When I first signed up and they warned me prices would start going up after I think the first year? they said I could always just switch units and sign a new contract. But when I tried to do that at the 2.5 year mark after several increases, they said you could only do so if you switched to a new floor entirely... basically making the process harder if you have bulky, heavy things. The place is clean, and access system is nice, but the rates for existing customers vs deep incentives to attract new customers is kind of the slap in the face I needed to close down my unit. Basically only store for the promotional no-rate-increase period and then get out. It's not worth it otherwise.

They also won't tell you that they don't prorate the monthly cost for move out until after your move out. I've used other public storages before and never have had such a poor experience. They won't let you select your unit but only point you to certain ones. They NEVER answer their phone and barely return voicemails. They only called me back once because I said I wouldn't pay (the mysterious "your late fees" after I had already paid on the first) until they called me to explain the change in charge. The unit itself is fine. The phone feature to open gates and doors only work if you're right up on it. You can only enter until 9 pm.

They ate not only very nice and polite but they helped me load and unload my storage vehicle. They helped me back in and then even back out. The Private Car Storage operation is completely different than anywhere else I've ever stored my vehicles. The Irvine location is very unique because they have a very large client that has dozens of vehicles. Because of this it's almost like they have extra time on their hands and give the rest of their clients unbelievable, Neiman Marcus like service. The customer service here is similar to checking into a Ritz Carlton. Everyone and I mean everyone I have met is absolutely outstanding. I don't know if it's a coincidence that everyone is awesome or perhaps it's the management that really knows what they're doing when they hire and train people. Either way I'm a very happy customer and I hope to store my vehicles here for a long time.
