I have to admit, I absolutely LOVE AAA, and this AAA in particular. After I was faced with the cruel, harsh reality that is the RI DMV, I joined AAA and have never, ever (not once) looked back. If you've ever waited all day, or a few hours, or even just 30 minutes at the DMV, you need to get with the program and join AAA. I went in to get my license renewed, and was awe-struck by their efficiency and demeanor. Kindness! Humor! Quickness! I was in and out with a brand new license to drive within 15 minutes - for real. A joy, I tell you. Not only can you get your license renewed (and your photo taken, to boot) but they do all the other special AAA things you want, too. Like, fix a flat or give you a tow when peril suddenly and unexpectedly strikes. They towed me and my sadness off of 93 in the Williams Tunnel one cold, dark January night and drove me all the way back to PVD in the driving snow. That's love, people. Straight up love. read more

literally waited outside with a 3 year old for THREE hours on a tow from AAA. IN 30 degree weather! While I was waiting I saw a AAA battery truck and asked him if he was here to tow my car & as he was helping another woman he asked where my tow was for me. He [cameron g] thankfully told me that he can switch my tow to an unattended pickup because I had been waiting so long. So I PAID him for the extra miles to tow my car to the mechanics and we scheduled the pick up as such and I go home with my ride. I wake up to find out my car was not at the mechanics and was actually NEVER picked up from my job where my car wouldn't stop. So I called AAA and spoke Angel to see why the car was never picked up lastnight ? If I knew it was never going to get picked up I wouldn't have waited for 3 hours for AAA to arrive especially with a 3 year old. & I also would have never paid. I was put on a long hold with Angel. When he came back on he told me that he had spoken with her supervisor and was told to have me contact membership relations and that they could help me? I asked to speak to the supervisor NAMED LYNN & she refused a to get on the phone. Instead I was told to contact that number or go to that location and do the same exact thing I did the night before and call AAA. Never in my life have I had to beg to talk to a supervisor to understand the situation. Even to get the supervisors name out of Angel was like pulling teeth he kept telling me to contact that number. A "supervisor" that refuses to pick up the phone DOES NOT NEED TO BE A SUPERVISOR. How do you lead? What's the point of a leadership role if your not even willing to do your job. Let alone even trying to understand someone else's situation that the company YOU work for put them in. After I hung up with Angel after he was no help & Lynn refuses to pick up the phone I called the same number again just to speak to someone else. I got a woman this time. She put me on a brief hold to contact the dispatcher to see why it was never picked up. After she had me on hold she told me that the computers want down that night and they had to go manual & my order just simply got lost in paperwork. I wish I knew this woman's name because she was so good. Lol But after that phone call with Angel & "supervisor" Lynn I'm pretty sure I'll never call AAA again. I'd rather pay the money for a random tower to come and tow my car. Going through AAA brought on more issues and complications when they were unnecessary to begin with. read more

Nightmare. Service? While in line to renew my license, was pulled out by an expeditious employee because I "had to fill out a form". Wouldn't you know, after waiting in line again, was informed that it was the incorrect form. After waiting in line a third time was told that their system was down. An additional 45 minutes - I was already there and the hologrammed rectangle in my wallet was about to expire. After nearly 2 hours in their fluorescent dungeon, I finally received my ID. Gee, I was sure glad I took the time to grow and maintain a creepy mustache (specifically for the license picture) only to have the joke wear off before I was ever able to put it to use. If wasting time and incompetence are your thing, come on down, they're off of Silver Spring. read more

Avoid the DMV! Get your license renewed here. It was so easy! I was in and out in minutes. I love AAA. I picked up some discount tickets while I was there too. Word to the wise- Paw Sox tickets expire at the end of the season- so don't forget to use all of your comps before the season is over. The discount movie tickets for any Showcase cinema do not expire though so save yourself a couple bucks a ticket! I'd also just like to comment that if you have AAA- Don't forget to use it. I can't believe the number times people I know end up changing their own flat tires or getting out the jumper cables. One roadside service and your membership more than pays for itself. That's my plug. Pretty sure AAA should pay me for my kind words, but I'll accept continued prompt and helpful service instead. Had AAA Insurance for almost 20 years then I got apartment insurance they were a great company. I never had an accident I paid all my premiums on time I was in a minor fender-bender two months ago I paid my $500 deductible, a month later I got a bill for 1,257.00 for 6 months of insurance to continue for 3 years. My neighbor had his truck towed by AAA. While dropping off the truck to his house the AAA driver drove onto my lawn, caused extensive damage to my lawn and made a hole in my pvc fence with his truck. My neighbor reported the incident to AAA and notified me of it. Today, almost a month after the incident, I was notified that they will not be paying out the claim because of lack of evidence even though my neighbor eye witnessed it and was the one who started the claim. Be aware of your property if you see their tow trucks around because they will cause damage and not pay you for it. I'm not a AAA member nor will I ever be. read more

Terrible wait times on hold which explains why there are about 35 call taker position openings on their jobs listing site. Not only does it take forever to get thru, it takes just as long to call back and cancel or wait time for truck to arrive for help. I'm talking 2-3 hour wait times. Thats a long time waiting for help in the hot sun or extreme cold on the side of the road somewhere. It all comes down to corporate greed. They pay their call takers and techs beans...they can't keep people because they always find a better paying job. I know because i worked there, and it happened to me. I was also a aaa member and had to wait hours for a tow that never did show up. I called a local shop who picked me up within 1/2 hour. AAA did reimburse me for that tow because they failed. read more

Horrible!! I pay for AAA for years and haven't needed assistance for at least the last 10 yrs. I call for a tow today and I wait on hold for 23 mins for a human (with god awful violin music). I go through giving them my Information and they tell me there is a 2 hr wait for a tow!! She puts me on hold and then disconnects the call. She has my number so I think she will call me back but NOPE. I call back and wait 27 minutes on hold so the new woman can confirm al the information she has in the system (they had EVERYTHING) and now it's another 2 hr wait. This is crazy!! I pay for AAA for my mother and 17 yo daughter so they will never be stuck on the side of the road but I am not renewing the memberships if I think either one of them would have to sit on the side of the road for 3 hours to get assistance. I would rather save the $150 membership fee to pay for that one time they need help. $150 a year x 10 yrs is $1500 I would have saved - lesson learned UPDATE: 3rd phone call to see where my tow is and they tell me another hour now!! Another 25 minutes on hold to find out another hour!! Ps - they refund your membership pro-rated if you cancel. do not use the aaa travel agency - we dealt with sandra grajeda on a recent vacation to aruba. she negelected to inform us the 5 star resort we paid for was in construction mode. we dealt with power outages/noise 7:00 am - 7:00 pm/dust/ no smoke detectors in the hallways, the list goes on........ we paid for all inclusive adult accomodations, their solutio was 1) send us next door to the family hotel or 2) settle for a lesser 4 star hotel. we booked the same trip last year, she waited for us to cancel due to covid in june, come to find out, the resort was closed march and did not re-open until december, probably avoided telling us as they work on commission from the insurance and deposit we paid - first and last time we use aaa travel. read more

I call AAA to get information regarding my policy. I ended up being transferred to a wrong number and disconnected. I called three other times was transferred again and received no help. I am disgusted. I also called the AAA main telephone number and also a branch other than the Providence branch. I did not get any help. I will be making changes to my policy. read more

AAA horrible! Can't easily reach reps regularly! My car insurance company offers roadside insurance which is much better services. Who needs AAA when you can spend a few dollars a month on your car insurance for the same roadside services. Also you can get similar services as well through some of the credit card rewards program etc., or just Google search and you will find better discounts than AAA for trips etc. Had AAA years ago and got ripped off by one of their auto repair shops they towed me to contrary to the promises from the repair shop. I gave AAA another chance recently seeing the AAA reps LIED to me about parking on an airport when in fact it is off site from the airport at third party joke. Then you try to cancel membership, no call backs, they don't retrieve their messages on the member services lines the reps rush you to when they can't help you. They are the absolute worse!!! Run from them!!!! Total waste of money IMO!!! Like I said, your insurance company will give you MUCH better services related to towing, lock out, flat repair, battery jump charging etc., with unlimited towing distances and/or incidents.... Call them and see. As far as the trip discounts go, Google search and Expedia, booking . com Priceline, Travelocity etc. will give you much better deals and not a bunch of nonsense! I finally cancelled this nonsense a minute after I noticed the parking place the AAA rep promised me was NOT on the airport and AAA still charged me a few dollars pro-rated after I immediately cancelled AAA. What a joke. They can't even give you the full money back after you cancel this garbage immediately after I determined the parking was not as promised as indicated in a third party joke. read more

This branch is great. Everything in one place: travel, insurance, registry services, and member services. I love buying discount movie tickets for myself or as gifts. The insurance (home and car) are cheaper than other quotes I've searched for, and the service is great. I'm still to encounter someone who isn't pleasant. I've always had great experiences with roadside service, and the branch itself is conveniently located with lots of parking. Totally worth the membership. read more

I have been a member for 15 years, and have always had excellent service in multiple areas of AAA. The majority of time I need "Roadside Assistance", but I have done travel related things with them as well as DMV services. Today was a very different story. I needed to have my mom's car towed to have body work done. (The adjuster said it shouldn't be driven, so I called for a tow). The 1st woman I spoke with was very nice and the first thing she asked was, "are you in a safe place?". The car was in the driveway, so the answer was yes. I gave her all the information, including that my house was on the corner, at a four corners. It is the only house that you can see. The driveway is not on the street address, but is actually on the other street, but the front is almost entirely open lawn. Two different drivers came and both couldn't find the house. The 1st driver was in a regular tow truck and thought because the rear bumper was hanging really low as a result of the collision, that it would be better to have a flatbed truck take the car. He told me that he couldn't find the house on Google© Maps, which I still can not believe he said. The other issue with this driver was, it was only by chance that I saw him and went out side. He clearly was lost and never looked my way as I was waving my hands over my head and screaming TRIPLE A! I finally hit the panic button on the car and he turned over to see were it was coming from. The exact same thing happened with the 2nd driver though he didn't hear the alarm (oh and did I mention I live in a very quiet suburban neighborhood). He drove off as I was calling AAA to try and stop him. He ended up coming back down the street my driveway is on and then drove on by. Again my house is the only one and has a huge lawn with few trees on it. The other 3 sides of the 4 corners are all wooded lots one has a house and another has a small pond. The "Roadside Assistance" is part of the service I pay for with my membership. I don't think I should have to chase the drivers down or run into the street to direct them. Both drivers told me they ONLY got the address and no other info. When I called back to ask about it the operator said they had all the information and gave it to the dispatcher. Someone really dropped the ball. I had also asked if they would "BILL" me as the tow was over the 3 miles I get for free. I explained this to the 1st woman who said that yes if I was not going with the car, which I was not. It was only after the 2nd driver had the car up, on the truck, did he ask me to pay him. I told him that I was told they would send a bill. He said we don't do that, which is not true as I have had to have my car towed almost across the state, and they sent a bill because I just didn't have the cash. There was simple no way I was giving a credit card to this guy for a charge that wouldn't be calculated till he arrived at the body shop. To some these may all seem like minor details, but I am completely disappointed in the service I received. The 1st driver was just dumb and the second driver was indifferent. I am thinking about whether I will renew my membership in February. The body shop, which doesn't have their own tow trucks, does have a contract with another company to tow, but I thought AAA would be easier, boy was I wrong. The car has since made it to the shop and I hope not to need AAA again. Oh, and I forgot that I was supposed to get a text, to tell me where the 1st driver was and when he would arrive. Never happened, he told me he couldn't text and drive. Question: why did the woman I spoke with say this was the best most convenient way to determine arrival time. The 2nd time I got an automated call that gave me a 45 minute window ending at 3:20pm at 3:15 I got a call telling me that the driver should arrive between 3:20 and 3:45, go figure, he got here at 3:55. read more

I have been very happy with AAA, especially over this past 1.5 months when my car needed towing (3 times!), and AAA covered the costs. With regular membership AAA will tow for 3 miles without any charges. The guys who work for AAA, in my experience, have been really nice. Sometimes there is a wait (sometimes a real long wait!) for service, but in general this company is top notch, and where else can you get roadside service for $55/year membership? I highly recommend AAA Northeast! read more

I had a technician come out to replace a battery and he put in the wrong one, which in turn caused the electronics to go haywire. The cost of a new battery and $400 at the dealer to fix was then forwarded to AAA for reimbursement. They rejected the claim saying there was no proof of cause. Not happy as a customer of over 20 years. The dealer documented the wrong battery being put in as was the exact reason for the electronics malfunction. I will be taking this to the top, and not sure if I will continue with AAA anymore. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. The starter died on my vehicle so naturally I called AAA to have it towed to the repair facility. Upon getting the vehicle returned to me the alignment was WAY off and frankly unsafe. The mechanic was wondering why the handling was so bad. As he went no where near the suspension, it had to have been the tow. Improperly hooked, pulled on my tie rods, something of that nature. Fine, things happen. I get the alignment and ask for reimbursement. Granted the vehicle is pretty rare and even now my suspension is not the way it was before the tow. I was not asking for a new suspension which in reality I should have but couldn't prove. A simple 93 dollar reimbursement for the alignment. Denied! It was apparently my fault that their driver made a mistake towing my vehicle. How unprofessional and and obviously unreliable transporting people's vehicles. Time to cancel membership read more

AAA came through for me yet again. I've had nice service guys help me out both in RI and here in MA. In Cambridge, I've gotten help from Walter more than once and you could not find a nicer, smarter, and more reliable person to lend a hand when your car won't start. I've also had very generous roadside and counter service in Greenville, RI. The membership fee is tiny compared to the benefits. Smartest thing I did when I got my car. read more

Horrible customer service!!! Called at 10 AM Because I have a flat tire. I was told someone would be at my location in less than 1 hour and received a text that Sid they woul arrive by 11:01 AM. At 11:01 I received a text that service would be here by 11:04 AM. At 12:01 PM I called and was told that service was 7 miles away and proceeding to my location would be here in 30 minutes. At 1:01 PM I called and was told they were busy God only knows if they are coming???. read more

The most rude, condescending "membership service" personnel I've ever dealt with. I called to let them know that I'm still waiting for my new membership cards and received a lecture and also a demand for $5.00 before they will send me my new cards. It's funny, they cashed the check without any problem but didn't send me the cards I paid for. I'm also a "premium member" and have been for 6 years. I would like to register a complaint in regards to the service I got from your customer service department. I had been a AAA member for many years and had to cancel it in late 2010. When I tried to re sign the membership, they would not allow me the same benefits I had as a long standing customer of AAA. The response I got from both customer service and customer relations was "that's the policy" I find it hard to believe that AAA management would not like to retain a long standing customer, especially in this economy! First let me say that when you've "checked-in" at a AAA 3x's within 24 hours, you know something's not right. This is the most I've been here in the last 4 years. Anyway, I came to this conveniently located Providence AAA branch in the attempt to do something fairly quick - or at least a lot faster than if I went to the DMV. I was certainly wrong about that. After waiting in line for 45 minutes, we are all told that the "DMV systems crashed" and that they will hopefully be back up in about 15 minutes. We are all given a number and told to sit down (is this the DMV suddenly?). The tiny sitting area consists of about 10 seats, all of which are narrow with no arm rests RIGHT next to one another. I sat here for about 10 minutes before the feeling of claustrophobia became too overwhelming to tolerate. No television to watch, no magazines to read, no water to drink... I needed to exit this stuffy room immediately in an attempt to to find relief and fresh air. Since I was practically holding hands with my fellow patrons as we stared at each other just waiting to get this "exciting" shit taken care of for our motor vehicles... I think to myself "am I being rude for needing to leave this area?". Oh well. I waited outside in the lobby for an additional 45 minutes... waiting patiently (this will become a reoccurring theme). During this time, I watch as customers begin walking out, people are pacing, one guy became so bored he went into the bathroom for a half hour just to pass the time. I desperately want to write a yelp review as I am experiencing all of this but my phone dies and my low blood sugar is making it difficult for me not to cause a scene. But still, I wait patiently. I walk back inside to ask if there have been any developments. Before I say anything, the woman at the front desk sees me and states "the systems are not currently working". I paused confused and say "Yes I know, I've been here for well over an hour"... Apparently I am a very valued customer. A few moments later I am told by the Assistant Manager that it seems the systems will not be going back up and she is sending all of us home. Patience is a virtue right? Not in this case. She proceeds to take my phone number and tells me she will call if it goes back up before they close. I ask "what time do you close?" She answers "5 o'clock", keep in mind it is 4 o'clock by this time. She also tells me she will call the next morning (at 8am) if they are not up. 8:45am rolls around the next morning and I assume it is safe to say that the systems must be back up because I have not heard from anybody. I arrive right at 9am when they open. When I get there, I am told that they are still not back up but I could go to another AAA. I corrected the staff person that I was there the previous night and I was told that it was all of AAA and all DMV's, she checks with a fellow associate and confirms that I am correct. My number is taken yet again and I am told I will be called when they are back up. So I leave.... again. I receive a call from a different person around 9:30am from the previous day who kept in touch with me about what was happening (hence the 2 stars and not 1). I am kindly told by this person that when the systems are back up, I will be taken right away when I come back by the Assistant Manager so I will not have to wait. It is a little after 12pm now and I receive a call that the systems are back up. When I arrive I ask the woman at a front desk if I can see the Assistant Manager because I was told I would be taken right away since I had to wait so long the previous day. I am told by this frank, plump woman that, "she is not in". I ask, "can I see whoever is in charge?" She responds that "there is not really anybody in charge and that I have to wait in line with everybody else" she also says "all of these people were here yesterday too"... I remember the people from the previous day quite well, there were only about 10 of us and it was none of these people. Anyway, I wait in line, get everything taken care of and leave for the last time... (I hope). I love AAA and I am unclear if this was an isolated incident, however I believe the situation could have been handled much better. There should have been better communication between staff and an apology would have been nice... just one. read more

I used AAA driving school to get my license. I'm 32 and was terrified of driving! As a native New Yorker I felt way more comfortable on a half lit subway car at 4 am than taking a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive. I met with my instructor, Fred and we hit it off right away. He was always ready at our appointed time and he made me feel confident and comfortable on the road. Have you ever listened to Car Talk on NPR? That's pretty much Fred. A true example of customer service! Plenty of safe free parking in their private lot, with reserved parking for AAA members. Immediately inside the building there is an info desk with helpful staff to direct you. Enter the AAA branch section and there are seperate counters for DMV/registry/AAA/travel business. There was no line, and no wait. Nancy was happy to help me at the DMV counter with a new license and new AAA card (married name change). While they don't offer all the same services as the DMV, they have most of them! I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. It would have taken me a minimum of 4 hours to do the same at the DMV. Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff. I may never go to the DMV again!!! read more

My online license renewal failed and I was told I had put on the National Driver's Registry, which is supposed to keep people who have their license cancelled in one state from registering in another. Only I have only received two speeding tickets in my life and had no buisenss being on the list. Reading on the interent gave a bunch of scary stories about mistaken identities or fourty-year old speeding tickets. Worse yet I was told I had to negotiate with Rhode Island registry which is typically a 2-3 hour affiar in the best of circumstances. My wife suggested I just try AAA. It was fantastic. The agent determined it was a case of mistaken identity (we didn't even have the same first name) and cleared my name in five minutes. I have been an AAA member all my life and after this I am a confirmed member for the rest of my life. read more

Was happy with my local aaa office in newburyport ma but then our insurance was handled through this office. My first call to this office to request a copy of my policy was met with Rosa Fernandes. She repeatedly talked over me so I couldn't speak. She also told me she would not send out a copy. I had never received one in the first place. After many emails after that I was finally promised a copy of my policy. If you can deal with someone more professional, please do! read more
