After I submitted complete photos and a written description of the damage and my experience with the movers to the claims department, they stopped responding to my email inquiries. I had to dispute a portion of the credit card charge through my bank in order to be reimbursed for a portion of the damage. So my review stands unchanged at one star.

Northstar movers broke most of the items they transported for us across country. The only…read moreexplanation for this amount of damage is that it was done intentionally, or through gross misconduct. Items that were fully wrapped when they left our home, arrived unwrapped and scratched. Fragile boxes were smashed. Every single piece of furniture we own was dented, as if another piece of heavy furniture fell on it. So many things were damaged, we found ourselves saying "How did this even happen?" We were bullied to refuse insurance, and told that our move would be rescheduled to an unknown date. We had flights scheduled and people moving into our home and could not postpone. Do not make the same mistake we did! Get full insurance coverage through Northstar (if you choose to use them, which I HIGHLY recommend you don't). We were again bullied to pay in full even though our items were completely destroyed, and Northstar offered us a total of $218 for $20K of damages! The COO who handled our case acted as if she had no personal role in this, and seemed insulted that we wouldn't just let it go. She didn't follow through with any significant compensation after stringing us along for three months, and showed little remorse. They even had their attorney write us a letter confirming that they don't owe us additional funds, even though this was clearly a catastrophe. I feel sad that we had such a horrible experience with our move. We have two young children, and the amount of stress we experienced, plus the inability to replace our stuff due to financial stress is really upsetting. These photos are just a small sample of over 50 items which were destroyed in Northstar's care. I assume the company will respond, discrediting me as they have done others on Yelp. I really have no reason to make these claims other than to try and help others have a better experience than we did by choosing a different company to entrust your belongings with. UPDATE: Northstar, your comment below is false. You are not investigating or offering me anything more than $218, after destroying all of my belongings. The purpose of your comment below is to make it look like you care about your clients, when you really don't.

Staff is very cool and nice but Public storage itself does not value their customers and take advantage of the legal loopholes they cannot be held liable for. He stores and tried to sell his bikes from the shed. He stated some of the $1000 bikes were found or given to him. He offered to sell me a bike that was the exact same Specialized model and color as a bike that was stolen 2 months earlier from me. I called the cops and let them sort it out. I'll leave the rest of the details out as that is between the police and the guy. The manager decided to intervene in the police investigation. The manager was ignorant and decided to berate my wife and I because she had a preexisting 10 year relationship (stated by her) with the guy and that I should have taken my concerns to her before calling the cops. She wanted me to notify her that i suspected him of possessing a stolen bike (so she could notify him?) Yeah, that's just moronic. You notify the police and let them deal with it. And she was angry at me for calling police. Bad management putting itself in a police matter. When it comes to issues, legal or criminal, she's not thinking straight or protecting all customers.

My only relief was realizing that I had been paying for the insurance. The manager told my husband we should have paid for the insurance when he reported the damage. We were really relieved to realize that we had gotten the insurance and been paying every month for the last few years. However it turns out that the protection agreement doesn't cover flooding of any sort. I would be less angry if I didn't find out that these units had all flooded before. I guess you are supposed to ask for a unit that doesn't regularly flood? What a waste, they really don't care about your possessions.
