on top of things at AAA. read more
